Whoo boy, this got crazy fast.

Just popping in to say this seems more like a misunderstanding to me. Technically, Corban was very vague about where the 'javelins' came from, but that wouldn't have been a problem if DLL had asked for clarification before making his own post. On the other hand, it's possible that the wording itself (specifically 'javelins,' which were throwing weapons and therefore technically a projectile) made him think Corban meant one thing when in fact he meant another...

From my experience, it's generally considered the best form to make things as clear as possible to one's opponents. However, everyone has a right to write how they want... perhaps it would be best for Corban to add a brief, italicized summary of what is actually happening beneath each post? Shouldn't take too much effort, and it would help resolve inconsistencies in the future.

@Divinity

If you had called them lances instead of javelins the issue would still be very much the same.

Not necessarily. I was able to tell they were coming from the ground based on just reading the post, but on the other hand I can see how someone would get a different mental image from it... still, a slight change in the wording might have helped clarify enough to prevent confusion.

We can't really know, though, since everyone is used to different styles and thus may read the same words and interpret them differently. This is why I'm recommending more communication, because I really enjoy reading these things and would like to see them go cleanly if possible.

It is implied that they are coming from the ground. However it is entirely unclear as to whether or not they are rooted in the ground. While javelins and lances can be staked into the ground that is hardly their preferred use and therefore cannot be fairly surmised from @Divinity's post. A better term to use would have been spike, mounted, or rooted but then we encounter another issue wherein their stability has to outmatch Meteor's telekinetic hardening and pushing, another factor left unacknowledged.

Worse yet I imagine @DLL didn't ask because he assumed it to be a tactical flaw. Given that @Divinity didn't say otherwise in his post @DLL was free to draw conclusions that did not work in his opponents favor. Were I in @DLL's shoes I would have written Corban's obliteration at the hands of an attack he had failed to defend. Not expecting a fighter to secure victory when he thinks his opponent is exposing a flaw is foolish at best.

This is not the only issue in Divinity's post but it is a very major issue and its born of his vague incoherence in the very first paragraph. There are at least half a dozen more paragraphs after that and thus it establishes the beginning of a very bad track record for his writing, and it's one that doesn't work in his favor.

The word 'javelin' was only one issue he stated, and the only issue that hinged on my wording. His misinterpretation of where their genesis was was his own shortcoming.

I explained what it was and where it came from in two different ways. I used quartz, which is what most sand is, and I used the word silica, also a form of sand. The issue here is that I did not outright say 'sand', which isn't about my wording as it is his understanding of the composition of a beach.

It's a very obvious flaw to point out but that doesn't mean it's the only one or that your post would be perfect if you had only chosen to use a word other than javelin.

Corban's sheet also explains he is a master at breaking things. Also, there was no metric for how hard his cannonballs actually were. There is no comparable metric for how much they were hardened. Even hardened three times over that would not be enough to stop themselves from getting impaled on something like a giant crystal spire when they meet it at breakneck speeds.

You can continue gas-lighting and playing the deflection game as long as you wish. I am removing myself from the conversation until Shawdus has met out his judgment, at which point you may whine or cheer to your hearts content.

I've warned the participants once. It won't happen again. This argument is over. Star, please remove yourself from this thread. The backseat judging, insulting, and the unnecessary aggression has reached its climax. You are not a part of this fight. Your friend can speak for himself.

True, however since he did call them cannonballs I would assume that they are like your typical cannonball. So a four ton ball of cast iron steel that probably flies around five hundred miles per hour with depreciating values as it goes, though these are described as being pushed. I would bet on a cannonball versus Quartz any day.

Except cannonballs are both (usually) iron, and incredibly dense. Coconuts are neither of those things. Even moving at the same speed as a cannonball, they would not have the same energy because they have less mass. All in all, 10/10, crystal beats coconut.

Edit: I'd also like to know what these other glaring issues in my post were. Or at least what you think they are. The more I learn my errors the more I can improve!

You can act as haughty and as offended as you want, as long as you continue to present this flawed argument in defense of vague writing, I will continue to both stand up for my friend and to tell that you are wrong. If you want to kick me out of the tournament then I don't care.

Iron still beats quartz and those coconuts are hardened with the only metric available being cannonballs. Score one for coconut guns firing in bursts, this is gonna hurt.

By the by, I thought you were absconding from this argument?

Star, it's all right. Really. At this point most everything that can be said has been said. There's no point in arguing back and forth between ourselves anymore, we all know nothing's going to happen unless a judge comes in and takes a look. We'll let it be, and if things go south I can talk to Div via PM or something.

I have not stated a defense for Divinity or his actions at all. I am not the judge so I haven't stated an opinion. I know you think you're perfect, but even you could learn a thing or two from that.

And if that's your wish then it is granted. I haven't the time or energy to curb your self-righteous rampant egotism. That said, blunderbuss advances to the championship. Happy hunting.

You haven't but @Divinity has and just like his post and the coconuts your defense was vague at best. Feel free to remove the rest of Neo-SRI while you're at it since I highly doubt my comrades will want to keep playing under the yoke of a corrupt and incompetent GM. I'm sure that you and your wife will put on a stellar performance in the final round, as guaranteed to be fixed as it is unread.

The fact you're still here tells me this goes deeper than just RP. Who really has the bad hand? "oh boo hoo, someone doesn't think I know everything, and how dare something not go my way!? Unfair! Corrupt!" Grow up and get out. Not necessarily in that order.
