@Charnobylisk That would be great! ^_^ I'm not intimately familiar with the source material, but I've done my research and Sickle's obviously happy with the results - I've just been throwing character concepts at him all day. He also tends to shamelessly exploit me as a name generator for everything under the sun, including the RP thread :P
Personality: A youthful optimist with a belief in what the Grey Wardens are doing is right. With a passion for animals and the outdoors in general. Generally he tries to live by Dalish principles however living in the Shem's world has curved some of that. His loyalty and dedication have risen him through the ranks as well as how seriously he takes battles. A solemn believer that the Wardens stand as against the greatest evil of all, the Darkspawn.
Surprising fondness for Dwarves preferring the company of them over humans or city Elves. While he will work with humans, he is not above dealing with those who would insult his kin. A strong believer in Elves right to have a land of their own and be fairly represented among the people of Thedas.
Backstory: Born in the Free Marches, his mother the keeper of clan Lavallen his father was a hunter. At a young age his father passed away. Though he lacked the gift of magic, he learned much of their lore and heritage as any first or second would. He learned to hunt however his sword play came from watch knights and champions in tournaments battle defeat one another. He combined what he witnessed at tournament and combined that with his natural agility and training with the warriors of his clan. Many thought him crazy to train in to skill sets at once, yet as time went on he proved adept in both area's amazing most of his clan.
Attending the Grand Tourney he placed well and many were shocked to see a Dalish among the last standing many were shocked. He had even won jousts on the back of Halla, many city elves bought him drinks, humans booed him and soon found themselves asking for forgiveness. The Emerald of the Marches was what they announced him as, while he never placed champion he did always come close, many claiming he threw the fights to prevent riots by humans. It was here he caught the notice of the Grey Wardens and they invited the Elf into the order.
He soon found himself a Constable of the Grey assigned to Weisshaupt receiving reports from Warden Commanders from around Thedas and sending back what he could from his home in the fortress. He also found himself working with the recently returned Griffins and becoming one of their dedicated trainers. Bonding with one of the hatch-ling he named Storm Beak for her fondness so dragging him from his bed when it stormed to carry her outside and let her fly in the rain.
Recently he was made named High Constable, just before the incident in Ferelden. Deciding to venture down while the First Warden rallies support Storm Beak and Daeron have arrived after a short stay in Orlais. Daeron hopes they can find a solution to the problem before they have build another fortress and man it. These days the Wardens numbers are thin enough as it is.
Notable items: Grey Warden Sky Commander armor, Wardens sword and shield, Dalish bow, and equipment for a Joining.
Mount: Storm Beak, a lovable if annoying griffin with a deep love of flying in the rain much to her partners dismay and dislike.
Appearance: A woman of noble name within the Courts of Orlais, Rosalie has presence and has been taught proper poise as well as the social graces that work along with it. She stands her full height of 5'9" and her womanly figure draws the eyes of many men and women alike. She has a curvaceous figure, practically perfect for bearing children, yet she holds no desire to. Her arms are strong but seemly and her legs are slender and long, curving at the hips and bosom and meeting again at her small waist. Her long, flowing hair is ice blonde and stands out in comparison to the darker hair tones found in Orlais.
Her flawless, alabaster skin is a marking of her lineage and place in the Orlesian noble society. Her eyes are as pale as the winter ices that cover the water surfaces in winter months. Her appearance is one that grants her many stares and hushed whispers behind cupped hands but she pays it no heed. Her button nose draws attention to the centre of her face whilst her full, bow lips are the colour of pale rose petals and stand out vividly in contrast to her pale skin.
Whilst in Royal courts, Rosalie wears the proper elegant clothing that is considered acceptable by those of Noble and Royal blood alike. It meets in tastes with the current Orlesian fashions. She is commonly found in silken dresses that accentuate her shape as well as her features. Her most commonly worn colours are varying shades of blue with cream and white accents with hints of silver fastenings and laces.
Her head bears a simple band crown; which is silver and twisted like vines with a single hanging crystal coloured jewel on her forehead. Her fingers are adorned with various rings one of which includes her Durant signet ring which she wears on her right hand ring finger. The ring on her forefinger is her only remaining possession of her mother’ that was passed on to her when she was of age. It is a simple silver band, which has floral etchings, with a small inset stone of white smoke. The gem itself looks as if it has literal smoke under the surface of the jewel. Her left hand forefinger bears an elegant ring that has a presidential blue gem stone set within a silver setting with numerical etching across the surface of the silver.
When travelling, Rosalie is found in navy blue riding trousers and a white linen shirt which is held down with light weight black leather riding armour with silver fastenings. Her riding boots reach to half way up her thighs and have a very small heel for gripping the stirrups of her horse. She travels long distance by horseback and short distance by carriage. Generally she will not be found travelling without her simple armour as she is aware of the dangers on the roads. Not that she truly has to worry too much about it but as she prefers to keep a low key approach to her abilities, this is the wiser choice.
She also wears leather riding gloves and a black leather belt that fastens around her waist and allows for the dagger that her adoptive father gifted to her to be held, this is a way of showing her position easily while travelling if the need should arise. The dagger is hidden by view by her travelling cloak which is a navy blue in colour that matches her trousers and has many interior pockets to hold the various herbs and plants that Rosalie finds on her travels.
There are occasions where Rosalie has the need to be much more non-descript in appearance. In these such occasions, Rosalie wears simple commoner clothing of varying degrees of browns, blacks and greys. Her plain brown cloak covers most of her and the hood hides her distinctive hair. She has black leather fingerless gloves that hide the majority of her pale skin. Her lower half is dressed in brown leather travelling pants and brown shin high travelling boots. She also wears a cream coloured shirt covered in hardened dark brown, lightweight leather armour. Her arms have similar bracers covering them and her hips are adorned with a black leather belt with various pouches and potion bottles attached. She carries a spear tapered staff on her back.
Personality: Having been born and bred within a Noble house, Rosalie is more than capable of holding a conversation with others; be it an upfront topic or whilst playing the game she can certainly hold her own. She is a woman worthy of respect but is also slightly outcast from certain groups within the court. This is largely due to the fact that she can come across as bitter due to her circumstances and as no one is exactly aware of her special situation they feel she is ungrateful towards her adoptive father.
As well as this, Rosalie is considered a commodity to and a pet by certain individuals in the court. These interactions have caused her to be very wary of people who consider themselves better than others. She knows that no one is better than anyone else and despises those that believe such a fallacy. Despite her personal feelings on certain subjects, she is aware of when to hold her tongue and when to speak out and when she does let her words flow they can be quite cutting.
When not within the courts, Rosalie is capable of great compassion and is appreciative towards all those that make her life easier. She appreciates the value of life and freedom. Her temperament is generally calm and thoughtful but she is not averse to losing her temper when the need arises. She may not be the most trusting individual but she gives everyone a chance to state their case before passing her own judgement on them. She is a very meticulous and focused woman who loves to help others when she feels they are deserving or are desperately in need.
She is deathly against blood magic, necromancy and mind altering magic of any form. She also doesn't like to share stories and will usually be given a scathing retort if you try.
Rosalie knew very little about her birth parents. She had been taken in by the Marquis of Serault when she was only just a child. She was two years old, or so the servants had told her, and it was peculiar for a member of the Noble courts of Orlais to adopt a child. However no one questioned him when he made the decision to raise Rosalie as his own.
She was well cared for and brought up to be an exemplary child. She was bright and friendly and loved to talk with the servants of her father’s home. She had be told off often for trying to help the servants in their tasks. She had a very happy and uneventful childhood for the most part. The only peculiar things she could recall were the times where her father would lock himself away into his study for hours at a time.
She was eight when her powers began to manifest themselves. It was during her time that she discovered that her adoptive father was an apostate mage. Over the next ten years she learned about the Circle, Templars and the Chantry’s role in the whole process.
Her father informed her that it was of utmost importance that their powers remain a secret or else the Chantry Templars would separate them forever. She loved him too much to ever risk that happening so she was meticulous in keeping her talents hidden.
Over time her father introduced her to other apostates that were going to help her learn other kinds of magic. This was to allow her to figure out which schools of magic she particularly liked so she could focus her further studies on those schools alone. She would at least learn the basics of each school in order to harness total control over her power.
Her father’s friend from Kirkwall discovered that she was particularly adept at force magic and she had a very close kinship with the primal school of magic which her father taught her. When she was given any free time, Rosalie made a point to find any and every book on magic that she could get her hands on. She was aware it was dangerous to look for such books and that if she was caught, she would be taken away to the circle.
When she became of age she was expected to attend the royal courts in Val Royeaux every so often. These visits soon became the hardest parts of her year. The only good thing that came out of it was that she learned how to fully handle her emotions in stressful and uncomfortable situations.
Time continued forward and the year of her 21st birthday, rumours of a blight breaking out in Ferelden had begun to circulate. Due to these rumours, her father sent her to stay in Val Royeaux for a few months until the threat of another blight was confirmed. She hated those three months away from home. She counted down the days until she could return but as luck would have it, she would be wishing she was far, far away when she finally did return home.
She left Val Royeaux without informing her father. She had had the guards take her home with a counterfeit letter she had written and signed with her father’s name. She wanted to surprise him and have him stop worrying so much. The journey home was slightly quicker than usual as Rosalie declined to have so many stops. She was perfectly fine travelling on horseback to make the journey quicker. The carriage with all of her belongings would arrive a week later which was perfectly acceptable.
As they arrived at the mansion, Rosalie jumped off of her horse at the stables and sprinted inside. She made a direct line for her father’s study but stopped short as she heard shouting coming from within. She leaned against the wooden door and listened intently.
“In order to protect that which you hold dearest, sometimes you must strike first! You have to take the fight to them. You cannot protect anything while waiting for the assault! You must attack!” Her father’s voice boomed angrily around the room. She couldn’t hear anything for a moment but suddenly a guttural scream came from within.
Her eyes widened in shock and she threw the doors open only to watch her father writhing on the floor in pain. His limbs looks disjointed and were sticking out at odd angles. His face was screwed up in pain, his eyes were glossed over as he stared at the ceiling. His mouth let out a wail that reminded Rosalie of horror stories she had read as a child. His skin stretched over his face and turned as red as blood but there was no blood pooling beneath his body. It seemed to be stretching over every inch of his body. She stood and watched in horror as her father became an abomination.
His grotesque face turned to look at her then, his elongated and stretched out limbs swinging around his body and dragging along the floor. ”Oh myyy… yesss… this will do nicccely.” The beast hissed and screeched as it began to move towards Rosalie. ”You will be a deliccciousss meal…”
Rage and sorrow sung inside her head as she thrust her hands forward, palms facing towards the abomination. ”You won’t get passed this doorway, demon!” Ice erupted forth from the focal point of her joint hands. The ice covered the front of the demon for a moment, stopping it temporarily in its tracks. A moment was all she needed however to get into her stance.
As the ice began to crack, Rosalie set her feet apart, firmly planting them to hold her weight as she clenched her left hand into a fist above her head. She took a deep breath as the ice began to crumble to the floor and stared the demon in its blackened eyes. She threw her hand down to hit the ground and a heavy force shattered the remaining ice and thrust the demon flat onto the ground of her father’s study. The demon flailed and screamed in pain as the force kept it in place.
”You don’t belong here, demon.” Her right hand began to twirl in the air, her fingers dancing fluidly with each motion she made. Her eyes sparked with hatred as she stared into the demons eyes still. She was searching for some sign of her father, anything to let her know he was still there but… there was nothing but rage, hatred and carnage behind those eyes. ”Goodbye father…” Electricity crackled in the air causing her hair to stand on end. The beast before her convulsed whilst being held in place. The limbs stopped twitching before the electricity had dissipated.
She couldn’t stay here anymore. She had to move quickly. She ran to the hidden doorway which led to the stairwell that would take her into the hidden study room beneath this one. She grabbed what potions, components, scrolls and books she felt she would need. Her father had a small pouch of gold coins that she also grabbed from his desk before running for the stables. She still had her riding clothes on so it was quick and easy for her to grab her horse and run. She said a silent farewell to her childhood home.
The next 8 years of her life were spent on the road and in hiding. She made a few friends along the way and picked up a few helpful skills to boot. She’s travelled all over Ferelden, The Free Marches and most of Nevarra and Orlais. She hopes to one day see Antiva, the Anderfels and the Rivain. For now she is wandering the Bannorn in Ferelden.
Notable items: A spear staff that a friend gifted her – Blade end/Staff end A pendant that her father gave her when she turned 18 The rings described in the character description are found on a longer chain around her neck and under her shirt.
Go ahead an transfer your two characters over to the characters tab too. Once we get the final two player's first CSs in, i'll post up the first IC post and let you all get to work. That will be by the end of this week, at the latest. Question for everyone, though.
Would everyone prefer to start in the area before everything goes to hell, come in during everything going to hell, or turn up after everything has returned from going to hell? =P
Place of Origin: Orlais, originally of the Noble house of Renvier in the capital city, but now wanders around.
Appearance:
Personality: Nicolette, though an assassin by trade, is not brutal and bloodthirsty. Having been raised in a Noble home, she has been bred and brought up well. She is a close friend to those she cares for and always stands up for those who don't have much, having been part of the upper class and losing it all.
To those that abuse their power, those who target the less fortunate, or to those who are just plain nasty, she holds nothing back, not afraid to get into a fight or steal something for revenge. She is whoever she needs to be to blend in to her surroundings, which takes its toll on her as she goes on as she battles with her true identity, which she believes was taken away when she lost her family.
Backstory: Nicolette Renvier is the youngest daughter of House Renvier, behind her sister Magnolia. Her father and mother had great hopes for her. While her sister would marry well and continue their legacy, Nicolette was free to choose her own path and had plans to study abroad and eventually be a member of the Court, an ambassador or something high up.
Nicolette and her sister were best friends and did everything together. They would giggle and play while in their classes, they would hide away in the secret rooms of their house and talk, they would have each others backs if they ever got in trouble. Nicolette always knew her sister would be married off and worried for her sister's future. However, the Duvonte family was the chosen household and the young man, Phineas, was handsome, smart, and adored Magnolia to no end. The two quickly fell in love and it seemed like life would be ok for Magnolia.
Lady Celeste Duvone; however, had other plans. Celeste abhorred the marriage. Knowing full well that if the two married, her plans for her son would be tarnished, hatched her own plans. Money talks and she hired the right people at the right time. While the two lovebirds were together, a team of assassins killed Magnolia and planted forged evidence that showed that Magnolia had planned on assassinating Phineas and his family in hopes to obtain the household finances. Lady Celeste played the doting mother, and called for action against House Renvier. Their title was stripped with little investigation and the family was sent off.
Nicolette, having lost her sister, fell into a whirlwind of depression. They had a simple home life, but her father was called to war and was placed on the front lines and was subsequently killed in action. Her mother slowly grew less and less sane and was eventually placed in a home and cared for.
Nicolette weighed her options. She had no home, no family, and no other options. The call for revenge was too great so she hatched a plan to get back at the Duvonte family. However, even the best laid plans can come to ruin, and Lady Celeste heard through the grapevine of her plans and threatened Nicolette that if she were to ever try anything, she'd unleash a fury on her and make sure she would never get the chance to fight back.
Nicolette instead moved to Ferelden and began wandering, never staying in one place for too long. She started taking on jobs, working with mercenaries, thieves, and other assassins, making a small name for herself as an avenging angel, a savior to those who need someone.
This is where her story begins.
Notable items: Nicolette carries her two silver daggers with her at all times. For her armor, she wears light, leather armor for easy movement. She has a black cloak that she wears to hide herself when she is sneaking around, or just doesn't want to be noticed. She carries a handwritten letter from the head of the Duvonte family, Lady Celeste, with a threat/warning, which Nicolette uses as fuel for her lifestyle. She also carries a small, silver pendant with a picture of her sister.
Well, we have 4 PC sheets in currently. Once the final player submits one, we'll get rolling. I have the first IC post already written up, so if you want anything to happen with your character beforehand (especially if they are going to be starting in the Warden camp) feel free to post it atm. If you'd prefer to show up in a bit of carnage, then wait for the first post. Your choice ^.^
