Name: Erik Tan
Age: 49
Gender: Male
Nationality: GermanErik is a long serving member of Germany, and proud to be. At the ripe age of 18, Erik went to study at the Potsdam Kriegsschule learning infantry strategy and logistical warfare. Once graduated, Erik operated a domestic logistical command structure on the Eastern Front based in East Prussia; while in no danger, the pressure was still on to assist Austro-Hungarian forces fight Russian hordes day and night. Eventually, when the war came to a conclusion with the Treaty of Versailles, Erik was one of the few officers of the 22nd Army who wasn't relieved due to the crippling of the German economy. When Adolf Hitler ran for the Presidency of Germany, Erik was skeptical of his claims to return Germany to its former glory. However, when Hitler dominated the election and proceeded to reclaim old territories and re-mobilize the German Wehrmacht, Erik built trust for him. Now, after the Blitzkrieg of Poland, Erik is about to be launched into the fray again in the East, once again against the Russian forces, along with their many allies in the Soviet Union...Erik is a robust patriot for Germany who wants to show the long historical opponents of Deutschland kneel before the Fatherland. While this seems maniacal, he is also sympathetic, and believes in the policy of respecting the enemy. Take him as fair and just, but wielding an iron fist. He is also very conservative of resources, and hopes that his support will be put in efforts that will have a lasting effect, and will not take kindly to lost resources.-Standard Issue Wehrmacht Offizier Uniform (Major)

Is that right that you'd like to control Panzergreandierkompanie B's logistical wing?
EDIT: Anyone involved with the company can sub to this thread as a way of easily accessing the "Company Tab":
Panzergrenadierkompanie B Info
<Snipped quote by Frengo>
Yes, I suppose I did forget to mention that didn't I? :P
<Snipped quote by MrMinerGuy142>
No problem, I'll update the company thread.
Am I right in thinking Erik is a Major?
<Snipped quote by Frengo>
Yes, he is ranked at the well named German equivalent to Major: Major. :) Major just seems like a good position for someone in charge of a crucial link in the war effort, it's not like I'm trying to out command the captains or anything.
<Snipped quote by MrMinerGuy142>
No it's fine, I'm just adding bits and pieces to the company tab and wanted to make sure I had the rank right.
As your the logistical side of thing, it makes sense that your character is handling other areas of the advance - not just our AO, so his rank is logical.
The way I've set things up, is that the various platoons/groups will directly call your logistics HQ for whatever support they require.
To make things fun for you, feel free to create NPCs that might give you an "up front" feel of the situation, such as truck drivers who have lost their vehicles and are caught in the crossfire.
Another point of interest is your combat engineers, or pioneers as they were called; they performed various roles, from flame throwers to bridge builders. In an action role, their expertise might be employed to crack open an enemy stronghold with high explosives.
^ Just a few thoughts for you.
EDIT: Not that I'm trying to tell you how to play; your Major can personally spearhead a charge of culinary cheffs armed with rolling pins for all I care. Just so long as you full-fill the logistical side of things, then that's all that really matters. This is a casual RP (I think the GM said?), so there's no need for full on military realism - and to be honest, I've been winging things this far as it is :P
anyone going to join the Russians
<Snipped quote by Kurai Assassin>
Do you have any friends that may be interested in joining you?
<Snipped quote by Frengo>
Me? Friends? hahaha you must be joking mate. (nah but seriously i have very few friends and non of them RP)
<Snipped quote by Kurai Assassin>
I mean friends on the Guild lol, but I'm sorry for your real life situation. Just know that it doesn't matter, because when you get to my age, you all go in your own directions and everyone forgets everyone else anyways.
Errrrrr, I would love to create a second character, but I've got too many other commitments. You could always join Panzergrenadierkompanie B, and we could make this a "PVE" affair. Just a thought.
<Snipped quote by Frengo>
I mean i could but tanks arent my thing and id have to make another backstory. (also im at sixth form so the few friends i have are at sixth form with me the others have all left for college) [side note i could make a second character. does your company have any positions for Assualt troopers or heavy infantry]
<Snipped quote by Kurai Assassin>
Panzergrenadiers are pretty much assault troopers; they're the dudes that rode in half tracks, and protected the tanks. My knowledge is a little shakey, but basically, the tanks would advance until they hit an obstacle (like a fortified town), and then the Panzergrenadiers would advance to clear that obstacle. There's a little more to it than that, but that's the basic outline of what they did.
If the tanks went without infantry support, they'd get bogged down and destroyed easily.
You could play as a single soldier, perhaps in Reloaded's platoon, or take control of Panzergrenadier Platoon B.
Alternatively, there's nothing wrong with being a German sniper. We could squeeze you in there somewhere. I mean, the German sniper in Enemy at the Gates was awesome! ... until, ya know, he hung that kid and stuff, but that doesn't mean yours has to be a sociopath!
<Snipped quote by Frengo>
Might have a word with ReloadeD. Not sure where a sniper would fit in with an Armoured infantry unit. (Alternatively i could be a Heavy Gunner. MG42. My german military during ww2 is a little basic. we only really learnt American, British and Russian military tactics and major battles in History) infact would it be easier for me to pm you and we can figure something out there
