It's fine. Looks good for the most part. One thing though, Rune Magic is already a type of magic used frequently. In fact, Felix uses a type of rune magic to get from place to place. Also, I will at some point have Felix make inferences of the gem magic based upon the description you have given it once he sees you use it. Something along the lines of using manalysis to see how mana interacts with your gems, how you use them as your focus, stuff like that.
Alright, I already have an idea as for what it will look like in terms of Gem Magic. As for Rune Magic I didn't know so that will be fine to change slightly. Even if it is common I like the idea of having a character with it as well as the possibility of some rituals etc. Something not as forward as straight up combat in magic :3.

Question on Scholars of the Societas Academia. Aside from their usual tasks of researching the arcane (and its wide realm of knowledge) and creating new spells, are they limited to the spells they produce or discover, or can they utilize spells and skills from other aspects or factions?
The only faction that has it's own separate spell group is the Disciples of Salem with the counter-magic arts. And since they're not exactly "spells" in the traditional sense, it's going to be limited to just members or past members of that faction. Aside from that the I suppose the members of other factions will have more of their own stylistic choices with spells in a way. I.E. Crucifixes with the Catholic Magi, Old Ones themed magic with the cult, Pagan religion and tradition styled magic with other unnamed things. Due to the nature of the Societas, to me it makes sense that they would have a lot of those spells archived and could use them themselves if they studied enough. But I'm not sure what @Prodigal Son's opinion on it is.

@cottonmouth had about the right of it. Everyone will be able to use whatever magic they want their characters to use. For Academia the aspects were simply to divide thw faction up into subfactions and to make it more stream lined to make a character. I didn't really explain it thoroughly, but every character has an aura that is a different color based upon what magic they accel at. Certain matic just makes more sense to certain people. That being said, it is important to note that every Academia student has at least a foundational knowledge of all types of magic before they go on to aspect training. The scholar aspect was meant mostly as a research roll for untalents. Though I suppose if a talent were to become a scholar it would open up a world of ancient and archaic spells lost to the ages. My idea of a scholar would be someone who utilizes ancient tomes as mediums to cast spells in battle. But my idea on that doesn't have to be a reality if you have a better idea.
@ShiningSector basically if you choose an aspect I want to see your character most proficient in the spells of that aspect. An example would be, I don't want your character to have chosen the cleric aspect only to be mainly utilizing large ruin aspect spells.
Going with a bit more positive and graceful personality after reading the posts on our friend Nemo~ Some contrast to his style while knowing full well not to make someone who cant respect Nemo and simply ruin any team cohesion. As a DM myself it saddens me when people go ahead and make characters that won't ever get along with the rest of the party after all and derail the campaign.

On the same note, Cottonmouth's character is more alligned as neutral than he is evil. His character does the work he is hired to do and fights back without mercy to those who attack him. Now that Felix has enlisted his help he falls somewhere along the spectrum between true neutral and chaotic neutral. His character should be fairly easy to get along with if you aren't lawful good or chaotic evil.

Deston has dedicated his life to changing the world around him. He furthers his goal by literally changing the way people see things, by altering the world around him. At first he would simply conjure images and visions that weren't there, but by an early age he had already mastered making exact duplicates of people and decided to move onto loftier goals. He began focusing an channeling his mana into changing the chemical and atomic structures of materials around him. While he can masterfully change an apple into an orange without blinking an eye, he is still working on perfecting his craft to a greater scale such as turning a wooden mansion into brick and stone, or forming an item out of the air, without it leaving him exhausted and burnt out.
Deston has never wavered in his service to the Catholic Arcanocracy and has never doubted their teachings. Once his skills as an illusionist were known they helped him focus and hone his natural born talent. At a young age he was being given tasks by his Grand-Magi Alexander Leiber, such as sitting in on meetings without being seen, or sneaking into places otherwise forbidden to his fellow novices. The Church soon displaced him from his home in Ireland, constantly having him travel from place to place going to meeting after meeting, breaking into offices, and warehouses alike. By his teenage years he had become a master at blending into the crowd, becoming anyone at any time. A Japanese manager here, a German scholar there. He was recently promoted to Magi after completing his first task of killing a man for the Church. Deston didn't know who the man was, though he suspected he was a dangerous apostate the Church had deemed needed to be put down for the betterment of humanity. But he never actually asked. He never asked questions, and he found he wasn't the slight bit worried about who the man was. That was until the man Deston had killed actually made the news. The man had been a well respected Grand-Magi of the church.
The news shook Deston's otherwise blind faith, and sought council the only place he new where. At his next meeting with his old friend and mentor Grand-Magi Leiber. Leiber quelled his fears providing a story where the man Deston had just killed had actually been an operative of a dark order bent on the destruction of the Church. The Church couldn't formally charge the man with these crimes without alarming the people of how deep this group had infiltrated the church. Deston readily accepted the story he was provided, unwilling to believe that the Church would have him kill an innocent man. But the crack in Deston's faith was there.
Deston couldn't help but ask questions for his tasks which seemed to come less and less frequently after that. After a curious case of not receiving word from the Church for two months Deston finally received another task to kill. This time Deston couldn't go blindly killing. He spent weeks stalking his subject, a man mid way through his life. A thug from all indications, the man constantly skulking in the back alleys of Chicago shaking people down. Still Deston was unsure what the higher ups in the Church could want with this mans death. It was after one particular shake down where the man had beaten a young female and threatened to kill her child that Deston had decided the man deserved to die. Deston snuck into the mans apartment with all the skill his years provided, and entered the mans room only to find him already tore to pieces on his bed. Just then two Magi and came out of the shadows attacking Deston.
The battle that followed added two more bodies to Deston's kill count. Again death affected him not at all. But the betrayal of the Church haunted him. Obviously no longer welcome in the Church, Deston spent the following year hunting down his Grand-Magi who had seemed to disappear into thin air.
Deston's personality is whatever the moment requires. One moment he is pretending to be outgoing, hearty salesman, the next a secretive and nervous recluse. He typically prefers to stay in the shadows and scope a situation out before deciding on how to act. When engaging with peers he will often display a mask of a happy go lucky youth as he observed his natural quite, caustic, cynical, and reserved demeanor would make people distant and in the long run harder to manipulate for assistance. That being said, Deston is easily flustered with true deep emotions often not knowing to do when they appear as he is used to expressing only the shallow.
Deston has no true friends as he is constantly moving about, his only constant contact is the Grand-Magi he has been serving his whole life. I like your character, you're in. Just a few things. Promise me you'll have your character join Felix when he approaches you. It seems like your character has an unwavering loyalty to the Arcanocracy. The other thing is that the Church of the First order is a Jesuit order that is supposed to be secret from the rest of the Catholic Arcanocracy, a seperate entity from the Arcanocracy. The Arcanocracy is what gives ranks, the COTFO is a small group that operates within the shadows. I'm not really sure I made that clear which is why I pointed it out.
The last thing, you keep your mitts off of Felix's wooden mansion.

But I figured since the group is going about trying to protect the paragons, Deston would just hitch along since that seemed as good a way as finding them as any other. But I can do some editing if you'd prefer on that matter as well.

Well, Chaotic Neutrals usually would hold no loyalty and usually are the root cause of party issues unless you get a Lawful Stupid character, which is Lawful Good played wrong or as an extremist to the point they are almost Lawful Evil. It would be simpler if your character was a willing participant in the group. And with the story map I have layed out it currently does not account for a group member to be a double-agent. Having pc enemies is much more difficult to deal with than just having npc GM enemies.

The general population by and large is unaware of Talents and magic. So the news media really wouldn't tell you if someone who died was a magi or not, they wouldn't know. Unless it was from some vaticsn only news station or something like that.

Combined with Limit Breaker and Movement Prediction it can even allow for the user to cut sniper bullets in half with a mana-infused butter knife. -Limit breaker-By forcefully bringing out the muscle potential one has, it increases it's reaction time, speed and strength in order from highest to lowest. Downside-It causes muscle aching and if used multiple times a day it can lead to momentarily body paralyzation. -Movement Prediction-It predicts the trajectory of an attack or anything moving for that matter. It gives the user ability to see when that object or moving creature will be a few seconds after and the path it will take. However it doesn't predict if the object will change direction mid-movement, that would be future prediction.Passively active, can deactivate/activate it at will, 0 CD and cast time. -Mana Infusal- It can infuse with mana an object of the user's choosing giving it special properties and increased statistics(butter knife cutting sniper bullets). ***Phantom***-The user is able to instantly teleport up to 12 inches in any direction, cast time and cool-down are 0. The user loses its inertia. If the user tries to teleport to a solid object, the ability doesn't activate.
Hailing from Societas Academia, Bishop graduated as a Knight Mage. Reason he left? After learning all he could from the Academy, he simply had no reason to stay. When the opportunity presented itself, he packed up and left. The opportunity being a fellow scholar returning to the academy with an ancient tome. Luckily for Bishop, he was the first to hear of his finding. Quickly knocking the Scholar subconscious, he got the tome and left. Surprising enough, the tome showed only one ability, some kind of teleportation technique. Needless to say, Bishop got studying. Leaving the Societas Academia, he sought refuge in one of the subgroups of the Pagan Magi. A peaceful lot they were, not many questions, not many tasks. Using the cover he got from them, he studied the tome every single day. 5 months later, he was finally able to perform the ability. The special thing about it, was that it didn't need any measures to be taken or circles to be drawn to perform it and the mana cost to activate it was relatively low. That's what it gave it's value. Now quietly passing time amongst the Pagan Magi, he plans on his next destination.
His personality changes into 2 forms. In his first form adrenaline is his poison. A rather carefree and reckless nature, he often disregards others' safety, even his own at times, for different reasons. His value on life, as he sees it, is rather low. He doesn't take life for granted, actually it's the opposite, he cherishes every moment of it. But the same thing can't be said for others' life. In his second one he becomes overly cautious, thoughtful about every action he is about to take and it's consequences. He will do anything to avoid danger and attack only if necessary when there is no option left. He values life above anything else and will never resort to killing another human being. Always looked at forming social ties as a bother but he ended creating some anyway, that being during the time he was at the academy. After he left it, alone ever since. Passionate about super power manga and ninja/assassin ones he adapted his real life style to his preferences. His ego raising with every successful dangerous situation he barely escaped. The pleasure he gets when he dodges bullets and attacks from stronger enemies brings his ego and adrenaline to a sky-scraping level giving his first personality more show time.

Choosing another target has a 5 min CD(cool-down) but this CD resets if the last target was killed. Also masks his presence including his mana waves and whatnot else for 24 hours after performing a successful kill.It does not stack but the bonus resets after every successful kill. -Infinite Tsuku-hoodie-The reason why you can't see his face. You pulled his hood down? Too bad, another one is already up under it(goes on forever, the last one disappearing after going down).
