@Aisling Man. I've watched "Bram Stoker's Dracula" (1992) lately. It's a two hours film with a two minute sex scene. Guess when my mother walked in.

@Aisling Yes, but I've known this film for quite some time now. It's rated 16, but I already watched it when I was 12...

@Aisling The best part is that my mother was the one who bought the DVD for me because when I got it, I wasn't 16 yet

@CountDracula

All sex scenes in US are rated R or you have to be 18. If it gets too close to the scene where you can see the 'action' of the sex, it is rated X or you have to be 21.

@Aisling Normally, she doesn't mind sex scenes... so I don't know why she reacted like that.

@Aisling Here in Germany, we aren't as prudish as over there in the US. Sex scenes don't mean it has to be rated R or X, and swearwords aren't being beeped out. We've got worse problems than movies ;)

@Aisling Refugee crisis, ISIS, neonazis burning down refugee homes, hate, intolerance, discrimination, world poverty, war in Middle East,... those are problems to us. Not swearwords and sex scenes in some random movies.

@CountDracula
We don't have neonazis burning down refugee homes but we do have abandon warehouses that some homeless people used and were policing themselves, some how burned up in the middle of winter.
We do have various kinds of hate for various reasons (( like the protestors in Chicago, Ill when Trump went there)), intolerance to each other- if you don't belong to this then....., discrimination against various kinds of people such as disabled, homeless poor and unemployed, and there are areas of poverty here in US. Refugees are treated better than regular low class working people.

@Aisling So, why do you make a problem out of something as unimportant as movies? If it's about your kids, they'll get to know about sex and will pick up swearwords anyway...

@CountDracula

Because there a few words that I do not like to hear and I don't promote underage sex. It's just me. I still get after my daughter for saying a few phrases such as 'fuck off' around Rowan. If he says such words in school, there will be trouble. He is too young to understand at this age. Some schools will literally suspend students for a few days. Students actually bring guns into the schools with the intent of killing someone. Schools now have gates on their hallways. Way too much violence in schools. It used to come from blacks, now Mexicans are being more violent. Gangs come back about 10 years ago and there have been many gang fits such as they had in the 50's except those were mostly the Spanish kids involved. As I have said before, what goes around, comes around again or other words- history repeats itself and the only thing that changes are the names and faces.

@Aisling Oh, 'Murica... where you actually get suspended for everything. I wonder why in Germany, it is still seen as the most liberal country in the world. Here, we see that we don't swear in front of children as well, and there are some rules for films:

- Rated 0 and rated 6 films may be shown all day long.
- Rated 12 films mustn't be shown before 8pm.
- Rated 16 and rated 18 films mustn't be shown before 10pm.

It's mostly horror movies and porn that's rated 16 or 18, in order not to traumatize children. Also, 'rated 16' means that people under 16 mustn't watch those movies (well, at the cinema at least... *innocent whistle*), no matter whether there's an adult with them or not, and they mustn't buy them on DVD/blu ray/... either.

We can't get guns that easily either, so we don't need to worry too much about them. We don't need the guns either. Who wants to be able to defend against someone else takes courses in self-defense. If you do it correctly, that works as well as a gun does, and there are much less dangers to it. For example, children can steal guns and accidentally kill themselves while they can't steal self-defense skills...

@CountDracula

That is a good idea about learning self defense. Is it taught in school?
