Because the Byzantines are coming back and for them everything is purple.

Who's ready for Game of Thrones to utterly ruin the course of the show farther, to adapt the material in the worst possible way, and to assassinate even more characters, both literally and figuratively?

D&D are fucking hack writers.

There's only three good things about GoT

-Casting
-Soundtrack (cannot state this enough, but that's to the credit of Ramin Djawadi, not the show)
-and visualizing locations and events.

You missed the line about trimming down books 4 and 5 into only a ten-hour slog.

FUCKING THIS TOO.

They cut out literally so much. If Storm of Swords was two seasons, Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons could have been. That's 4 seasons, 4 years, and when Martin comes out with Winds of Winter, that's ANOTHER two years and two seasons.

D&D can't fucking write for shit.

I for one am kind of glad it wasn't a total adaption. That book scene of Dany groaning and shitting wasn't something that would be much fun to watch in show form.

Hardhome was a pretty brilliant part that was different from the books, in the books Jon didn't even go there. In the show he does, we get to see how it goes down and it ends up being one of if not the best episodes in the entire series.

If it makes you feel better, ASOIAF and GoT are different canonically, there's show canon and book canon. You can go on ignoring the show as it's not relevant to the books. The wiki actually explains this pretty well.

Game of Thrones: the TV series is a separate continuity and canon from the books. Though they share many elements, the TV series is not considered canonical for the books and vice versa. This includes the map of Essos on the HBO Viewer's Guide website, which has been rendered non-canonical for the books by the publication of The Lands of Ice and Fire (though it may remain canonical for the TV series).

Straight from it. Don't let the show bug you too much, I hate the film adaption of V for Vendetta but I consider it completely separate from the graphic novel. I can read the comic over and over while ignoring the film. Might be a bit harder to do that with ASOIAF considering there's still two books left in the series and maybe we'll get Winds of Winter before 2018.

I want to say that last season sucked, and that D&D blow, but I seem to have struck the supporting information from my memory.

That doesn't make the show any better lmao.

There's not reason to kill off characters that haven't been killed in the novels, and there's NO FUCKING REASON TO COMPLETELY ASSASSINATE WHO A CHARACTER IS

I WILL NEVER NOT BE BITTER ABOUT MY BOY STANNIS HE'S THE ONLY ONE WORTHY TO SIT ON THAT fucking iron chair.

Also, Shireen, Myrcella, Barristan and Sansa all deserve better than what they got.

I'll just be honest: I have problems with a lot of decisions Georgey has made as a writer, including the whole "let's write from 16^23 perspectives with characters we'll try to kill off and make a really confusing world for everyone!" I don't think it's a good approach. I also don't like how we hop between different continents so frequently. Frankly, there should be a book about the war in the north, another book with a southern perspective, another book about shit happening around the wall, and a book about what's happening with those goddamned dragons, and maybe one last book to FINALLY TIE IT TOGETHER and make a complete story from a limited number of perspectives.

But instead we're led on an infinite goose chase about coming dragons interspersed with tales of non-consensual sex of varying degrees of "oh God why am I reading this?"

EDIT: Let me add this: GRRM does a wonderful job in his story about Duncan the Tall or whatever his name is. It's focused around one character - an actual protagonist and idealistic young knight (who's actually a peasant IIRC) who's living in a truly crapsack world. It doesn't harm GRRM's ability to write about how crapsack the world is, and it still breaks many fantasy norms. It's way better than his shit in the main series of books.

He can write when he actually wants to, but I think he just knows what sells and says "eh, why the fuck not?"

I'm cool with the way the books are paced. I think, when they tried to split it up like you said with AFFC and ADWD, it ended making it more awkward. Maybe it's just a spacial thing, because i've always been pretty good with maps.

The big thing I'd have to dock GRRM for is the way he writes sex scenes. I have no problem with the topic, but he seems to be one of the more uniquely awkward writers when it comes to writing those, so much that it could almost be said HBO treats the subject with more grace. And really, why is nobody talking about his breastfeeding fetish? It sticks out like a sore nipple leaking milk.

I can't say that I'm a massive fan of the novels, either. My problems with the show comes down to A). It sucks now, and B). If you're gonna adapt something, respect the source material try to follow it as best you can.

If you can't, don't gut it and COMPRESS TWO WHOLE BOOKS INTO ONE SHITTY SEASON.
