Alexander frowned and cringed at the sound of Jane's father. He sighed and left, heading to the king. He was thinking he'd be getting a new job. Maybe even a recognition of talent with a heap of gold. He smiled as he approached the palace, quickly making a straight face as he faced the king. "I have returned, your honor." Alexander said, kneeling in front of the king.

The wandering swordsman gave the young men a discerning look, and with his fierce gaze, it appeared to be a hard stare that promised a cold oblivion. That was hardly his intent, but he had quite the intense look. He passed by them, and decided to stop at the promising sign before him. It seemed a Mercenary was looking to hire a sword. He was not a beggar yet, but he didn't feel particularly picky either. It would do him well to have some more coin in his purse. He decided to pay Manik a visit. @Eviledd1984

It was almost certainly the earlier attempt on his life talking, but this smelled like a trap. Paranoia was a predominant trait among the Fae at the best of times. At the same time, the last time someone had really given him a run for his money was decades ago, at least. It might be entertaining to ride out this encounter to the dramatic climax, whatever that may be. The main question was whether she believed him to be an elf, or one of the Fae. Weighing up both options carefully, going with the woman certainly seemed to be the most fun option. Given how long-lived the species actually was, you took it where it came.

“Very well, then. We can square things away with our host and see what we turn up afterwards.” He flashed a wide smile. Besides, if no-one tries to kill me, I’ll even pay the bill. Maybe tonight won’t be so much of a waste after all.

The night air was biting, with only a wisp of a breeze. Street lamps everywhere had been ignited, basking the roads in a warm glow. Up ahead was a relatively modest restaurant, which the two entered, taking a seat. Velethuil scanned the area, patiently awaiting for the inevitable swooping of assassins.

The king whom was speaking to another noble about some personal matters before turning his head to face Alexander,"A hardy welcome to you my boy..I do have some work for you i need you to help a to track down a mute warrior by the name of Xaiver..the group that was tracking him down had left hours ago so you will behind but im sure you can beat them beforehand" He said distinctly looking down at Alexander form his throne."From the intel i was told he would be near the border of Bravado so he would be close...i want him alive...you will be paid more if he is alive" He added.

Once he was inside he could hear Manik yelling and berating a mercenary who had accidentally done something he shouldn't have,"Get outta here.." The fat but strong man yelled out pushing the other merc out of the door before setting his eyes on the young man."Yeah what do ya need?" He said irritably making his way to a table in the far north corner of the room.

Kormac begins to serve his many patrons. It looks like most of the town had turned out, he was glad he had a large stock. However unlike most nights he had his crossbow hidden in his coat. He knew that if the swordsman decided to cause trouble then he would be at a loss for reach with his normal club. He began to ask around, trying to see if any of those present at the roadside tavern had knowledge of a lone mute swordsman.

@Eviledd1984Meldarion's gaze fell on the guy being pushed out, and he paused a moment before he spoke. "I hear you're looking for a sword." he said simply. He didn't even deign to announce who he was. It wasn't his way. His results would speak for themselves, and if he did poorly, he'd simply do better next time. Thankfully, he had not done poorly in many years.

"A mute swordman never heard of one around these parts?" One patron said shaking his head and joining in on a sudden dance and singing."A mute swordsman..can't say i hear of one sorry" Another patron said joining in on the drinking but not the dancing. Luckly for Komac one patron a older looking farm had see a lone swords man riding a black horse but could not make out if he was mute and or form Bravado or Meche.

Xavier could hear the singing and drunken calls of the patrons and worried that he would be found out,He made the up the plan in his mind keeping the tent entrance flap open and motioning for his black horse to stand close so he could make a quick escape if needed.

"Yeah and do ya know how to handle a sword and bow?" The fat man said looking up at him dropping a purse of coins on the table with a soft thud and cling."As you can see im a bit busy so ya gotta answer me right away" He added now staring at Meldarion. He didn't like sissy boys being in his company since they die easily or do the job sloppy.

"If I need one I can go out and buy one, if need be." He patted the sword at his hip to indicate he had that on hand, as always. "If that's good enough for you, what's the job?"

Kormac had made up his mind about the lone swordsman. No lone wanderer or merchant with sound intent would travel with a weapon that large. With suspicious individuals like him trouble would always follow and where trouble follows innocents get hurt. In order to protect those that might get harmed in the wake of Xavier he had decided to follow him. Either as a companion if he was willing or following slowly behind in secret if he was not. He decided to speak his offer of companionship in the morning when he delivered the supplies to the stranger.

After gathering the supplies from town with the coin he earned from a night of business he approached the tent with a few fresh sheets of paper and a pencil. "Good morning friend, i have brought the supplies you asked for. Though if you are willing to take me up on an offer i shall ask no payment and even pass coin on to you. Roads are troubled this time of year and i could do with some muscle, with that sword nobody would want to mess with us. Just tell me where you're heading and i can go there, i have no plans for my next destination and there is safety in numbers."

"I need ya to be the muscles for a caravan that will be leaving in the morning...and a bow will be provided along with any other items you will need for the trip" Meldarion said looking him over before looking back at the pouch of gold."Come back here nine Am sharp if your late then we're heading out without you and you will not paid" He added motioning for him to come back in the morning.

Xavier was awake for the past two hours sharping his sword and working out,Komac would caught the mute doing some push ups.The warrior could see the young mute's body riddled with scars and some old wounds from his time in battle.Stopping for a moment wiping the sweat from his brow before looking to Komac.He had to think quickly and wrote down where he was going,Meche was all he wrote down and if he would asked he would write down he would be visiting a friend.

Putting on his armor walking out side and taking down the tent and feeding his horse.He wondering if Komac would be giving him the teddy bear that he had his eye on.

Kormac packed up his own camp and delivered the gold owed to the local tavern owner with extra to stock up on ale for the next town. He pulled up his caravan next to where Xavier was finishing packing away his tent. From the roof where he drove the two mules he looked down on Xavier, "If i'm going with you then you might as well keep a hold of it for now.", he threw down the teddy to the armored warrior. "You can ride alongside or use your horse to help pull us, your choice. My names Kormac by the way, i dont think we ever swapped them."

Xavier quickly grabbed the bear hugging it as tight as he could with a big smile on his face,Much like a youthful child would holding the most precious thing in the world.After this he put the bear into the carrying sack on his horse and got on his magnificent steed,He would be riding along with the caravan writing down and handing Komac a quick note of paper with his name "Xavier".

Alexander stood after being greeted. He listened closely as the king spoke to him. As soon as the king mentioned that name, Xavier, his eyes got wide with a mix of excitement and nervousness. Who was this Xavier everyone is talking about? Alexander had been out of the loop lately running around for the city, not able to hear the rumors like normal.

"Yes, your honor. I shall bring him back. Alive." He responded, asking no questions.

As the day on the road wanders onward Kormac doesn't talk much. Aware that the note taking would make conversation foolish. However as the dark comes in and Xavier is forced to remain close for lantern light he begins to ramble a little, "You ever heard of a town called Oriath? Small border town between Meche and Escudo. Its where that little fuzzball your cuddling is from. Young farm boy handed it over to me when i left him with his new family. He lives near Meche now, close to the capital, he wants to stay as far away from the border as possible ever since they started getting aggressive. What about you? Any thoughts on Escudo's more dramatic stance on borders?"

@Eviledd1984The wanderer narrowed his eyes. He had just arrived in the city after all. But a job was a job, and he was used to walking this way and that to make a living. He gave a soldiery nod, and turned, striding out into the street. He was never late to a job, but he needed to find something to do in the meantime. Perhaps find a good tavern or general store to browse in. He wasn't picky.

Xavier have heard of it before when he was a young boy he had gone though it with the other Bravado men.He took out the teddy quickly admiring the bear in his hand hugging it and letting out a soft moan like was trying to thank Komac for the kind gesture.Moving closer towards the caravan wondering if the other man could understand him sign language.

It was something he was taught at a young age by a man in the army named Benjamin,Xavier signed to Komac that he he had been there before when he was younger.

His walking would seeing the thieves form before staring at him once more,One of them throwing and caughting a dagger by the hilt with another one smiling at him.

The wanderer stopped in his tracks and gave them a glance that turned into a full blown hard stare. His hand was on his sword hilt, his other hand hidden behind his hip, unbeknownst to the ruffians, very close to his dagger. His gaze was usually considered intimidating enough to halt any young upstarts, but he was ready regardless. "Need something?" he asked them. @Eviledd1984

Kormac noticed the signs, he was fortunate to have learned them from a young deaf boy during the liberation of Oriath. He continued his ramble, "You might not want to go there these days, the Escudo have turned it into a military fort. I was ordered to take it down for them, and in a way i did, if you count taking every woman and child over the mountains to safety in Meche."

Xavier started to sign to Komac that he was glad the the innocent were brought to safety,He then signed that he wanted to thank him properly for the supplies and the bear telling him that he loved the teddy.Moving closer towards the caravan with his horse noticing a guard post that he was dreading because he did not want to be seen.
