"Yes, that is a WONDERFUL idea..." Taroyn muttered through gritted teeth and shook his head. "With what exactly would you, li'll miss, suggest we keep that damned beast inside? With sticks and harsh language? I doubt the walls and the door hold such a beast for long." The dark elf rolled his eyes and spat on the ground while still holding his shoulder. He had came to the conclusion that for now keeping the sliver of metal in the wound would do him less harm than actually removing it - after all it kept some of the blood from coming out.

Eve arrived and looked at Taroyn "I could heal that for you. Here, take this too."

She took the cloak of rage off and handed it to Taroyn and while he wasn't paying attention she pulled the sliver out and put her hand on the wound and started chanting. The expression on his face told her how much that hurt but to his credit he held still. "I'll do my best to hold him in there if you guys can weaken him."

To Taroyn she said, "Put that cloak on." Then she put her power into holding the beast in the barn. "Hurry!"

Rockmar swung his axe at the beast's feet. He was trying to trip it more than striking it with his axe this time. "June, Jason! Everybody, get out of the barn! Out!" Rockmar will make sure he's the last of the party out of the barn. He will hold his axe like a spear, trying to keep the beast inside of the barn as he backed out of the burning building.

"You do realize that I am UNARMED? If that damn thing does what I think it does it will not help us in any way." Taroyn spat on the ground and shook his head. "A dull blade cannot cut and a swordsman without a sword cannot fight." His kind were cunning at least that had to be admitted. While the dark elf spoke he was already forming up a plan - a plan that wouldn't put himself in too much peril. "My kind can create magical darkness to an area at will for a ...rough amount of time... If there was a way to first disorient the beast I could confuse it further with the spell of darkness and... It might have more difficulty finding an exit - assuming the damn thing doesn't charge through the walls..." The dark elf straightened up and smiled faintly as he gripped the cloak with his left hand. "Now if it were to try coming through the walls... We'd at least know where it's coming from and could create an ambush."

"What?" Eve glanced at him. "Whatever, If you can't use the cloak give it to one of the others. I have to focus or we won't have enough time. As it is I am going to pay for this." Eve put all of her concentration in holding the beast inside the fiery remains of the barn.

June heard Rockmar yell for everyone to get out of the barn so she did just that dashed through the opening they had home in through to the ground of people outside. She hoped Rockmar would be alright on his own with the beast.

As the flames took over the hay-filled, dry barn, Eve's magic successfully held the hound inside the building until everyone was able to escape. For a few tense moments, it may seem like the fight was over.

But then the beast burst forth through the doorway, spear still stuck in its shoulder and obviously favoring that side. It bled from multiple wounds. The hair around it's chest and down it's back was actually on fire, giving the red-eyed hound an even more demonic and sinister look than before. Briefly it looked toward June (who carries the lion shield), but then turned its attention to Rockmar, running toward, intending to bite the half-orc as the spear prevented it from lunged with it's sharp claws...

Everything was happening pretty fast from Jason's point of view. It went from a one one inside a barn to people running out of a burning barn. Jason managed to escape the burning barn. He looked for something special to him. The thing that made the tapping noise. Jason was close enough to the half orc when the beast jumped out. "Dammit." Jason moved in the way with his left arm up causing the beast to bite down on Jason left arm.

Rockmar couldn't believe what Jason had done. Jason jumped in front the beast and saved Rockmar's life. No matter Jason's harsh words earlier about not being Rockmar's friend, he knew that deep down, Jason really cared. He truly cared.

Rockmar saw red at what the beast was doing to his Friend Jason. "Let him go! Let go of my friend! I'll kill you beast! Let Jason go!" The whole time Rockmar was screaming yelling, he's hacked the beast with his great axe. He tried to swing from a direction to not hit Jason with any follow through, but right then, he was more concerned with hitting the hard. Not so much of where he hit, only that it was a good hard blow.

Eve once again focussed her powers on containing the beast in an invisible barrier so it couldn't attack them. Her energy was draining and her boost from before was now gone.

The hound sunk his teeth down hard on Jason's arm. It pulled hard then, as if trying to actually tear the man's limb off, but Eve's struggle to contain the beast was paying off, forcing it to move slower than it might have otherwise.

Rockmar's axe sunk into the creature's ribs and it stumbled forward, starting to fall. But even before the beast finished falling, it transforms into a mist and disappears...

Cedric's attention had been almost completely on the hound, but now he turned, quickly surveying his companions to see who was critically hurt and his heart nearly jumped into his throat as he spotted a drow standing behind Eve! "EVE! LOOK OUT!"

"No, Cedric! that is Tarquin's brother, Taroyn. He is our friend." Eve went to Jason and put both of her hands on his wounded arm and she healed it almost all the way before she collapsed. Eve was unconscious.

Wimena looked around wildly as the beast disappeared, as if the creature might ambush them from the shadows of elsewhere. Yet the town was empty, save for the battered combatants. She eyed Taroyn with a slight hesitance, Eve's vague explanation doing little to subdue her tenseness or befuddlement. "But I thought his brother was...?" The halfling sighed and shook her head, quickly moving to the fallen woman's side. "We'll talk about this tomorrow. Right now we have to recover and make sure the townspeople are okay." Her words slurred slightly. The claw wounds from the beast had been reduced to a dull ache as she forced herself to remain standing.

Rockmar breathed heavily and panted to catch his breath. He looked around to see if the beast was coming back. Once he knew the beast was gone, he checked on his teammates. It was then that he saw Eve on the ground. He quickly knelt next to her. She was breathing and not bleeding. He carefully picked her up and carried her towards the town hall.

He noted to Taroyn. "I saw what you did to the beast. Thank you for your help." Rockmar had been judged by others his whole life because of who his father was. He wasn't about to judge Taroyn before he knew him.

"Yes, June, I am alright. I just need to allow my orcish blood to cool." Then rising his voice he asked, "Is everybody else alright? Anybody bleeding? Anybody need help? Wimena, are you alright?"

Wimena pressed a hand to her wound and winced. Pulling her hand away, she saw red glistening on her skin. "That isn't good..." she mumbled, her head beginning to spin. "The beast...it managed to nick me."

Felmar collapses outside the front of the town hall, grief-stricken. "My...my barn. It's completely ruined. How will I...?" Felmar dejectedly sits against the door of the Hall. "I can't come back from this, not again. These beasts have it out for me."

Jason was able to catch a breath now that the beast was gone. Jason stood up and looked at his arm. The bite wound was nearly healed by the girl but he still had an impressive gash from its claws. "Looks like I got a thing or two to fix." He looked around the rubble of the burned down barn. "You spent enough time hiding you bastard. Let's go." With those words said. The rubble of the building began to move. What pooped out was very strange. It was a construct that looked like a big spider. It ran swiftly up to Jason and crawled onto his back. It's legs wrapped and interlocked forming a strange looking back pack. "Thanks for the help everyone." Jason turned around and began to walk off. He was hoping to rest and handle the gash in his arm.

When Cedric yelled out for Eve to look out Taroyn immediately cast the spell of darkness around himself and sneaked back to his gear. After a while he returned as Tarquin - fully dressed again - with a little, sheepish smile on his lips. "I guess I need to explain the lot of you a bit or two - mostly to clarify things and avoid any unfortunate overreactions." The tall elf glanced at Cedric and winked. "I will however explain things after a meal." His attention turned to Rockmar and the elf made a very proper bow. "No need for thanks. We are all in this toghether, remember?"

Eve slept until darkness the next day. Everyone remembered the tale of the constable about the hound disappearing and coming back the next day. The townsfolk seemed more tense but hopeful. The ladies of the village tended to Eve and made certain that she was protected and cared for while her body was regaining it's strength.
