After Rockmar placed Eve in the care of the village women, he continued to pace the great hall. His blood was still raging with battle lust. He needed some time for his orcish blood to cool off. Sometime during his pacing he removed his bear helmet and tossed it at his backpack sitting on the corner. Once he was feeling better he checked with each of the members of the company and talked with them. He was glad to see the injured were being cared for by the village womenfolk.

Rockmar came and sat down next to the villager who owned the barn. "I am sorry about your barn. It was just bad luck. Are you alright? I am called Rockmar Roughneck. You know we are from the ship out in the harbor? Once we learn how to kill the beast and kill it or seal it in a cage forever, we will be leaving here. We always need more members of our company. Do you care to join us?"

Felmar looks up at the enquiring warrior. "Yeah well..." Felmar sighs."Thank you. For saving the town. That thing would've done damage to more than just the barn... I suppose I've got nothing left to keep me here but, word of warning, I'm a terrible fighter. But I could maintain your weapons." Felmar stands and then bows to Rockmar. "Felmar the Meek, at your service. When you decide to leave, I'll be here."

The merchant walks to help panicking peasants at the back of the hall.

Cedric followed Rockmar, very worried about Eve ... and still about the drow, not quite sure if it was Tarquin or not. He looked back to see the halfling holding her hand to her stomach, the still smoldering light from the fire letting him see that she was injured. "Wimena!" He hurried back to help her. "Can you walk to the hall? Do you need help?!"

Leofwine looked to those that risked their lives trying to slay the beast, but still felt burdened by the threat of the hound. "Thank you all for what you have done. I am thankful that no one lost their life tonight, but I cannot help but fear that we have not seen the last of the monster."

He turned to look at the man that had lost his barn, "Felmar, I won't blame you if you decide to leave us after this is all said and done." Although no one had come to him directly, Leofwine suspected that there was plenty of folk planning to leave their still-young community and go back to the mainland.

Jason walked up to Leofwine. He was wrapping up the gash in his arm. "I would like to speak to you privately. It concerns a manor of stopping the beast. First question, is there some sort of library we can go too? I think I have an idea of what to do." Jason sat down to catch a breath. "I will warn you, you won't like the conversation." Jason took off his back park and was going through it. He pulled out a small bag of tools. He opened the bag and began using the tools to fix his consruct. Being in a burning barn wasn't the best condition for it.

The constable scrunched his eyes, seemingly caught off guard by the question. "Library... no, no library. I'm sorry." He said, heading toward a private corner of the hall at Jason's request. "Although, Father Beacom keeps a small collection in the chapel. I myself also have a small collection. Are you searching for a particular tome?"

Finishing up a bandage on a civilian, Felmar turned to face the war torn fighter,"Cedric was it? Heh, I'm not one for a quitter plus what kind of man wouldn't lend a hand to his rescuers."

Rockmar sat and he thought and thought. He thought so much that his head hurt. But he did have an idea. He wanted to go inside that stone church. Maybe there would be clues inside of how to defeat the beast for good. He saw the constable and Jason talking in the corner. Since they were not busy, he rushed to them. "Hello Jason. I wanted to thank you for saying my life today. The beast could have killed me. And you tied it up enough that we could defeat it... At least for tonight. That's why I'm here. Constable, can we go see the inside of the church? Maybe tonight or would tomorrow be better?"

Tarquin had not explained anyting to anyone. When the group had returned to the hall the tall elf had slipped away to have a word - and a rather rude wakw up - with the local blacksmith.

Though the blacksmith had been at first rather sour his attitude had swiftly changed when the bard had emptied a pouch of gold coins in the man's hand while examining the few weapons the blacksmith had in stock.

Some time later Tarquin had returned to the hall with two daggers strapped on his thigh and a new, quite wide blades thrusting sword at his hip. Also judging by the little clinking when he moved his hands there were a pair of knives strapped to his forearms as well.

Sara was helping the ladies take care of Eve and she got up the courage to check on the travelers who had taken on the small town's burden. She went to the halfling and had her lay down while she took a look at her cut. She washed the cut out and applied a poultice that was wonderful at pulling out the poisons if there were any. She wrapped her and told her to keep it on for an hour then they would apply a different dressing.

Sara wasn't sure who all was hurt so she went to ask each of them. She walked past Cedric and he looked fine, so did June and Rockmar. She saw Tarquin come in and wondered about him. Sara walked right up to him and asked him. "Sir were you hurt in the battle? Do you require medical attention?"

Leofwine looked toward the half-orc as he joined Jason and himself in the corner of the hall. "Of course," he answered. "Father Beacom will almost certainly be there to lecture you on the salvation of your soul, but I've never known him to turn anyone away, day or night."

"Thank you, Lord Lerfwine." He nodded to Jason as he left. Rockmar spoke to Wimena, June, Felmar, Cedric. But not Tarquin. He didn't want to start a fight with Father Beacom. He let them know he was going to visit the 'good' Father. "I only want to take people who can make nice-nice with Father Beacon." He hoped to find some pictures or carvings like they found in the cave.

He quickly ate his stew before preparing to head out to the stone church.

"Whose coming with me?"

@Marcus XVI Tarquin didn't say anything to her and she didn't see any wounds so she walked on to Felmar. To ask him if he knew of anything that the travellers needed.@Severe Triage When she saw him and Cedric she became a little shy. "Excuse me but do you need anything?"

While shoving the remaining belongings that he'd taken with him before the fire into a shoddy bag, Felmar walked over to the group. "I'll need to inform the Father of my leaving so I'll tag along."

The merchant trying to stop the bag from tearing at the seams turns to distractedly towards the girl. "Uuuuh, maybe. I don't know if the..." Felmar looked at her. "Oh, you lived here in the town, right? Then you wouldnt happen to know where we could get a surplus of food or something?"

"Just what the ladies have brought into the building for everyone. I brought a few loaves of bread with me." Sara replied. "Are either of you injured?" Sara hoped she wasn't staring and she blushed at them.@Severe Triage@Kelewen

Rockmar walked over to Cedric and Felmer, "Felmer, do you think you could introduce us to the father?" Of course, Rockmar being Rockmar, he couldn't help noticing the young girl speaking to the two men. He nodded to her and said, "Greetin', Lass."

Sara looked up at the half Orc and he seemed to be nice but he intimidated her a little bit and she smiled, nodded and turned and walked to the constable and Jason.

She took one look at the bandages that were only partially hanging on. Sara listened to them talking and she just started working on his arm. Sara noticed it was healed very well. There was only part of it that still needed care and that wasn't too bad. She smiled.

Sara had been outside of the main building when the fight had gone on. She had been watching from the bakery. Sara saw what the witch had done. She was hoping that once this was all over they would take her with them when they left.

When she finished wrapping his arm she looked up and noticed that Jason was now standing by himself and was looking at her with a smile on his face. She blushed. "I hope you don't mind. I just thought I could help."

Felmer glanced at Rockmar. "Hmm, I would rather have kept it as short as possible. I'm sure you've heard his ramblings of..." Felmer overly exaggerates an impression of the Father. "...Diiiiviiine retribution." He looks at Rockmar. "The man has completely lost it." He sighs, "but sure. The old bugger owes me for crops I stocked up over a famine period anyway."

Jason walked with Leofwine. "If it's a hellhound then I was wondering if there were any books here on the subject of infernal." Jason looked as Rockmar who thanked him for saving his life. After Rockmar walked away, Jason turned back to Leofwine. "I know infernal isn't a good topic. Hellhounds however can understand that language. Im sure you know where im going with this." Jason stopped talking as he noticed Sara tending to his wound. As she had a very close look at the wound on Jason's arm, she would notice something strange. There not a single drop of blood on the bandages that covered the wound. If she tried to inspect his arm further, she may notice other things as well. Jason looked down at her with a smile. "Thank you. You sure wrapped it better than I did. Are you okay? I know that beast has done a number on this town."

Sara nodded. "I am alright. However, the hound scared my father into a heart attack. I was wondering...would it be alright if I came with you when you leave here? There is nothing left for me here now." She wondered if she sounded like a crazy person. There was certainly nothing sane about this island.

"I was wondering something else too. Why is there no blood on the bandages that were on your arm that I took off. I know Eve was trying to heal you when she collapsed but I don't think that was all of it."

"Unfortunately, I have nothing of the sort in my collection," Leofwine told Jason. "It wouldn't hurt to check with Father Beacom though."

The constable excused himself as Sara started tending the man's wound. At least for tonight he felt safe enough to close his eyes and get some real, desperately needed rest...

--

Felmer, Cedric, Rockmar (and anyone else accompanying them)...

The dreary fog still clings to the island, shrouding the stone chapel in an eerie mist. All is quiet as the late night guests approach the heavy wooden door...
