Working on it! Gimmie a few hours, I'm multi-tasking between homework, this, and friends blowing up my phone at the moment. I'd be amazed if I can focus at all...

I have a good chunk of my post written, but homework is seriously crushing me right now.

Was gonna wait for a Potato post, but I changed my mind. Here's two of the three characters... I'm off to bed.

I would've thought Gems that were abruptly stolen away from their homes, lives, families, friends, and everything they knew would be a little more afraid when a Drakken tells them they're fine, or if one of them said that they weren't a Drakken.

Sort of odd how many Gems here don't seem to mind leaving behind everything they knew and loved. Or hated, in some cases, but I doubt one would be so positive-minded when they're in the midst of those people who steal people, and threaten war as easily as a merchant might try to entice you with his wares.

Something I've sort of noted.

@WilsonTurner I dunno about the other people but I intend for the full mental realization of "holy shoot I'm on my own with a lustful bloodthirsty monster" to settle over the twins in about three hours in-game. Once everything calms down and they have a second for reflection.

Onyx is a little... loony. Her imagination borders on schizophrenia, so She's lucky she's not been in any danger yet. She doesn't process things the same way as everyone else, and reacts as if life is a book she's reading. She doesn't realize the reality around her is something to be wary of, so she's the one I get to use to point out and exploit irony

She'll realize eventually, I think. Kinda depends on how Kai treats her.

Nadia is actually terrified and scared out of her mind, and sad beyond words. She loved her family, and is probably going to try and run away or kill herself or something once things start to go bad unless she can learn to love Exon. She's too fragile to put up a fight, and her mentality is practically broken already from being torn away from her life and forced into this. She's not going to get through the night without breaking down in some way.

I can't speak for anyone else, but implanting Lienna as a survivor. Self-preservation is a very powerful instinct, and the mind is capable of convincing itself of a lot in order to preserve life. Think of Stockholm syndrome or something of the like. Obviously not exactly, but you get the point I'm going for.

I've always wanted to play Lienna as a darker character, whose only concern is making life as easy as possible for herself, given the circumstances. A lot of that is symbolized in water (which admittedly, I did a better job of writing last time; but cut me some slack I'm two posts in, I'm still getting into the swing of things). Her mother has also been sort of subliminally preparing her for this lifestyle all her life.

As well, she's always got that little bit of crazy to her, in the name of preservation. She grew up in a hard place where no one wanted her around; that does shit to ya. Think of Cersei Lannister for a vague comparison. She does some fucked up stuff in the name of self preservation and the safety of her children; I'm going that route with a bit more acceptance of what's going on here.

So guys, the city concert band played at my school concert the other night (our band kinda.. opened for them XD) and of course they were amazing, and they played this piece (Earthdance by Michael Sweeney) and it reminded me of something the Gems might play. It's a celebration of life and nature and it is amazing.

That's a piece we tried to learn for festival last year. Of course we couldn't figure out how to properly play it because my band sucks but oh my goodness I love that piece!

@RomanAria Ugh, the band one level lower than mine at a band camp one summer learned this and I am eternally jealous. Then again, we got to play Nevermore that year so that was pretty awesome.

But I love Earthdance so much, it makes my soul swell with happiness! XD Ever tried to learn Variations on a Korean Folksong by John Barnes Chance? That shit is nigh-impossible.

Was going to wait til my hubby notices me, but I guess Kalani can roam free for a post. xD

@Obscene Symphony ooh I've heard it before but never tried to learn it. For reference, I'm in two bands, one of which only plays pieces that were written at least 40 years ago, or have some special significance to the director. The other band struggles with any pieces that are above a 2.0 difficulty.

I really wanted to do Molly on the Shore, (I think it's by Percy Grainger?) for festival this year. Because omg that clarinet solo in the beginning (yes I'm a narcissistic butt who wanted to get the glory of being a soloist with the band in front of a panel of judges). But then the director listened to it and said... "Well the first 30 seconds of it would be good but do you not think that's a little too ambitious for everyone else?"

But I really can't complain. This year (If we're even going to festival, I dunno if we are) I do still get a solo. The flute solo (Which none of the flutes can even name the notes of, let alone PLAY) on Amparito Roca by Jaime Texidor. That thing goes sooo freaking high and is super-super exposed. D:

Kasari I wrote to be like the physical embodiment of the element fire. Bold and bright and beautiful all at the same time. She might be scared but she's too stubborn to show it, not to Drakken scum. That mixed with the fact that the Drakken who chose her is not much taller than herself... She'll be wary, but for now she's just too tired to be worried.

Sorrin on the other hand was terrified. Absolutely so, but she isn't the brightest crayon in the box. If anyone had told her she was alright she would have believed them, whether they were being truthful or not. It's the confusion over the non-Drakken Drakken that would upset her, but she already has it in her mind that Sia will take care of her.

It wouldn't be any fun if they were all snivelling the whole time. These personaloties set up for drama and betrayal! It's gonna be a great time. ...That and I really don't know how to react to a character that would willingly blow his own cover like that sooooooo. XD
