So with you as a Sanctioned Pysker, we have 3 people who know (more or less) what they want to do. As far as I know, our current squad compisition is this:

2 Santioned Psykers - You and MaxxRocker
1 Heavy Weapons - Me

Though we still have comrades and @Sleeth still needs to choose when he comes back.

So what's better than one potential walking disaster? TWO walking disasters, obviously. I feel sorry for whomever is stuck in charge of this squad already. Since I already am halfway to the first Malignancy test, since an unfortunate 1d5 roll for starting corruption.

I already used the 300xp that support specialists start with to give my comrade Ultimate Sanction. I have a feeling it'll be needed. Looking forward to seeing this squad get to work.

I Mulled it over, and decided I'll be rolling with a Sergeant. In terms of regiment, I'm leaning towards the Maccabian 1347th Janissaries.

The stats were rolled up using the WOTC dice-roller, have some screencaps. I got a bunch of 17's.

I couldn't quite fit them into a single image, unfortunately.

Edit: I didn't bother with the standard free re-roll, since my rolls seem solid enough as is, and I'd rather not push my luck.

Capped the roll for wounds and got 1 Fate Point.

I can just imagine the local commissar walking up to us, seeing the two psykers, and then just nope'ing the hell out of there, heh.
Also, I doubt mutations will be...good, at least while we are still in the firmly Imperial areas - maybe some other places are more accepting.

But yeah, all in all it'll be good to see how this squad functions out on the field and it'll at least be fun seeing how long we last before daemons start pouring out of either psyker.

Well, we got our Sergeant. A Janissary. Oh lord, we got two psykers, and our Sergeant is a Janissary. This is going to be glorious.

In between the games of "Dodge the Blam" and "Duck, Duck, Daemonic Possession", I can only imagine the squad self destructing from conflicting ideologies and abilities. I'm betting the first time a power gets pushed, who wants to take that bet?

As more and more people announce what regiment they want to be from, the more and more I feel a sensation that we're all going to get BLAM'd or otherwise maimed horribly.

First time a power goes off? Sure. The Janissaries are...strict, to put it lightly.
I think my Heavy weapons will be okay, he's from a local Death World regiment (Death world in a same subsystem) and generally will probably be a bit more broish.

Well, when the environment you're fighting in tends to be more dangerous than the enemies your fighting, blamming any advantage you can get your hands on, probably ain't a good idea. Just wait until we get a Mordian medic and Catachan weapon specialist. Just to make things absolutely batshit.

But I'm kinda looking forward to seeing the psykers explode/implode/stop existing/spawn daemons/BLAMing. I am perfectly fine rerolling up new characters and filling missing spots as needed, so let RNGesus do his worst.

Nah man, gotta be a Krieg Medic! Heartless care for the wounded, that'd make things...if not insane, then extremely creepy.

Yeah, most of the fun of Only War is seeing just how long you manage to last before eventually being turned into mincemeat/serving as a daemon conduit/blammed.

Add in a Commissar just to see who blams the psykers first. The Janissary, the Commissar, or the Krieg Medic who is more concerned with salvaging anything useful than actually saving their lives.

This is obvious, I mean, every time I look at those critical hit charts, it is just begging for things to go horribly wrong/right. Granted, so is the Perils charts. I am sorely tempted to push all the powers for the sole fact of getting to roll on those. And get blammed by the saner party members after the first time. That miiiight be why Alpha Legionnaire psyker died, pushing warp powers for no good discernible reason.

Given the highly psychic nature of the party, we'd probably end up getting an NPC commissar attached purely to ensure that the two psykers stay in check. Though I imagine BLAMing would only really occur if you managed to manifest something truly horrific/warpy/daemonic. So maybe the Janissary.

Oh yeah, in one session I managed to go through like seven characters after each managed to be critically hit by Chaos Space Marines we were holding off. Many bloody-filled explosions and bone fragments. But yeh, if you're trying to SURVIVE as a Psyker, then fettered power is the way to go and only using powers when absolutely needed... or there is the fun way.

I was expecting the NPC Blam-issar with one Pysker, let alone two? Witchhunters be coming sniffing about before this campaign is over, I'm betting. Hell, I expect my Psyker's Comrade to end up pseudo blamming him at some point, just to possibly roll a less damaging/more hilarious Perils.

The fun way, you mean the only way, right? Besides, unfettered isn't too terrible, it only rolls perils on doubles. Pushed, however, is another story completely. Besides, running around blasting everything with psyker force is clearly the proper response. Besides, you don't have to reload a psyker. Replace them? Sure, but they don't reload.

Indeed, the Imperium takes Psykers far more seriously than any other faction in the galaxy. (aside from Tau, since they literally have no Psykers, that we know of.) So yeah, even if it wasn't a full commissar, it'd at least be a commissar cadet so they get proper experience with 'restoring squad morale and ensuring true loyalty.'

The only way sounds about right. Why bother with fiddly little powers then you can fire endless streams of mindbullets? The only downside being potential for becoming an inside-out horror monster. Pushed is awesome for those moments where maximum power is needed - its even more funny when the psyker fails hilariously. But yeh, replacing is easier than repairing when it comes to the psykers - plus humanity is becoming more and more psychic.

Yeah, Imperium is serious business with their Psykers. Doesn't mean they are stable, by any means (Well, Librarians typically are, but they cheat), and I think a Commissar cadet would blue screen at the sheer psyker rawness going on.

Precisely! Just smite/throw the environment at things/mindbullet your way to victory/death. And hey, becoming an inside-out horror monster could be an advantage if you do so in the midst of the enemy ranks. Since all the now inside-out horror monster cares about is murdering everything within arm's reach, and the sudden daemonic abomination miiiight be a bit more pressing than the guardsmen rapidly running away. Pushing powers, while cool in concept, really doesn't seem overly justifiable. But hell, more power is always good.

Yeah, if anything the Imperium's psykers are some of the least stable and most prone to daemonic possession and whatnot (not counting untrained psykers of course, because they don't even know they have powers.) We need to see that at some point, our mixed regiment standing to attention and causing a commissar to have a heart attack due to the number of psykers we have.

That is, quite a smart idea actually. Provided you aren't BLAM'd first. Since I imagine said horror monster is probably able to rip apart/blast with mindbullets most things it is fighting (daemons are no joke, unless you play Wardian Grey Knights) and generally turn everything into pulp. But yeah, an interesting strategy - given that all sensible people would run from that.

Oh, absolutely. Especially if there has been reports of unusual (Read, lesser Perils) happenings going on at the front. And yea, most Imperial psykers are kind of prone to exploding/having critical existence failures. This is starting to remind me of /tg/'s 1st Membranes. An entire regiment of paranoid, schizo psykers. It is hilarious as it is absolute bloody mayhem.

It works better for Chaos forces, since they are more likely to throw warp spawned abominations into the fray then they are to simply spaz out and start blamming anything with the slightest taint of the warp floating around. And if one thing Dark Heresy has taught me, its that if a daemon shows up, you're probably going to be losing PC's. Lucky if you don't lose the whole party, since a lot of them take the term "schmuck bait" to a whole new level. Kind of fair, since Inquisitors seem to always be bastards to their acolytes.

Yeah, given the general nature of the front I imagine we'd have some sorts of perils happening (if the general composition of the party is anything to go off of.) So having multiple 'psyker control squads' hanging around to ensure critical existence crisis don't occur. The 1st Membranes - "We either scythe down hundreds of foes with psychic mind bullets, or scream about the stuff coming out of the walls."

Definitely, if anything turning into a daemon would be seen as a massive honour amongst the chaos forces - probably even a cause of jealousy for some lords or sorcerers given that daemonhood is what they all want to achieve. But yeah, daemons are terrible to have to fight but those who kill them may end up like Grendel.

Like, seriously surprised, RNGesus loves me periling every single psyker power I use. And I fully support the idea of 'psyker control squads' running around adding extra drama to the psykers of the group being paranoid.

Oh yea, Chaos forces seemed to be obsessed with ascending to daemonprincedom because that is all that is always cracked up to be. And it never backfires on them, it never does. And sometimes killing the daemons just make things so much worse, because they can never leave well enough alone. Nurgle, I am looking at you and your damn zombie plagues/corpses exploding into giant spore clouds of flesh melting horror. Yea, you're showing your love real well.

I've finished my character sheet, now all that's missing is a separate write-up detailing background and personality, as is par for the course.

However, something is holding me up. Is there a site I can upload the finished CS to, or will a simple screenshot suffice?

Or explode - the fate of basically every human psyker ever (seriously, not even the Codex has accounts of Guard psykers lasting more than a few battles). Yeah, RNGesus can be genuinely quite fickle at times, like the time I was in another session and I used my first power of the game - immediately turned into a daemonhost before being summarily BLAM'd by the local commissar... But yeah, the squads could add to the drama.

I don't see the point of becoming a daemon (other than immortality, basically being impossible to kill forever, and all their wacky powers) since you're confined to the Warp where Slaanesh will slowly whisper sweet nothings to you while Tzeentch plots your eventual death, oh, and look out for Khorne if you're a Psyker... But yeah.

@Moonman I imagine a few screenshots of the thing will be sufficient. When I tried to upload a character sheet in PDF format, it wouldn't show any of the text - so a screen shot is likely best. Can't speak for what @Natsucooldude wants, but I'd imagine he'd be fine with it.

Seriously, being a psyker pretty much promises that you are made of explodium, to some degree or another. Usually, you explode and do more damage to your squad than the enemy, but if you're lucky, the explosion might take some suckers that are actual enemies with you. And that sounds almost precisely what I expect to happen, but what's life without some risk, eh? But imagine, if there are entire squads dedicated to roving around to watch psykers, how many of them there would have to be?

Don't forget Nurgle spreading his love for all his minions. Through crippling, debilitating disease. But yea, apparently that is enough to tempt all those crazy warlords and sorcerers to plot, scheme, or just rage murder their way through the Imperium/Xenos/Other Chaos Warbands for the sole purpose of gaining favor with their god of choice. Or any of them, for those undivided fellows.
