Welcome to Skyrim

Not long after the Dawn of the Fourth Era, specifically 4E 201, a drastic turn in the Province of Skyrim's status lead to nothing but bloodshed. Two sides would engage in a Year's worth of war and oppression, one side being the Imperials of the Empire, the other being the Nords of Skyrim who denied the Empire's signing of the White-Gold Concordat with the Aldmeri Dominion, as well as accusing the Empire of restricting their beliefs in Talos. Suddenly, Skyrim's people were plunged into a seemingly never-ending conflict that tore families, comrades, clans and cities apart, stripping them of the glory they once held under their Province's name. Known as either the Stormcloak Rebellion [To the Imperials] and the Great Uprising [To the Stormcloaks], or simply shortened to the Civil War, Iron and Steel from either side began to tore through the Flesh and Bone of the Land's people. Many other Races began to feel the pressure of oppression, being crushed under its savage ways until they were nothing but among the dirt of the Land's surface. These events were going to shape the History, and very outcome, of what happens to the Land. Whether Skyrim was destined to be the Nord's land, or the Imperials were going to uphold their crumbling Empire through every Forest, Marshland, Hold and Mountain. Yet as the Battles began to arise, civilisations barely involved in the Political and Militaristic manners were thrown into the deepest ends of Skyrim's shadows, forming vast numbers of Bandit Groups, Clans and Cults keen on passing on more havoc to those who hadn't received their Fair Share.

And now, it comes down to the people. In the Hold of Falkreath was the approaching time to succumb to a drastic decision. The War was catching up to them, and with whatever Race, land or belief they originated from, there was a decision to be made. Who were they going to side with? Whether they were going to encourage the Imperial ways and join the Legionaries of the Empire, defy their own Government to feature themselves in the ranks of the Stormcloak Army, or simply turn to other ways to fit into the havoc of the land...It had to be made. And with the War beginning to take a major turn without anyone's favour, nothing was going to be the same ever again. So, let's find out this...Are the People of this Hold, this Province, going to take their place in the Civil War, or are they going to find a way to put themselves as far from it? The biggest question of all, however, is will anyone prepare for the upcoming tyranny that not only Skyrim will have to face, but Tamriel itself?

So, hello. This is my brief-ish idea for a Non-Canon Elder Scrolls: V [Skyrim] Mid-High Casual Roleplay. Taking place during the actual events itself [Though technically the Outcome of the War is not Canon, seeing as it can be decided either way within the franchise], it'll feature almost completely different Characters, events and general things. I'm still working on how it'll be merged in, the whole Non-Canon to Canon feature, and where it'll most likely lead. A quick point, I'm not looking for a Dragonborn, and I'm pretty sure this Roleplay will not include one, or at least have one be shown.

So, what's this about? Well to sum it up, I've had the idea of going straight to the viewpoints of the People of Skyrim [Originality clearly doesn't exist in this idea], and so revolving around the Civil War of the Land. Starting in the Main Focus for the Roleplay, the Hold of Falkreath, it'll have decisions revolving around who to side for, ignoring the whole War as best as possible or to get themselves involved deeply with the other Organisations that have been dotted around the entirety of Skyrim. Whether you decide to stay as a Bard, though find yourself deep within a Bandit Plot against the Hold, or become a Legionary Ranker on the Front of the War, it should be up to you! One thing I would like to request for is if anyone wants to restrict this. As enjoyable as I would see the Roleplay divide themselves amongst each side, even staying away from the conflict, I can see a few issues. Firstly, you'd have the interactions. It might limit certain interactions with other Characters, of course, which isn't something I would particularly like, yet it can swing whatever way you want. The other issue, would be the thing Skyrim is mainly focused around...Dragons. Depending on what sort of time-period we set this in, still going by the Non-Canon rules, the return of the Dragons would find themselves slipping into the Roleplay's setting during the middle of the experience. This is obviously debatable, which I'd like to see briefly discussed in this Interest Check if you happen to find yourself interested, though having this could also open an entirely new route for Characters, such as the Blades. This whole Roleplay Idea is a bit all over the place, I know, and can seem crapply organised at this point, but I still am highly interested myself in making this. Having all these dilemmas, such as Bandits, Wars, Clans, Dragons, Habitants and even general disputes between two individuals can make for a great experience [At least that's what I hope.]. It won't centre itself, hopefully, around the best of the best, having people who are struggling with the whole situation the Province has found itself plunged into, even if they are an extremely good fighter...Or chef? It'd see their progression in the involvement of all the affairs, mainly the larger ones, and how they begin to assist in the ever-changing fate of Skyrim. So, without further-a-due, I would like to make this idea a small, debatable topic for those who would like to see something like this made. Thanks for reading this, and I hope I have caught your interest!

I'm interested. It sounds fun. I'm a little confused and not sure if I'm reading it correctly. Will the characters travel alone after their own goals or will they be together, like a party or company and fight in the war? Will the war be the big backdrop for the characters?

@GarthI see you do have a few good questions!

1. I'd hope to get as many into groups as possible, hopefully balanced. I may not have mentioned that very well, my bad. But pursuing their goals could be a part of it, until we organise the Dragons' return.

2. The war is the main backdrop, to some extent. It will be one of the three majn focuses, and a lot of it might, if not directly used, be effected by its progression.

I'd be interested if I'm not expected to write up a single novel per post like some of these RPs. I can do a paragraph maybe two if there's enough going on but I refuse to do two paragraphs consisting of nothing but internal monologue coupled by another three paragraphs describing that fucking dew on the grass in the morning. (I don't mean to come off as abrasive but I know I often do, apologies.)

@BurningColdThe thread will have a rule that doesn't combat what you want. In all my High Casual RPs, I refer to grammar and sentence structuring, rather than length. I have a rule in every RP where about a paragraph of writing, 5-6 sentences, is the minimum. Don't worry, there's no max limit, but if you only want to write a paragraph, go for it.

@LetMeDoStuff So how would you feel about Snow Elf character? I've played one in the past but never managed to develop that character very much, which is a shame because I would definitely like to.

@PirouetteI should be fine with that! I'm open to most races, but using The Standard Imperials and Nords would be a good idea, if you choose to follow a path's beliefs.

So, here's a topic...What Characters are going to be used NPC-Wise? Seeing as it isn't really canon, do we want there to be a change in characters, at least for the major Characters. Obviously all the citizens would be created by us, but what about the Jarls, Generals etc? Should I make new ones or refer to the canon ones?

@LetMeDoStuff Mhm. A Snow Elf would probably be very anti-Nord so would definitely be antagonist towards the Stormcloaks. Whether this means a Snow Elf would be willing to work with the Imperials or be on their own is still up for debate. However, to be a full participate, I imagine I'd have to be willing to do the former.

Depends on how you want things to turn out. Expect canon NPCs to stick with their canon alliances (ie Whiterun trying to remain neutral). If you want allegiances to be different, probably better to make new ones.

@PirouetteI sort of wanted to keep the Jarls and stuff the same. Obviously we are going to use the Holds to their rightful allegiance...but then new ones help justify dramatic plot twists....all the Plot twists...

If our characters are from Skyrim, then maybe keep the big NPC's canon. It would be safe that we would at least know who they were and a little of their background. But you can make new things happen to them or any plot turn you like. But at least start out canon so that our characters know the history (assuming they would).

@Garth Oh the History is mostly canon, yeah. Thanks for helping me decide then maties. I'll probably keep Alduin if we decide on the Dragon's return.
