Pfft. I don't really mind S2. I'm just saying that because it's funny. To me, at least.

Let me put it in another way. I just checked all the Advanced forum threads. Create-A-Hero is the largest thread in this forum. The closest threads are about half our size.

<Snipped quote by Dedonus>

Yeah... the forum only counts posts for pages, not amount really.

I think the 3 GMs were intending, from the sound of it, on going into S2 at some point. At least that's the sensation I got from when they mentioned a while back about starting another thread for it. So at some point, S2 was about to happen and they chose after the incident with raptorman to do it. Allowing us to move with a fresh start.

In addition, we have about 3-4 players holding off on their PCs entrance because they assume there's going to be a new thread as the GMS, and some of us players already felt it was good idea. Unlike Blood Act, which is actually divided into 3 segments storywise, CAH doesn't have strict or predetermined places to cut off so this thread could technically go on forever without ever having to change into 'S2'.

This

The downside of a big broad sandbox game where virtually anything is possible, is accessibility.

It's one thing for those of us who have been soaking in this tub for a while... we're used to the temperature, newcomers though? Not so easy.

So it's good to have clear accessible entry points for new players to jump on.

I get that it's a bit of a disruption/distraction for those of us in here (although we try to give enough warning that players not only are not put out, but can even take the opportunity and thrive from the break and brief time-skip) but it needn't be a negative.

Comics and tv get that point of accessibility as well... its why they tend to have clearer points for these breaks where plot elements can easily be described for newcomers to get up to speed.

And this

<Snipped quote by Dedonus>
I, personally (not sure about others), feel going into S2 makes introducing and adding cities like NY and Grant as bigger elements in the world easier since they are mentioned at the start. I'm even going to ask the GMs if I can help with the OP editing and addition of playable cities being listed there so players know their options. Namely as I know a few of us are going to fleshing out and playing in NYC, while I'm keeping Rach in Lost Haven so I can have multiple things I'm involve with. The New Season starts a few months after the current arc which likely means nothing extreme will be happening between the PCs as the cities are recovering from the Pax Arc results with new metahumans population levels. I'm sure NYC will be full of issues, and corrupted order to fix things since then.

You know by saying that you asked.

While I agree that it might be useful to have a list of cities where there are player characters, we would also have to mention that they are not limited to those cities.

...and with that said, here's something I think some of you newcomers (and you @Fallenreaper who's contemplating a new character) might want to consider:

One of the upsides of the time skip that comes with the season break is that if you have a new character, but don't want the hassle of going through the minutiae of character development and ALL of the growing pains along the way... and you'd rather use the ol' montage technique to get them up to speed and some level of competency in a hurry...

...Well, you're in luck!

And you can still touch on key moments of that development via flashbacks and other such techniques.

But if part of what you want from your character IS going through all of that minutiae and juicy character detail... then yeah, maybe waiting on Season 2 would be best for you.

Personally, it doesn't affect me either way and it's up to you...

...but it's something to consider.

Anyone who wants to drop a mention here for some of those people who were considering new characters to see that, it'd be a great help. I think there was a Natty? Yes?

I believe you all showed interest in this thread but wanted to wait until Season 2 to jump in. See Hound's post above (the first one). If you still want to wait, that is still fine, too.

I think that might include me too, since Riley's not going to start heroing until Season 2.

:p I thought it was polite to mention I aimed on asking at least as I never officially asked yet.
You can mentioned there’s other options and new cities can be added, but the current list is the ones that have players within them to date. Usually players tend to flock to already being used cities so they aren’t alone and playing all by themselves, unless they like doing that. Would that help?

@Hound55
I’m holding off because honestly, I have a street arc going with Rach which is something I rather put my full focus and time into before taking on another PC. Two, I think it might be easier to start him off fresh in NYC at the start so I can possibly, if any of the new interest are considering it, rope others into connections at least.

Yup. That's fine. As I said, doesn't make my life any easier/harder whatever anyone chooses to do. Just think it's a key point to consider, in terms of whether you create a new character prior to the break (and just make the odd one or two posts for an origin, test or to establish who the character is) or whether you build from the ground up in season 2.

You considered it. Ergo, my work here is done.

Well, since I prefer ancient Greek over Latin, there's still room for improvement.

As it stands I'm probably going to hold off from applying until Season 2, despite the fact that I have two sheets ready to submit. While this decision kind of bums me out (as I'd really like to get started already) it does provide me with helluva lot of extra time to flesh things out, which is a major plus. I'll keep an eye on this thread regardless, but yeah -- just don't expect a sheet from me until after S2 comes around.

Basically it is a sandbox (i.e. free form) game where we create our own superheroes (or supervillains if that is your fancy). So the Marvel, DC, or any other comic company's superheroes don't exist as real people, but we create our own to make a world just a vibrant as Marvel or DC. The application and a semi-brief summary of past important events are in the OP.

The OP gives the best description/summary over the rp currently. Create-A-Hero or CAH as I call it, is a sandbox style rp with a theme in superheroes though that's not all it can base around as players are allowed to add new elements like supernatural, aliens, etc. Right now, most the events are based around a small city called Lost Haven but due to the world being so vast and developed by the players, there's been additions such as Grant City and mentions of NYC. Currently, ICly, there's two arcs going on before we flip over to S2: Pax Humana and Natural Section. The first is a world arc affecting key cities beyond Lost Haven and the latter is located directly within the street level danger revolving around Gene Co and The Shroud Syndicate getting ahold of a lost project.

The GMs can add what I missed btw.

I intended it as "noted", but I believe it more accurately translates to "observed"... if I'm not arse-backwards.

There you go. Greek filtered through the eyes of a coarse Australian.

Interesting. I might consider joining assuming the game is in a good position for a newcomer.
