This is a unique pokemon RP. The setting is modern times, in the not so distant future. Perhaps 20 years. The premise of this RP is that America's corrupt government has finally gone off the deep end and it is essentially Nazi Germany and World War 3, concentration camps and all. Corrupt dictator and regime control everything from our economics to our military. Their goal is to weed out Pokemon sympathizers. They view them as slaves and tools, nothing more. The Rebellion views them as friends and partners, how they were meant to be. The regime has started a registry of all who oppose them, registering the ones who do and sending them to slave camps. So the Rebels have gone into hiding. (Think Anne Frank, or safe houses in The Division, or the Underground Railroad). Even if you are a neutral party, the regime considers you an enemy.
This is a mixture of Pokemon and action thriller. Im old school and do not know all current 700+ pokemon and mega evolutions etc etc. I am knowledgable up to Gen 3(Ruby and Sapphire) so that is the cutoff. Im sorry if thats a dealbreaker. Stats and level will not exist. Special ability will not exist. I want a strong character to Pokemon connection, so you will not have 6 Pokemon. Ideally only 1, but I'm gonna allow up to 3. Strictly because if you roll a character on the regime side you or the people youre affiliated with may have political influence allowing you freedoms. Otherwise, you're lucky to have Pokemon anyway, much less a pokeball to keep it in. All of that is regulated and controlled by the regime. No matter the side, at the end of the day, we are an oppressed population. You will however have access to all available moves your Pokemon can do, not just 4. I recommend that if your Pokemon has evolutions, start from the first one to show growth throughout. Be realistic with your choice. If youre a rebel constantly on the run from town to town, hauling around a Lapras makes no sense. I'm toying with the idea of having devices that allow us to understand Pokemon when they talk, and this would be a normal item to have. You do not have to start with a Pokemon but it's fairly important that you attain one sooner than later. I will be rolling a rebel so if you're looking to stick around me, that's where I'll be. Generally speaking, my plan as of now is for good to ultimately triumph in the end. That end could be thousands of pages from now, who knows. I'm open to anything though. Also, defeating a gym leader in this day and age is a sure fire way to to tracked down and have your Pokemon confiscated by the regime. Big brother is always watching.
I'm looking for solid and creative writers. I want this to be well done so onlookers can read it as a book and be excited for the next entry. I don't expect a page but anything under 5 ish sentences on the regular won't fly. I would consider this pg-13. This isn't the cartoon. People die. Pokemon can and will die. The attacks will cause the appropriate damage they should. I.e. repeatedly cutting will cause bleedout. This has a ton of potential. Realistically is like it to be a 6-8 person RP. Any more will get too busy. I want to be intrigued with not only my character but yours as well, meaning if you are not on a high school reading level you are at a disadvantage but I'm not making any requirements as long as your ability and effort are there. If 20 are interested, I'll take the best 6-8 character sheets. Your writing there is how I will guage your skill level. I'm not asking for literature gold, but it does need to be at a high-school level.
I'm not an English or literature graduate. I'm not perfect. I'm experienced in RP and writing but it is my hope that more skilled writers than me take part in this. If you consider yourself an excellent writer with a knowledge of our subject matter here, feel free to whip up an excerpt and PM it to me. I'll consider it a co-GM application. This has a lot of potential. Dont be frightened by the restrictions on group size and no stats. This isnt the video game. It is a real world action thriller as if Pokemon actually existed. Your pokemon is essentially your best friend, brother/sister, theyre what keeps you sane and alive in times like these. Precisely why you dont need six of them. The regime has their hand in EVERYTHING. Pokeballs are almost non existent, along with many other items. If they find out you have a strong pokemon, they will want it. So...much...potential.
Simple rules. No godmode. No killing of player/important characters unless agreed upon. Not sexual content past pg. Cursing only where you feel appropriate to do so and even then let's keep it classy. Any questions, concerns, ideas...PLEASE pm me.
