Name - Enior Errigan
Age - 19
Gender - M
Race - Elf
Personality - Enior speaks to a room of many people and they all cheer his name. He joins in song, merriment, entertainment, and all other hospitalities that life might have to offer at any given time. Though his demeanor is friendly, the elf would likely reevaluate his morals for a high enough sum of gold. Enior is a thief and a rogue who treads in the shadow, his personality in combat being unheard and of a single swing. Though he'd rather avoid combat entirely, Enior has been known to hold his ground against more than one opponent. In most cases, Enior utilizes charm and wit to woo an opposing party over, or gain favors and trinkets he should not.
Appearance -

He wears a transparent, thin veil as a sort of mask. It is only effective at night or in dim lightning.
Abilities - Lockpicking, pickpocketing, knife-throwing, stealth, superb climbing and speed, trap disarming, silver tongue
Equipment - Thieves' tools, Climbing kit, leather armor, throwing knives, two iron daggers, and smoke bombs

Backstory - Raised in the slums of a bustling city, Enior was quick to learn harsh living and the brutality of famine. Stealing his way to survive, Enior became rather good at becoming unnoticed about the hundredth time he was beaten by the local vendors. He could steal goods, foods, even coin from one's pocket without being noticed. On occasion, he's even been known to slip a weapon from a guard or two, or so he claims. At a younger age than most he became a sellsword. He favored the dagger above all other weapons, allowing him to strike in close proximity while remaining light on his feet. Now, though, he seeks knowledge of a great treasure; the life of a sellsword pays well but not enough. He dreams of bathing in the gold of nobles, gold he never attained as a child in the gutter.

Name - Kodor
Age - 25
Gender - Male
Race - Human
Personality - Kodor is a noble savage with a fiery temper and a penchant for extreme violence. In battle, he is liable to be possessed by an extreme bloodlust, entering a berserker state.
Despite this, he has a primitive sense of community. To him, the protection of his tribe is more important than anything else. The tribe protects each other and helps each other, and in the outlands, this is essential for living another day.
He's gone from living as a hunter-gatherer to being in places where food and drink are bountiful. As such he's fond of food, drink, and other simple pleasures, though he also derives a form of joy from violence.
Kodor, given his life, also believes that might makes right.
Appearance -

Abilities - Kodor is second to none in terms of strength and constitution, raised in the harshest climates and fighting dangerous monsters. Likewise, he's skilled with melee weapons, overwhelming enemies with sheer strength.
Moreover, he's fit to bouts of berserker rage. When he enters such a state, he grows frighteningly violent, able to ignore pain, fear, and fatigue until he bleeds out or the enemy is destroyed. Even allies are recommended to stand back until he calms down.
Equipment - A heavy sword and a greataxe, both slung across his back.

Backstory - Kodor hails from the farthest reaches of society, wherein dangerous beasts and the harshest climates make survival an everyday concern. There, Kodor and his clan grew as savages, living off the land and eating the monsters that sought to destroy them.
Kodor's role in the old village was as a hunter. He, especially, would venture from the safety of the huts and fires and spend long periods tracking dangerous beasts in the snow. This was necessary. It provided meat and bone and fur. Kodor spent many years doing this. However, one year, he went out during an especially harsh blizzard. During this time, he was beset by many hungry bears. For him, this meant much meat. When he returned, however, the village was abandoned, the huts empty. The tundra was vast, and if they weren't dead, it was likely Kodor would never see them again.

Without a clan, he began to wander.
He left the tundra and wandered the deserts. There, he killed.
He left the desert and wandered the plains. There, he killed.
He left the plains and wandered the jungles. There, he killed.

But no matter where he wandered or who he killed, he never found his village. This brings him to today. He now lives his life only as a sellsword, mercenary, and treasure hunter.

Name - Ludmilla Van Valkenburg, Gourd Witch
Age - 22
Gender - F
Race - Human
Personality - Haughty and arrogant to a fault, Ludmilla has a serious complex about her inability to perform anything other than gourd-based magic, and generally dislikes other mages as a result. She will take any chance she gets to belittle another person's mastery of magecraft. As for those without a talent magic, she looks upon them with a mild blend of pity and disgust, occasionally crossing into respect when she encounters those with exceptional skill. Altogether, she's a very irritating person.

Abilities - Mastery of gourd-based magic, overwhelming smugness, flying with the aid of a broom, a surprisingly excellent cook, encyclopedic knowledge of herbacious plants from the western continent, standard mage skills
Equipment - Twenty ducats, witch's broom, magic staff

Backstory - The great-great-great-etc. granddaughter of the so-called "mother of modern witchery", Ulna Van Valkenburg and youngest scion of the Van Valkenburg clan, Ludmilla's dream was to join the family business and become a proper spellcaster. This dream was swiftly and mercilessly crushed by the fact that Ludmilla seemed to be superhumanly untalented at magic. Evocations fizzled, divinations came out murky, abjurations were brittle, and illusions were unconvincing. Just about the only thing Ludmilla was capable of doing was, oddly, conjuring and manipulating herbacious vegetables.

Out of a strange mix of desperation and misplaced pride, Ludmilla threw herself into the study of gourds, squash, and pumpkins, discovering ways to mimic well-known spells using her admittedly-narrow field of expertise. Now, she has sailed to Illendriel from the western continent in search of new, exotic plants to add her arsenal, and make a name for herself as an adventuring witch.

Name - Geoffrey
Age - 32
Gender - Male
Race - Human
Personality - Geoffrey's behavioral traits are what many expect from the population of the serfdom. He is a hard-working, uncultured, judgemental, and superstitious individual. All and all, he is just a quintessential commoner, who can relate to villagers and their love of forming angry mobs.

Abilities

  • Serf's Physique: Geoffrey, as a serf, has a body strengthened from hard and back-breaking work. He is a physically tough individual, capable treacherous activities for lengthy periods of time before exhaustion.
  • Serf's Knowledge: As a serf, Geoffrey has his share of knowledge. This is primarily reserved for knowing how to do laborious chores related to farming, ranching, other essentials for working the land, and knowledge about some folk tales.

Equipment

  • Clothes on his Back: Pretty much just some filth encrusted clothing.
  • Seven Month Sow: This is pretty much self explanatory. Geoffrey carries around a female pig that is seven months old. Weighing at 225 pounds, it is a smaller end sow, but still would fetch a good price at the market. Geoffrey uses this pig as a weapon, flailing it around as a makeshift hammer. For this reason the pig hates him, and will either try to fight Geoffrey or flee from him if able.
  • Fluttering burlap-sack: Slung over left shoulder, Geoffrey carries this large burlap sack to store things. which just so happens to thresh about. This is due to this sack containing a flock of pigeons, that make noise and attempt to get out of the bag.
  • Squirming burlap-sack: Slung over his right shoulder, Geoffrey carries a smaller burlap sack. However, this burlap sack shows signs of movement. This is due to this sack containing a litter of rats, which are make shrill shrieks and attempt to get out of the bag.
  • Two Chickens: Medium sized chickens that are tied upside down around his waist. Typically they try to get away from the peasant man.
  • Three Sheep: Geoffrey also has three ewes that are of a matured age. They each weigh around 92 pounds, and are by far the most co-operative of the lot, as they do not try to fight back.

Backstory - Geoffrey was born into a large serf family on the holdings of Baron Restault. He was the newest addition to Restault's property, and was set to do the same as his father before him, and his grandfather before that. Geoffrey however, was not as fortunate as the other serfs. This was due to the fact that his family tended the backcountry of the Restault Barony.

Due to his positioning on the estate, Geoffrey saw many terrible things happen, besides the general pain that is serf life. He saw one of his younger sisters get kidnapped by bandits, who hid out in the wilds beyond the tamed holdings. He saw his father get eaten by a bear, alongside other nasty things. He was at his limit for much agony as he could take. As these backwoods were a terrible place, Geoffrey made the conscious decision to flee. So when the night drew upon the land, Geoffrey took as many animals as he could and left the Restault Barony in the search for a place that has been completely tamed by civilization. Plus to a guy who was forced to stay on one patch of land for most of his life, traveling and adventuring is a neat gig.

Originally taken in as a pet, when Nariana's growth didn't stop at tarantula-size, the owners realized they'd made a grave mistake. Instead of squishing her or throwing her out, though, the kind elves raised her as one of their own.

Name - Addis & The Cutting

Age - 430 (Addis), 25 (The Cutting)

Gender - Hermaphrodite

Race - Both Addis and The Cutting are Ents. Ents are, put simply, sapient humanoid trees. Ents are as large as the trees they resemble, and have bodies comprised of strong mystical wood. Though strong, durable, and wise, Ents are restricted by their size and slowness.

Personality - Addis and his offspring know no nonsense, and think as literally as possible. Both of them are strongly spiritual, and place religion in high regard. Anyone who either dismisses the gods or actively shuns them will face Addis's wrath.

Appearance - Addis is big. Very big. Standing at about six adult humans tall, Addis strikes an imposing figure. The Cutting, meanwhile, is significantly smaller, standing at only 5'6''. The Cutting's wooden skin is much smoother and greener than Addis's. Sutras and prayers have been carved into Addis' feet.

Equipment - Addis and The Cutting are both completely naked. However, Addis has had a small portion of wood near his shoulder cleared away to form a perch for The Cutting to stay when not in use.

Name: Russ Trelyat
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Personality: Rather curt and blunt, but not entirely devoid of good humor. Fairly superstitious, but also courageous and practical-minded enough that it's not a crippling concern (IE, he's willing to try and kill his superstitions, literally). Fond of a good drink, perhaps overly so, and loyal even to a fault at times. Is most definitely not queasy. Is a passionate admirer of firearms.

Appearance:

Russ is always dressed in his guardsman uniform, which consists of a hardy blue coat, tough leather boots, white breeches, white gloves and a pointed cloth hat. His coat isn’t quite as long as the one in the picture and he wears it open, which looks sloppier but affords more mobility, means less heat and looks cooler. Along with his well-trimmed beard, his uniform makes for an immediately recognizable figure in his homeland.

Abilities:
As a man and a soldier of Anviek, an inhospitable frozen tundra where life is harsh and often cruel, Russ is quite hardy. He's generally athletic, leaning more towards agility and dexterity rather than sheer strength, and has an extreme tolerance for harsh conditions, hunger, thirst, and other debilitating effects physical or mental. Russ has extremely good eyesight and has trained himself into a degree of ambidexterity as far as weapons handling goes.

As part of an elite corps of guardsmen specialized in the handling of muskets, Russ is a ridiculously good shot, which counts for a lot when you consider old firearms are really inaccurate. He is also familiar with handling a saber, daggers, a pike, heavier polearms such as halberds and hand to hand fighting, as well as riding on horseback and some general level of equipment maintenance.

Equipment:
-Nat: A custom smoothbore musket, covered in runes to allow its shots to work as well against the mystical as they do a common man. Nat's most remarkable feature is its breech-loading system, an innovation that allows a shooter to set up premade “cartridges” of paper with black powder and a shot in firing position rather than having to go through the annoying and cumbersome muzzle-loading process. This advance in technology allows it the fantastic firing rate of around 10 shots a minute in Russ' expertly trained hands, a marked improvement over the typical 2.

The musket is also bizarrely hardy thanks to a combination of top notch craftsmanship and possibly its runic enhancements. It can be used reliably essentially anywhere but underwater, and will continue to function properly even if dragged through a mire or used to club someone to death. It also has a bayonet mount to allow for some manner of close range combat. Russ typically carries it wrapped in cloth.

-Bayonet: An addon for Nat, a tough knife that can be mounted under the muzzle to turn it into a polearm of sorts or used on its own if necessary. It's similar to a rondel dagger, being stiff blade with a needle point, it’s very good for thrusting through gaps in armor, though it can still be used to cut. As a companion to Nat, it is also tremendously hardy and capable of harming things that a knife should not.

-Pistolsx8: Eight standard, muzzle-loaded, single shot pistols. It wasn't rare to see someone carry several considering reloading them takes so much time it's practically a death warrant in combat. He carries two openly on belt holsters outside of his jacket, while the two on the thighs, two under his armpits on shoulder holsters and two crossed on the small of his back are hidden by it.

-Pocket pistol x2: Essentially a pair of miniature flintlock pistols Russ hides in his sleeves. They lack a good deal of stopping power, but in case of an emergency they're better than nothing.

-Saber x1: A nondescript curved sword, carried around just in case and more a sign of position than a favored weapon for Russ.

-Jack of plates x1: A garment made up of plates of armor, often recycled from damaged breastplates and cuirasses, sewn between layers of felt and canvas in the form of a vest. Lighter and more comfortable than a solid piece of plate armor while still providing excellent protection, Russ wears his under his coat.

-Backpack x1: A reasonably compact soldier’s backpack which contains what typical assortments of the type such as some rope, flint and steel, rations, a waterskin, a flask etc. It also includes tools to keep his weapons and clothes in good working order and a kit to create more of the disposable cartridges he uses, meaning black powder, paper and loose shots. Russ carries three different types of ammunition: Solid lead balls, small lead pellets for spreading shots with less killing power and smaller lead balls for use with his pistols. He keeps a good deal of pre-made cartridges handily set up on a belt pouch for ease of access.

-Bankert: Not exactly a piece of equipment, yet oft treated as such. Once a dangerous creature that would lead others to their doom in the wilderness, he was captured, stripped from most of his devilish powers and made to repay the crown by being bound to one of its servants as a familiar. He is compelled to obey Russ, who can also kill him with a word as way of incentive, but hates him with a passion and does nothing unless directly ordered, which rather limits his usefulness.

He takes the form of an emaciated, rat-like humanoid with very thin, raggedy fur, an oversized head, long bony fingers, no tail and small, leathery wings. Though typically about 15 inches tall, he can shrink himself to fit inside a gun barrel and that is what he is most often used for, loading Russ’ guns while he is otherwise busy. He is deceptively strong, enough to handle Russ’ pistols himself with some difficulty, hard to kill and very fast, but their mutual dislike means he’s not often called upon.

Backstory:
Anviek is a sprawling land, vast and inhospitable. Biting cold, lack of sunlight and harsh soil make growing food difficult, and the size of the territory means no one central power has ever held real claim to unified power. Authorities tend to be local, or loose confederations at best, and while there is an imperial dynasty with some sway it constantly flirts with disaster. A strong claim to a good chunk of the most fertile lands, however, has allowed the current Empire to hold itself aloft and establish a strong military base with which to defend itself from threats both foreign and domestic.

Key to this military might are its famed guardsmen, some of the deadliest gunners known to the world, and Russ is one of them. However, the shaky standing of the Empire and its constant spending on reinforcing itself means its subjects often go underpaid and its guardsmen are no exception. While allowed to farm and ply other trades to supplement their income, the discontent of the guardsmen is palpable and whispers of rebellion abound, supported by smaller powers looking for a piece of the pie. At the very least, distinguished captains have begun maneuvering their way into politics and positions of power, making for an unstable situation.

A career soldier born to an equally dedicated father, from whom he inherited his position in the corps, Russ holds no lands and knows no other trade that isn't warfare. He is also politically daft and equally unwilling to betray his lord or engage his former comrades in arms in a massacre. Sensing the coming tide, and seeking a way to avoid going hungry, he took the permission to find alternate ways to supplement his income as an out and left his homeland to work as a mercenary.
