The armor is lighter than usual thanks to its composition; therefore, it counts as Light while actually acting as enchanted heavy armor.

It depends on our tactic then. Do we use cavalry to break the enemy by the side or the rear? Eliz. Do we use it to maintain the front? Ardghal.

Also, you can bet Eliz is going to claim she should be the one to wear it as if she didn't duel the Storm clan, that armor wouldn't be there. But that's Greedy+abrasive for you.

@Wernher

Actually, Eliz getting the armor is justified for the most part. As far as tactics go, maybe we should bait them into charging before they are properly ready and encircling them while someone goes to route the greenfeathers (even though I do not believe they are very adept at the whole swish swish stab, hey they hire mercs to do their work)

What I suggest: Cavalry goes to drop archers to harass Greens while dividing our troops in two, one seemingly going to meet the greens while the other one turns around, drops its pants and taunt the nightfell like there's no tomorrow into rushing in. If they do, flank them with the group facing Green. If the greens ignore the skirmishers and charge despite the arrow rain, charge in their rear while they engage.

If the Nightfell don't take the bait, regroup in a line and either: try to shift the flank to force Nightfell and greens to fight together (something I guess they are not used to) or lure in Nightfell by having the center loosing and falling back so the flanks can encircle them, again, using the cavalry as a threat to prevent Greens from charging or at least, from dedicating all their forces.

Eliz's personal main priority: Conserve the horse's energy as much as possible to run over the Greens once they flee, inflict maximum casualties. FOR URAK!

That plan seems good, BUT we have to remember Urlandi culture. We do not fight to kill, we will route them then counter attack after our men have replenished.

We fought against the Tuad Rithe, but for our bravery we were given a second chance.

-- We are generally seen as honorable but are believed to have wicked streaks.

The way I see it, we run after them, if they don't surrender they are still fighting so they can be killed.

You bring up a point, howeve, do we wish to live up to that? If they still want to fight then you can kill them, however, if they break and route you are to chase them and take Thralls of you can.

@Shorticus Something else occurred to me. Can NPCs perform actions on behalf of Council members? For example, let's say Maire wants to mount another expedition to the Barrows to take a closer look at the runestones. Considering what happened last time, she's loathe to go in-person. Could she send Tristan Jory, a gallocman loyal to her, with some companions to make simple drawings of the stones that she can study? Obviously, this would count as her action for the turn. I know there's potential to abuse having NPC followers, but as long as we don't go crazy with it is this possible?

Actually, worked on a new plan:

Greenfeather men are either mercenaries or their own men with a merchant focus, either way I will guess that they do not have a very high morale and would likely break if the situation seems unwinnable, so the focus should be against them initially to shift toward Nightfell. That, of course, would imply splitting them up and I think I know how to do that.

Now, @Shorticus since this is our home turf, can I give the layout?

So lets say while the enemies are still away I move archers along with horses in tall grass and set them up like so. Maybe we can even fight with the sun at our back? Meanwhile me along with the men I went to raid the Nightfell with move forward (along with some people able to lift tower shields) on foot and taunt the advancing Nightfells, with me swinging crossbow bolts since I'm really hard to kill rather than hide behind shields. Considering I have the fancy armor that screams 'I'm the leader' and that I led the raid against them, I think our chances are good to attract them.

We fall back at the speed they advance and once they are close enough, the archers begin to fire their arrows. If the Nightfell column continues to advance, they get up and get everyone on their horses to scream murder and charge right at them to try and frighten them. If they don't bulge, we turn to the side and flee like little bitches.

In the meantime, most of our forces can charge down the Greenfeather warriors with superior numbers as well as most of the gallocmen, etc to try and route them while the rest is distracted.

Thoughts?

On tactics: you don't need to get super detailed about your tactics in the OOC. I'd MUCH prefer you guys be able to summarize within a paragraph or two at most what your battle plan is and save longer text for the IC itself.

If it can't be summarized within two paragraphs, it's probably too complicated. I think what you wrote CAN be summarized within a paragraph, but from now on that's my rule on tactics. Please make it clear and concise.

So, with that said: this plan sounds perfectly reasonable to me. You're going to hide your archers in tall grass, taunt the Nightfell warriors, then fall back and let your archers do their dirty work. And then you'll charge 'em if they don't break, or retreat if that fails. (Someone yelling "RETREAT!" at the top of their lungs is enough to manage a retreat order.) However, the bulk of your forces are trying to overpower the Greenfeathers with sheer numbers.

Yeah. Sounds reasonable. It could end VERY badly for you as the leader of the smaller group because Nightfell warriors aren't pushovers. They're highly experienced. But if it were to work, it'd work very well.

I still think my mobility will save my ass. Horses ftw. Plus I assume the bulk of their forces are still Kerns? Maybe some who want payback for the kidnappings? If I can break them, hopefully this'll start a domino effect and, if it doesn't break the Nightfell gallocemen, hopefully once I blow my horn, it'll make greenfeather shit its pants and believe its all of Nightfell thats running away and leaving them to face us all alone.

How about Eliz fights the Nightfell while Ardghal fights the Greenfeather?

@Mardox I'm all for it, good sir. If you want, after Maire and Serhiem talk, you can send Ardghal to Maire to propose some sort of alliance. Who knows? She might even accept =P

Excellent! Let's do that after we fight off the raid.

By the way, folks, since we're getting into the third turn and all, let me ask:

Is there anything you feel I could improve as a GM? Does the weekly update seem to be working for you guys? Etc.

I'll be around later today to discuss stuff about the RP, and I'm more than willing to hear any criticisms y'all have.

As always, please feel free to have your characters discuss matters in the IC section. The raid will be handled at the end of this week, so feel free to also start writing about actions that don't involve the raid. I'll go ahead and decide now that your turn actions take place BEFORE the raid.
