@FrozenEcstasy: As I said, I'll need to see more details of your character, once you decide on them, to see if it fits or not. But in general, there aren't any problems with the Unknown God concept.

@ravenDivinity: The link in the first post has a section on the limitations of magic. As for precognition... That's in section 2.2.6.2 of the document. I've just made some changes to it, which should address your concerns about seers and oracles.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the document isn't finished I was soooooooooooo looking forward to the rest of that, I AM looking forward to it.

Ugggghhhhhhhhhh, must do character creation >:U

I do think I've figured out a concept. Can I have a brief explanation on how Spiritual Amnesia might work? Would there be a sort of seal that could suppress memories or something along those lines? I think it'd be interesting to have a God that has been in a state of amnesia for Centuries, not knowing who or what they were, just knowing what they've experienced since, and are constantly trying to figure that out. I'd imagine for something like that to be a centuries old struggles, that something REALLYYYYYYY powerful had to be involved, or something incredulously STUPID was attempted and is semi-irreversible.

Also, from a magical standpoint, I'd see the God being a user of Psiionics, with a large focus on the Pathos discipline, and having their abilities impacted heavily on the stability of their emotions, in which more virile and potent emotions produce effects similar to chaos magic, while your typical emotional spectrum simply influences the reliability and ease of their magical use.

So in summary, a God who has little to no idea of who, or what they are, with little understanding of their origin, haunted by pieces of memories and the idea that something powerful is at work, while being a creature whose power and potential rely strongly on their emotions and the situation in which they were in. (*takes a deep breath*) It's a character dynamic I love playing around with, and the somewhat melancholy characterization of "they didn't know me but they still worshiped me" would be interesting to work with.

Okay, that's it, I'm moving the physics and magic stuff to a different document and just linking to that, otherwise it'll cause way too much confusion. Aside from section 2, everything else in that document belongs to a different setting altogether, not the setting of this game. Sorry if it wasn't clear, but all the stuff about Pathos and what not don't apply here. You could still have a spirit that uses mind-based powers, but it'd just be called magic like any other magic, instead of being categorized as "Psionic" according to that other system. That other system is irrelevant.

Aside from that, if your spirit is on par with the rest of the major Greek gods, then it's highly unlikely for there to be anything powerful enough to inflict an indefinitely-lasting memory-blocking curse on your spirit. It's far more likely that he had a big fight against some other spirit of similar power, and his mind was damaged in the fight, resulting in his amnesia. He'd, of course, not remember who it was that he fought, and is free to come up with speculations and doubts.

Also, regarding precognition, I'm adding a clarification that it's still limited by one's reflexes, to those whom it may concern.

Oh? ;-; Oh. But it was so interesting ;3;

OH WELLLLLL. Most of my plans will probably stay in contact though!~

So it's pretty much blunt-force trauma induced amnesia in style, so it's not completely irreversible but is debilitating enough to cause issues for a substantial amount of time. So now my issue is WHAT did he get in a fight for, why would he fight, and who he fought. Answer those questions and I'm on the track to figuring out who he is. Though I'll tell you right now, he found his way into the Greecian world but is not inherently Greecian. He may be good... or had been good friends with Pan (who may or may not still be missing?)

Well, that'd be up to you to decide. You could create the character that fought your guy and made him lose memories, or you could have it be someone else's character, if the player agrees.

Nobody is using Pan yet, so you could have him if you want.

Oh I know. Its just that mythologically speaking... Pan disappeared. Hah. Though if I may, could I reserve the character for possible story issues for my character?

@FrozenEcstasy: Sure, Pan is now reserved by you, if enough people are interested in the game.

I'm going to wait another day or two to see if more people are interested.

Absolutely interested. I love this kind of theme, and the detail and effort put into the world is already amazing.

So a couple questions:
Clearly this is including things not classified as demons in the common usage of the word, but for the sake of keeping things straight in my head, is this going to be using "demon" as in the usual, abrahamic version of the word where it's fallen angels and such, or is it going to be "demon" as in "anything supernatural?" For example, would a werewolf be usable and what alignment would it have? Neutral? Would it be classified as a demon, or a spirit, or a monster, what? Not planning to use a werewolf but it's a good choice given what I'm trying to ask.
So the document states that Lucifer and Satan are the same thing, so I assume Helel isn't allowed either?
Is it possible for a spirit to have received more than one mantle?

Edit:
Another question that occurs to me. If Lucifer and Satan were killed by the Demon Princes, either there must be one, maybe two replacements among the seven princes or the concept isn't used. Based on the reserved characters, I'm assuming it's the former. Could you please tell me which is the case?
I love the physics detail. No uncertainty principle, or am I misunderstanding what the third bullet point means?

A "demon" in the context of this game is simply a fully Dark-aligned spirit. Anything traditionally depicted as a demon, e.g. Mephistopheles, Astaroth, is a demon here. Though a demon isn't a fallen angel; a fallen angel is actually an angel (i.e. fully Light-aligned spirit) who left Heaven and underwent a transformation into a Light/Dark Hybrid-aligned spirit. Anything that isn't explicitly an angel or a demon is usually Neutral, but specific cases may vary, e.g. vampires are typically Dark and are thus classified as demons.

So the document states that Lucifer and Satan are the same thing, so I assume Helel isn't allowed either?

Any sort of devil figure portrayed as the primary adversary of the Abrahamic God, as well as any highest angel who rebelled against God to become said devil, is not allowed. I just looked it up, and Helel is apparently an alternate name or title for Lucifer, so that's not allowed.

Is it possible for a spirit to have received more than one mantle?

Yes. But I'd rather that you don't create a character with multiple famous mantles in mythology, because I want more mantles to be available for other players. On the other hand, if you think you have a really good idea that needs multiple mantles, feel free to throw it at me anyways; just know that it's not too likely to be accepted unless I really like it.

Another question that occurs to me. If Lucifer and Satan were killed by the Demon Princes, either there must be one, maybe two replacements among the seven princes or the concept isn't used. Based on the reserved characters, I'm assuming it's the former. Could you please tell me which is the case?

The backstory of this game is slightly different from how it usually goes in real life demonology. More details will be given in the actual signup thread, but currently the seven Demon Princes are Asmodeus (Pride), Lilith (Lust), Mammon (Greed), Leviathan (Envy), Pazuzu (Wrath), Beelzebub (Gluttony), and Belphegor (Sloth), with Asmodeus being the leader. Before the coup, Satan used to occupy the position of Pride, while Asmodeus was Wrath; Pazuzu was only promoted to Demon Prince after the coup.

I love the physics detail. No uncertainty principle, or am I misunderstanding what the third bullet point means?

Nope, no uncertainty principle or wavefunction collapse.

So Haruhi? :P

No clue who or what Haruhi is

ALSO, the biblical "Lucifer" has dozens of names, some denominations ascribe him several names that are not his own, and some take some of his names and make new people out of them.

FOR INSTANCE, half those Princes that John named are using names that actually belong to Lucifer, and one of them isn't a demon at all (Leviathan), but an animal. That is, if you are going by the original bible and the correct translations.

Hi, my name is Robby, and I'm somewhat of a theologian.

I don't particularly care much for Biblical accuracy. If some being is depicted as a separate demon in popular culture, e.g. D&D, I'm having it as a separate demon. In this game's backstory, the Bible is a rather badly transcribed human version of the Celestiarchy's religious teachings and propaganda-distorted historical records, so that explains any discrepancies.

Alright, I think I'm going back to my original idea of the Tiamat-personage.

An idea I had for this character's backstory was that they encountered and bonded with the remnants of Tiamat through some sort of chaos-aligned rift in the deep ocean. Now I have no idea how feasible that really is in the setting, so I'd ask how I could work in something like that.

Also, this is his current hit list of Tiamat's "children," lemme know who I should remove for whatever reason: Bahamut, Dagon, Lahamu, Nu, Oceanus, Tannin and Thalassa. One or more of these may already be dead and devoured by the start of the RP.

@Dead Cruiser: Uh... Tiamat is still alive, and is in fact one of the leaders of the Reclamation of Chaos; it is led by Jörmungandr, Apep, Tiamat, Vritra, Typhon, Yamata no Orochi, and Aži Dahāka, seven ancient serpentine spirits that were born from the fragments of the Primordial Chaos. So if Tiamat is the one you want to reassemble, that wouldn't work. However, the Reclamation is trying to reassemble the Primordial Chaos, which is reasonably similar to what you're going for. In addition to fighting angels and demons, the Reclamation is trying to find, and either recruit or devour (if recruitment isn't possible) other spirits of chaos, and gather souls in general, to feed them into a cauldron of souls and further the rebirth of Chaos.

As for the other mythological figures you listed, no, they shouldn't all be children of Tiamat, as the various different pantheons of the world have all developed independently. Some of them could have been born from the fragments of the Primordial Chaos, which is a cross-cultural thing.
