Autumn snorted in amusement. "Yeah, less likely to be disturbed," she agreed with a laugh. "It also means I don't have to deal with nearly as many of the guests here when I'm off shift. Sometimes being memorable has its downsides," she told Ley, though didn't sound too down. Her statuesque build and general looks did tend to be memorable. Once her hamsters were back in their cage, she gestured for Ley to follow her. "Come on, there's a door out onto the trails just down the hall," she said to Ley, smiling at the other mare happily.

"Yeah, you were definitely memorable," Ley said, laughing a little, "I know I'm not going to be forgetting last night anytime soon."
She started to walk down the hall, heading towards the door that Autumn had mentioned.
"Are you looking forward to the conference? It must bring in a lot of tips."

Autumn giggled at Ley's comment on her being memorable, and actually full out laughed as the unicorn mentioned the convention and tips. "The tips are real good, but whenever a convention or conference comes through the Resort, we tend to really earn those tips," Autumn explained, eyes sparkling mischievously. "Those events can bring some real... interesting, ponies." There was the sense that 'interesting' was not the word that Autumn really wanted to go with. "I am looking forward to the conference for other reasons though. There are also plenty of ponies that are interesting in a good way." They exited the building onto a small mountain path that had trees overhead, with soft, golden light filtering through the holes in the foliage above. "I'm assuming you're looking forward to it. Are you presenting something?" she asked curiously, smiling cheerfully.

Ley's eyes lit up at that.
"Yes, I am actually. I'm making a presentation on day three regarding a Unifying Theory of Magic. I'm hoping to drum up some interest in the field. It's often just regarded as a nursery tale or myth of sorts," She said, excitedly explaining her preferred choice of research.

"Unifying theory? Isn't that something about how even non-intelligent beings like cats, monkeys, and manticores have magic?" Autumn asked curiously. "You have evidence to prove it?" Her tone wasn't incredulous, or condescending, or anything negative. Autumn sounded surprised more than anything as she looked over at Ley.

Ley looked a little smug.
"You'll just have to wait and see. I'm quite excited about the whole thing. Its not often I have a chance to shoe my research without being laughed off the stage. This could be my big chance," she said, looking quite happy with the idea of presenting her theory.

Autumn gave Ley a bright smile. “Well then, I guess that’s one presentation I can’t miss, even if most of it will probably fly right over my head,” she told Ley with a giggle, beginning to lead the way down the paths.

The paths wove through the forested area, the canopy filtering through soft, golden shafts of sunlight onto the shady path. Autumn was leading the way expertly, taking a few twists and turns, and keeping them on the smaller trails, not taking the larger, well-worn paths.

Ley's eyes darted everywhere as she looked around her, stunned by the beauty of the place.
"Wow," She said in a dazed tone, "This is amazing."
Living in Canterlot, she didn't often get to see nature like this. It was an almost overwhelming experience.
"Where are we headed?" She asked.

@Carlsberg [OOC: SORRY! Time got away from me. ;( ]

"It really is," Autumn agreed happily. "Never gets old. We're heading to an old lookout. It's off the beaten track, and a lot harder to get to than some of the others, but if you're up for a hike, I cannot begin to explain how worth it it is." She smiled happily. It was rare she got to share the sight, even with her coworkers, and she hoped she'd be able to share it with Ley.

"I'd love to go see it! Don't worry, I've done my fair share of walking in my time. I'm sure I can keep up," Ley said with a bright smile on her face, happy to be spending time with the other mare.
Her eyes wandered around, finding everything fascinating. One half of her wanted to study every plant and find out what made it so beautiful, and another part of her just wanted to take in the beautiful scenery.

It did end up being quite the hike, taking more than an hour and a half over some rather rough terrain. Though, once they reached the lookout point, it all proved worth it. The spot was at the top of a cliff that overlooked a valley completely unmarred by pony habitation or development. No visible roads, no buildings, nothing but greenery and mountains for kilometres around, for all that could be seen from the lookout.

"Me and a few others on staff have this as kind of our secret spot. Almost no tourist is willing to make the kind of trek it takes to get up here," Autumn explained happily. "It's an amazing spot." She reached into the saddlebags she'd brought along and pulled out a bottle of water. "Want some?" she asked, offering it to Ley Lines.

Ley sat down with a small pant, taking the water bottle in her magic and taking a sip. She let out a refreshing sigh at the taste.
"Thank you. I really needed that," She said with a smile.
She looked out at the view, her mouth dropping open a little. She took a second to just look at it, absorbing the picture.
"Wow," She said after a while, "And you get to see this whenever you want?"
She went silent for a while.
"You should come and visit Canterlot at some point. The view of the edge of the city is amazing," She said absentmindedly.

"Not whenever I want," Autumn said with a smile. "Just on my days off when I have time to hike out here." She smiled down at Ley. "I think I'd like that. Believe it or not, I've never been to Canterlot," she said with a giggle. "Perhaps you might like to show me around some time?"
