Oh I didn't care. Your CS in the PM had an image with it, I'd assume you'd put it back when you posted it to the Characters tab.

...Man, there should totally be a Gotham-based character called "The Lurker". I have no idea what they'd even be since this is a random thought I'm having when I'm surprisingly sleepy for 8:35pm but there totally should.

As long as the knitter makes a cameo, I'll be a happy woman.

...

Crap. I should have gone with him for my character!

Adding this to the original OOC post. Questions, comments, lemme have 'em.

State of the overall Verse:

Smooth on the surface, but dangers lurk underneath. Or, rather, far from Earth orbit. There is chatter among select circles of Green Lanterns going dark in certain far outposts. On Earth itself the Justice League and it's allies have managed to defend the citizens of the planet There is a growing sentiment of anti-metahumanism among the world populace, and has begun to be reflected in far right wing politics.

State of Gotham City:

Shock. The Joker is no more and Batman didn't kill him. A story some believe, and some don't. Regardless of version of the tale, they all agree that the Joker is gone. Harley Quinn disappeared, presumably in grief, leaving behind a large gang built up with care over time with a grand plan in mind--a plan that got the Joker dead. Then Jim Gordon retired, rumors are due to pressure from a rising political star Mayor. Aside from a small turf war (over a favorite handful of warehouses between Two-Face and Black Mask) the city is experiencing a rare calm.

Lifers aren't enjoying it, expecting the storm they're sure that will follow.

State of the streets:

The game keeps on keeping on; dealers deal, buyers buy, gangsters and thugs and even rogues dueling it out. The cops are more protective of certain (affluent) areas of the city, and there's been a noticeable uptick in citizen justice. The clowns calling themselves Jokerz are affecting the street gangs more than the organized crime henchmen and their bosses, but even they seem increasingly concerned. None of "the Watchers" have reported Batman sightings for five days. No one person or entity runs these streets, though the Mob seems to be making a come back.

State of GCPD:

Gordon's retirement came at the best moment it could have; during a relative lull in major crime and after the Joker's demise. It all might have seemed downright natural, had the Commissioner, his Deputy, and the Director of MCU not seemingly swept out together as a regime change dictated from above their heads. The department has become a hornet's nest of locker room politics and shifting alliances. The assassination of the sergeant over the Traffic division has an already tense situation to the point of boiling.

I'm now wondering how the villain community is handling Joker's death. I mean, they all spent a lot of time together in Arkham through the years so I imagine it would be like losing a co-worker that you didn't exactly like but whose work you respected. You'd be a little sad and reminiscent but not weeping.

@LePouvantail
Maybe Scarecrow and Riddler should get together and share a drink while remembering the Clown Prince of Crime?

There's no guarantee that's cannon with this iteration of the characters though. I think the B:TAS versions got along okay, they all used to make fun of whoever had been beaten by the bat most recently.

After the incident where Joker nearly beat Crane to death with a chair? Pretty sure Crane's not mourning his passing. XP

But acknowledging his passing might be fun, at least in a professional villain sense.

We should probably figure out the logistics of their villainous relationship. Crane rarely teams up with anyone, and when he does, it's either the Mad Hatter or a massive villain scheme.

Oh, wait, almost forgot about the Hush arc. Whether or not Hush exists (I personally don't care; he's near rock bottom on the totem of characters I care about), that at least shows they have at least once worked together, no issues.

Sans Hush, I could see him and Eddie having like, played chess in Arkham at some point, though. Very casual thing, and Crane is probably one of the few rogues who comes close to Eddie's level of intellect.

Edit: @ProPro, we both thought the same thing. XP That, and Crane and Joker rarely get along in ANY universe.

B:TAS has always been my favourite version of the Rogues Gallery and the image on the first page of the OOC makes me think of it so I was using that version. Not exactly friends but not really enemies either.

As for Hush, I never particularly liked that arc or the character but you're right, Eddie and Crane have worked together.

Eddie would wreck Crane at chess.

As a small note for everyone, I personally prefer to carve out a slightly different version of the characters rather than stick doggedly to what has been established in the canon.

Mine too. :D

My version of Crane is basically a hodgepodge of the pre-new 52 comics (I nope'd REAL hard at his new 52 variant and how his intro threw away a gorgeous, well-crafted back story for a Freudian Excuse), the FEW things I liked about Arkham Knight, B:TAS, and personal headcanon (like he used to have a clearly Southern accent and intentionally destroyed it as a way to distance himself from the family he hates, as well as better fit into Gotham).

So...pretty open to messing around. XD

I think most (if not everyone) would be on the same page with that. That's the great thing about comic characters, they lend themselves pretty well to multiple variant/original takes on their characterization because they've been handled differently by so many writers and their canon history is already all over the place :P

P.S. @Ruby changed the B:TAS-esque red sky image on the first page of the OOC and I'm still trying to convince her to change it back....>.>

Send me a PM and we can hash out some of the details of Eddie and Crane's previous dealings and relationship. I won't be able to answer it until tomorrow though.

@Jinny
I second that proposal, didn't even see that it had changed.
