Name: Helena Bertinelli
Age: Mid-20s
Alias: Don Bertinelli, the Huntress
Skills/Abilities:

Helena Bertinelli is an Olympic level athlete, tall and athletically built. Her training regiment remains extreme, and the equal of anything the NFL or Navy SEALs can offer.

She is one of the premiere marksmen in the world.

With an extensive and often times merciless martial arts training record, Helena has forged herself into an incredible martial artist.

On the surface a Technohobbyist, behind the scenes a technician, mechanic, and engineer that has been trained from the start to create her own tools and equipment, to depend on no one. Still room to improve as a hacker, and has no experience with hyper-advanced technology.

After a long campaign to successfully embed herself within the American Mafia, on top of her Sicilian upbringing, Helena holds all the resources and power of a Mafia Don without many realizing it. Thus far the Huntress has primarily used this as an intelligence resource.

Weaknesses:

The Tight Rope - Helena lives a life not even Bruce Wayne would live. While she is the vigilante Huntress at night, there is no break in intensity or danger with her day time persona: as Don Bertinelli, danger is always around her. One misstep, and everything falls apart. And if the Mafia ever found out Don Bertinelli was truly the Huntress...

Helena...Wayne? - According to Jim Gordon, the member of the Batfamily most similar to Batman in terms of personality is the Huntress. And that's not a good thing. Obsessed with her mission to the point of dehumanizing herself, it can be nearly impossible to get close to the Huntress, or Helena.

History:

Helena Bertinelli was born a princess in a Mafia Empire she blissfully knew nothing of. She knew her parents loved her, and her family loved to get together at her father's house. They would descend their home in Gotham Heights to see musicals in the city, or go to the zoo, or the circus, or the museums to see the dinosaur bones.

It was a happy childhood, until the day cruel men in black masks kidnapped her right after school ended at Saint Sebestation's in the Heights.

What exactly happened to Helena is hard to work out. Police reports suggest various mental and physical traumas, but Don Bertinelli pulled whatever strings necessary to ensure no one would examine his baby girl and put that filth on a report any of his enemies could pay some clerk to get ahold of. Her father told her to put it behind her, that "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger", and encouraged her not to speak of it again.

Not even a year later, a van full of masked gunmen burst into the Bertinelli estate in Gotham Heights, and murdered every living member of the Gotham City Bertinelli family. All except the little girl too numb to be scared; without fear little Helena could think, slipping under the corpse of a still bleeding out uncle, allowing her to escape the gunmen and live.

Immediately after Helena was returned to the Sicilian Bertinelli clan, the "mother clan." There was talk of marrying Helena off to a distant cousin, or a rapid riser in the Sicilian scene. It was then one of the greatest assassins of the early 20th century, Giovanni Bertinelli, took Helena with him one early morning to hunt fowl.

Giovanni would later admit perhaps he was pushing himself to find something when he took the girl hunting that morning. His own parents had been murdered in a war within the Cosa Nostra. He knew that drive for vengeance. Just as much as he knew a natural born killer when he saw one; and in Helena, he saw it in spades.

Helena Bertinelli had no childhood after that day. Her training began immediately and unrestricted. She holds a degree in Corporate Communications from the Sorbonne, and both a masters and PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics. She achieved this by the age of 22 while receiving training in secret from Giovanni and Lady Shiva.

Where her father was a quick minded and ruthless businessman and Don, Helena had become a true master in the art and science of international business. Applying such radical approaches to business as the Theory of Constraints, Lean theory, and Six Sigma, Helena bought failing and crumbling business after failing and crumbling business only to turn downsize, raise product quality, and worker efficiency...and in turn cost efficiency of the bottom line. Sometimes called a 'corporate terrorist', the result was nearly inevitable, what businesses would assist her the most in her ultimate goals were kept while all others were sold off piece by piece to the highest bidder.

When Helena Bertinelli returned to Gotham City it was on the cover of Business Week and being covered by Bloomberg and CNN. Using the ultimate power broker of money, Helena used to the fact that she could make more of it than anyone else available to usher her return to not only the Gotham Mafia, but to the American Mafia as a whole.

Now the majority owner but never direct manager of multi corporations, Helena has turned her focus squarely on Gotham City's Mafia...and her quest to ruin it from the inside-out. Taking on the mission given to her by God the day she played dead under the corpse of an uncle, Helena has decided a theatrical method of hitting the Mafia from the outside while secretly exposing and bleeding them from the inside by taking on the mantle of a former feared and dangerous enemy of the Gotham City Mafia: The Huntress.

Her revenge would leave a bloody trail across Gotham City, until the Batman finally caught up to her. Even he wasn't able to keep her from killing her final target, though the fallout between Batman and the new vigilante was intense, and would lead to Helena leaving the city. She'd return in secret to visit family graves, and pay respects. Instead she found herself caught into the Cataclysm--an earthquake that left Gotham City in ruin and cut off from the rest of the world. For reasons unknown to her, all of the Batfamily was out of the city when it happened; leaving the Bat mantle to her, and her alone.

When Bruce finally returned, he found her with a self made Bat suit, spray painting Bat signals, and chasing the Joker. He would return to Gotham as Batman during it's hour of greatest need, but in part out of respect for her efforts, and in part because he had no better options, Batman brought Huntress into the Cave and formally made her part of the Batfamily.

After Cataclysm, Helena would leave once again, taking the Huntress on an international crusade agaist organized crime, with a focus on human trafficking. Though she would accept an invitation to the Justice League, the Huntress wouldn't stay with the team long. Her latest return to Gotham City is not secret.

Despite her ties to the Batfamily, Helena is neither villain nor hero, merely a very dangerous and resourceful young woman on a fanatical quest to kill the Gotham Mafia for once and for all. A quest that can only end in her own death or the death of the Gotham City Mafia as it is known, or had ever been known. A fact she has willingly accepted.

  • Name: Kuroko Rayne
  • Age: 14
  • Alias: "The All New, All Different Robin!"
  • Appearance: A half-Japanese teenage girl with the build of a gymnast. She's not exactly tall and has a slim frame, and she accents her short, black hair with a dyed red streak. During the day she tends to dress in a tomboyish fashion, mostly wearing shorts and t-shirts. As her version of Robin, she wears a colourful leotard of red, green and yellow, alongside a similarly coloured cape and thighhigh boots. Her gloves have fins sticking out of them for deflecting knives and the like, and around her waist and thighs she wears rudimentary "utility belts", although obviously they're nowhere near as extensive in terms of utility as Batman's own belt. In an effort to conceal her identity, she wears a simple domino mask.
  • Skills/Abilities: Kuroko is a skilled gymnast, and in her civilian identity will often (rather truthfully) boast about being the best on the school team; whilst she's obviously not superhuman, she's still able to pull off feats of agility most regular people can only dream of. Whilst this means her fighting style mostly consists of tumbles, leaps and dives, she actually has a strong grounding in unarmed combat, having been taught martial arts from a young age; she's not world class or anything but she can still hold her own in a fight despite her age. In imitation of the other Robins (and, naturally, Batman), she wears a set of rudimentary utility belts; these include such things as a grappling hook, smoke pellets, pepper spray, itching powder and stink bombs. Her gloves have weighted knuckles to add additional force to her blows, and are finned to help her deflect knives and the like. Unlike the other, official Robins, she's not exactly a detective; whilst she can put two and two together when presented with the evidence, she doesn't think to go out of her way to look for leads and clues.
  • Weaknesses: Despite her enthusiasm, Kuroko is still new and inexperienced when it comes to costumed crimefighting. Really, she hasn't exactly thought this through all that well, and if she's not taken under the wing of a more experienced hero there's a rather good chance she's just going to get herself killed.

Name: Hope Sandoval

Age: 31

Alias: Detective Sandoval
Mrs. Mob

Appearance: With an above average height of six-foot-one, Hope cuts an impressive figure, or at least an impressive silhouette, if not an immediately intimidating one. And to be sure there is something to be intimidated about and it isn't the badge on her suspender straps nor the gun at her hip, but her physique which, thanks to frequent trips to the GCPD gym and a strictly governed dietary routine, is impressive. While she doesn't have the rippling, chiseled rock solid build, there is clear musculature to be found especially in her arms, and only a trace amount of body fat down with her thighs and calves. She needs the physique in order to keep up with those who have the advantage of masks, tights, and toys. Nothing against those types, of course, but just because the city has had its share of guardians doesn't mean she's going to sit around and sip on coffee and grow idle.

Hope keeps her hair short as it is a hassle to keep it in a ponytail or just out of the way of her eyes in general; it's for function and not fashion. More often than not she's attired in navy slacks, a button down top, and a navy suit jacket, though in her down time she's known to let her hair down, so to speak, and take on more casual outfits such as turtlenecks and jeans. Her face has a scar on her right cheek, a reminder of a moment gone horribly wrong; though it's healed now, no one in this line of work comes out unscarred. Hope is just fortunate that hers is more physical.

For reference's sake

Skills/Abilities: As with any member of the GCPD, Hope is skilled with her sidearm, though she definitely prefers not to have to use it for anything other than intimidation; in a pinch she serves as a fine marksman with pistols. She's taken self defense classes and while not an exceptional offensive fighter, if someone makes the first move in a fist fight - which she often allows them to do - she can more than hold her own within reason. As a detective her greatest strengths are her deductive reasoning and her keen eye, both of which come into play when she's investigating various crime scenes; ideally she'd sweep them clean before certain sorts decide to drop in and share their supposed expertise on the matter. She's a smart woman, but she can't always compete with people that literally have computers on speed dial.

Weaknesses: Hope has a tendency to let cases consume her which comes with the side effect of her no longer being able to think rationally or logically, and those in the know have exploited that in the past, subtly manipulating her into jumping the gun and jumping to conclusions in order to cause mistakes to be made. Fatal or otherwise. She has a fear of rats, which comes into play mostly when snooping around in less clean parts of the city.

History: Hope is a Gotham City lifer, someone who was born there and someone who was well aware she will most likely die there. She can only hope it's in doing her part to at least make her home a better place. Her mother didn't have a glamorous job, working for pennies at a diner in the heart of the city; but Hope respected that, she loved that her mother put up with terrible customers and even more terrible schedules just to make sure Hope didn't have to go hungry. Of course, her father did his part as well. Hope's father was a book keeper, an accountant, and that's all Hope ever knew him for. That, and his always nervous manner of speaking, as if he had to say things fast for some reason.

It wasn't until Hope joined the GCPD fresh from the Academy that she learned just what it was her father did for a living. In her first year on the Gotham beat, Hope was involved with a raid on a mob business; they were using an upscale restaurant as a front for their illicit activities, and the person in charge of the books for the restaurant was none other than her father. He was taken into police custody where he squealed quickly, giving up the names of his employers. This only led to the mob putting out a hit onto him and his family.

The hit came as expected, and her father was the first to go. Her mother was under police protection and put into witness protection and told to leave Gotham. When the hit came for Hope she survived and retaliated, but at the cost of the hitman missing his main target, Hope, and instead taking the life of an innocent, Hope's then girlfriend.

Needless to say, Hope harbors no love for the mafia or any of their activities and was all too willing to cooperate with the vigilanties. Her view was that if Gordon said they were okay then they were fine by Hope. Though now with Gordon retired and the Bat seemingly missing, Hope is willing to take it upon herself to keep things safe on the street level.

Name: Jonathan Crane
Age: 47
Alias: The Scarecrow
Appearance: 6'3", pale, messy brown hair, piercing blue eyes, tall, wiry frame. Out of costume, he wears old, but neat clothes (normally just a button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and slacks), square-rimmed glasses. Crane does have numerous circular and long scars on his back, chest, legs, and arms from childhood. While the scars on his forearms and hands have healed enough to hardly be noticed, he is self-conscious about the others and even in the summer has been known to wear pants and long sleeves. Due to a run-in with Killer Croc years ago, he has his left leg in a brace.

Crane’s costume has changed numerous times over the years, but he will adapt any image that looks fearsome and resembles his moniker, though he often finds himself going to the basics: trench coats, hats that hide his eyes, cloth masks. Things like this:

Minus that fancy yellow accessory. (Damn you, Luthor!)

Or this:

But thanks to his previously mentioned run-in with Croc, the question comes as to whether or not his mask is just that...or what’s left of his face. Either way, he seems to enjoy the look, and isn’t telling anytime soon.

Personality: Jonathan is almost a literal mask personality. While he does not suffer from Dissociative Identity Disorder, schizophrenia, or any similar disorder, it is notable that out of costume, he is much meeker and seclusive, more willing to submit and even show what’s left of his humanity, while in costume, he all but becomes a monster. Though this was much more prominent in his early criminal years, and while Jonathan has since given into the Scarecrow persona he built for himself, there are still shades of this, particularly in his rare moments of clarity in his madness.

Without the mask, he is normally very secluded and quiet, and enjoys nothing more than to settle down with a good book. Books are his particular comfort, as they both gave him reprieve from the world’s cruelties in childhood, and empowered him with the knowledge to change his situation. He cherishes them above everything else, to the point where he will wear out his clothes, starve, or let himself get hurt if it means a book will be taken care of. While he feels very little in terms of other human beings, often considering them hardly more than lab rats for his twisted experiments, Jonathan does have something resembling a soft spot for those facing horrific abuse or bullying, and at times has stepped in to protect such souls in his own twisted way (often landing him back in Arkham, but it’s the thought that counts, isn’t it?). Aside from books, fear, and chemistry, Jonathan’s other true love is teaching. While his insanity and obsessions have eaten his mind over the years, he has always held a desire to teach, and it is one of the increasingly few ways to connect with him on a more human level.

With the mask, the Scarecrow is a cruel, sadistic creature who initially hunted down those who wronged him, but like a virus, the feeling of power he gained from other people’s fear lead him to create bigger and greater thrills. No longer content with childhood bullies and family who betrayed him, the Scarecrow turned to unleashing his twisted experiments on this city in his twisted games with the Batman, whom he simultaneously fears and respects.

Very, very rarely does Jonathan find a balance between two extremes, where he functions on an almost normal level and craves a simpler life, often taking a new identity to attempt to go straight and build a new life for himself. These rare attempts always inevitably fail, either due to interference with the Batman, his own lust for fear and power, and/or circumstances beyond his control ruin what little peace and happiness he gained.

Skills/Abilities: Able to read and manipulate people, and he is very in tune with picking it out fear in others. Proficient in chemistry; he uses this knowledge to create his fear serums and toxins. Crane is not much of a fighter, but has his variant of the crane-style kung-fu which he refers to as "violent dancing": a defensive tactic to keep an enemy at bay, though this is often a last-resort. He can also wield and utilize a scythe, and does have decent marksmanship with small handguns---he did start his criminal career as a hitman, after all, and often uses small tranquilizer guns to hit targets with fear serum darts at longer ranges. At times, he dons a needle glove.

Weaknesses: Crane is physically no threat; most of his fighting moves are for defense purposes that maybe buy him a few minutes at best to run, and is usually taken down pretty easily with a sock to the jaw. His fear experiments over the years, while granting him immunity to his own fear serum, have ironically left him susceptible to other psychotropic drugs. His criminal years and habit of experimenting on himself have taken their toll on his mind and body; Crane is very aware that he may not live to see 50 either due to his health choices, or due to the enemies he’s made over the years and simply doesn’t care. One could say he is addicted to fear itself, as his self-experiments often push his own mental limits, and as a result, he is nearly devoid of all other emotion. Crane also suffers from ornithophobia---a fear of birds, and chiroptophobia---a fear of bats. While the latter is obvious, at times, he will have a crow companion at his side, as a ploy to keep his enemies from figuring out the former. Despite this, Crane has embraced and even weaponized his fears to use against his enemies. Some childhood trauma has also never left him: while he is very good at keeping this particular fear hidden, even into adulthood, he never quite got over his fear of Mary, and some of her “teachings” affect how he sees himself and makes his choices.

History: Jonathan Crane was born in Arlen, Georgia. His father, Gerald Crane, abandoned him before he was born, and his mother, Karen Keeny, disappeared shortly after giving birth. Whether she abandoned him of her own volition or was coerced doesn’t matter, only that he was raised by his great-grandmother, Mary Keeny, who in his own words, "maintained him," and raised him in a loveless atmosphere. Mary was a religious sadist, often turning a blind eye to Jonathan’s torment at school, and enjoyed making him work long hours in the cornfield. Whenever she felt he stepped out of line, Mary punished him by locking him in an old church/aviary and allowing the crows to come down and attack him. This particular punishment left scars on Crane’s body as well as his mind. It also lead to Mary’s ironic demise when he learned how she trained them and turned the tables on her---while he was still in high school.

He was never liked at school, and was often the victim of cruel and malicious pranks by his peers. Because of his thin, almost emaciated-looking form, he was often compared to Ichabod Crane from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. He was also often compared to a scarecrow, a moniker from which he later took his criminal alias. With Mary’s demise under his belt, Crane started utilizing his newfound knowledge to start getting back at his tormentors, often with mixed results. The most notable incident was the night of his senior prom, where his scare tactics lead to one car swerving off the road and paralyzing his longtime enemy, Bo Griggs, for life, and the death of Griggs' girlfriend, Sherry Squires, whom Crane had once adored. (She should have been wearing her seatbelt!)

After graduating from high school, Crane continued both his studies of fear and of chemistry. He started his tenure as a professor of subliminal psychology under his mentor, Professor Pigeon. A promising young teacher and emboldened with an outstanding record, Crane utilized a rather unorthodox lesson to make a point about his theory about the power of fear: he fired a blank during on of his student’s lectures. While his lesson inspired all As that term, it cost him his career.

Unable to teach again, Crane turned to his other loves---fear and chemistry---and set out on a criminal career as the Scarecrow, starting out as a killer-for-hire and leaving pieces of straw as a calling card, an act that caught the attention of the Batman and ignited their rivalry.

During his first year as the Scarecrow, Jonathan lead the Batman along a killing spree, in which he targeted friends and family for their various wrongs: Professor Pigeon, who failed to defend him prior to his dismissal, Marion Keeny/Olivia Dove, the grandmother who wanted him dead as a baby, Gerald Crane who abandoned him, Karen Keeny who dared to start a new life with a new child, and his baby half-sister who would have been given the fair chance at life that he never had. All of this built up to the opportunity for him to see Gotham’s savior tremble in terror. Batman and Robin managed to stop him from killing the latter three, though not before Crane had instilled a good bit of terror into both of his parents. In their final showdown, Crane supposedly drowned in a river just off Karen’s property.

When he resurfaced again, the Scarecrow continued his on-going quest to understand the nature and origins of fear, his schemes often involving turning Gotham's citizens into unwilling pawns for his experiments. Most of his later schemes have graduated from personal vendettas to citywide chaos, though whenever an old enemy resurfaces, he makes it a point to hunt them down and make them suffer. Once in a while, however, Crane has utilized his knowledge of fear and phobias to try to help another, such as his best student, Molly Randall, by terrorizing the boy who hurt her, Becky Albright by giving her the chance to turn the tables on her tormentors (she refused), and Lindsey, whom he encouraged to face her fears and take down several classmates who made her life hell.

Putting him in Arkham has arguably made the Scarecrow more dangerous, as he has had access---and at times made himself an ally to---the likes of the Mad Hatter and the Joker. He does also get along with some of the other inmates, such as Harley Quinn.

In later years, however, Crane's experiments have taken a toll on his health. His own fear serum, after numerous uses, has made him unable to feel fear at all, and as it stands, he has yet to find a permanent way to fix this. As mentioned, he has to use a leg brace, but walks just fine with it. His numerous run-ins with the Batfamily, in particular the Batman, have done their work on his mind, often leaving him broken and fragile after an encounter and forcing him to build himself up again and again, with each time sacrificing more of his humanity as he allows his obsession with fear to grow stronger.

Name: Anton Bolton

Age: 43

Alias: Razor Bat

Appearance: Anton Bolton - Razor Bat

Skills/Abilities: He is a tech genius whose specialty is creating apps for smartphones. As Razor Bat, he is able to program those apps into his suit. This includes having an HUD that monitors the health of people as well as the ability to create way points by routing his GPS program. However, his signature app is the ability to turn any Razor-made phone into a receiver, making him able to get a sonar map of whatever it sees in a five foot radius. However, its limitations are that the phones must be not only active, but within an area that has cellphone reception. If the phone is shut off or under heavy concrete, he's not getting its info. Other than regular apps you find on a smartphone and two grappling hooks on the sides of his belt, Razor Bat lacks in gadgetry compared to the other Bat Family members. However, what he lacks in tech, he more than makes up for in armor. Not only is the suit made of heavy armor capable of surviving a fifty foot drop and taking fifty bullets before it gets a scratch, but his gauntlets can pack a punch due to the hardness of the metal.

Weaknesses: He has a willingness to spare villains, not out of moral compasses, but rather because he knows Gotham's prison system is a revolving door and that he'll never run out of bad guys to stomp for the purpose of promoting his company. His other weakness is the overwhelming sense of egotism that he had poured into Razor Limited. If he feels like his brand's being insulted, he will stop at nothing to ensure that the insulters are taken care of and may take great joy in it.

History: Anton Bolton was the wealthy president of Razor Limited, makers of the popular smartphone Razor. However, five years ago, scandal hit his company when it was revealed that Razor's newest app allowed for companies to get a sonar image from the phones, allowing them to see and locate where ever people are. People were furious with this breach of privacy and while Anton was able to do some PR control, he was forced to retire and hand the company to his son, John Bolton. For the next five years, he stewed away in his home, watching as his company dwindled into obscurity. The straw that broke the camel's back was when he read up on his son's emails and noticed that a deal would be made in which Razor Limited would be bought out with a rival company: Wayne Enterprises. He called his son out on selling out the company, which led to a heated argument where John reveals that, with the damaged reputation that Razor had, it was forced to gain good publicity by merging with an already great company. Furious, Anton left and spent the next few days holed up in a motel as he glued his eyes to the news, watching closely on the economy for the deal between Razor and Wayne to be struck. As he did so, he also watched footage of Batman beating up criminals and how he managed to get publicity. The wheels in his head turned when news of Batman disappeared and left a hole in Gotham that needed to be filled. With Batman gone, Anton felt like this would be the chance to promote his brand. Creating a suit from the technology at his company, Anton set out to fight Gotham's nasties as the Razor Bat.

Name: Samuel Bradley

Age: 44

Alias: Slam Bradley

Appearance:

Skills/Abilities: No powers. Slam is an adept fighter with boxing and police firearm training. He is also a skilled detective with over twenty years experience as cop.

Weaknesses: Bullets, booze, and broads.

History:

Samuel "Slam" Bradley grew up in Gotham's East End. A tough neighborhood, Slam was a scrapper and boxed Golden Gloves as a teen. After a knee injury ended his boxing career, Slam went into the only profession that would take a lug like himself: a cop.

Starting out as a beat cop, Slam eventually made detective and worked his way through assignments until he became a sergeant with the GCPD's Homicide Bureau. Partnered with Detective James Gordon, Slam and Jim were among the few non-corrupt officers in the GCPD. Fighting against the corrupt department and the everyday bleakness of the job had Slam on the verge of burnout until the case that killed his career came along.

It started out simple enough, a dead hooker found in a back alley. The case began to spin out of control, implicating a state senator, a high-end call girl service, and half of Gotham's politicians. The brass tried to bump Slam off of the case, but he refused to leave. In the end, he was dismissed from the GCPD on trumped up charges, accused of fraud because of a mislabeled time sheet. Out of a job, Slam took his connections and investigation skills and branched out on his own as a private investigator. When he's not tipping a bottle, he works as a PI for hire in and around the city.

Age

Alias

Bastion

Appearance

Charlie has messy brown hair that he tries to style up, but is often left hanging down over his forehead. His eyes are a deep blue. His mouth is upturned into a perpetual smile, which gives him a rather mischievous look. When he's going around Gotham as Charlie Williamson, he dresses casually, some might even call it grungy. Flannels and band tees, beat up converse, and skinny jeans. In other words, he dresses like most other teenagers. However, when he becomes Bastion, he puts on a suit of his own design. A black cape with a hood over an all black suit made of a material that absorbs punches but in no way makes him invulnerable. The suit is a jacket that zips up to the neck, and black, form fitting pants. A utility belt clips on at his waist and holds a number of useful items, such as smoke bombs and tear gas. He wears a domino mask over his eyes, and combat boots on his feet. His hands are protected by metal wrist guards and a pair of gloves with hardened knuckles, perfect for packing an unsuspecting punch.

Skills/Abilities

Charlie is incredibly intelligent and resourceful, with an IQ that is near genius level. He's great at solving puzzles and riddles, and he's an gifted inventor. In fact, he designed all of his equipment himself. He's also a skilled fighter, agile and strong, a trait that he gained from years of training at a boxing gym. While he isn't a master fist fighter by any means, he can hold his own, and with a bow staff or even just his fists, he's a force to be reckoned with.

Weaknesses

Charlie's greatest weaknesses are his hubris and impulsiveness. He's far too confident in his abilities and his intelligence, despite only being on the streets for two months. He tends to rush into situations without a clear plan, which has worked out for him so far, but he won't get that lucky forever. He's also loyal to a fault, and willing to do anything for his friends and family, even if that something is detrimental to himself.

History

Born to a gifted engineer and the founder of Williamson Tech, Charlie lived a rather charmed life with his mother in the nicer part of Gotham. While growing up, he heard magnificent tales about Batman, the protector of Gotham, and his sidekick, Robin. These tales led him to force his mother to let him learn how to fight, and she eventually allowed him to learn how to kick box, albeit reluctantly.

As he grew older he was enrolled at Gotham Academy, where he is still enrolled at. There, he took an interest in inventing, much like his mother, and he began creating makeshift gadgets that made his and his friends' lives easier. When he was fifteen, these inventions saved him and his then girlfriend. When a group of thugs attacked them, a ring that he'd turned into a sort of taser, left them all on the ground, gasping for breath.

This event gave him a slight hero complex, and he strived to regain that feeling he had felt when he saved him and his girlfriend's lives. He embarked on the journey to become Bastion. Over the next two years, he designed the suit, the gadgets, and the persona, finally deciding on what exactly he needed. Stealing the supplies from his mom's workshop, as well as the workshop at Williamson Tech, he made his weapons and his suit, along with some useful field tools. Most of his other funding that he needed came from dipping into his mother's bank account. It's been two months since Bastion first appeared on the streets, and while he's still only a rumor to most, he's been taking on bigger and bigger jobs, especially since Batman's disappearance.

William Cobb circa 2016

Skills/Abilities:
- Knife Throwing
- Acrobatics
- Hand to Hand Combat
- Escapology

Weaknesses:
- Emotional Instability: William is emotionally unstable and despite his usual calm and collected demeanour, when things don’t go his way, he is prone to losing control and making decisions on a whim.

History

On a Knife Edge
William Cobb was born on October 10th 1901 to middle class family. Tragedy struck early on when his father died in an industrial accident when building a bridge for Cameron Kane. Unable to make ends meet, William and his mother fell into adversity. Resorting to petty theft, the young boy by chance crossed paths with a thief known as Miro Volkov. Taking pity on the little man, Miro brought him under his wing and into Haly’s Circus. His mother sadly passed a short time after, murdered by an unknown assailant. Miro taught William how to juggle and eventually this graduated from balls to knives and the boy became the circus’s post popular knife thrower; all the while aiding Miro in his more and more spectacular heists. The two worked seamlessly together, everything running like clockwork. Everything was timed and precise, with jobs being planned out months in advance. They were living on a knife edge and life couldn’t have been better.

The Gray Son of Gotham
When he returned to Gotham City at the age of twenty, a large crowd applauded their hometown celebrity. One woman caught William’s eye though. Her name was Amelia. She was the daughter of one of Gotham's elite and an original child of Gotham. The two fell in love at first sight. The two began dating and they were happy together. They were two children in love. Little did they know, it was the beginning of the end. One day when walking into her house, Amelia's father Burton Crowne asked to speak with Cobb. He told William that there are only two people in life (the rich and the poor), no room for grey. Burton had banned him from ever seeing Amelia again, but not before making her pregnant beforehand. Despondent, William told Miro whom in turn revealed a secret, he was an assassin and all the time they had been together, he had been training William to take his place. With that, Miro finally revealed his true colours. He offered the man a choice, get revenge on Burton and become the next Talon or Miro would kill Amelia and the unborn child. Taking option A – William and Miro broke into the Crowne estate and murdered Burton in his sleep. He then was ushered away in secret and began his training to become the Talon.
12 months later, William returned to Gotham and he broke back into Amelia's house. Aware of the legacy of the Talons, he resided himself to steal his then born son into the night. Outside of the house, he met Nathaniel, his boss at Haly’s Circus and handed him the baby, "Raise him in secret, Nathaniel...prepare him for my legacy. My son. The Gray Son of Gotham". This baby would become John Grayson's father, and his son, Dick Grayson's grandfather.

The Demon's Head | Talia al Ghul | Assassin

Name: Talia al Ghul

Age: Mid 30's

Aliases: Talia Head, Miranda Tate, Daughter of the Demon, Talia Demon, The Demon's Head, Kali, Tiamat, Medusa, Red Queen, Mother of Skeletons

Skills/Abilities: Genius Level Intellect | Business Management | Hand-to-Hand Combat (Advanced) | Marksmanship | Swordsmanship

Talia is a regular human with no superpowers. She is in peak physical form, on par with Bruce and other elite heroes from Gotham. Due to her training, Talia is a master of both armed and unarmed combat. Her weapons knowledge extends from simple weapons to advanced modern weapons. She is also a master tactician, which has been necessary in her dealings in crime and espionage. These skills also transfer well to her being adept at seduction. She has also shown exceptional strategic ability, proven by her proficiency in commanding the complex and multi-faceted crime empire established by her father Ra's al Ghul.

Weaknesses: Loyal to a fault | Impulsive | Arrogant | Immensely protective of her son, Damian | More vulnerable than she lets on

History: Talia is the daughter of Ra's al Ghul, serving as his closest advisor during his time as the leader of the League of Assassins. Though she has often been used as a tool or weapon for her father's schemes she is nevertheless a highly intelligent and capable fighter and strategist in her own right. Her achievements and capabilities were often overlooked by Ra's, seen as less admirable because of her gender. Despite Ra's lack of affection and respect toward Talia she was unfailingly loyal to him, a product of her training within the League since she was a child. Just the same, Ra's never considered Talia to be a worthy heir, thinking of her as simply a means to an end in achieving a male who might inherit his empire. He targeted Batman, considering the world's greatest detective to be the ideal heir to the al Ghul legacy, and commanded Talia to capture his attention. Ra's plan backfired, however, and while Talia was successful at seducing Batman she also found herself attracted to him. As their affection toward one another grew the conflicting nature of their paths would become an increasingly troublesome problem. Talia and Bruce would turn out to be star-crossed lovers, as her loyalty to Ra's and her love of Bruce often found her at odds with herself. Matters only became more complicated when Talia discovered she was pregnant, and Bruce nearly died trying to protect her. Realizing she would only endanger the man she loved, Talia feigned a miscarriage and ended her tumultuous relationship with Bruce.

Nine years pass and Talia now has a son with hair as black as pitch and icy blue eyes, the spitting image of his father. She has named him Damian. Ra's has seized control of the boy's life, grooming him to be a killer, a leader, and a conquerer. Talia's contact with her own son is limited, and Ra's feels her judgement as a mother and a woman compromises her ability to tolerate what he considers necessary cruelty in training Damian. Talia wanted nothing more than for Damian to receive the love Ra's had never shown her and that she felt incapable of giving him. She also desired for her son to be free of the influence of the League so that he might retain some semblance of the humanity her own father had denied her. Impulsively, she secreted Damian away and took him to the only man she trusted to keep him safe: Bruce Wayne.

Another two years pass, and Talia has inherited leadership of the League of Assassins after her father's sudden and inexplicable disappearance. While in service as the head of the League she has redirected the objective of the empire, both in the use of her assassins as well as cultivating alternative uses for the many Lazarus Pits Ra's had discovered. Her son, Damian, has been living with his father and has informed her that Bruce has been missing. She returns to Gotham with the League in tow, taking up headquarters in the highly reinforced Nykawa Center. While her primary concern is to stay close to Damian and see to his safety, she's also attempting to mine her resources to decipher details on the possible whereabouts of the Batman. Simultaneously, Talia is orchestrating secret experiments to develop a Lazarus Serum, an advanced healing and anti-aging treatment derived from diluted samples taken from the Lazarus Pits. There's just the matter of eliminating the pesky side-effect of insanity afflicting the human test subjects before making the serum available for purchase to the highest bidder. And in a city like Gotham such an item falling into the hands of the wrong person could prove very dangerous.

Name: Vincent Costello

Age: 24

Alias: Tommy Gun Tom

Appearance: 5'10" with a thin but slighly muscular build. Has pale skin, blue eyes and red hair with a stubble beard. Wears a hand made and tailored suit with a trench coat and hat, basically looks like a gangster from a movie. Only wewrs the trench coat when going on jobs, or when it gets cold. Wears a hat and leather motorcycle mask to conceal his identity.

http://mrjunimon.deviantart.com/art/Venganza-324620802

Skills/Abilities: He is an expert on Hit and Run tactics. He hits hard and fast and then gets out quickly. Can fight well with just about any weapon from guns, knives, fists and broken glass.

Weaknesses: He is vain, arrogant, prideful and anything but subtle. Because of the tactics he uses, he never fights fair, and if it looks like it may turn into a fair fight, he will make a run for it.

History: Growing up as the youngest of a family of seven in the bad part of Gotham may be rough for most people, but Vincent wasn't like most people. His whole time growing up was devoted to learning. Not learning to read and write and how to do math, although he does know how to do that, but more along the lines of learning how to be streetwise. Being the youngest, he usually got hand me downs, and only got new stuff on his birthday and at christmas. In order get himself new stuff more regularly, he learned how to become a pickpocket.

At the age of 9 he preformed his first mugging, which he perfromed on the local neighbourhood bully. He knew he was big enough or strong enough to take out a 16 year old in a fair fight, so he chose not to fight fair. He ran behind the kid and kicked him in the groin, then threw hot spices in his face, all the while wearing a hoodie and hockey mask. He never got got caught, till one day when he was 15 he was performing a mugging, when Batman showed up. You can guess what happened next.

He spent 3 years in Juvie, and then was released. After that, he worked odd jobs for people, both legal and illegal ones. If the money was good, he'd do it, and if it was illegal he became better at his tactics and was never caught, always managing to get away. He has performed in every job given to him, debt collection, kidnapping, theft, murder and has even robbed armoured cars, though some jobs he does turn down, either because he didn't like the pay, the plan, the person or the job itself. Now that Batman has disappeared and the mob is coming back, buisness is booming. His preferred weapon is a Thompson Machine Gun, hence the name Tommy Gun Tom, the Tom bit is because it sounded right in the papers.

Name:
Edward Nigma

Age:
Forty eight years old

Alias:
The Riddler

Appearance:
Edward is never seen without his signature green suit, purple tie and patronising grin, unless he's recently been apprehended by Batman, in which case he wears orange asylum overalls and a disgruntled scowl. Getting on a little in years, Nigma now likes to use a question mark cane as well. Some sources suggest it may contain concealed weapons, though Nigma rarely deigns to do something as thuggish as fight someone in hand-to-hand combat.

Skills/Abilities:
- Genius level intellect, particularly when presented with puzzles and riddles.
- Experienced planner and manipulator
- Many contact in the Gotham underworld and Supervillain circles, veteran baddie
- Independently wealthy, having stashed money from legal and illegal deeds for years.

Weaknesses:
- Obsessed with riddles and proving his intellectual superiority
- Compulsively leaves clues for others to figure out his motives, location and actions
- Physically weak and has little skill with personal combat

History:
As a young boy, Edward saw the tests and questions his teachers presented him with as nothing more than puzzles with solutions so obvious, it almost wasn't worth solving them. He did though and was rapidly advanced through different schooling systems and to more and more prestigious establishments. Although young Edward's success meant that he went to better schools on scholarships, his early success greatly frustrated his father, a man who hadn't achieved in his entire life a quarter of what his son had in less than ten years. The man could not accept that his son was gifted or intelligent, instead choosing to believe his son was somehow cheating on every test he took. Whenever Edward brought home a school card full of straight As, his father beat him and demanded that he reveal his method of deception.

His father's actions had a profound affect on Edward. Despite not being able to satisfactorily explain to his father how it was he had passed every test ever presented to him, the attacks quickly drummed a lesson into his mind; the truth must be told. Throughout his childhood, the young man was unflinchingly honest and often received still more trouble for it. We all know that sometimes it is better to lie than to tell the truth, whether it's to protect someone's feelings or to save ourselves answering some unnecessary questions. And so now Edward had two conflicting messages, one saying that lying was wrong and the other that the truth could get you into trouble.

By the time he was thirteen, the young Nigma had come upon a solution. He simply found ways to tell the truth that were not immediately obvious to a listener. He was say one thing while meaning another by shifting his tone or allow the other person to leap to conclusions by not finishing sentences. And yet this still felt a little too much like lying to him so, during a class trip to the carnival, he was delighted by his discovery of riddles. Here was a way to put the truth in front of someone's face and defy them to understand it. It was here that Edward began both an extensive study of the history and mythology of riddles and to amass a vast collection of esoteric facts to serve as props for his riddles.

Edward eventually left both school and his father behind, becoming first an investor, then a banker and finally a security advisor. While the stock market had been an interesting game, it was too chaotic for his tastes, too lacking in carefully constructed rules. In short, it wasn't puzzle like enough for him. That's not to say he didn't make an awful lot of money during his two previous careers though, he made an awful lot of cash that he carefully stashed away in different accounts and funds. But as a secuirty advisor, designing and manning advanced security systems, he felt he might have found his true calling. Edward was able to create puzzles and riddles for intruders (though he personally thought of them as contestants) that lead them one way or the other, depending on whether they guessed right. And watching through his CCTV cameras, Nigma had the time of his life.

It all got stale soon though, for the average thief or burglar isn't particularly interested in solving complex riddles, they'd rather just cut the power to the building, smash a window and grab whatever their desire is. Or, if the puzzles were too complex, simply give up and leave. Edward realised that the fun was going out of his games because his contestants were a) too stupid and b) had the ability to leave whenever they wanted to. If he really wanted full satisfaction, he'd have to create an environment where they couldn't leave and had to apply their full concentration to escape. Maybe he should make some of the traps deadly?

It was a fateful night that he began designing some more lethal riddles because one of the many buildings he was monitoring was being broken into. The thief, or should that be cat-burglar, was very carefully navigating around every single one of the Edward's riddles and traps, using the ceiling, floor, air ducts and whatever else she pleased. It so annoyed Nigma that he was about to trip the alarm himself when he saw another figure, a shadowy giant with pointed ears. Where the thief was going round the puzzles, the newcomer was solving them with almost contemptuous ease. If anything, he seemed to be gaining ground on the feline intruder! Edward could hardly believe his eyes as the two of them waltzed in through his meticulously designed security system without a care in the world, being rude enough to leave without even stealing anything, not that the cat-burglar didn't try.

Now Edward was both incensed and exhilarated. Someone had beaten his traps and without apparent effort, solving puzzles and riddles alike. This was the person to go through his newly designed, lethal maze, the perfect contestant to try it out. And what better way to show that pointy eared fool that he only got through Nigma's system because Nigma wasn't ready than to kill him! So Edward constructed, concealed and baited the trap, leaving out riddles all over Gotham for his foe and taking a hostage to provoke the other's heroic nature. When he finally arrived, the puzzle master was waiting and eager for the games to begin. But it happened again, the newly named Batman seemed completely unimpressed with these new challenges! And what was worse was that he found some small clues that might lead him straight to Nigma!

But Edward couldn't stop. He constructed a new set of traps in his own home, sure this time he would defeat the Bat. When he ended up in Arkham Asylum a week later, it was in a state of shock, confusion and despair. It took many months of rotting in a cell for Nigma to realise what must have happend; Batman must have cheated! The filthy rodent! Well Edward would show him! He'd show them all!

That was around the second year of Batman's dark crusade. Ever since, Nigma has been a constant thorn in the side of the Bat, testing his intellect again and again while convinced that he can never match the mental prowess of the king of questions without cheating. Early on in both their careers, the press labelled Edward 'The Riddler' and it appealed to him. He soon adopted it as his 'supervillain' name and got himself a matching outfit.

Name: Katherine Kane
Age: 28
Alias: Batwoman
Appearance: Batwoman, Kate
Skills/Abilities:

  • Acrobatics: Kate is quite skilled in gymnastics, having trained in the sport since she was very young and making it to senior elite level.
  • Hand-to-Hand Combat (Advanced): Kate received basic training at West Point, then further, more intensive training in various martial arts during her travels around the world.
  • Investigation: Kate has studied under experts in forensic science, law, behavioural science and criminology, learning methods both high-tech and old-school for tracking down criminals.
  • Interrogation: While Batwoman does a lot of physical intimidation and violent interrogation work, she wouldn't torture or deliberately maim people.
  • Intimidation: Kate can leverage her considerable presence, her excellent training in psychology and interrogation, being obviously willing and able to hit people really really hard, suddenly shifting toward protectiveness, etc. to achieve remarkable results.
  • Gadgetry: Kate is adept in the art of tinkering with things both mechanical and electronic.
  • Computer Hacking: Kate is capable of hacking and some basic programming, but more importantly, of keeping her own computers and gadgets from being hacked or traced.
  • Stealth: Kate is a master of stealth, as noted by Batman, being so good that even Supergirl didn't notice her, even with her advanced hearing.

Weaknesses: Cardiac Weakness: During a previous confrontation with Intergang, Kane was stabbed in the heart by Bruno Mannheim. Since then, despite therapy and a healthy recovery, scarring remains and she is not as good as she might otherwise be.
History: The daughter of a pair of career soldiers, Kate often moved across the world as they were posted to different places. However, while they were living in Belgium, she was forced to bear the trauma of watching her mother and twin sister being executed by terrorists serving the Religion of Crime.

In an attempt to please her father, Kate entered the United States Naval Academy in order to train as a Marine officer. However, while at Annapolis she entered into a relationship with her room-mate, leading to her dishonourable discharge. Her father did not hold this against her, however, considering it more important that she had chosen not to lie in order to save herself.

Her father eventually married weapons heiress Catherine Hamilton. This new wealth established Kate as a socialite in Gotham City's upper crust. She became notorious for her partying and drinking.

One night after a party, she was pulled over by officer Renee Montoya. Instead of being fined for drink driving, the two entered in a relationship. They broke up when Renee told her she had no direction in her life, no education, and no apparent goal. She found her purpose soon enough: when she was confronted by a mugger in an alleyway, she was saved by Batman.

She decided to become a vigilante too. With her father's help, she travelled all over the planet for two years to learn how to fight. Her father used to family fortune and connections to come up with experimental weaponry.

Name: Shousei Kougami
Age: 108
Alias: Lord Death Man
Appearance: "EEEEYYY."

Skills/Abilities: A master contortionist and criminal mastermind, king of Japan's criminal underground. Through his mastery of the yoga arts, Lord Death Man has ceased to age and transcended death itself. He returns from death shortly after the fact, fully healed and raring to go. He has an eidetic memory. He doesn't sleep, and his brain cells never die.

Weaknesses: He's pretty noticeable, and has a very different idea of how a criminal enterprise should run from most Gothamites. While he revives fully healed, he must heal damage he survives normally. However, obsessing about vengeance for a decade has left him a bit... unhinged.

History: Ever since the 1940's, one name has been synonymous with Japanese crime: the immortal supervillain, Death Man. Generations of superheroes have risen to face him, and withered in the face of father time. This is because Death Man can afford to play the long game. No one is sure where this skull-faced marauder comes from, who he really is, or what allows him a level of mastery the most dedicated of yoga mystics can only dream of.

The answers are surprisingly simple. Shousei Kougami was born in 1908 to a fisherman and a prostitute, and was left at an orphanage. At the age of nine, he was sent to live with Buddhist monks. These monks were the keepers of one of eight scrolls, each holding a portion of the true knowledge the first yoga mystics discovered. Contemplation of these secrets, detachment from the world, allowed the monks to recover from nearly injury. For eight years, he was raised in the strict environment of the monastery, watching as they performed amazing feats, forever told that he would receive the mystical power when he was spiritually ready. Well, that just made him mad, so he broke into the main building one night and stole the sacred scrolls containing the teachings of the monastery's founder. Thus, at the age of 13, Shousei committed his first theft and joined the yakuza. He worked loyally, serving as a lookout and decoy for years and slowly working his way up to an actual member of the family. Things began looking up for him during a heist in 1941, when he stole one of the remaining scrolls from a museum. This allowed a breakthrough in his practice of the scrolls, and began noticing his body was more flexible than ever. Over the coming days, more and more secrets revealed themselves- all the secret yoga powers of the mystics, his to command. It wasn't long before he challenged the heads of the families, using his newfound immortality to kill them off one by one.

It wasn't long before the police began talking. Calling him "Death Man," describing him as a twisted version of the American Mystery Men. Death Man took his new mantle, becoming the head of organized crime in a large section of Japan, using his yoga powers to maintain his position and gather followers- thugs, spiritualists, ninja, genius investors, the indigenous monsters of Japan. Lord Death Man's syndicate was unstoppable... but never moved beyond organized crime. After all, while he had a powerful criminal empire, there was no sense risking it by getting greedy. No, he had a clear goal in mind: to maintain his power in Japan's criminal underworld and use that power to track down the remaining six scrolls, as well as any mystical artifacts or discarded superhero gear he can get his hands on. His search for the remaining scrolls didn't really pan out, but he's spent 75 years on the effort so he's not stopping now.

Over the years, his criminal empire has brought him into conflict with the Bat Family a few times. However, his final confrontation with Batman involved the caped crusader shoving him in a safe and launching him into orbit. He spent over a decade in absolute darkness, dying and reviving in the cold, harsh vacuum of space. Lord Death Man believes that this was entirely unmerited torture. He wasn't a metahuman, he had no special powers other than his immortality- why was normal prison not enough? Ten years later, he came down after the safe imprisoning him crashed into a telecommunications satellite over Japan, sending him hurtling to Earth. Ten years, he spent formulating his plot for revenge. He returned to the underworld, killing those who tried to take his place, and declaring his intent to have revenge upon the Batman... only to discover that Batman was gone. He gathered the remnants of his splintered empire, leaving his lieutenants to handle things. If Lord Death Man can't kill Batman, he'll settle for bleeding Gotham dry.

Name: Donovan Booth
Age: 36
Alias: "First-Degree" Donny
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 160 pounds

Appearance: A slight man with no eyebrows, a baby-face, emerald eyes, and greasy ginger hair, Donny is without a doubt an unassuming individual. He almost always wears black pants and dress shoes with suspenders and black gloves, though commonly hides his equipment and features beneath a trenchcoat and hat. He always wears a tie, though the color and design of it frequently changes. He speaks with a nasally Downeast accent, one that most people find pervy sounding.

Personality: Donny is what would be called an ubermensch. He follows his own code and does as he wants, believing only in his own will and the in the cold steel of his .44 Magnum. He follows orders because he likes having something to do, and what he likes to do is murder.
He is unbelievably crafty, and as mean as an Arizona rattler. He frequently feigns emotion and warmth to stay on just the right side of socially passable by modern standards, but he has no qualms about being a public nuisance. He is quite skilled at being annoying, and uses it as a tool to pick fights. He enjoys smoking, but only does so before and after a kill.

Skills/Abilities: Donny looks like a geeky dad, the kind of embarrassing adult that could be found doing jumping jacks in neon dolphin shorts down at the local YMCA. This is a strength. Hardly anyone ever suspects just how obscenely dangerous he really is. His physicality is comparable to that of a highly trained marine, as he consistently trains to stay in peak condition. He has over seventeen years of experience in urban combat as an elite mafia goon, with at least 172 confirmed kills. Though he is a capable hand-to-hand fighter, he by far prefers mid-range firefights. He is a true "dead eye" with his selected firearms, and can hit a fly at ninety-one meters with his .44 Magnum, the weapon he favors above all others. Such is his skill with the gun that he can fire off all six shots in less than a second by fanning the hammer, whilst still maintaining near-perfect accuracy. For reference as to the Magnum's power, the slugs can rip through armor like rice paper and put a four inch hole through a steel cooking pan at three hundred feet.

Weapons and Equipment-

-Raging Bull .44 Magnum revolver with a Mernickle quick draw holster and seven moon clips (48 shots total) on his belt on the right side.

-Tommy Gun with two spare 100-round drums (300 shots total) slung over his back.

-Five pull-pin fragmentation grenades with optional tripwires on his belt.

-Six inch switchblade in his pocket. It has a ring clip at the hilt base.

-Claw hammer holstered at his belt.

-Customized retractable high-density golf club made just for braining folks holstered at his belt. It has a ring clip at the hilt base.

-Fifteen foot razor sharp microfilament garrote wire reel concealed within a wristwatch that can be withdrawn via clip ring. It is almost invisible to the naked eye, sharp enough to cut through bone with some effort, and can withstand up to 2,100 pounds of tension without breaking.

-Spring loaded five-inch knives within the heels and toes of his shoes that will jut out when a switch on the instep is triggered.

-Pair of quarter-pound S.A.P black combat gloves weighted with lead. They are fashioned from a high density polymer that can resist being cut by the garrote wire.

-A heavy duty bullet proof vest that can stop even the largest of slugs.

-Can of FOX military grade pepper spray holstered at his belt.

-Portable six inch shaving mirror on his belt.

-Satchel holding four adhesive bombs, which can be remotely detonated via digital watch or set with a timer. Each bomb contains enough TNT to scrap a minivan.

Weaknesses: Donny is, in the end, only human. As dangerous as a human can get, surely, but still susceptible to the mortal fallacy. He has to sleep, he has to eat, and he can't survive anything that would kill a man. A bullet through the back of the head, a falling steel beam, even getting ganked in a corner by a dozen thugs. With patience and tact, any man may be brought down from his high horse. That, and the natural faults of preferring a revolver over a handgun. Donny can't quickfire if one of his hands is busy or incapacitated, and if he does use up his ammunition, his gun takes longer to reload than most automatics.

History: Donny had a typical psychopathic childhood. He was born in Bangor, Maine, his father a U.S Marine, his mother a sickly stay at home wife, and his uncle a bastard rapist. He was often unsupervised, and frequently engaged in less than moral activities. He bullied other children, killed animals, and stole from the local supermarket on a regular basis. As soon as he got his driver's license, he stole his parent's van hit the road, moving to Gotham and with nary a penny in his pockets after using up the rest for gas.
There he found quick work as a mafia hit man that dispatched anyone who filched on their gambling debts, his audacity and ruthlessness impressing his employers that ran the bookies. He began as an assassin and never switched professions. He was good at it. When people stopped trying to avoid paying their dues out of fear from a visit from the mafia's grim reaper, he took up with anybody willing to pay him for a kill. Any hit that was requested of him, he accepted and completed. By the time he was in his mid-twenties, he was locally known as "First-Degree" Donny, a universal killer and as far as the Las Vegas Police were concerned, a veritable one-man army.

There's another reason for his infamy, however. He has a hobby. In his spare time Donny wanders the streets after dark, a claw hammer hidden inside his overcoat. He kills lone women beneath city overpasses and in motel alleyways, in order to sate his hunger for violence. Being a part-time serial killer in addition to a bookie enforcer/hit man naturally solidified his reputation as a high profile criminal, and he is currently on the FBI's Most Wanted list with a reward of two-million dollars on his head.

Name: Derrick Coe

Age: 34

Alias: Black Spider.

Appearance:

Stands at 6'0 feet, weighs closely around 189 pounds and possess a fairly muscular build.

Skills/Abilities: He is proficient in close combat, deemed an expert in the art of Krav Maga and efficient in the use of light and heavy firearms. He has the flexibility and athleticism of an Olympic athlete, the durability of a grizzly bear and the intelligence quotient of 145. He's got ties to other criminal organizations, courtesy of his career as a professional hitman, and is able to easily secure eyes around the city. He is also very deceptive, able to construct fake personas and coerce people into doing jobs out of their comfort zone.
    -Equipment.
  • Dual FN Five-Seven pistols.
  • An Ontario SP1 combat knife, a keepsake from his time as a Marine.
  • A dark purple and grey exosuit, made to resist attacks from melee weapons and small firearms.
  • A small grappling hook strapped within the suit which can be launched through the suit's palm.

Weaknesses: While a very calculative person, his beef with The Bat often leads him into undertaking dangerous tasks that may or may not have a payoff in the end. 'Batman' has become his trigger word. Any word of mouth that speaks of his whereabouts, he's inclined to investigate it and that usually gets him a few sticky spots. His suit is durable against small firearms, but will fail if he gets hit by a bullet in close range or even worse, point blank.

History: Born in a very poor household situated in Bludhaven, Derrick was a known delinquent as a child. He would have his first run-in with the police at the tender age of eleven. But while his relationship with the police botched any chances of him getting the model citizen award in the up and coming future, it was his relationship with his own kin that drove him to become the man he is as of today. Derrick suffered from abuse. His father, an unemployed alcoholic, exerted violence on the family but primarily on his mother, which resulted in her getting frustrated and often unleashing said frustration on young D. It was a vicious cycle, until one day his father went too far. In a drunken attempt to suffocate his mother, he would accidentally knock his little sister down, resulting in her demise. His father, too caught up on his murderous act, wouldn't even notice his daughter's lifeless body in the floor, or Derrick reaching for a kitchen knife a few feet away. You can already imagine the rest. His father died in the hospital from the injuries, while his mother was sent to an asylum due to the trauma of seeing one of her kids die and another one of them kill her husband. Derrick got away slightly better, being sent to an orphanage after managing to convince the police it was self-defense.

Four years. That's how much they could hold Derrick in an orphanage, which considering his thuggish behavior, it's a lot. A week after his 16th birthday, he decided he was fed up with the rules and took it to the city. However, seeing as how the streets reminded him too much of his dark past, he managed to get his hands on falsified documents and make his way into the Marines, leading everyone to believe that he was of age. He served a couple of low-intensity tours in Falklands before being boarded to Iraq where he got to show his impressive skills as a combatant. He was eyed by Amanda Waller as a potential candidate for a blacker-than-black team of assassins, but managed to escape her sights after blowing up one of the facilities in his base and making her believe he was one of the casualties. Tired by the high risk, no reward job of serving the country, he got back to the states using his natural talent and knack for deception, and began working as a small-time hitman for local mobs. After making a small fortune doing odd jobs, he bailed Bludhaven and made his way to Gotham, the criminal paradise. It was at this time that he had a few run-ins with Batman, but bore no ill will against him. Once, after doing a job for Cobblepot, he was given an enhanced exosuit as payment instead of money, a suit which would become a permanent part of him. Inspired by the masked vigilantes, he gave himself an alias - Black Spider.

Things started going sour for Derrick after he accepted a contract to assassinate the renowned criminal, Scarecrow. He was caught and subjected to his fear gas as well as a brainwashing ritual, where one of Scarecrow's henchmen repeated the numbers "Eight-Four-Seven-Five-Four-Nine". He managed to break out and assassinate most of his captors, but it was too late. The damage was already done. While it was purely subconscious, he felt threatened everytime he would see the Bat-signal shine through the sky and eventually, after months of being a hermit, he decided to end his paranoia once and for all, and with it, Batman's reign. He made a couple of attempts on his life, with his last one sending him straight to Arkham. In an attempt to undo the brainwashing, the medical staff at Arkham accidentally drifted him in a catatonic state. It was only after news of The Bat's disappearance hit the streets that he snapped out of his condition and escaped Arkham, once again taking the mantle of Black Spider.

His brainwashing is still active, however now he knows it and actively searches for a cure for it. His motivation to kill Batman still stands. Only problem now is that he's got to find him first.
