Question: Does the "no player may double or triple up on a given world" include cases where a character's power source / transformation item is a character in their own right (such as these, for example)?
I'm not sure if you're still taking players but I'm interested as soon as I can come up with a character who fits the rules and around everyone else.
Name: Jenny
Age:25
Appearance: Splat
Personality: A little bit shy, hesitant to start conversations with people she doesn't know and generally socially awkward. May or may not have an overabundance of self-hatred.
Backstory: Not a whole lot to say here. Graduated university (three years late) and still looking for a job. Has a tendency to spend a bit too much time on the internet than is really healthy.
Powers/Equipment: Transformation Cellphone Mobirates with the following Ranger Keys:

  • GokaiPink
  • PteraRanger
  • PinkRacer
  • DekaPink
  • MagiPink
  • Shinken Pink
Given that it didn't survive the transition from Legends to Canon I think it's safe to say that it's not really a thing any more.

Also Lana is more of a "common enemy" thing than outright good.
Oh right, tagging for later.

Exact same issue @_@

Ditto.
I kind of agree with the sentiments against Madoka and Raising Project. They're alright shows, but I feel the concepts in them don't make for good RP premises- a lot of what makes those shows what they are is this slow but inevitable slide into the depths that drags the viewer down with the characters. Since RPing is typically about the players being faced with challenges and the chance they'll get put on that slide but with the means and opportunity to overcome it as part of the story, it's very difficult to properly introduce the inevitability and the creeping despair without making people upset.

Stuff like Precure, Nanoha, Symphogear, Vividred, etc make for better RPG premises in my opinion because they don't depend on the Despair Event Horizon like Madoka and Raising Project do. Not to mention, as has been said before, there's enough Dark Fantasy Magical Girl RPs right now, I'd rather see a lighter/more classic oriented one.

Also because the Nanoha series is one of my all-time favorites, so I'm more than a little biased...

Also Vividred has mayonnaise. Lots and lots of mayonnaise.
Plus Nanoha has the advantage of being a Seinen show rather than a Shoujo one.
Typically magical girl series have very high stakes towards the end, like any given Precure series, Nanoha, Symphogear, Sailor Moon... Quite a few others, really.

In fact vaguely from what I know(Magical Girl Raising Project seems like a waste of really great designs and ideas to me unfortunately), they're all higher stakes then that one.

Yeah, "Magical Girl Hunger Games" isn't that world-ending really.
I would do a magical girl RP, though I would prefer magical girl raising project or madoka magica style, doesn't have to be exact but I'd at least prefer something with higher stakes. But I seem to be the minority on that one.

..Hasn't the whole point of most of this discussion been that you can do a decent Mahou Shojou plot without taking tone cues from those two shows?
