Oh and I actually want Miles to grow tremendously in this time. He's 15 years old, so what's driving him a lot is his still slightly tinted view of the world. There's an innocence in him still and this innocence is what's glamorized the life of the vigilante and made it so appealing to the soul of a boy who just wants to be something. He'll hit his point where he sees the inherent risk with the vigilante life and have to make a choice on whether he really has it in him to proceed. If he says yes, he'll see this life not as something glamorous or glorious, but because at this point someone has to do it and he can already see that he's well-qualified. And there will still be that taste of a dreamer in him throughout his journey that keeps him so optimistic.

I like that. I also like seeing points where people have to make big decisions on long odds, like do I continue with vigilanteness or not. Fun times. I cannot wait.

@Lord Wraith How quickly are you expecting things to move from 'whoops, the lights went out' to 'hell no, you don't get to steal stuff' to 'want to run around stopping crime with me?' ??? Different speeds for different people?

@Dirge I don't know if you missed this or just don't like the idea, so I'm copy pasting a thought I had for how to get Eric connected at some point to the rest of the people from your IC post. Because I'm lazy. But Andrew's mum might've been working in the library when Eric just totally destroyed four theses.... *lehorror* Unless it's just the covers the roots are growing out of and not through the books, then he gets a free pass. :P And she might try to offer him some small words of encouragement, bits of advice sort of thing. Or even give him Andrew's phone number like a weird person since she's likely seen him around and knows he's not a bad guy. She can be as creepy, or sneaky, or overt about what she's doing as you want her to be if you like this idea. If not, *tosses it out a window*

@Stein He probably would eventually realize that it keeps him from getting close to anyone. For now he doesn't have any close relationships, but I think he'll eventually realize that he finds it really hard to connect with people who aren't as intelligent as him and there'll be a whole deal about that in his head.

Actually, using that big brain of his, he could probably put to rest Kalvin's ideas that he's Neo and this is all the Matrix. (Though, let him down gently. He'll get quite full of himself about it.)

Different speeds for different people would be best in order to allow for natural development in characterization. However that said, if the plot is dragging then sometimes sacrifices do need to be made. Stein in the past has played a character that was very reluctant to be dragged into the world of vigilantism but managed to stay involved in the plot by having that character initially in the wrong place, wrong time sort of scenarios before finally being won over to joining the Mavericks officially. Even then, it was quite a bit in until an alias developed.

I'm trying to get him into something fairly soon, so it won't be too long before he meets up with someone. Since Fastman is already being taken care of(?) I'll try to send him out to the next evildoer and hopefully someone else will be there.

@Hillan I think he'd be able to at least tell Kalvin exactly what he's doing and explain the physics of everything he's doing if he already doesn't know. Maybe that'll be enough to give him a bit of a wake up call.

@Stein in regards to personality, what exactly did you mean? Glimpses into behaviour through backstory? Tonal shifts in the bio? I haven't written a 'personality' section in a long time and I've come to rely on showing off my character IC as soon as I can. If it's just a simple touch-up of her history then that will be easy but if it's something more focused I may take a bit more time.

Otherwise, Applications are done and I've re-written the motivation to be more concise. I'll re-link the touched-up CS when the personality is cleared up.

If you don't mind the idea, you could stick in a short bit of Andrew's mum approaching Eric but don't have him follow through, because yeah, it would probably come across as awkward cuz that's not really a thing anyone ever gets practise with, heh... Then you don't have to use it, and can stick with meeting up through crime fighting at some point. And later on there can be an 'oh, that was your mum?' moment. Or, if the meeting up through fighting doesn't work out as well as you hope, then you've got a back up for how to get Eric in if ever you need it. :) Maybe?

Honestly, it was just one of those things that stood out to me. But you could do all of those, even just a sentence that shows her on a typical day of her life. It's a touch-up more than anything wrong in the foundation.

My laptop decided it needed a break and is unfortunately out of commission at the moment. Going to try my hand at fixing it, will keep everyone posted on my rate of success.

Hey all, I'm visiting family for the weekend. I meant to say something a couple days ago but I got knocked with a throat infection and the medicine wonked my entire schedule. Either way, I've been chipping away at a Miles post.

But, can we get a head-count of those still active?

Seems my hiatus lasted longer than expected and for that I'm sorry! Still here, although I have another RP I need to get a post up for first!

What should we be expecting by way of criminal activity as the story progresses? Are things going to build up in challenge levels? Or is there going to be a sort of present, huge challenge running beside the smaller ones that they might set their sights on eventually?

And how much are the Mavericks going to be featuring in the story? Mainly just history and imagination/inspiration stuff? Or we gonna get more cameos? :P
