From my pov I figured Shelly was previously recruited before the current members were. Its why she seems more relaxed about this situation since she's used to it and also passed the initial growing pains of this. Of course, we can also see that Shelly has some personal issues in how she sees herself, but does try to ignore in favor of a more upbeat attitude. Ignoring important issues behind a veneer of silliness isn't an unusual character trait especially these days.
I had made a query about a similar possibility for Heather from the GM. However it was not granted because we were all supposed to start in the same situation. Now there's no way anyone could have known such because I asked via PM. But basically everyone came from the prison and the whole thing is new for them. There isn't supposed to be contact with the outside because they're hated by the public and it's a secret government sanctioned project. And even they aren't really pleased about it.

Well I assumed the GM was pretty much okay with it since even the bio (I looked over it again and yeah its iffy) basically said she was a sort of Government contractor. Then again I suspect that the moment Shelly decides to not work with them they'll force her to. Still the GM should probably look over the character again and explain Shelly's role in this a bit more. I can sort of buy it if she's essentially unknowingly on a very tight leash and the realization of that will be very difficult to stomach.
From the CS I could probably see it as her making costumes for Gifted that were not using them for good. Or maybe she thought they would do good but didn't. Then being both a Gifted and being associated with crimes that took place would make sense for her being in prison.
But the GM could decide otherwise. Not my RP and I'm not really trying to make a huge deal, just trying to make sense of things.

Ah I see now. Maybe I should elaborate on my position instead of letting Hillbilly doing it for me. I didn't realise this was as much of an issue, rather genuine curiosity.
In my opinion, the fact I was there to post at the time meant it was better to not have my character there. The reason my character doesn't have anything about prison and training yet is because I was not posting in the roleplay when everyone else was, and I always think its weird and unnatural trying to retcon a character into a situation such that the chronology is unchanged and the character fits, nobody can react to your character so she needs extraordinary circumstances to explain that and doing that would mean ruining the vision I had for my character, ruining chronology of events or playing everyone else's characters myself. None are good options. Now I had decided that I wasn't going to be there at the same time, I had to choose, arrive at anytime in the last month or so beforehand or 1-2 in game days later. I thought, possibly wrongly, that there would be little objection to my character being there earlier, having been released earlier and put to use for the very reason she was caught.
I was going to save the rest of Shelly's backstory for when it was relevant, it was certainly nothing special and didn't need to be posted immediately, what I wanted to do was jump in and enjoy interacting with everyone else instead of writing pages of me talking to myself and I. For those agonising over it here it is in bullet points, I hope that it doesn't satisfy that way when I have to repeat all this you might have forgotten.
Shelly assists in making costumes for gifted indiscriminately
Caught and sentenced for aiding gifted and being gifted herself
Talents of use to Dr. Peterson and his Guardians project
Recruited to begin work on costumes (investment protection) and to get her in suitable shape for combat herself
An irrelevant quantity of time passes
Guardians: Next Wave team arrives and derusts, Shelly hard at work still
Shelly attempts integration with her new team
Paintball
If I may, I will now address other complaints. Most of this I consider dumb IC logic stuff I don't much care for.
She speaks and acts as though she just joined up and was never isolated from society. That is how she is.
This is all still mostly a secret so I doubt that emailing a request for a Gifted would be a wise choice. An existing technology already in use worldwide by corporations and governments to keep things secret, VPNs and other kinds of private networks. If the Guardian project doesn't have a secure private network to exchange information on electronically its doomed to fail. Being able to email co-workers confidentially is essential to being able to keep this whole thing a secret.
Basically everyone came from the prison and the whole thing is new for them She has come from prison and it is new.
There isn't supposed to be contact with the outside She doesn't have any contact with the outside, Shelly's engineers are our engineers on the inside, the ones we'd need to have to function. Maybe could have made this clear.
I can sort of buy it if she's essentially unknowingly on a very tight leash and the realization of that will be very difficult to stomach. She knows, but she's a brighter side of life person. She's still getting to do what she loves and she's not imprisoned in space jail any more. It gets to her at times but she's not going to let others know.
I hope this clears a lot up.
On the subject of GM objections, my first post was 5 days ago and the GM has posted multiple times in OOC and once in IC since then, if he had any objections it would have been nice to hear them before my second post I made yesterday, but I have not, not in OOC or by PM.
Honestly I'm not all that happy about being dragged into this.
@ColouredCyan Sorry. I didn't mean to create an issue. I probably should have just left well enough alone and just let things play out. I may not read the backstory just so I can get it IC.
Also sorry for not posting much lately. I got sick for a while and it stopped a lot of my posting. I'll try and get a post in today so we can actually interact.

No need to apologise, no harm, no foul. I just hope I've made my position clear for the GM. No more postulating over what it might be! :D

Its exactly what you'd expect it to be really, nothing special. You have been warned! :D
Honestly if I had to pick a time to be sick, this was a pretty good one. Not enough has happened that you've been left behind yet, which is good. I'm glad you're feeling better, assuming you are feeling better and if you aren't I hope you do soon.
I very much looking forward to reading more of your posts. I honestly think there could be some interesting chemistry between our characters, the way I see it you're practically immune to Shelly's gift, having an inorganic brain could prevent Shelly being able to exploit over and understimulation of neurons and that's only if Shelly's garbage sensory information survives digitisation and that's only if she can sense it at all!
I want to see how this plays out and a good start will be bonding over delivering pain and humiliation to that brat, the toy soldier and the disaster waiting to happen :D
It all seems okay. Some of it I suspected anyway and the GM might be ok with it to. I personally was just trying to figure out where Shelly was coming from by reading the posts anyway. The bio did make it appear as if she wasn't a prisoner, but I figured she was basically a prisoner with some veneer of freedom. Also like I said before Shelly can easily be one of those characters who can cover up what she truly feels. At least she isn't using Unlimited Snark Works that has invaded pop culture lol.
So, do you guys want to do paintball first? Because honestly, I'm thinking of making the villains attack before the paintball game. Then they move to a modern fancy house that's way bigger than the mansion and better security. It would basically be known as the safe haven for Gifted.
And that's where we'd get more people on the team. (NPCs or actual new chars you make.)
I don't want to put words in peoples mouths so here is, from my perspective is definitely in each team
Team Viv - Viv, Soldier X and Archer Team Light - Light, Garbage
Tanya, Heather, and Ajax have all responded to Garbage about paintball, but haven't made it entirely obvious their on either team.

I like Krot's suggestion. Play paintball for a bit, then villains. But ultimately its your RP, yew da booz, man.
Also, I don't see anyone particularly after making new characters already, do you want a new character?
The GM has spoken! We will shoot each other with the balls of paints.
Plus, Lmpkio isn't co Gm now, he told me a few days back, and I forgot to take him off the co-GM list. I'm now looking for some new co-Gm(s).
@Krot You think they should start, and play a little then the villains attack.
Or let them play the whole game?
Aye, Aye Captain!
My advice would be to play it by ear, as long as people seemed interested (still posting decent enough posts in IC fairly regularly) then it should continue and just as it begins to lose pace PLOT TWIST REAL COMBAT. You don't need to set rigid goals for when things should stop or start, just keep things moving enough that people have stuff to write about.
I could co-GM for a while, I have the time right now and some experience being GM.
