Brunhilde

The open diary page Emi had been looking at at first featured a number of descriptive words and a very detailed picture that matched Emi perfectly. That explained quite a bit, honestly, like why she was in possession of Brunhilde's book. The very last comment mentioned getting lunch together, and she noticed the second plate on the table. Emi was obviously very surprised to see Brunhilde sitting next to her suddenly - and very embarrassed, too.

"...and what do you think you're doing, hm?"

"I forgot to get you... I'm very sorry for doing so. Your food is still a little warm."

Brunhilde was smiling, of course. She didn't really care. Seeing as how her past self had obviously let this girl hold onto the diary in the first place, she obviously trusted the girl to not do anything catastrophic with it. She had watched Emi write down a mock journal entry in her own notebook. A little help from someone else's perspective would be nice, she thought, and she noticed one of the descriptive tags in her own journal mentioned that Emi apparently liked hugs. A lot. Brunhilde, trusting the words on the page, gave Emi a hug to reassure her that she had done nothing wrong.

"You're Emi, right? And did I seriously do something that stupid? I mean, that's waaaaay out of character for me. I think."

Brunhilde waved her hands in illustration of how big of a 'waaaaay' it was, and tilted her head in confused thought at the last bit. Without the book in her hand, she was far more animated - and she didn't seem to care a single bit about the honest remark Emi had written. She then took a few bites out of the food Emi had saved for her. It was pretty decent, despite not being something she was used to eating. Foreign food was funny.

"I suppose I should tell you what's going on, judging by the look on your face. Do you have any experience with memory loss?"

The food was gone before he could realize it, it did fill him up though although the food was pretty unhealthy. After gulping down the second glass Vlad his hit chest with the side of his fist a few times and took a serviette from his pocket and cleaned his mouth with it, although being a rude and crude person, he still came from a rich family where etiquette was everything, so he was perfectly able to be a gentleman if the need for it was up.

Vlad pushed his plate a bit forward and stood up, and glanced at the four eyes giving him the I'm out look. He would take care of him later, but for now he seemed nice enough and was smart to apologize and not create another drama, Vlad appreciated that. The cafeteria seemed busy as ever, the fat man and the little idiots were still at it, and two new figures were here as well, one was a muscled tall man with a weird horned haircut, he reminded Vlad vaguely of a certain superhero, and the other figure was a hooded much smaller person. They both seemed to give off a certain pressure, even more then the teachers.

But Vlad didn't care for now, his belly was full and this place was way too crowded. He needed a place where he could burn some energy and take a nap. Since pretty much everyone was still eating except for the fighting squad and the two pressure men, he could easily walk without having to push anyone out of the way. He walked through the tables with a slow pace, observing the students which most of them looked like bugs he could crush any moment. He saw a ugly red haired girl playing with a book and hugging another silver haired pipsqueak, which looked like her mind was somewhere else. And on another table he saw a green haired boy dressed up as a scarecrow talking to a girl. "Tsk... what's with the bunch of clowns all over the place?" he though slightly disappointed.

He finally arrived at the entrance, and while walking out the warm rays of the sun covered him. It was a bright sunny day, and the warmth of the sun made Vlad somehow more energetic which was probably because he was a fire elementalist. He stood in the middle of the road, looking where he should go. Behind him was the way back to the main school and in front of him was a way toward the village outside the school facility, which was going through a forest first. He looked at his messed up sleeve and decided he'd get himself some new clothes and just observe the village itself. And he could burst out some energy at the forest and probably take a nap there as well. With his hands in his pockets he took that way.

Emi

When Brunhilde saw that Emi wasn't feeling all to good she gave Brunhilde a warm hug. Emi smiled a little and enjoyed the hug for now. It was a little weird to hear the girl ask if she was called Emi. Emi knew for sure now that Brunhilde definitly had some sort of disease that let you forget things just like her grandfather. She looked away and bit her lip for a moment with her eyes being overshadowed by her forhead but did not let Brunhilde notice. She turned back towards the girl and gave a sweet smile while giving a short nod.

"Yea you got it right! hehe... You were to eager I suppose. You didn't want anyone to fight in the cantine since it would be a disrespect to the owners. It was very sweet though to do something like that but to be honest. You shouldn't get yourself involved or you might get hurt."

They both sat down now and started on their food. Emi had waited for Brunhilde to return knowing she wouldn't be gone for long. She took a few quick bites of her food and raised her hand to her cheek as she made a pleased sound with her chopsticks up in the air next to her face. She was definitly enjoying the food here. She knew she would be sitting here every day from now on. She listened closely to Brunhilde and looked a tad bit more serious then just now. She gave a small nod with still a bit of smile left on her lips.

"Yes, my grandfather is still in the hospital due to memory loss. I guess you have some sort of the same thing as my grandfather don't you? How much do you remember."

She picked the book up from the table and held it clutched to her chest pressing it tightly against her body. The smile was completly gone now as she really wanted to know. Despites knowing she was gonna be pretty damn mean to this girl. She didn't want it though but it just made her too curious to know.

Rinna was just getting her jacket back on when some old guy showed up and idly accused her of starting trouble before asking for her name. She eyed him cooly for a moment before gesturing towards the red headed idiot she had encountered a few moments before.

"Interesting place, this, where the adults are apparently okay with one lone asshole shoving kids around and nicking their lunch tickets. Not exactly something I'm willing to put up with, myself." She paused for a moment, running a hand through her long hair, before placing it idly on one of the tonfa at her hip.

"I'm Rinna. You the one who sent that letter? Cause a set of coordinates is a real shit way of giving directions."

"You don't have to apologize, I know you were only looking out for me, and I do appreciate that." Madison took a bite of her chicken and had a spoonful of the mashed potatoes. "Mm, I could get used to this," she added, trying to change the subject to lighten up the conversation between her and Kain. He was a tad more quiet than before, back when they first met, although the altercation that he'd just had with the others was very likely the reason for his lack of words. As much as she tried to focus on him and ignore everyone else around her though, and by everyone it was mostly Vlad, Madison couldn't help but keep her eyes trained on him as he got up to head outside. When she looked back towards his table, she happened to notice a guy sitting with her bag.

"Are you kidding me?!" Madison got up, telling Kain she'd be right back before making her way over to that table to confront the boy who had her belongings.

"Hey, what do you think you're doing with that?" She pointed to the bag before snatching it from his side. "Are you working with him now?"

Brunhilde

Emi seemed a bit distracted by something. Perhaps... Unhappy? It was hard to tell. Some soaked red-haired idiot walked by behind them once, but Brunhilde didn't care at all.

"Yea you got it right! hehe... You were to eager I suppose. You didn't want anyone to fight in the cantine since it would be a disrespect to the owners. It was very sweet though to do something like that but to be honest. You shouldn't get yourself involved or you might get hurt."

Brunhilde nodded. Man, her past self was an idiot. Though she doubted she'd be able to remember or care if she got injured in a fight, so it was more or less irrelevant. The journal was currently the closest thing she had to being able to easily learn from her experiences.

"Yes, my grandfather is still in the hospital due to memory loss. I guess you have some sort of the same thing as my grandfather don't you? How much do you remember."

Brunhilde nodded. He had Alzheimer's Disease or dementia, then. Pretty miserable to watch someone fade like that. She held up her left hand so that Emi would be able to read the reminder - 'I have Amnesia.', written in red on top of a white spiral. The spiral's root curled around her hand and disappeared under her sleeve.

"What is your name... Where are you... Who am I... What did we do today..."

Brunhilde paused. Emi wasn't reacting quite as well as she'd hoped, but about as well as she could have expected. Perhaps this sort of thing was triggering bad memories for her. The pink-haired girl was holding onto her diary tightly - like she wouldn't let go even if asked. A test of some sort? Brunhilde felt that she would have to take this calmly and slowly - like something was telling her to be reasonable. This sort of situation seemed familiar - like something she had read in a book about someone else a while ago, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"...Well, since you asked... I'll give you the long version."

Brunhilde took a deep breath. This is where the info dump started. She reached up to pat the slightly raised spot on the side of her head, demonstrating her first point, then started speaking very, very seriously.

"Blunt force trauma to the head - my hippocampus was damaged. I'm pretty happy that I'm not a vegetable, honestly. The result was serious short term memory loss. I'm still able to function (more or less), but I'm still healing from it. I don't know exactly how long it'll take to totally recover, but even when I do, I won't remember anything that happened specifically to me during the recovery years. I can't remember whether I've met people or not, I don't remember if I've been somewhere before. I can't remember places, but my feet take me where I need to go if I've been there for a while. I can remember faces, but I can't connect them with memories easily, so the best I can do is figure out whether I've met someone before or not and try to work out from there whether they're a friend, an enemy, or something more neutral. I don't know what's going on, where I am, what I've done, or what others' connections to me are. Basically, I can't connect myself to what I know. Usually."

She paused to let some of it sink in and collect her thoughts. She was rehearsing the entire scenario and the basic idea of what she'd said already over and over and over again in her head, but things were beginning to slip out. She'd have to finish her explanation quickly. She wrote some of the topics she had hit already on a napkin as she went, to try to stretch out her time limit.

"The reason why I can remember all of this stuff is that I've memorized it as a fact. I don't actually remember what's happened to me since I became this way. What I do remember is because of that book. It's like reading a story about someone else. A very boring story, usually, but a story nonetheless. I have to jog my memory by rereading things, though, otherwise the details don't stay in place."

Brunhilde looked at the napkin for a while. It was a bit tough to recollect what she'd said and what she hadn't, but she felt that she should finish up on a slightly more positive note. She swiveled in her seat to face away from the table and leaned back against it for a moment as she stared at the ceiling and counted on her fingers.

"There are... Four or so really good moments that I can remember in the past several years. Very short ones. I can tell you about those later, if you'd like. You'll have to remind me, though."

She turned around in her seat to face Emi properly, tilted her head a bit, and gave her friend a slight smile. This last bit would be for defusing any sort of crazy ideas Emi might be having at that moment.

"I trust you with that book. If you'd ever like to read it, just ask. If you'd like to try to modify my memories... Go for it. Just try to keep the damage to a minimum, and don't let anyone else touch it, alright?"

She was rather tired after her long description, and the initial reason for the conversation had already faded from her mind, save for the napkin notes, which she would transfer to the journal later. She turned to face the table and found some food sitting in front of her, which she correctly assumed was hers.

"...your food's getting cold."

In the midst of enjoying his not so warm food, he began thinking of how the headmaster would teach Water elementalist. He has a very peculiar way of doing so, even outlandish. It was crazy to think that this is how he trained, well atleast that's what Luke thinks. The redhead got up and shot him a glare that signified that he was about to leave. He nodded in return before looking downwards once more, he was just about done with his food.

He felt two, extreme pressures coming off from two figures though. He snapped his head and it as Headmaster Kano and another teacher who exerted the same aura as him.

There's another teacher like master Kano? Scary stuff. Luke shuddered the thought, he hadn't even met all the teachers yet. Only three, Master Kano, the one beside him and robo teacher. All three gave off this certain aura. The two teachers appeared to be talking to a girl, for unbeknownst reasons, she doesn't look like the friendly type.

Also Luke raised an eyebrow, almost everyone has strange clothing and hair. He counted the myriad of different hair colours and odd clothing since he entered. He looked down at his clothes, a simple polo with pulled up sleeves and light brown pants.

Maybe I'm the weird one. he thought, scratching the back of his head.

In the midst of his random, and useless thoughts, another intimidating girl seemed to call out,

"Hey, what do you think you're doing with that?"
"Are you working with him now?"

Luke looked at her (@Xandrya), then to his left, then to his right. Oh. She was talking to him. Well who else could she be talking to, its not like he was sitting for other people. He stopped and thought about it for a second, there'd be no point to say he was the one who picked it up or anything, so he'll go with the flow. The way she snapped the bag made Luke mentally note that she doesn't like the redhead apparently.

"Yes." Luke said simply, half his attention on her, and half on his sushi which were growing more and more colder, he made no attempts to take the bag back, "In actuality I shouldn't be revealing this but I'm his evil henchman, I think I'm number 124 or something in his crew. I wanna go up the ranks but the promotion process is a real pain. I can't even put in a complaint, I just get burnt."

Sarcasm was oozing off Luke, as he shot her a rather solemn smile, placing a piece of his sushi in his mouth, still keeping eye contact.

Emi

Brunhilde showed her hand. Emi stared at it for a second 'I have amnesia' she grit her teeth and bit them tightly together 'cruel' she could only think. This young, she shouldn't have to forget the best years of her life. Oh no Emi dropped her shine. Emi tried smiling again however it looked a little awkward. She did it again whivh came out right this time. She was back to normal.

As Emi clutched the book to her chest Brunhilde kept calm. She looked used to this kind of situation. Well what was to be expected eh. She pointed at a spot on her head that looked like it had had a hard hit. All the hair made it almost impossible to see but the amount of hair on the spot was a little less then everywhere else. If you looked closely you would only be able to see. Emi stood up for a moment to look at her head but sat down again. She looked quite reserved now to not disrespect the girl in any way after she had gone through the trouble of telling.

It was sad to hear about what she was going through and to how much she had told this already. She was so accustomed to telling this to Emi. If it wasn't for her diary she would be walking circles the whole day long. It was like some sort of survival game. Eat, sleep, relax, repeat. Like you were some kind of animal. But to be honest, is she ever gonna recover for something as critical as this. Her grandad wasn't gonna. Eventually his body would give up but Brunhilde was a little bit diffrent from that.

Would she ever act like an adult? What is she gonna do later when she doesn't even know what she had studdied for? No Emi shouldn't worry for the girl. She had been able to handle herself till here. She was a young girl too so she had to have the time of her life. Emi had to make the girl happy and help her to get better. Perhaps she was able to do something for the girl to make her recover.

What was she doing with the napkin? Wait, she didn't even remember what she said just now? She seemed to be having a hard time with it. Emi looked a little regretful for having the journal of Brunhild in her hands. She wasn't able to do anything at all. If she would be done talking she would likely be confused to where she is again all from the start.

She mentioned that she could remember 4 moment in her life. Well it was a start at least, it wasn't many but she felt happy she hadn't lost her personality. The girl said she could read her book any time she wanted which made Emi a little happy. Perhaps she got to know more about the girl her past or how it happened exactly if she read it. Brunhilde would have likely wrote down some stuff about herself too. Like what she liked or what was a bit off around her. It was good to know these things and a book would make it easy for her to understand. The girl also said she could edit the memmories. It would be a cruel thing to do such thing. She wouldn't want to erase this girl her existences. That would be crippingly sad to her and the girl. Emi gave a shake of the head with a small smile on her face.

"No need Hildy. This is your memory right now. Editing it would be like making you into a puppet. No one would want to see such a thing as that. You shouldn't be to easy on others when they are nice to you hehe."

Emi handed the book back to Emi and rubbed the back of her head while averting her eyes away to the corner of the top of a pillar. She closed her eyes for a moment and placed her hands onto the table. She opened them again and grabbed a permanent marker. Luckily these letters were easy to write. She wrote Emi onto her forehead and made a prompted smile as she put the lid on the pencil again.

"Easy to remember right? Hehe."

She shot the kid a dirty look after his smart-ass remark.

"Yeah well, be sure to use some aloe after your circle jerk." Without saying another word, Madison proceeded to walk away from the table, but not before intentionally bumping the kid on his shoulder so that hopefully he would drop his current bite of sushi. Wow, she thought to herself as she walked away, I don't think I've ever said that to anybody before... Part of her was ashamed of her words, but the other half of her liked it. Maybe this school was already making her grow up, although it was happening much quicker than anticipated.

"I'm back", she said to Kain as she sat down across from him, her bag now sitting next to its rightful owner, "just had to get my stuff, that's all." Madison started to eat again, glad that after being interrupted twice, she could finally get some food in her system. She still had the rest of the afternoon in class with Vlad, and she was going to need all the energy she could get.

"No need Hildy. This is your memory right now. Editing it would be like making you into a puppet. No one would want to see such a thing as that. You shouldn't be to easy on others when they are nice to you hehe."

Brunhilde was writing the napkin-note in the journal as Emi spoke, detailing in some limited detail what had happened. It wasn't exactly up to par with her usual notetaking, but it got the general idea across. She started to take another bite of her food while she processed Emi's words.

"Easy to remember right? Hehe."

Brunhilde put down the fork mid-bite and clapped her free hand to her face as she started giggling madly. A tiny bit of a delayed reaction, but the information was a little slow to process when it had to be recorded, reread, then comprehended. And the nametag Emi had written on her forehead looked utterly ridiculous, what with the dot from the 'i' being in the middle of the E and all. Brunhilde's finger wagged back and forth in the air a bit, illustrating every word.

"I knew it! You had the look, but I didn't expect you to play the role so perfectly. This is great. Okay."

She managed to get a grip on herself a couple seconds later and flipped open the book to Emi's page. With near blinding speed, a series of stars were slung around the border of Emi's portrait in yellow marker, with the note 'Vitally Important - Do Not Misplace' underneath it. She then quickly finished transcribing the napkin-notes to the diary's current date and time before she forgot, and continued, a bit more seriously.

"That's exactly why I gave you permission. I'm not an idiot - I know when someone's the sort of person to stab me in the back, and you have a certain feel about you. The offer still stands, though, since exploiting my poor memory can be useful sometimes. If we were to get into some sort of horrible fight, for instance, I might conveniently 'forget' to write it down and make something up that sounds likely to fill in the gaps."

Brunhilde wasn't entirely certain what that 'feel' was, exactly, but she knew she'd seen it before. Somewhere... Who was that, and when was that, anyway? That line of thought felt a little strange, though, so she opted to ignore it. It'd be gone in another 40 seconds anyway if she didn't dwell on it. She continued eating her food, which was nearly finished at this point. The note on Emi's page gave her thoughts a swift kick, though. Do Not Misplace.

"Hey, I've got a favor to ask of you. Could you drag me out to the library later so I can run your page through a scanner and make some backups? We're on a bit of a tight schedule here, otherwise I'd do it right now."

She'd back up the entire thing, but... That was over 2,500 pages filled out so far. Nobody had time for that - not even someone who had almost no concept of time management in the first place.

A further note on the diary made mention of it being a boarding school. She wondered who her roommate would be. Hopefully it wasn't one of those bizarre co-ed places. Waking up in the same home as a guy she couldn't remember would probably give her a panic attack every single morning. Not exactly healthy to live like that. Further up in the diary, there was a note regarding getting keycards and roommate assignments, and she wondered when exactly they'd finally get around to announcing that. It was the first day's lunch break, after all, and a schedule on the wall of the cafeteria near the front counter made it look an awful lot like dinner opened up well after classes would be finished in any normal place, so if there were any time to getting students where they needed to go, it would be very soon.

The fresh air did Vlad good, and the warm rays of the sun as well. But then he shook his head, "Stop being a softy damn it". This wasn't the time to enjoy weathers and have a carefree life, he had a task to fulfill, If he didn't become stronger she won't survive it, his mother, she... Lost in thought Vlad bumped into a woman which looked intimidated by him, she took a few steps back. She was wearing villager clothes and seemed to carry some heavy bags, which were probably the provisions for the academy. She quickly scurried past Vlad without giving him a chance to say anything. Vlad could understand her reaction, with his destroyed sleeve, wounded arm, height and crude wild-ish features, he did look like some villain. With a shrug he continued walking and arrived at the gate, which was huge and wide open. There weren't any guards or control of any kind.

"Well I guess nobody is dumb enough to attack this place"

Past the gate was a stone path, which looked pretty darn old, it must have been thousands of years old. The path went shortly before disappearing behind gigantic trees, which was the forest Vlad saw before. There was also barely people here, only one or two villagers bringing provisions. With his hands in his pockets he walked on the path, which was hardly reached by the sun between all the trees. He could hear birds chirping and the wind making the leaves rattle.

Eventually, he took a sharp turn to the left, walking between the trees and bushes, and fallen branches. He was looking for an open place where he could exercise and eventually take a nap. After some walking he could hear a faint sound, a sound he was familiar with, back when he was a child there used to be a river flowing next to their castle. He finally entered a open place, with some boulders here and there and yes, a river flowing. He stood there with his hands on his hips admiring the sight. "This place is perfect" he thought and with a deep sigh he inhaled the fresh air of the forest. For some reason the forest was giving off a pressure, almost as if it was alive.

Vlad turned to the biggest boulder, which was a few meters away from him. It was about as big as a small car, Vlad approached it and touched the boulder to feel it. It felt warm due to being under the sun all day. Then he took a few steps back, in battle position with his right side put forward and feet and legs wide open. He closed his eyes and concentrated, concentrating his energy into his left fist. Fire started to engulf his left arm, slowly dancing around it. He then punched as hard as he could and the moment his fist came in contact with the boulder, the explosive mix of the clash and his fire resulted into a explosion, blasting a huge chunk off the boulder. But Vlad was unhappy with the result, it was supposed to destroy the whole boulder, not just a part of it! He walked to the other side of the boulder and did the same thing again, this time with even more fire. Eventually the stone was gone.

"I'll need more boulders but if I continue like this my punches will eventually get stronger"

Some time later, he was shooting fireballs at the river, so that he wouldn't burn off the whole forest. Steam was appearing all over the place. Vlad then spread both his hands and pointed them at the water, concentrating himself, fire started to erupt out of his shoulders which then spiraled around his arms, forming into balls of fire in his open hand palms which then shoot off into a continuous fire stream, hitting the river and making the water boil. after he was done and the steam cleared up, he noticed several fishes drifting on the water. "Oops" he thought while admiring his work.

Chen was somewhat surprised by her shock, it wasn't that big of a deal that Mr. Hargor had raised him. He was probably more surprised by the sudden eruption of Ice on the table. One of the spikes skewered his plate of food and the other one landed a few inches from his right hand. "Woah, you can use Ice too. It's not very often that I find anyone else with that level of elemental manipulation."

Chen then took a moment to think of a response to Eria's question. "Eh, it was pretty okay. Mr. Hargor took a pretty hands off approach to raising me, he would leave really subtle hints about stuff I should do. Like one time I woke up and the tv was gone, instead there was just a broom where it used to be. He would also leave homework and stuff for me. It was kinda like raising myself, but with a safety net."

???

The strike was fast. A soft hit, but seemingly out of thin air. A solid hit to the jaw would put the boy in a stumble. Another hit, a kick most likely, to the back of his feet, had him tripping. A third hit square to the shoulder had the boy in a spin that pushed him well across the short steam. None of the attacks hurt, more of a numbing feel, but the attacker was not visible. The only feeling in the air was a buzzing noise. It filled the mind as it crept closer until it simply stopped. As quickly as it had come it was gone.
On the broken scorched stones of Vlads rage sat a lone figure. Gaunt and hollow, skin stretched thin over his bones, he sat slouched over the stone with his hands crossed in front of him solemnly. He was frail in appearance. Weak. His clothing hung off him and caught what little wind flowed in the dense forest.

"So senseless."

His tone was raspy. As if unused for years. But it felt as if those few words weighed a ton. In less time than it took to blink the figure was gone. Not a trace. No footprint, no sign he had existed at all, except for those words. A hand grabbed Vlad and hauled him to his feet and spinning him to stare into the weak mans eyes. All in a fraction of a second, it seemed. The eyes held Vlads in a grip of iron while it seemingly tore into his soul. The rhythm of this mans soul invaded the boys. Sweeping everything but its silence aside. No words were exchanged. No scolding, no harsh comments, not a breathe escaped them. Nothing but the sternness of his eyes and his disgust at the violation of this place of tranquility. Vlad had killed without hunger, nor pity, and destroyed what need not have been disturbed. The birds did not sing and the smaller creatures had fled, unused to the sound of cracking stone.

All that in the blink of the strangers eyes.

In one more blink he was gone. The burned stone and fish with him.

His final words filled Vlads ears and shut out everything else as they passed into his mind.

"Strength comes from a challenge."

A challenge Vlad could hear approaching with every heavy footfall.

Gus had never gotten a chance to say what was on his mind. Instead, he dropped the other boy and shrugged away his pain. The bleeding from his nose had stopped and the group had dispersed, thanks to the robotic teacher. Everyone filtered back to their seats and left him alone once more. Silently he wondered why nobody ever bothered to talk to him. Fear of his size? Perhaps. Thoughts for another time and place was the only explanation he came up to. The red haired boy had left the building entirely after eating. His attitude alone had the large boy wondering if that fellow was alright in the head to outright abandon any chance at social redemption. But at the same time Gus wondered if that was because the lad feared hurting others with his volatile nature.
Either way it was still up to Gus to apologize for hitting him earlier. With that in mind, he went after him into the forest. But not before grabbing some extra food on the way! It helped that he had meal vouchers from his parents if he ever felt like having a little extra.

Shoveling down the sandwich he had gotten before following Vlad, Gus stomped his way up the path and into the forest. Not a quite man it was obvious to hear him coming as he brushed away low (to him) hanging branches and the occasional insect. It was only thanks to the smoke and noise that he had managed to track down the boy at all. But when he finally caught up, the area was serene. No scorch marks but plenty of smoke. Calm waters. Nothing had caught fire, that much he could see, but all he saw was Vlad standing across the river.

"Hey! You alright? Saw you bail on the lunch room crowd and figured I'd.. I dunno.. Maybe help you blow off some steam?"

-----------------------------------

Kano Hargor

Kanos initial reaction to the girls insolent tone was to smack her then and there, establish some ground rules, and sentence her to detention for the disrespect. The letter she mentioned caught his attention. The academy rarely sent out notices, as most new students were found out personally by the masters, or referred to the school by associates or family. But who could have written it. Not himself, nor the other master. If he had then this wouldn't be surprising.
Again her disrespect caught him and could be silent no longer.

"Rinna Kasai, no doubt. You make the staff out to be incompetent. Mark my words, girl, I will see you removed before I sit idly by and hear one of my students besmirch these grounds."

The water snaked out of his sleeve like angry vipers as Kano remembered the early days with young Urufu and Hisui. The only thing that had stopped them from getting properly disciplined was that neither of them had been under Kanos tutelage. But the call was here, now. Drawn to the same element as Rinna. The element of water.
The water coiling about him caught her weapons belt and yanked free one of the Tonfas into Kanos waiting hand.

"Mmm." Kano passed the aged weapon over to the headmaster. "It's one of hers, alright. It still has the damage from when she and I fought." The water teacher subconsciously rubbed the side of his head, recollecting the beating he had received.

[color=0054a6]"We don't always make sense, Rinna. But we are neither negligent nor blind. Headmaster, she's your problem till class starts."

Ashamed just a tiny bit of his hatred, memories of his torture at the hands of the headmasters 'blessed little angels' always stirred up those feelings in him. Feelings he had always assumed were gone with his ascension, but the Kasai family had a knack for bringing out his more human side when he did not wish it.

-------------------------------------------

The lunch bell rang overhead, signalling the end of the break. Students had been advised that classes were short on the first few days to give first years a chance to explore the grounds and their new homes. At the main building in the lobby of dormitory one the students were given a brass key and instructions on how to find their rooms. They were also warned that it was gender neutral so the odds of getting a female roommate was 50/50 same as everyone else.

First years were given a sheet explaining the rules and expectations of the dormitory.

No fighting in the halls.
Damage to the room was your responsibility to fix.
Excessive or consistent damage could end in expulsion.
Loud music was prohibited after 8pm. Complaints were taken seriously.
Excessive Use of elemental powers in the halls and lounge area were prohibited.
The common area and lounge were treated as neutral zones.
Curfew was 9pm. Failure to be in the building would result in disciplinary action.
Forms would be handed out every sunday for a grocery list.
Just because there was a cafeteria did not mean students were not encouraged to cook their own meals if they chose.

The attending staff was smiling as she handed out keys and rules to every student, happily sending them on their way.

During Maddison's short absence Kain's mood had totally flipped. He was now shovelling food into his mouth like it was a race against time. He paused for a brief moment to give her a wide welcoming smile.
As he cleaned up his tray ensuring he got every last scrap of food, he spoke between eating, mouth mostly empty.

"Hey, I overheard some of the other kids say the dorms are ready! Lists are around the place."
-Kain scrapes together some food and shovels it into his mouth-
"I wanna go check it out before class resumes, need a shower n' stuff. " he sniffs himself and scrunches up his nose to make a point.

Kain's eyes light up at the idea of a hopeful prospect.
"Never know, we could be roomies!" He says excitedly.
"Any way find me after last class. Also let me know if that fuck stain gives you a hard time again!" Kain stares at her with a stern look of seriousness and compassionate concern. Then as he gathers his things and puts his rubbish on the tray he rustles Maddison's hair, playfully teasing her as he walks on by, leaving the cafeteria.

"Keep out of trouble Madd's!" he calls back, giving her a short wave over his shoulder as he hurries off.

Emi

Brunhilde seemed to like Emi her action of writing her own name on her head. Emi gave an awkward laugh definitely looking a bit flustered as the smaller girl giggled at her. She was said that she fitted the image Brunhilde had described in her journal. I guess that can't be changed right? Well atleast she liked that about her. She was still a child in some form. Emi was surprised that she wasn't that playfull like most childs were. Well at least she thought so, maybe it only happened recently.

Emi quietly waited as Brunhilde filled in the missing gaps in her book. Emi in the meanwhile grabbed her marker once more and waited for Brunhilde to finish whats he was doing and got her attention. Before she could do what she wanted to do Brunhilde wanted to share some words with her. It was about how she trusted Emi and knew Emi wasn't gonna do anything bad to her. She was pretty chill on just trusting someone that they had only met a day. It was a bit worrisome that she was like that. It made Emi wonder a little if the girl her memories had been altered already.

She decided not to worry about it all too much and continued eating. Brunhilde requested on taking her to the library later on. Emi wasn't gonna decline anyway and gave the girl a bright nod. She stood up and shoved her chair closer to Brunhilde. She held her arm tightly and made sure she couldn't move. With the permanent marker she crossed her left hand first but it was still readable and wrote underneath. She did the same with the other hand once she sat down on the other side.

'Enjoy today. Blondy/pinky haired girl (Emi) takes care of you. Ask questions to her.'

She gave a sweet smile towards the girl and let go off both her arms. It was easy readable just like her tattoos so that wasn't a problem. Emi janked the journal from Brunhilde again and wrote down in it.

'Heading towards the library after some food. Emi is taking care of me so I don't have to work so hard.'

Emi stood up having the journal beneath one arm and a small girl in the other as they were leaving the cantine.

Brunhilde

Brunhilde watched as Emi wrote an entry in the book. She glared at the taller girl indignantly. It's not like she was useless or anything - she'd made it this far mostly on her own, after all. A few rehabilitation appointments aside, she'd done everything herself, 'by the book', so to speak. She wouldn't stand for that sort of attitude, so she stepped in front of Emi to block her path for a moment.

"Wo-wo-wo-woah. Woah. That's not how it works. Just for that note, I'm going to work my ass off, and there's nothing you can do about it."

Emi was holding onto her, but she popped into the air regardless, getting on eye level with Emi to make her next point.

"I'm not a charity case. I'm not going to accept your help because I need it - I don't. I'll let you do this because you want to - and I'm going to find a way to help you out in return. Because I think of you as a friend. Got it?"

Seeing that note in the journal would do nothing but piss her off again later on, so she quickly scribbled a note on her arm in pen, under Emi's note - 'Return the favor.'. With that done, she returned to the ground and followed Emi as originally intended.

The 38 minutes Avarius had given them were up, but she couldn't remember that at all, and the note regarding it was several lines up in the diary, buried under other information. Even though classes were shorter that day, he would probably have wanted to test their discipline by having them stop back by the lesson area for a quick chat, followed by rapid dismissal. Were Brunhilde aware of this, she would probably have been worried about getting her ass kicked by her teacher the next time they ran into eachother.

Emi

Brunhilde had planned elsewise. She didn't take Emi's kindness as kind at all. Seemed like Brunhilde had a selfish side on herself too. It wasn't in a bad way but it made Emi a little upset she wouldn't be able to let the girl relax. Her head nodded letting the girl know she understood what she said. She didn't know Hildy could be this strict though. Emi gave a tiring sigh and let her shoulders drop for a moment.

She was happy though Brunhilde meant it well. She would be giving Emi something in return if she ever needed it, that could work though. It would be good on both ends of the deal. Emi gave another short nod at Brunhilde and gave her an hug while she was still in mid air. She let go of the girl and gave a prompted smile before turning around once more to lead the way.

They quickly arrived at the library. It was a big towering building with all kind of weird quirks on it like hanging plants coming from all the way of the top. It looked like it had been standing there for over a few dozen decades. Emi looked quite bazzled by the thing and ran in as soon as possible. From the inside you couldn't even seen the ceiling. Every wall was covered with books and there were platforms in the middle also with more books. Emi dragged Brunhilde further in and turned around to ask her what she actually wanted to do in the library.

"Why did you want to go into the library out of curiosity?"

Madison

"Alright, see you later!" she waved at Kain who was already rushing out towards one of the exits in the dining hall. At least Madison could count on him to be on her side, that much she knew. Since the bell had already rung, Madison hurried to get the last bite of food before gathering her belongings to follow the crowd outside. She threw out what little bit was left on her plate and then walked towards the dormitories. Madison didn't know how to feel about being paired up with a roommate given the fact that she's never had one before. As she walked, she hoped that it would be anyone but Vlad. Him, or the other kid who for some reason had her bag back in the dining hall.

Once Madison got to the lobby, she picked up her key and made her way to the room. She unlocked the door and was relieved to find she was the first one there. She headed to the room on the left, putting her bag down in order to mark her territory. Her father had advised before she left that he'd stop by with her luggage later in the evening, so Madison took a few minutes to lie back in bed and close her eyes.

"Oh.... umm actually I don't control Ice" Eria said and collected the ice shards which immedietly broke back down into the Aetheric particles which she kept a tight hold on this time. "...It's Aether actually" She said but didn't go any deeper than that but did give another quick "sorry" for what had happened.

"Anyways, That sounds like he was more of a teacher when he was raising you" she said as she caused the cloud of Aether particles dissipate from her hand, slightly surprised that it was so easy to do that now. When she heard the bell ring and saw a lot of the students getting up and milling about, "Well... it was nice meeting you Chen, maybe we can work together to make this year much better for the two of us, yes?" she asked before collecting her stuff but stopped wondering where to go "Umm by the way, do you know where to go right now?"

Room 105

Kain appeared to have been the first to arrive at his shared dorm, his roommate no where in site. While it did mean the anxiety remained for a little longer it did allow him to choose his own bed! Kain thoroughly explored and compared both rooms while pondering and fantasising about who he would be sharing living space with for the next year.
It was both nerve wracking and exciting.

'Perhaps a voluptuous young woman with many pretty friends, a lightning user like himself or maybe an exotic mystical ether user.'

Kain wondered around curiously inspecting the luscious apartment with a wide grin as he imagined the girly slumber parties and pillow fights.
He was pleasantly surprised by the quality and standard of the rooms. It was far fancier than what he had expected despite all the tales. Although being on the small side, the space was expertly used.

After testing both beds, Kain decided to take the room on the left, he threw down his few belongings, flicked on the TV and went straight for the shower.
The high pressure warm water was heavenly against his tired skin and aching muscles. It stung slightly as it run down into his small cuts and scratches from when he fell over, but that soon passed as it cleansed and soothed.
Kain lost himself in that shower and all track of time...
