I'm new and basically enjoy creating things and worlds. As my name and my introduction shows, I love D&D and all that it encourages, so of course LOTR and Warhammer are also passions of mine :)

Anyway, just wondering if anyone is up for a fantasy world build and discussion with a roleplay afterwards maybe or, yeah..still not sure how things work.

Worldbuilding is fine, although the past few times I've been in a worldbuilding thread they've sadly died. :( But eh, I'm up for trying again I guess.

...Warhammer was the first fantasy setting that I got into waaay back in the early 90's, so there's that too I guess. XD Still a little salty about the End Times and... Sigh... Age of Sigmar, but hey.

Don't worry, you have every right to be salty. Age of Shitmar is literally charades mixed with water downed table top mechanics and fails at both of those things.

Let's hope that 40k doesn't get its ass punted to the Eye of Endtimes and if it does, at least follow the fanmade 50k timeline.

@MimicWorld building is a thing, although on here the best worldbuilding RPs/threads are the ones that didn't set out to be worldbuilding. Generally its an RP base that the GM made and then someone goes "hey, it'd be cool if..." or "maybe this happened in the past". I know for a fact that NRPs have a higher percentage of worldbuilding success but then again, most of my time is only on NRPs so take that wit ha grain of salt

I would like to engage in it but my hopes are not high, however.

Nation Role Play. Basically instead of playing a single character, you play an entire "nation" (whether it be as small as a town or as large as a chunk of a galaxy). Think of it as more like Civilization than Final Fantasy I guess. XD

@MimicI love Forgotten Realms, Warhammer, and LOTR, so I am up to help out. I'm also a fan of Dragon Age, Shannara, Witcher, Warcraft...wow, they add up over the years.

Still a little salty about the End Times and... Sigh... Age of Sigmar, but hey.

Same. End Times was cool, but the principal I still dislike, and Age of Sigmar...not a fan.

@Rin explained it pretty well lol, tends to be a niche thing in comparison to just about everything else on the site, minus tabletop RPs

Okay, I am learning. So I suppose we kind of think up some ideas here, or maybe in another thread thing. Maybe start here until we have very basics then push it into somewhere else?

You definitely want the Nation Roleplay section.

Really? I don't want to role play a group of any kind though, just want to kind of experiment?

This is known as "GMing".

@MimicI think if you just want to worldbuild then it'd be fine sticking it in the forum for whatever level of work you intend to be put into it, I guess. So probably either casual or advanced would work.

I mean if everything works out we could always do an RP set in the world we make, but that's getting a bit ahead of ourselves if we're just going to be planning out a world for the time being. XD

@MimicIn my personal opinion, its best to first get some RPing done with others, spread your name around and get some notoriety and learn what the site's culture is like before trying to GM.

In the past I've found that people who try to GM first thing off the bat tend not to get much attention or much respect (I can speak from experience here). But hey, that's just my cynicism coming out.

In retrospect, most my major RP's were built on new accounts and most of those involved to some degree people that I already knew (i.e. on skype I would invite them).

Comparatively if you want to just world-build it might be an idea to just.. idk, do it in PM's? Considering you're not actually RPing but rather just building a world. Just gather some people and start a group PM?
