Beneath a wild mane of dark, sun-kissed curls is Gitanjani Mariposa, a tiny Horus spitfire who stands as tall as an officer of Ra. Though she be small, she is fierce. Her huge almond eyes shine with an unquenchable inner fire and intelligence, and squint happily at the glint of the sun or a smile. Smiling -- that is something she often does, with those full, pouty lips and laughing, fiery eyes. Despite her small stature and light-hearted demeanor, she carries herself with dignity and determination. Her dainty and nimble hands, not too long ago, were soft and uncalloused.

She dresses simply, opting for efficiency, practicality and freedom of movement than elegance. Usually, she can be found in a peasant blouse with a simple corset and leather pauldron with practical pants beneath a bundle of knee-length skirts and leather boots.

++ Personality: ++

Light-Hearted: As long as the sun is shining, she’s smiling and laughing at something. Life is good, and she has a heart of gold. Life is an adventure, she might as well enjoy the ride!

Stubborn: If she has her mind on something, she’ll bash her way to her goal come hell or high water. Convincing and persuading her to do something she doesn’t want to is far from easy --- unless you know how to push her buttons.

Meticulous: Bordering on the obsessive-compulsive, she has an eye for detail and numbers like no other. She feels a need to keep tabs on everything and everyone at least to some degree. Rumor has it, she keeps a ridiculously detailed lexicon journal of her work and daily life hidden somewhere...

Talkative: For one reason or another, she is prone to ramble on and on... and on. She often goes out of her way to talk to people and make conversation about literally anything. If she can’t find anyone to talk to, she may just end up talking to herself. She doesn’t seem to like silence much.

Logical Mind: Despite her near constant state of delirious happiness and friendliness, her mind is wholly set in a logical, ordered and almost computational manner. She only seems to quiet down and focus when given a mathematical or logistical puzzle to solve, and then she will not leave it until it is done.

++ Weapons & Equipment: ++

Horus Handcannon - Stolen from the markets of Horus, this little baby packs a punch. She is currently untrained and unable to shoot a target ten feet in front of her, so this weapon allows her to obliterate everything in front of her. This weapon, though powerful, has a very short range of effectiveness and is slow and difficult to reload. It is the type of weapon only to use as a last resort.

Whalebone Dagger - Since the beginning of time, whales have been a symbol of strength and perseverance. If even in the smallest degree, she seems to believe in this. She always keeps this small but sturdy weapon close to her, hidden away in her bundle of skirts and belts. Should the handcannon fail, this little used but well loved weapon is an effective back-up. There seems to be a story behind this weapon, but she doesn't seem too keen on telling it.

++ Shard Ability: ++

Numerical Precision (Theomancy) - She sees the world around her as a numerical system and is able to have some intuitive insight into the world around her. This ability can be activated to intuitively determine, for example, the number of bullets in a nearby firearm, the number of coins in a closed box without weighing or measuring it, or even the heart rate of someone nearby. However, the amount of information upon activation is oftentimes overwhelming, and must be kept at bay through constant distraction. As such, she is constantly attempting to stay distracted and busy to avoid a mentally exhausting “overload” of information. She is currently working on attempting to filter bits of information from the initial tidal wave, but has been thus far unsuccessful. Her ability at present is little more than a hindrance, though she still has a naturally unnatural knack for numbers.

++ Brief History: ++

Born by someone and raised by no one in particular in the heart of Horus, it wasn't long before young Gitanjani found spirited away and sold into concubinage to an enormously wealthy merchant. One of many exotic young beauties in his secret harem, Jani was regularly clothed in the finest silks and jewels, fed only the most delicious meats and rare fruits, and overall lived a life of unimaginable luxury. Presumably, she met many friends within the merchant's other concubines, and by them was educated in many fields, among them everything from embroidery and cooking to mathematics and horticulture. Many might consider it a blessing, having been snatched from the streets and given such a golden opportunity.

For one reason or another, she fled the harem and stowed away in the cargo hold on the Horizon. It was there she hid for nearly two months, squirreling away rations and discarded clothing for herself to survive.

The crew of the Horizon soon discovered odds and ends missing, other carefully arranged to create more efficient methods of operation and movement. This odd pattern continued, with the cargo hold and other forgotten corners of the ship becoming cleaned up and optimized by forces unknown. It was after two months of maddening confusion that tiny Jani was finally found, scribbling away in a ledger that accounted for each and every item and person on the ship. Upon discovery, instead of begging for mercy or even explaining herself, she immediately lectured those who found her on the logistical errors she had found during her stay.

Much to her surprise, rather than being thrown overboard, she was given safe haven and leeway to organize and optimize on the Horizon. Though responsible for nothing and no one, her passionate enthusiasm and determination for efficiency soon earned her her place aboard the ship and among the ship's crew. After several months of free reign aboard the ship, she found herself as the one to go to for anything regarding supply. She now happily serves as the (somewhat) self-proclaimed quartermaster under Captain Fletcher.
