Scully "Babyface" Vagabond

While Babyface had admittedly been excited about the idea of the leaf pile- he could've just jumped into it on his way down- he felt slightly guilty at the realization that he may've bruised Scully's pride. It was understandable, there were a lot of kids he knew that bruised their ego easily, but Babyface couldn't help but adore the wild child even more when he didn't... get angry or burst. Then again, maybe he didn't bruise Scully's pride and he was just overthinking. Shaking himself out of his thoughts, the light haired adolescent looked over as the other child started his clamber up- if anything, his face screamed determination. It was captivating, almost, the focus in other Scully's face- the thought that he may not have looked as cool and probably looked really dumb while climbing made Babyface's baby face burn.

The wild child eventually made his way near, and Babyface reached out, the two boys' arms connecting. He wasn't very strong- but the dark haired boy must have pushed himself off the small branch or something because Babyface easily swung him over to share the branch and the small branch snapped under Scully.

Snapping branches weren't exactly rare, but they were few and in between, and having them happen always sent Babyface's heart racing- he didn't even do much and he was already sweating. He tried to calm down with a deep breath, his one hand still holding onto Scully's, the other on his shirt, and after a few steady breaths, he found his heart finally slowing down. Licking his dry lips, Babyface managed a wide smile that made his bruise ache painfully- not that it mattered. That was really cool!

"That was really cool!" he repeated, nodding his head towards Scully. Finally letting go of the boy, Babyface pointed to a tree beside them, slightly above their eye level. His voice dropping slightly, he whispered, "Look. There's the nest. Probably no more eggs. Its fall and all."

Scully "Wildchild" Vagabond

---------

The snapping branch had frightened him, almost made him shout out loud, but Wildchild felt reassured by the other Scully's hand in his. Dry lips pursed as the two managed to settle on a sturdy branch together, and then with only a slight shiver he stared about the forest below. It was lovely to say the least; red and gold and orange leaves gathered below their tree, gleaming in the mid-day sunlight. The air was less dense up in the air, it rather felt good against his warm face and smelled of distant rain storms and sunlight. It made Scully feel... Serene. Calm.

That's new.

He glanced towards the nest when the other boy pointed it out, heading cocking to the side curiously. It was a sturdy little thing, woven tightly together with string and small branches and hay. As it was just above their eye level seeing inside would be near impossible, unless one of them stood, and Wildchild wasn't that wild. He shrugged in response, nodding towards the view before them,

"That's pretty cool and all, but I'm more floored by this view," he pointed at the colorful drop before them, and that at the far off edge of the town that hated his guts, "it's pretty amazing." He sat back, only slightly, and slow lifted his hands from the branch below him, examining the red palms he obtained from gripping the wood far too hard. They hurt, but not as much as his lip or knuckles. He rubbed them on his jeans, stiffening slightly as the branch dipped for a moment, and then he turned to the other Scully, eyebrows raising slightly,

"So... Do you do this often?" He motioned to the trees around them, obviously curious of the other Scully's hobbies and habits.

Scully "Babyface" Vagabond

At the wild child's remark about the view, Babyface's eyes went from the nest down below, the autumn scenery coming in to view. It was nothing special, it was the sight he saw many times, though-- his eyes made a sideways glance towards the Other Scully-- this was the first time he was watching with a friend. Ears immediately tinting something hot, Scully's eyes focused on the greenery around him-- or the lack thereof. Vibrant hues of autumn with reds and yellows and everything warm seemed to collect before his eyes, the afternoon sunlight creating constellations of summer day on the forest floor.

"Yeah," Scully found himself agreeing-- maybe because he'd taken it for granted, maybe because he made a friend today, maybe because who knows but he actually did agree. The view was kinda pretty amazing. His heart skipped a beat when their hands separated, as though either of them were about to fall, but Babyface held his mouth, trying to keep his eyes on the forest below him, unable to help himself from glancing beside him now and again, as the wild child looked over his blistering wounds. Children having a tendency to mimic others, Scully found himself staring at his own hands as well, his palms red and welted, softened by the tree's pressure.

It took a moment for Babyface to realize he was being spoken to-- but of course, who else was the other Scully gonna converse with? Not to mention he was looking right at him. New friend or not, his furrowed brow and naturally intense gaze made Babyface want to flinch away as a sort of fight or flight response. "Uh, yeah. Well, no. I mean--" His right hand gripped his left forearm tightly, nails digging in as nerves made him flush in embarassment. He couldn't even carry a conversation properly. "I do it sometimes. Not a lot because... of uh, school, and weekends I don't really...."

He could feel his face melting from the heat. Sentences in papers he wrote for school almost always came out articulate and mature and well thought out, but god forbid he tried to say words with his tongue. "How bout you? D'you uh... climb a lotta trees? Or, uh..." He didn't want to say what was in his mind, especially because the other Scully was definitely thinking it too, but as he turned aside avoiding eye contact, playing with the bark by his legs, he asked, "....like... skipping school... and stuff..."
