Hi. I haven't slept in roughly 30 hours. Whenever I'm sleeped deprived, I find myself in the mood for intellectual conjecture and philosophical bullshit. So, we gather here today to ask and consider questions about the nature of reality, humanity, society, and anything that you feel needs to be discussed. How about we put it in the form of a game? I will ask a question, and the next poster will give an answer along with any length of cogent argument to support that claim, followed by a question for the next poster.

I assume that this thread will get derailed into an argument over a specific topic, and that sounds fun, so cause chaos. I'm half asleep. I couldn't care less.

So, let's start this off with a common one: Free will. Does it exist?

Free will does not exist, everything is done because something has influences us weither we like it or not. Bioshock Infinite actually does a pretty good job at exploring this topic.

Also, wtf is your current avi? Did you just take a picture of you pissing yourself on the floor a little or did you run over a smol blue jello lizard?

In the Oldfuck Skype group, Grey and Bombardier convinced me to "Ascend to a higher plane", so I asked them for a pic to switch to. Bombardier sent me a picture of lint. That is lint, apparently.

Questions 2, courtesy of the Oldfuck Skype Group: Do you exist, and is it possible to prove it? Going a bit futher, does anything exist, and is there a way of knowing?

Perhaps we exist. Perhaps we're all stars of our own personal movies. Perhaps our reality is correct, our friends are indeed real, and that time is an irreversible concept tangible with the solidity of this reality.

But perhaps we're not.

Perhaps we do not truly exist. Perhaps we know that we do not exist. Perhaps we lie to ourselves daily, tricking our minds to perceive our life as reality.

Either way, we are unable to procure a consistent result. Perhaps that's for the best, as I am afraid of what will happen when we wake up.

On a lighter note: This is a lie. Yes or No?

So, are you saying that we have no control over our actions because the effects the world around us have on our minds, aka our learned ideas and experiences, change and influence how we understand things? That is an interesting way to think about it.

I would argue that this still constitutes as "free will", since you still are the arbiter of your choices. Your state of mind and ideas may be changed by outside phenomena, and sometimes even mental phenomena, but you are still the one making those choices. Your experiences don't decide for you. "You" are the result of all of the information that you have learned, all of the choices you have made, and all of the things you have thought. Even if that "You" gains or changes information, it is still "You", arguably. So, as long as that "You" is making decisions, and not some outside force, it is still free will.

21-year old Michael Baker was searching for Pokemon around 1AM when he came across someone he believed to be a fellow Pokemon Go player. Baker asked the individual if would he like to battle.

Many players reported seeing the digital Pokémon creatures within the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. The site is also being used as a “PokeStop” for players to get in-game items.

One of the men told sheriffs’ deputies that he and his friend were playing the smartphone augmented-reality game Pokemon Go when they fell over the cliff's edge, according to the San Diego Union Tribune... ...says one of the men tumbled about 50 feet. His companion fell about 80 to 90 feet, landing on the beach...

The game has also been cited in road accidents. Texas A&M University Police tweeted this week that a vehicle struck an illegally parked car Monday, noting that the “1st driver had exited to catch a Pokémon.”

The following day a driver reportedly wrapped his car around a tree while playing “Pokemon Go” in upstate New York.

The addictive cellphone game "Pokemon Go" has led people to unlikely places to collect digital monsters - including the gates of a central California ranch that houses alcoholics and sex offenders.

One of them walked up my front yard.

To be on topic, I question the sanity of releasing such a game... so to be fully on topic. Do you agree that this is a game that should just "go"?

Pikmen Joe is a gimmick with a brandname on it, if you ask me it never should have existed to begin with. Its not pokemon, its not "augment reality technology", its just a fucking gimmick and one that's making people act like they have the IQ of President Camancho.

Oh who was it.

I think it was Hume? Then again Hume did say metaphysics is only for idiots pretty much.
I'm not sure I'd have to go digging.

Anyways he(?) suggested that everything was predetermined, however he suggested that this predetermined Universe had already allowed for points in time for free will to occur. Basically the foundation for Branching Theory and most likely the source for all infinite universe ideas we've ever come across.

I'd propose that Free Will is a human concept and since we can't detect that our life is already laid out before us with our own human comprehension then that is identical enough to be the same as free will existing.
