Genkai's Note:

This will be a 1x1x1. I will not accept more or less than two other participants.

Also these other participants must be fairly active due to the fact there will be an established and strict posting order. There's only three of us after all. One post a week is ideal. The less we wait on one another, the better. Of course trips, work, school will crop up but I have to assume if you're of an advance caliber, then you're also capable of communicating and setting/meeting deadlines. This is a hobby of course, and this is meant to be fun. However the success rests on all of our shoulders. We all should be making adjustments to world building, plot progression etc.

Post size should be around 4-5 paragraphs. I'd love more but that's the average I'll accept. We're creating a rich world, things should be observed, if your character sees papers or bottles, have them go take a look.

Lastly, though this is inspired by Dragon Age: Inquisition I am only taking one overall premise from it. The lore and magic will not directly follow the game. But the spirit of exploration and doing quests will be heavily present in the story itself. I will look to my other two writers to help foster the setting and plot (and the small quest plots) as I don't see myself as a strict GM but someone who is also along for the ride.

Overall Premise:

The majority of the story will take place on a singular but very vast continent known as Ma'heah.

There will be deserts, marshes, forests, rivers, rain forests, waterfalls, cities, towns etc. The landscape will vary quite a lot and as such, two kingdoms reign over it, always fighting to have more land than the other. One kingdom, Relle, is known for its polished and refined way of living, while the other kingdom, Balka, is known for its resources and more simple way of living. Both kingdoms have gone through cycles which have lasted over seven centuries, where they have fought, made peace and then found another reason to go to war.

The kingdom known as Balka is more keen to follow the way of logic and research and science, despite its hardship. And the kingdom known as Relle, clings to their religion, claiming their fortune (and Balka's hardship) to come from their goddess, Urkwia. Both kingdoms have been at peace for the last decade but with the sudden appearance of holes in the sky, tensions are mounting as Balka considers these to be attacks from Relle and their supposed goddess. Relle on the other hand, considers these tears in the heaven to be a sign that they deserve more of Ma'heah's lands.

Ambassadors spearheading negotiations are growing concerned as nothing seems to be helping the rips in the sky. And from said rips, demons are spawning and terrorizing people from both kingdoms. An emergency call is put out to those from either kingdom, hoping mages and scholars and knights can all come together to tackle the rifts which seem to appear at an alarming rate. Mages are only partly effective towards killing the demons but the rifts themselves remain open, like a festering wound.

Enter our three heroes.

One is formidable in earth. They are able to harness healing, move boulders, summon vines and create excessive overgrowth upon their enemies. Another is formidable in water. They are able to move bodies of water and bend them to their will. They can also create shards of ice and send tidal waves upon those who oppose them. And the final one is formidable in wind. They can summon large cyclones, move objects, levitate and cut through air.

All three of these stranger have been in a similar accident, on separate occasions.

When they were near a rift and fending off enemies, they were briefly sucked into it and taken to the other side, a place they assumed to be death or whatever aftermath lies beyond life itself. Suddenly their right hand began to glow a bright white light and suddenly they were back in their world, closing the rift. All three of these people have gone to the gathering, hoping that their mark on their hand, can shed some light on the problem facing all of Ma'heah. Upon arriving however, a large rift forms, the biggest sighted one to date. As people are being attacked and killed, while some lucky flee, the three heroes band together to close the rift, as all three of their elements melt together to soothe the broken sky.

As the smoke clears, people are in awe but also upset by the new revelation.

Who are these three?

What do their new powers mean?

Can they form a group, gain support and travel to stop the war but also close the rifts?

Closing Thoughts:

Yeah it's a little scattered, poorly presented but I do have to go in about thirty and wanted this up before I went out.

In the OOC, things will be much better, more organized, quests will be outlined etc.

Now just because your character uses magic, doesn't mean they need to be a mage. They can still use a sword and shield if they like. Be creative but not outrageous. They can be a merchant or even a mother of four. But this should go without saying, make sure any character you're thinking of submitting, isn't overly nefarious. They don't have to be a saint but let's be honest, if your character is a shady dick, no one is going to deal with them, saving the world or not. So let's just assume for now, the heavens picked your character because they inherently want to save the world, now if they want to save it for selfish reasons, fine. But just don't make someone who isn't into teamwork when that's the crutch of this story.

I am looking for one male and one female character. I will probably double up and play a mentor to even the sexes out. Gotta keep more romance options open right? And yes, flirting and romance should be encouraged but of course sexual scenes should be kept to PM and inform us in the OOC if something happened.

Also this isn't first come first serve. Don't join looking to only play "x character" because you may not get it, and then you leave the rest of us high and dry. Join because you want to explore and create a world together.

I'll leave this up for maybe a day but I'd rather get rolling now because I have an itch for DA: I that needs scratching.

@XSilentWingsX Same here, I don't get the hate the game gets. It's so much fun, despite ALL THE QUESTS.

@POOHEAD189 I'll need to know sooner rather than later.

@The Roman07 Oh yeah, no problem!

So if any of you folks have questions or character ideas, let me know so we can get some discussion circulating, as I think it's better to talk and brainstorm thoughts before an OOC, just to break the ice a little and so I know what people are considering.

Ok kool, so i had an idea on an earth or wind character but i was curious on what exactly will be adopted from DaI? Will we have similar races and race racism? Will the magic be similar as if only a few can really harness the power of magic and not succumb to the demons lurking. Will there be templars, Lyrium, rifts (or just the veil). The rule of law? And last but not least, the overall power level of our main characters. Would they each be on par withe the "Inquisitor" or would the fact that we would have to use teamwork indicate a much lower power level?

Ps: just a side note, i am on my smartphone so i apologize for any misspellings or typos during my time on here. I no longer have a laptop, but that doesnt mean i cant write some good shizzle:)

I also am leaning more toward the earth or wind character (I'm throwing around ideas of a more scholarly mage type, or perhaps someone a bit more roguish/adventurous). Would the three characters be moving toward creating a larger force, like the Inquisition? Also, what kind of place in society do mages have at the start of this? Something like the circles, or more independent colleges of magi or something along those lines? I also had a question about what religion was like in Balka. Are most people generally not religious? You mentioned that they partially blame the rifts on Relle's goddess, so I was wondering what the country's relationship with religion was.

I'm very interested in playing. I'm happy to play any of the characters as I have ideas for each. I've got a strong background in writing and love the improvisation of collaborative story telling. Please let me know if you are interested.

@XSilentWingsX Our characters would need other alleys and assets, spies, etc. So if further down the line someone wishes to tack on minor side roles, they're welcome to. A pure mage is fine by me, they're always stylish. In terms of a mage's place in the world, they're seen more 'equal' in Balka, whereas in Relle, the magical users are considered slightly 'holy' or esteemed. I'd say there's no religion in Balka, some may follow that in Relle but generally most in Balka consider themselves 'enlightened' in the sense that they don't cling to myths or prophets and use their time/energy more wisely. And when it comes to Balka blaming the rifts on Relle's worship of religion, it's more of a mockery, but it would certainly cause some to reconsider their views on not practicing a religion.

@VitriolicQuill And hello hello (again). It's so sad that roleplays downplay the aspect of romping around a forest and looking for things and helping lost travelers. I know it can be pushed to the side for action but exploration is a fine endeavor so I am hoping our group can have fun while staying interested/motivated.

@The Roman07 I would say the basic races (maybe minus the Qunari because they're not really needed) would still apply since this is also a fantasy tale. I would say racism would be pretty downplayed though (no 'knife ear' comments for example) as people are more looked upon for their skills than their ancestry/origins. Of course you can still have someone who dislikes or is made uncomfortable by a race but it just wouldn't be as common or as 'accepted to discriminate'. Does that make sense? There probably won't be Lyrium in the story, unless the majority want it. Not that I don't but I'm trying to select the least amount of clutter from DAI (to me that would be the Chantry, sorry Leliana! Among other technical details). In terms of power level, I should just consider skill level since we're not keeping stats or skills on too tight of a leash. I'd say they would be pretty good fighters considering they leaped into the fray without blinking an eye.

Though with you on a phone and without a laptop, I do worry about you being able to crank out the expected amount. Not that it's impossible but...a good sized paragraph does look different depending if you're on a small screen or a normal one. ^^; And element aside, did you consider a stab-y sort of role or a character more into long distance archery or...?

@eloraczyr In regards to you asking about the OOC, one will likely be made tomorrow afternoon or evening.

To All: Considering I have more possible writers than intended (better than fewer haha) I will accept side/advisory roles. They'd still be main characters and along for the ride and they can still have magical skills but they just wouldn't be closing rifts so hey, less of an occupational hazard. These "side/advisory" roles would have special connects to other allies/spies/resources etc.

Thoughts guys?

@Genkai I did some brain storming as to what I would put in a roleplay like this, and am more than willing to fill out a character sheet to go with it.

I was thinking a retired (or run away) assassin from a lord's or royal family's personal Arsenal. They'd be well versed in disguise, so the identity, alias, etc. They'd give to the rest of the party may not be true, and may be subject to change as they would be well versed in disguise.

As such, I'm super flexible with wherever this character would fall into place. I was thinking for the wind element. But I can fill whatever role is needed for the group :) No worries here.

@Genkai ok that sounds like it may work out well. I kind of hoped there would be more internal conflict besides the rifts since that makes everything juicy and plump with drama. About my characters role... I was thinking of less of a stabby-slashy type of character and more of a calm speaking, silver tongued monk-like character who does not like bloodshed and carries a stave instead of blades. I figured there would be an abundance of ex assassins, lord commanders and mage warlords and figured id go a different route. I wouldnt worry about the amout i write since ive been on the site for three generations. Survived both teardowns and kept kicking haha. What i mean is going through the trouble of using bbcode or html to change font colors or sizing and hiders might be a pain for me on a phone, not the core material.

Heres a wip that im just gonna throw out there to see if im on the right track here:

Name: Richard Alexander Grimsby Aka. "Grim"

Age: 29

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Element: Air

Height: 5'11"

Weight: 195lbs

Appearance summary: Dark brown hair falls just below his ears in a sloppy unkempt mess. Blue eyes covered in bandages as not to scare the childern. A rugged 5 O'clock shadow outlines a slightly gaunt face and angled jaw. Light traces of faint scars decorate the cheekbones and travel up towards the eyes and dissapear behind the bandages on his sun tanned olive skin. A suprisingly delightfull smile outlines a calm expression and a sense of relief. A toned and trained athletic body covered in worn out robes of a light blue and white, faded from the sun. Bandages wrap his feet and hide the scars from walking hundreds of miles barefoot.

Weapon:
Grim's staff is about 6.5 feet long and is actually an old harvesters scythe with the blade end broken off. The frayed end where the blade used to be is waxed and wrapped in white ribbons as adornment.

@Genkai I've got a couple rough ideas: Elf Tempest Rogue - Water; Dwarf Champion Fighter - Earth; Dwarf Artificer Rogue - Air.

I see the elf character as a fun Jackie Chan/Scanlan the Gnomish Bard type, wielding beer as both balm and bane.

On the more serious side of things, I'm really interested in the ramifications of an exiled Dwarf having some of this elemental power and what it might mean for the world. Are the rifts to the Fade allowing races previously unable to wield magic a connection to this mysterious realm? Is he/she just a fluke, an aberration or are they the first of a new generation? Will they be sought out as mentors or hunted as abominations?

I'm thinking of an elven earth-type character, and I was wondering about what kind of society the elves would have in this world. As I was going mostly off of DA, I imagined a character more similar to the Dalish who then went to study in a more formal college of magic, but perhaps the elves would be more integrated with the rest of the world's societies (at least at this point in history)?
