As implied by the title, this is a mystery/adventure type game set in the world of Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn books. It is set 5 years before Alloy of Law, and will take place in and around Elendel. Sound good? Read on.
Lord Tevidian Tekiel the Third, High Lord of the most powerful banking family in Elendel, has disappeared. How? Why? No one knows. The constabulary are flumoxxed and while the broadsheets are a fountain of speculation, the Tekiels cry bloody murder against the kidnappers and the other noble houses of Elendel become increasingly agitated that an unknown force could strike to the heart of such a powerful institution.
As the city works itself up into a frenzy and the perpetrators are no closer to being found, Elendel’s senate has pushed and allowed for the constabulary to create a special investigative crew with far-reaching powers of inquiry and arrest. This new “17th Squad” as it is known will be a team of uniquely qualified individuals with the skills to see Lord Tevidian returned safely. They’re not just top cops either, or even cops at all. The idea isn’t that they have a brilliant record in the constabulary or even with the law. They just have to be able to get the job done.
So who are these people and what are their skills? That’s for you to decide. In this game, you will be playing the members of the 17th Squad as you delve into this mystery. Good luck, and remember: there's always another secret.
I don’t feel like I have to write much here, because if you’re reading this far down, you’ve also read the books, right? You already know where Elendel is and what it’s like, how allomancy and feruchemy work, and all that good stuff. Still, here are a few useful links if you ever need a refresher or some specific details on the world.
Map of the Elendel Basin and surrounding lands
Map of Elendel City
Excerpts from the gamebook accompanying the Mistborn tabletop game, including a lot of worldbuilding details.
The Coppermind wiki, which is a bit patchy but still very useful.
Finally, this game was created before Shadows of Self and Bands of Mourning were published, so we'll not really be including any of the revelations that came from those books. You do not need to be familiar with them, because I was working solely off of Alloy of Law and the original trilogy.
This layout is only a suggestion, so feel free to change the format if you wish.
