Another GM post will be moving us into the infiltration scenes. One group will be Cedric and Finch, on the battlements, surveying the courtyard and peering into the windows using spyglasses. Another group will be Gaela and Kiralla, bought into the castle to walk among the nobles and meet with the court mage using a forgery of a letter from the Synod Archmage. Another group will be Fiona and Faruq using Brynn to get into the castle walls by saying he's their prisoner. The last group will be Maulakanth, Cyrendil and our newest friend doing some good ol' sewer crawling.

So, are we ever going to get time to actually have some character interaction that is not implied? I feel like we're being rushed straight through.

I'm not even going to post this until our cool sicc new bro gets a chance to introduce his Dunmer proper. Finch also has a post for this scene that's important for his character, so I'm not going to detract from that any. Not only that, but I do know that no one has had any conversation beyond the cliques their characters have formed, with Cyrendil endlessly isolating himself every time from the group when there is a chance for the characters to get to know each other. We're almost all basically stereotypes to each other still, with everyone off-handedly commenting on Brynn raping everything with a hole with his gang, Cyrendil is That Altmer Who Is A Vigilant and Maulakanth is a murderhobo to everyone but Cedric.

It's kind of hard to hold conversations if the party is either time skipping traveling or fighting.

It's also hard to hold a proper conversation if the whole group of eight characters is in the same room together. Interaction works best in smaller congregations and separating the characters a la @Leidenschaft's proposal means that most of the characters will have a chance to interact with someone they haven't talked to yet, save Gaela and Kiralla.

Additionally, and this is just my personal opinion, I didn't join this RP to have weeks of dialogue. We're a group of criminals forced to complete a mission together. I'd like to get to the mission bit and then have characters bond through action and mischief and all that good shit. Dialogue is easier to write if our characters have something to talk about anyway, e.g. after a good scrap or in the middle of an infiltration operation.

Hank definitely has a point there. Dervish and I have been running RPs for a while and we notice they always got bogged down when any of these happened:

-We were too laissez-faire with the players
-We let them have too many collab posts
-Literally nothing of note (anything from a fight to a character's admittance to something or a great reveal) happened for any length of time

There will always, always be chances for characters to interact. This scene in the tavern was to introduce us into Camlorn and allude to us plotting, as well as just so happening to be a place for Finch to further his character's arc just a wee bit and for a certain Dunmer to introduce themselves. I tried splitting each group into characters I think wouldn't give each other the time of day given your regular ol' tavern scene. I wanted to pen you guys in and force your characters out of their comfort zones when it came to people they're not used to fraternizing with. Brynn vs Fiona and Faruq are particularly at odds with one another, one being a man whose reputation has spiralled out of control and whose betrayal by his group is shrouded in rumor and the others being otherwise righteous do-gooders who Brynn would've had to fight in any other kind of meeting with them.

This kind of dynamic can be seen by Mauly's group, that and I really want to peel back Cyrendil's shell and get him talking about his life somehow. I'll get you one of these days, you sonofabitch. But I know these things take time, I'm just saying, conversation will happen. Dervs and I wanted to get you into the filet mignon of the story. All we've experienced so far was the pre-dinner salad, so to speak.

AS for introducing "cool new dunmer" proper, anyone feeling like they can lean a hand for a collab? It would make thinks much easier.

I have a suggestion~

If you guys want in order to get Valen in on the plan anyone of us could catch him leering nearby in the tavern then bring him in on the basis of needing an extra pair of hands in the sewers. Something relatively simple to squeak him in.

I can imagine Brynn or Finch picking him out of the crowd, both of them are typically suspicious of everyone anyway, and they're sort of all about that scene. Sure, we're all criminals, but those two especially have made a life of crime/street-living.

Or even Cyrendil. He's the closest thing to a law enforcement officer we have.
