@Deserted
In the past few weeks I have been looking for a dedicated group to spend time with. So my deepest congrats to you, you DID IT. I would very much like to be part of your merry group, and I may also have the means for communication. I have a Discord server with a few bots and stuff ready to roll.

As for what is interesting about me, I think my BIO pretty much sums it up. I am very active, I like science and fantasy, but I play pretty much everything. I love music, and I study social behaviour in my free time (readimg YT comments). And you can hardly find a more misfit person than me, perfect for every occasion. Fun guaranteed 100%.

C-could I bump in here? Been looking for a few good storytellers to make friends with, share stories and write stuff with.

I'm Singaporean, with a firm grasp of the English language. I've been roleplaying and writing for about ten years or so now. By trade, I'm a registered nurse, so I've seen shit. I've learned the basics of psychology, physiology, pharmacology and a whole bunch of other -ology subjects in school. Plus, since I'm Singaporean, I've served my two years of mandatory enlistment in the Singapore Army as a combat medic.

My loves in the realm of literature are riveting, dramatic stories. Stephen King is my number one idol. John Grisham, Tom Clancy, Kathy Reichs and Raymond E. Feist all come up as close seconds on my fave writers list. My favourite genres are, in no particular order: noir, detective stories, murder mysteries, fictional war or military stories, high fantasy and urban fantasy settings.

Currently I'm writing (well, re-writing) a novel idea I've had in my head for several years and only now starting to get it onto paper. It's an urban fantasy setting, with heavy noir and detective influences.

I'm also the GM for a tabletop campaign amongst a group of my local friends. The campaign and world itself were designed by a good friend of mine, who requested that I write the lore and fluff as well as produce a campaign as an "alpha test" for the game systems. So far, we're about seven months and seven game sessions in, and everyone's having loads of fun.

I'd really love to have a bunch of like-minded individuals to make friends with and talk shop with too.

@Polybius Personally I find dice rolls cumbersome online. I mean, don't get me wrong I have a healthy pile o'dice at home that I use regularly and it's a constant battle not to buy ALL THE DICE! That said, I have never found my groove using dice rolls online. I'm not necessarily opposed to learning, I just feel like it makes it a little harder to get into the storytelling.

@DJAtomikaWe all have a dice problem. I think I spend more money on dices that I spend on any other collectibles. Okay, maybe my video game expenses dwarf that number a bit

@6slyboy6 I think we're all just lucky that dice are relatively inexpensive.

@Everyone-More questions for everyone if you're so inclined :)

1. What are your favorite universes within your favorite genres?

2. Would you rather fight 100 duck sized horses or one horse sized duck?

3. Favorite character/class to play?

And of course the obligatory:
4. If you could have a super power, what would it be?

I'll bite.
1. Ones of my own creation. Although, I have a soft spot for Star Trek and have recently fancied everything Jack Vance.
2. 100 horses. I'll bring sugar and carrots.
3. Depends on the setting and what others are playing.
4. Muppet-vision. If I'm having a bad day, just throw on the ol' muppet vision and boss is instantly fozzy the bear.

1. No setting that pops out of one's mind is forgettable or unlikable. I like to say that there are no favourites, just things we know well. But if you insist, I choose The Expanse for sci-fi and LoTR for fantasy.

2. One horse sized duck. You can fight one opponent or a hundred. The bigger they are the bigger they fall.

3. Everything. I mostly tend to be a rouge character, trying to justify his/her actions with tragic events that happened in her past, amking them versatile, passionate and determined, but overall mentally shook and therefore unreliable. my favourite character has to be SID thought, the time and space travelling badass quantum entity that changes it's bodies every generation. The lore is endless.

4. I have thought about this a lot in the past, and I can safely say that anything that could let me manipulate elements, especially earth or air would be an awesome power. I would dig the ability to create things out of nothing, sort of a riftmancer.

I want to add the MOST IMPORTANT question:

5. How do you like your steak?

I personally like it well made ;D

1) For me, my all-time favourite universe would have to be the John Constantine universe. It's gritty, dark detective noir mixed together with dark fantasy.

2) 100 duck-sized horses.

3) If it's a fantasy class, either the Thief or the Bard. If it's a more modernised class, the Marksman or the Scout.

4) The power to cure any disease.

5) Medium rare. No exceptions.

So, enough on recruiting for games. That isn't working out, and enough for applying to games, that isn't working out. So, let's just focus on meeting some new respectable people and decide where to go from there.

I had 1 and 4 happen to me at the same time. I created a character for an RP based on a popular anime, only to have the GM and his buddy tell me I was stupid because I didn't know lore that wasn't even in the original anime, just the Manga and/or spinoff. Then I said "well this is what I was going for, so how could I fix it" and they decided that insulting me further was the best response. Then they asked the Mods of the site to delete where they did all of this and told me not to come back to their RP.

2 is super common on mine. I've literally had 5 or 6 people sign up then only 1 or 2 bother to make characters. Then one of them abandons it after a single post.

3 also happens from time to time, where I create a unique world but I get no interest. Occasionally I get one person to sign up after 3 weeks of silence, but by then it's not really worth running any more, especially with only 1 character that's not a GM character.

I would love to participate if your are trying to create one people will actually play. I've been making generic ones just so people will stick around.

1) I like too many. I like fantasy sometimes and sci-fi others. If you can combine the two that's even better.
2) One horse-sized duck. The duck sized horses would be too fast and wouldn't taste very good.
3) Mechanic or scientist.
4) Generic energy manipulation or telekinesis. So many things you can do with it, and can even fake many other powers.

Well, this is becoming pretty awesome. I would recommend that each of you branch off and run one additional cell as well just so that we can network. But for now I'm pretty sure that if we run a game we have plenty of players and might get bogged down if we have some more folks.

So, the question arises... What are we going to play? Totally ready to jump into something. Ideas?

I had an idea a few years ago and am in the process of fleshing it out, in case any of you have any ideas. It's a modern fantasy RP with some sci-fi aspects.

So, I think it is time we make an organised, live chat group to have better communication. Here is a link to the Discord channel I made.

@6slyboy6 I think your idea of the live gaming is awesome. However, I think we may have too many folks with different lifestyles and different time-zones to make it work. For instance, I pop a post in here and there between job tickets at work. A board works just fine but I will be in so much trouble live chatting while I'm supposed to be working, and my newborn has given a defiant "no" to late-night gaming.

I suspect that is the case with a number of folks. Why don't we ask people?

What do you guys think? Is a chat conversation (or for that matter a chat game, which would be totally be awesome) be possible for most of you?

I do the same thing! During down time at work I tend to lurk around here but I have less time at home and on weekends. My preferred style is posting board with the occasional chat based live RP which is then posted. That way it's more of a special treat when we have time, but not a requirement (which would make me unable to play with the group).

@TheUnknowable This idea sounds great! I've always liked the idea of traditional fantasy races in the modern world. Your setting sounds very interesting, almost like Shadowrun. Love it!

I get what you mean guys. But live chat is only as live as this site can be. We post something in a channel, adn when someone has time they'll check it. There is a dedicated channel just for that on the Discord room I have. Of course it reeks of emptiness right now, but as a group we don't necessarely do everything with every people. And if we could have one room for general caht with whoever is online, and one for things that aren't live, and can be postponed there, that would be more awesome. Not to mention the fact that we can insert dice rolls, commands, trivia, and all that in one chat, whilst here we can only do one thing at a slight delay.

I love this site, don't get me wrong. But if we could use ONE site for things we'd need 3-4 using this method, my vote is for a dedicated room for our dedicated group. How's that sound?
