Considered by many to be the strongest, most powerful telepath in the world, Professor Xavier can perceive the thoughts of others or project his own within a range of approximately 150 miles. His vast psionic powers enable him to manipulate the minds of others, warp perceptions to make himself and others appear invisible, project mental illusions, cause loss of particular memories or total amnesia, and induce pain or temporary mental and/or physical paralysis in others; though he is loath to use the latter three abilities unless absolutely necessary, given the moral and ethical dilemmas they pose.

Within close range, he can manipulate almost any number of minds for such simple feats. However, he can only take full possession of one other mind at a time, and must strictly be within that person's physical presence to do so. He is one of the few telepaths skilled enough to communicate with animals. He can also telepathically take away or control people's natural bodily functions and senses, such as sight, hearing, smell, taste, or touch. However, he cannot permanently "reprogram" human minds to believe what he might want them to believe even if he wanted to do so, believing that the mind is an organism that would always recall the steps necessary for it to reach the present and thus 'rewrite' itself to its original setting if he tried to change it; though such rewrites could theoretically take years, if not decades.

He can learn foreign languages by reading the language centers of the brain of someone adept, and alternately "teach" languages to others in the same manner, transmitting information between minds at an execrated speed.

Xavier can perceive the distinct mental presence/brain waves of other superhuman mutants within a small radius of himself (e.g. New York City.) To detect mutants in a wider area beyond this radius, he must amplify his powers through artificial augmentation to expand his psychic perception.

Should the need for offensive action occur, Charles can project concentrated bolts of psychic energy from his mind that can cause effects ranging from significant pain and discomfort, to loss of consciousness, or even permanent mental trauma and death; though Charles ensures that every potential alternate route is taken before resorting to outright violence.

A natural genius, Charles is a renowned mind on the subjects of genetics, mutation, and psionics. He possesses considerable expertise in other life sciences such as biology, psychiatry, psychology, and anthropology. He is highly talented in devising equipment and techniques for utilizing and enhancing psionic powers, and is in the process of developing blueprints towards an "amplifier" capable of enhancing his telepathic range.

Philanthropist, scientist, humanitarian, and teacher, Charles Xavier has devoted the better part of his life to the betterment of both man and mutantkind, wishing to create a co-existing society where the human need not fear the mutant, and the mutant need not resent the human. Called a genius by many, a father figure and leader by his students, and a lunatic by his opponents, Charles presents himself as a moral, selfless, and benevolent teacher; possessing immense discipline and strength of character. Viewed as a pillar of strength and morality by many of his students and even co-teachers, Charles often puts his own needs and concerns aside to ensure the safety and well-being of those under his care comes first.

A fully-fledged genius, Charles spends much of his spare time in the pursuit of knowledge and learning, frequently finding new topics and histories to explore. His office is known to be packed to the brim with books and encyclopedias; while his desk is more-often-than-not crowded by some new map or tome from ancient times.

Though born into wealth and raised rather lavishly, Charles never received much in the way of attention or love from his mother, and was often left inside his family's spacious mansion alone; developing closer relationships with the house's servants than with his own family. As a result, Charles is empathetic and compassionate almost to a fault, carrying all the world's concerns on his shoulders in hope of a better future.

However, in spite of all his compassion, Charles can be arrogant, callous, and over-controlling at times, his strong desire to help others often causing him to unintentionally control those around him. This paternalistic attitude stems from being born in the early 1900s as a privileged male and as a highly skilled telepath, he thinks he can understand a person better than they can know themselves, and therefore believes that he knows best in terms of what it is they truly "need."

Despite this arrogance, Charles is aware of his extremes and faults, and will repent should he discover that he has gone too far.

In the end Charles' greatest strength is his moral compass and indomitable will that would never waver, no matter what obstacles he faces.

Born in the town of Salem in Washington County, New York late December, 1916, the young Charles Xavier lived a life of luxury since infancy.

His father, Brian Xavier was a well-known and respected nuclear scientist, known for his philanthropy and strength of character that he sought to instill in his young son.

Charles showed signs of his mutant abilities from a very early age onward, randomly speaking aloud, as though in conversation, even if he was the only person in the room, or spending hours upon hours playing against himself in chess, or even simply staring at a wall, totally lost in thought. Though unnerved, Charles' parents equated his strength behavior towards simple developmental phases he would outgrow.

Upon reaching the age of eight years old, Charles' father was killed in a fatal lab accident that caused minor unrest, though all investigation declared the incident an accident. Now left without a major source of income, Charles' mother, Sharon; a wealthy British socialite, soon married Brian's lab assistant Kurt Marko, barely a year after her husband's death.

Charles' withdrawn behavior continued, and his new stepfather attempted to teach him how to play sports, to run, or climb trees; such lessons ending after a particularly nasty fall during an ill-fated lesson broke Charles' leg, leaving him with a permanent, pronounced limp on his right side.

Left to his own devices once again and unable to experience the full potential of athletics, Charles devoted himself to study, using his family's vast resources to read hundreds of books and encyclopedias, using this newfound passion towards learning to excel in his studies.

By the age of eighteen, Charles had graduated from Harvard University with a PhD in genetics, ranking amongst the academy's most prestigious alumni.

Having grown tired of being stuck in the family mansion, Charles, overcome with wanderlust decided to spend the next few years of his life traveling; absorbing different cultures with a ravenous hunger for knowledge.

His travels led him to Asia, Europe, and Africa, where he amassed a vast repertoire of knowledge and experiences that shaped his life from his sheltered upbringing.

Eventually settling in Britain, the homeland of his mother, Charles decided to settle down and pursue a career in education; pooling his resources together and applying for a job as a lecturer at Oxford University.

Though astounded by his young age and lack of experience, Charles' record and accomplishments spoke for themselves and he was soon offered a position as the new lecturer of biology at Oxford.

Young enough to be a student, himself and possessing the look of a vagabond, Charles was nonetheless an excellent teacher, his sheer knowledge and method of instruction quickly making him a favorite among students.

It was during this time that Charles, still curious about his own relatively unexplored telepathic abilities began to use the university's resources to do research into Homo sapiens superior: mutants, humans born with a rare genetic trait called an X-gene that granted them superhuman powers and abilities.

Research turned into borrowing books from the library; borrowing books from the library turned into writing thesis papers on the subject, containing remarkable theories regarding the existence and genetic makeup of mutants.

Word was spread of Charles' work, and he quickly turned from being a marvel of the university to a mentally deranged lunatic, "swaying his students away from science with talks of fictitious magic."

Charles knew it wouldn't be long before the school board eventually stripped him of his degree and reputation before promptly terminating his employment. Deciding to try and preserve as much of his dignity as he could, Charles quickly turned in his resignation, leaving him jobless on the streets of Britain while now the laughingstock of Oxford.

However, the passing glares and snickers from bystanders did little to dissuade Charles, only reinforcing his desire to learn more about his condition -- and find if anyone else like him existed. He began searching for connections anywhere he could find them, relying on a few old colleagues from the university who did not totally shun him.

One of these colleagues spoke of an acquaintance he knew who was also rumored to be studying the mutant condition. Given the man's name of Erik Lehnsherr and that he was last heard from in New York, Charles quickly sought out once more to return to his homeland.

Using his telepathic abilities, Charles eventually managed to locate Erik, and introduced himself as a scientist seeking to research the mutant condition.

Though put off at first by this stranger's apparent clairvoyance, Erik soon discovered that Charles was a mutant as well; and the two decided to form a partnership that shared one goal: to unite mutants together in a haven they could live without worry, without fear of prejudice. Erik, having seen firsthand how even regular humans were treated by each other, accepted Charles' offer to join him, the two of them spending the next few years of their lives recruiting young mutants around the world, occupying a refurbished bar and military bunker as their home and school, Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters: The X-Men.

Other:

  • Charles still suffers apparent pain in his right leg, caused by arthritis that settles itself in his knee due to odd posture. Though quite manageable, Charles finds it nearly impossible to walk without the aid of a personal cane.
  • Charles possesses exceptional talent at playing the piano, keeping his own personal keyboard inside his office. Charles emphasizes that students are more than welcome to observe him play, so long as they abide by the rule to keep quiet and non-disruptive.

Known to have been typically carefree and exceedingly fun-loving young man when he was in his teen years, Erik was always seen to be an extrovert, extremely curious of the world around him, and only sometimes tolerable amongst his peers aside from those who he was able to call his friends- a rather hopeless romantic when it came to his first true love, Magda; Erik was quick to fall, promising her the world and doing everything that he possibly could to deliver it to her. Devastated, and completely broken by her passing; Erik was wracked with guilt at the knowledge that ultimately her untimely death had come by the mercy of his own hand- the humans responsible for the fire which had destroyed their home having come for him after having caught him slipping up one night as the local pub, using his powers to demonstrate a simple parlour trick which (among his friends) usually gained a laugh or two.

Darkened by his loss, and seeking revenge on those who had caused it, Erik fled across the sea and to America for a new start, biding time and only helping to deepen his already seething hatred towards the human race. Now naturally quiet and extremely sarcastic, Eric is seen by those who know him as being rather brooding and irascible, a man who oftentimes prefers to be within his own company, but one who possesses a great strength of character. Initially seen to be quite ill of nature, and rather dark minded, Erik throughout his life has began to become overly paranoid (especially of Germans) and just a bit cynical of the world around him; also known to be rather misanthropic, Erik has at times when his emotions are shown to get the better of him, become very defensive and prone to violence, lashing out at others, and unleashing his powers without really meaning to do so.

Living with a very jaded view on life, and lacking slightly in social skills; underneath the very hardened and angered shell he has placed around his heart, Erik hides a great deal of pain and loneliness over the tragedy of his past- riddled with survivor’s guilt over the death of his first real love, and the ultimate demise of any chance he had of a family which he more times than not blames on himself. Exhibiting an immense amount of pride in being a mutant; Erik often shows arrogance, seeking out power in his pursuit to survive, and to search for revenge against those that have wronged him, and the ones he loved in the past. Not above taking advantage of his underling’s insecurities, Erik chooses to offer them power, and as such, confidence in exchange for their compliance in his plans to get just what it is that he wishes- morally unsound in his means at best… rather brutal and haphazard when at his worst… Erik isn’t afraid to do what he must to keep them in line, even if it means scaring or bullying them. Biography:
Once known by all to be a fun-loving young man, full of life and dreams; Max was born an only child to a young Jewish couple living in Poland. Growing fast, and into a curious and outgoing teen, it seemed he was always getting into trouble; his parents having to keep close eye on him, and those who never really considered him to be a friend tolerating him at the best of times due to his childish antics and slightly cocky nature.

Hitting the age of nineteen, and having matured quite a bit from the goofy kid he had once been, Max began to focus more on his future, and when his path unwittingly crossed with that of a young woman by the name of Magda, it seemed as though he had finally found everything that he ever wanted in life. Promising her the world, and doing everything that he possibly could to deliver on it; Max proposed to her, choosing to celebrate the fact that she had said yes, and the beginning of his new life with her by sharing a few drinks with his friends at a the local pub.

Having a few too many to drink, and unable to resist it when his friends begged for him to show them some of the tricks he had been doing for years, Max gave in, using his powers to pull a mug from one end of the bar to the other. A simple parlor trick… something that he had done so many times in the past… How was he expected to know that not all in the pub would find it as amusing as his friends did.

Woken in the dead of night by angered yells and the sound of broken glass, Max scrambled to help his fiancé escape, though separated from one another and unable to do anything due to the raging flames lapping up their home; Max made his way outside, hoping and praying to all and any who could hear him to help keep her safe from harm, though as the sound of her terrified screams filled the air, his heart was shattered, and he was forced to sit and watch as the fire destroying their home consumed the woman he loved with all his heart.

Finding nothing more than a necklace he had given to her for her birthday a few years prior, Max fled the country, his guilt of surviving turning into hatred with every mile that took him further and further away from his home. Arriving in America, and now going by the name Erik Lehnsherr, he once more threw himself into his work though now as a way to try and forget the horror of his past; though with his pain and fear never far from his mind, he began to plan, biding his time for when he would be able to return back to Poland, and take revenge on those who had wronged him in his life… it was during this time that he met him.

Charles Xavier; a professor at Oxford with an interesting outlook on life, and on what it was that he could do. Curious about what this man knew about his powers, Erik chose to stay, putting his plan for revenge on hold, and instead agreeing to help Charles in his attempt to make a better world… a safer world for people who were like them. Now a professor himself at the school for gifted youngsters, Erik focuses on doing all that he can to help young mutants not only accept what and who they are, but also to control and master what they can do- showing them that they are capable, and worthy of far greater things in life.

Magnetokinesis - One of the more powerful mutants in existence on the planet, Erik has the power to not only channel, but also manipulate and generate magnetic fields that exist both naturally or artificially- a power which, for all practical purposes, limitless. Once able to hold more control over, and had time to master his abilities, Erik is able to maintain total control of an entire planet’s electromagnetic field, and manipulate it accordingly, giving him the power to use his harnessed magnetism to not only stop armies, but to also do things such as raise islands from the ocean floor, move mountains, change the course of rivers, threaten to devastate the world with apocalyptic floods and continent shaking earthquakes, and blanket the entire globe in a self-generated electromagnetic pulse that could (potentially) cause widespread panic and devastation.

Moreover, Erik is able to use his magnetic powers in more ways than one simultaneously, as well as do things such as completely assemble a complicated machine within seconds using nothing but his strong abilities- Erik is also one of the rare few mutants who is able to stop mind probes and attacks by interfering with the magnetic field used by telepaths to enter a person’s thoughts.

  • Magnetic Force-Fields - Eric is able to usually protect not only himself, but also others with a force-field that he is able to quickly expand to cover large areas; his force-field able to withstand the effects of multiple nuclear weapons, volcanic eruptions, the depths of space, and attacks from multiple mutants and superhumans.
  • Magnetic Flight - Erik is capable of sustaining flight over vast distances, and at varying speeds using his magnetic abilities.
  • Magnetic Pulse - Erik has the ability to focus his magnetic energy into an extremely powerful concussive blast which he is then able to utilize for multiple purposes.
  • Matter Manipulation - Erik is able to manipulate matter, even to the subatomic level, and for a number of different purposes- this particular ability able to explain why he is not only limited to objects with metallic properties, and is able to manipulate objects with non-metallic properties such as wood, stone, plastics, ect. to such a degree; this is due to the electromagnetic force of which exists between the atoms and other subatomic particles.
  • Electromagnetic Sight - By concentrating on what it is that he is doing, Erik has the ability to perceive the world around himself as patterns of magnetic and electrical energy; giving him the power to watch the natural magnetic auras surrounding living beings, and to study their current physical and mental condition.
  • Metallic Bonding - Though unaware that he is able to do so, Erik has the power to atomically bond metallic substances to any designated surface material; this particular ability allows him to lend metallic alloys with not only the Earth, but also water, and air.
  • Organic Iron Manipulation - Able to control the traces of iron within organic matter, Erik has the power to have full control over an opponent’s body, allowing him to manipulate the iron-enriched blood flowing through a person’s veins- to the point in which he is able to save or help people who have been injured by metal (bullets, ect.).
  • Geomagnetic Link – Tied exceedingly close to the Earths EM field, Erik is able to be affected just as it is affected; this link allowing him to know instinctively all that happens to it, and as the Earth grows stronger, so does he, drawing on its power unconsciously.


Electromagnetic Spectrum Manipulation - Although Erik’s primary power is his Magnetism, he has an extensive ability to both project and manipulate any form of energy that is related to the electromagnetic spectrum; this particular ability allows him to not only fire and absorb bolts of electricity and magnetic force, as well as reverse lasers and other forms of radiation or energy, create enough intense heat as infrared radiation to level a city, manipulate gravity, and become invisible by deflecting visible light around his body.

Telepathic Resistance - Although having no experience in this particular ability at the moment, with practice Erik will be able to build up a resistance to almost all but the strongest of telepathic attacks; and along with his strong will, Erik’s ability to resist mind attacks is strong and almost unbreakable.

Abilities:
His primary mutant power is an accelerated healing process, typically referred to as his mutant healing factor, that regenerates damaged or destroyed tissues of his body far beyond the capabilities of an ordinary human. In addition to accelerated healing of physical traumas, Logan's healing factor makes him extraordinarily resistant to diseases, drugs, and toxins. However, he can still suffer the immediate effects of such substances in massive quantities; he has been shown to become intoxicated after significant amounts of alcohol, and has been incapacitated on several occasions with large amounts of powerful drugs and poisons.

While the adamantium in his body stops or reduces many injuries, his healing factor must also work constantly to prevent metal poisoning from killing him, though it is effectively getting worse.

His healing factor also dramatically affects his aging process, allowing him to live far beyond the normal lifespan of a human. Despite being born in the late 19th century, he has the appearance, conditioning, health, and vitality of a man in his physical prime. While seemingly ageless, it is unknown exactly how greatly his healing factor extends his life expectancy.

Although his body heals, the healing factor does not suppress the pain he endures while injured. Logan also admits to feeling phantom pains for weeks or months after healing from his injuries. He does not enjoy being hurt and sometimes has to work himself up for situations where extreme pain is certain. Logan, on occasion, has deliberately injured himself or allowed himself to be injured for varying reasons, including freeing himself from capture, intimidation, strategy or simply indulging his feral nature. His healing abilities can provide increased recovery from psychological trauma by suppressing memories in which he experiences profound distress. Scratches heal within seconds, burns and cuts a few seconds more. Even bullet holes only take a matter of minutes to heal up completely, and all without a single scar to show for the pain he had been put through on a number of occasions.

Logan's mutation also consists of animal-like adaptations of his body, including pronounced, and sharp fang-like canines and three retractable claws housed within each forearm. These claws are a natural part of his body and are not made of keratin, as claws tend to be in the animal kingdom, but extremely dense bone. Logan's hands do not have openings for the claws to move through: they cut through his flesh every time he extrudes them, feeling a brief moment of slight pain in his hands whenever he unsheathes them.

Logan's senses of sight, smell, and hearing are all superhumanly acute. He can see with perfect clarity at greater distances than an ordinary human, even in near-total darkness. His hearing is enhanced in a similar manner, allowing him to both hear sounds ordinary humans cannot and also hear to greater distances. Logan is able to use his sense of smell to track targets by scent, even if the scent has been eroded somewhat over time by natural factors. This sense also allows him to identify shapeshifting mutants despite other forms they may take. He is also able to use his senses of smell and hearing, through concentration, as a type of natural lie detector, such as detecting a faint change in a person's heartbeat and scent due to perspiration when a lie is told.

Due to his skeletal coating, his claws can cut almost any known solid material, including most metals, wood, and some varieties of stone. The only known exceptions are adamantium itself and Captain America's shield, which is made out of an proto-adamantium-vibranium alloy. Wolverine's ability to slice completely through a substance depends upon both the amount of force he can exert and the thickness of the substance. His claws can also be used to block attacks or projectiles, as well as dig into surfaces allowing Wolverine to climb structures. The adamantium also weights his blows, increasing the effectiveness of his offensive capabilities. Unfortunately, his adamantium skeleton makes him highly susceptible to magnetic-based attacks.

Logan's healing factor also affects a number of his physical attributes by increasing them to superhuman levels. His stamina is sufficiently heightened to the point he can exert himself for numerous hours, even after exposure to powerful tranquilizers. Logan's agility and reflexes are also enhanced to levels that are beyond the physical limits of the finest human athlete. Due to his healing factor's constant regenerative qualities, he can push his muscles beyond the limits of the human body without injury. This, coupled by the constant demand placed on his muscles by over one hundred pounds of adamantium, grants him some degree of superhuman strength. Since the presence of the adamantium negates the natural structural limits of his bones, he can lift or move weight that would otherwise damage a human skeleton. He has been known to break steel chains, lift several men above his head with one arm and throw them through a wall and hauling a concert grand piano, which can weigh as much as 1,300 pounds, and the platform it rests on, via a harness, while climbing a sheer cliff.

During his time in Japan and other countries, Wolverine becomes a master of virtually all forms of martial arts and is experienced in virtually every fighting style on Earth. He is proficient with most weaponry, including firearms, though he is partial to bladed weapons. Personality Traits
Logan will sometimes lapse into a "berserker rage" while in close combat. In this state he lashes out with the intensity and aggression of an enraged animal and is even more resistant to psionic attack. Though he loathes it, he acknowledges that it has saved his life many times, it being most notably useful when he faces those with telepathic abilities, liking to keep his own thoughts to himself. Despite his apparent ease at taking lives, he does not enjoy killing or giving in to his berserker rages. Logan adheres to a firm code of personal honor and morality.

In contrast to his brutish nature, Wolverine is extremely knowledgeable. Due to his increased lifespan, he has traveled around the world and amassed extensive knowledge of foreign languages and cultures. Much to Professor Xavier's disapproval, Wolverine is also a heavy drinker and smoker; his healing powers negate the long-term effects of alcohol and tobacco and allow him to indulge in prolonged binges.

Logan is frequently depicted as a gruff loner, often taking leave from the X-Men to deal with personal issues or problems. He is often irreverent and rebellious towards authority figures, though he is a reliable ally and capable leader. He has been a mentor and father figure to several younger women, especially Yukiko, and has had romantic relationships with numerous women, though somehow always seeming to be 'in between girlfriends.'

Backstory:
Born in 1880 in a small town in Canada as James Howlette to rich farmers, Logan led a very comfortable life for the majority of his childhood. Then, one day, out of anger from being fired, Thomas Logan the previous groundskeeper, came to the farm and killed James' father. Furious, bone claws emerged from James' hands for the first time in his life and with an uncontrollable rage, killed Thomas by plunging his claws into Thomas' chest who upon dying, told James the truth that he was his real father. With the secret now brought to the front, James was cast out by his mother who James' learned a few years later when he came back, killed herself out of grief. He ran away with his childhood friend, Rose, and steadily grew into a man by taking up a job in a mining colony in the Yukon Territory, taking the name 'Logan' in honor of his real father.

After a slight incident that involved killing Rose with his claws, Logan once again was forced into running and for a couple of years lived with the wolves until returning to civilization, taking up residency with the Blackfoot Indians. It was here that he fell in love with an Indian woman, Silver Fox who died at the hands of Sabretooth who Logan then found out to be his older brother, Victor, whom he had never known. To escape his inner pain, Logan enlisted himself for World War 1, proving to be quite the combatant for reasons unknown, and unquestioned by his country. After the war, Logan spent some time in Japan where he became somewhat of an idol for the Yakuza, though working under-cover to help those who had been imprisoned by them. It was here that Logan met a good number of families forced into the Yakuza's bidding, namely the Masuyo family whom he lived with for a number of years and became a sort of brother figure to the youngest and only female, Yukiko.

However, after a handful of years World War 2 came around, and silently as though not to alarm the Yakuza, Logan left to help out where he could, serving no side but his own in what he felt was right in his heart. When it was over he resided in the United States where he was later approached by some men who pho promised to help him become a better mutant. Trusting these men, not having any reason not to, Logan went with them only to have his entire bone-structure remade out of adamantium, a metal that is virtually indestructible.

After learning that these men only wanted to use him as a weapon and to wipe his memory, Logan escaped, though not without massive bloodshed on his part. Once more alone, it was then that Charles Xavier found him, implying that he had a job for him and after a good amount of work done on him by Xavier, Logan grew to trust him and agreed to help with his cause. Logan hasn't been back to Japan since, but has kept secret ties with a couple of families, hoping to bring them over to the United States where they could be free of the Yakuza.

Other:
Logan has been involved in a couple handfuls of different wars over the years. Starting with World War I, Logan has since been involved in the Russian Civil War and World War II.

After returning from World War II, Logan went out and bought himself a 1932 DKW Block 350 Motorcycle to make it easier to travel between Charles and Erik's bar and his own log cabin that he built himself in an isolated part of the woods while Erik and Logan restored the bar. He didn't care much for the idea of room mates.

Although it rarely happens, sometimes Logan's body will completely shut down on him after a pulse of excruciating pain that will eventually render him unconscious. Unknown to everyone including Logan, this is because of the metal poisoning within his system that his body is slowly starting to reject.

Unlike most who are forced into surviving on their own, Jean is not a natural born healer, becoming quite squeamish and reluctant when it comes to tending her own and the wounds of others around her, instead choosing to focus on things that she deems more important such as expanding her knowledge base by reading. Nevertheless, she knows the basics of first aid, including how to clean and dress a wound to keep it from getting infected and in turn the person getting worse over time.

A fiercely determined and resourceful fighter, Jean is easily underestimated by those who stand against her and almost always finds herself in some sort of disagreement with those in positions of authority, using her own resources when it comes to getting through life, showing that she has the true instincts of a survivor. Though seeming confident and calm in most situations she is forced into, Jean has a nasty habit of biting her nails whenever she gets nervous or anxious, sometimes having to force and consciously stop herself from doing so when she is in the company of others.

Skills: An extremely intelligent young woman, Jean has a knack for researching, able to recall almost every piece of information that she has ever read. Biography:
Born as the youngest child to a well-off and quite wealthy family, Jean was always lavished in the best that money could buy, the child rarely hearing the word "no" being uttered from her parents lips when it came to something that she wanted. Although raised to be nothing more than a proper young lady by her parents, growing up under the watch and care of her older brother Jean learned from a young age that she would need to learn how to look after and defend herself, both teachings helping her to grow into both a beautiful and confident young woman. Wanting to do her best in what she knew and make her family proud of the woman in which she was slowly becoming, Jean threw herself into her studies, pushing herself and working hard to pick up the many lessons that her mother believed would help her to lead a full and happy life in the future.

With news of the ongoing war looming ever closer to American soil, Jean watched as the men she had grown up around were one by one called to take arms and fight for the freedom of their country; the inevitable arrival of two letters to their family home, one for her brother and the other for her father caused the family to part ways with grief, a heaviness in their hearts with all knowing the potential outcome, but none wishing to speak it out loud. This was goodbye. Going with them to the train station, the young girl and her mother waved both the father and son farewell, wishing them a safe return while they themselves reluctantly boarded a train bound for the country fulfilling their promise of remain safe and sound in the company of her aunt and away from any potential threats that could harm them at their family home in the city.

Moving into her aunt's home in the countryside, Jean tried her best to take on more of the responsibilities at home, allowing her mother a well-deserved break from having to worry about her daughters care and well-being while still feeling the stress and worry for the son and husband that had been torn out of their lives. Growing into a beautiful young teenager, Jean did all she could to keep her head down and to stay out of trouble, the sweet and charming young woman always seeming to be found in a nice quiet corner of the house with her nose in a book when there was nothing else that could be done; the only true thing able to excite her or giving her any sense of joy being the letters that managed to come for her from her brother on the battlefield.

As the years began to wear on and the war becoming more and more dangerous with each moment that passed by, the thought of her usual monthly correspondence from her brother and father had Jean rushing home, the anticipation and excitement of once more being able to hear from them keeping the young woman sane with the knowledge that they were safe. Arriving with the hopes of receiving yet another letter from her brother to add to her collection, Jean instead found her heart breaking apart, her grief weighing down over her shoulders as instead the letter contained a brief condolence and explanation to the passing of her brother who had fallen in battle. Feeling a sharp and excruciating pain shooting through her very being at the thought of never being able to see him again, Jean quickly began to break down, her mental stability failing long enough for what seemed to be a small switch somewhere in the back of her mind to flick over, her emotions tipping her over the edge causing objects of all sizes around the room to shake violently before eventually shattering leaving shards and remnants of different materials littering the room around them.

Both surprised and fearful of what they had both witnessed the young woman do before their very eyes, Jean's aunt quickly set to work in taking over the child's life when her mother instead turned to the bottle to cope with the abnormality of her daughter, keeping Jean locked away in the confines of the family home so that she could further the girls education, while keeping her out of the sight and company of those that would tarnish the family name should they ever find out. Through the months of trying to come to terms with the death of her brother and the strange things she was able to do as well as the constant pushing and stressful torment of both her aunt and mother, Jean began to pull away from those that were still in her life, a hatred growing within her heart as she began resenting the hand in which she had been dealt.

Suffering in silence for the most part while at other times lashing out and causing her powers to once again flair out of control, Jean took the abuse and slight violent battery that her aunt continued to provided to her, the girl over time not caring as to anyone saw the abuse that she had gone through due to her strange and unexplainable tendencies. The constant brutality along with her now slightly hardened personality causing her to pull herself further and further away from them, their actions causing her to lash out more and more until they chose to lock her away in the isolation that was her room, the two of them not knowing what else to do with her... Until he showed up.

Introducing himself as Charles Xavier, a man with the power to help her control her abilities as well as give her a place in which she could live among others who were also special like her, Jean quickly jumped at the opportunity to leave the home which had over the years become her prison. Now existing contently among those who share the mutant gene with her, Jean had found a happy medium between who she used to be and who she is now, the bright young woman only doing what she is asked and which she is required to do in order to keep herself out of trouble.

    • Mental Sedating - Jean can telepathically ‘sedate’ her victims so that, if already rendered unconscious, they remain so for as long as she chooses to keep them in their sedated state.
    • Neural Jumpstart - Jean can increase the speed of the neural signals in the brain, allowing her to be able to increase another mutants powers to vastly incredible levels, however the effects are only temporary.
    • Dilate Power - Jean (much like Charles) has the ability to place ‘psychic inhibitors’ in the minds of other mutant adversaries, preventing them from being able to use their powers.
  • Telepathic Defense - Once unlocked with the rest of her potential, Jean can manifest her telepathy in a number of defensive ways.
    • Telepathic Cloak - Jean can mask her presence and the use of her abilities from being detected by other psions, and psychic entities; her powers allowing her to extend these defenses to other around her as well, however cloaking via telepathy is not perfect, and powerful psis may notice and ‘see’ through this particular ability.
    • Cloak Mind - Jean has the ability to rearrange the ‘mental engrams’ of mutants so that their distinctive mutant thought patterns cannot be detected by Cerebro-type devices, or by other telepaths.
  • Telepathic Illusions - Jean is able to create realistic telepathic illusions, and is able to cause others to experience events in which are not actually occurring.
    • Telepathic Camouflage - Jean is able to alter the apparent physical appearance of both herself and others by altering the perceptions of those around her; this can go so far as to make other people believe that the camouflaged people are not even there (invisible)- the only limit, if one seems to exit, is only imposed by the number of people she is attempting to fool, not the number of people she is camouflaging.
  • Psionic Blasts - Once unlocked with the rest of her potential, Jean will be able to use her telepathic abilities to create psionic blasts which can induce unimaginable pain, knock out, or even kill the person in which it is directed towards.
  • Psionic Shield - Once unlocked with the rest of her potential, Jean's telepathic abilities are strong enough to allow her to create a telepathic shield to prevent not only her mind, but also others minds from being read, attacked, or even detected by those who would be able to sense them.
  • Asteral Projection - Able to project her astral form from her body, and onto the astral planes or the physical planes- in the physical plane, Jean is able to travel over vast distances while in her astral form, however in the astral plane, she is able to mentally create psionic objects and manipulate the aspects of her environment. Also able to communicate with others, Jean is able to contact them through her own will, or with the thoughts and memories of the other person.
  • Mental Detection - Though not as strong as others who share in this ability, Jean is able to sense the presence of another superhuman mutant within a small, but as yet undefined radius of herself by perceiving the distinctive mental radiations emitted by such a being.
  • Psionic Firebird – Strong enough to be able to physically manifest her telepathy, Jean is able to meld it into taking the shape of a psionic firebird whose claws are able to inflict both physical, and mental damage onto her victims.


Phoenix Force - Along with both her telekinetic and telepathic powers, Jean also has the exceedingly strong ability to control and wield the phoenix force; a cosmic entity which embodies both creation and destruction, and derives its power from those who are yet unborn- while an entity of itself, the phoenix force believes Jean to be its ‘host, body and self’, and as such gives her vast Psionic abilities which allow her to manipulate not only time, but also space, matter and energy for virtually any purpose. Alongside these abilities, Phoenix (Jean) is also able to revive, absorb, re-channel and also preserve any kind of life-form as the Phoenix is the sum of all life-force.

Giving a significant boost to her mental abilities, and allowing her to rearrange matter at a molecular level; when acting as the Phoenix, Jean is able to fly unaided through space, and to create intense heat and thermal energy by stimulating molecular activity to create fire, flames, and concussive blasts- able to create fire under almost any condition, including while submerged in deep water, and able to manipulate thermal energy in her vicinity; Jean can also manipulate the voluntary and involuntary responses in the human body.

The Phoenix Force also allows for her to hold the power to control the whole universe as the ‘One-True Phoenix’, which allows her to change the very future of the universe with her infinite power.

*Once the Phoenix Force is no longer laying dormant, and Jean is able to access and use her Phoenix abilities to their fullest extent, she will also have the ability to use:

  • Cosmic Pyrokinesis - Once unlocked with the rest of her potential, and after completely giving herself over to the Phoenix Force, Jean will be able to create both cosmic fire and flames at will; a rare ability known as Cosmic Pyrokinesis, which allows her to be able to not only create, but to also control and manipulate cosmic fire- a fire which is not dependent upon oxygen- derived from her ability to manipulate matter at an atomic level (which allows her to generate intense heat, combustion and concussive blasts by stimulating heat molecules, or simply from her access to cosmic energy, or by combining both powers at once to create more powerful flames), Jean’s cosmic fire is different from flames that are usually created by common Pyrokinesis due to the fact that they are not dependent on oxygen, meaning that she is able to create these flames under seemingly impossible conditions like being underwater, or even in the vacuum of space. Usually manifesting itself in the shape of a large fiery bird (a phoenix); Jean, once able to control her abilities, will have complete control over her fire, and can manipulate it into whichever shape she wishes, whether it be a fireball, fiery claws, or even the appearance of an ordinary fire- the pain caused by her cosmic fire ranging from mental to physical, and on the occasion, both. Although her cosmic fire (particularly when the Phoenix) is powerful enough to destroy entire galaxies, Jean’s control over it (once she has mastered her powers), is so complete that it is only able to harm what she chooses it to; thus, her cosmic fire will burn her enemies until they either die, or until she extinguishes it by her own volition.
  • Telekinetic Sensitivity - Once unlocked with the rest of her potential, Jean's Phoenix Force will allow her the ability to feel the texture of objects that she has a telekinetic hold over, to feel when other objects come into contact with them, and to probe them at a molecular level so that she s able to identify whether or not they contain alien materials, or feel when two things which she has a telekinetic hold over are similarly composed.
  • Resurrection - On any given time that Jean dies, the Phoenix Force will ultimately resurrect her- sometimes this resurrection is instantaneous, and at other times she spends time within the ‘White Hot Room’ doing ‘Phoenix Work’. If she dies, the Phoenix Force will automatically create a telekinetic cocoon around her body known as a ‘Phoenix Egg’; and while she is occupying the Phoenix Egg, the egg will grow exceedingly hot to the touch. Along with being able to once more rise from the proverbial ashes, Jean is also capable of resurrecting others from death by reconstructing and repairing the damaged parts of the person’s body at a molecular level, before ensuring that both their internal and external organs are all places in the correct place physiologically, and are all in working order. Though it is unknown just how she is able to resurrect someone who has been dead for an extended period of time; the one being resurrected, once healed, simply seems to wake up from a rather dream-like state.
  • Pyro-Telekinesis - Once unlocked with the rest of her potential, Jean is able to move objects by increasing the heat around the object itself, using her fire to move the object.


~Other Information~


Other: Jean owns a beautiful heart-shaped locket which she is rarely ever seen without, this locket was given to her by her brother the day before he was drafted into the war; inside she keeps a picture of him so that she will never forget him and that she can hold him close to her heart. Jean also has a stack of old letters which she keeps locked away in the desk in her room, the letters written and sent to her by her brother while he was serving in the war.

Matter Manipulation
Yukiko, having just stumbled upon her power as she traveled to the United States from Japan, can manipulate matter. Currently she has only used this power once with turning a glass of water into nothing but an empty cup of air, as the hydrogen and one of the oxygen molecules were removed (scientifically speaking), but as she comes to understand her powers more (learning more about chemistry could definitely help), anything in the universe that has substance and mass/physical form can be manipulated into whatever it is she can understand and imagine. Of course, these abilities are limited by her knowledge, amount of concentration and mental strength.

Skills:
Yukiko was trained ever since she was able to walk in the art of stealth as well as how to wield blades of all types. As she got older, her more prominent skills were discovered and her training focused mainly on her acrobatics, small blade use, throwing ability (like throwing stars and other small, sharp objects) and stealth (along with that, flexibility from being forced to learn to navigate small areas). Amongst these, Yukiko has been trained in hand-to-hand combat and though not as skilled with it as she is with her other skills, she is able to hold her own against any normal fighter though her small stature almost forces her to keep unnoticed and ranged.

On top of that, Yukiko is fluent in three different languages: Japanese, as is her native tongue, as well as Mandarin and Russian. Her knowledge of other languages is very small, and English, perhaps, is her worst one.

Personality Traits:
Yukiko hardly speaks to anyone save for Logan. This doesn't just have to do with the fact that she doesn't understand a word of English, but she has always been quiet by nature, raised into knowing where her place is and will only speak up when she feels compelled to speak her mind.

Once you get to know her, however, Yukiko's other traits come out in her, revealing her to be firm in opinion, stubborn in her ways and prefers to do things on her own rather than in groups, having a hard time following anyone she does not deem worthy as a leader. She's a very independent spirit and exceptionally respectful towards those who have earned it as well as loyal to her culture and country. On the rare occasion when she feels completely relaxed and able to be herself, Yukiko is known to be a bit on the sassy side, but does indeed have a sense of humor hidden somewhere deep down.

Backstory:
From the very day that Yukiko was conceived, her fate was already written in stone. Youngest and only girl of six in the Masuyo family, Yukiko was brought up and raised in a family controlled by the Yakuza, a group of transnational organized crime syndicates in Japan. From the moment Yukiko started walking, training had begun, honing the small girl into a lethal weapon for the Yukuza’s own personal use. At first her missions consisted of small group missions with her older brothers as ‘debt collectors’, a little intimidation here and there; maybe someone lost a finger or two or a couple broken bones; but as the years went on her missions became more physical, daunting and brutal.

Strange enough as things were (though now considered normal to Yukiko) an American had moved in with Yukiko and her family. He was a friend of her father's, as she learned, and over the time that Logan spent with them, Yukiko and he formed a very close bond, perhaps a bond closer than she had with any of her family.

Yukiko first started questioning her family’s line of work when she was just thirteen years old and two of her brother’s had nearly exposed themselves in a mission they were working on together, and as penance they each had to remove the tip of their left little finger as was a customary ritual known as Yubitsume. As Yukiko sat there and watched her brothers disfigure themselves, her doubts began to climb and she made an effort to tread more carefully from then on. She always knew that failure would result in severe punishment, she just wasn't sure if she was able to accept just how the Yakuza went about it.

Three years later when Yukiko was sixteen, she had lost three out of the five of her brothers to the Yakuza whether it be by their own personal hand as punishment, or by getting killed serving them. Logan had also mysteriously vanished from their home, and Yukiko could only assume that he too was dead. It was during this time that Yukiko thought about wanting to escape the clutches of the Yakuza forever. The last act Yukiko ever did in Japan for the Yakuza happened on a cold November night. Suspicion of Yukiko's loyalty began to spread around the organization, and she was brought before one of the leaders of the Yakuza, Zurui. The room in which she was pulled into had about twenty or so other Yakuza members standing by for protection reasons, and in the center of the room was what looked like an ordinary man tied up to a wooden chair with a bag over his head.

Zurui assured Yukiko that the man hidden under the bag deserved his punishment, as he was found trying to profit for what it was that they did. Zurui handed Yukiko the sacrificial katana and she knew immediately that if she didn't do what she was told, she would surely die; but she had never taken a life before and was unsure if she could do so now. Her harsh upbringing however led Yukiko to take the katana from Zurui and the man was quickly untied from the chair and pushed before the sacrificial block. She had seen these sacrifices before, she grew up her whole life watching heads roll on the floor from the clean swipe of the katana. It was considered an honor to be the one to wield the blade, however Yukiko wanted no part in it. Despite being desensitized to blood and gore, the thought of taking one's life, despite what he may have done, did not set well with her.

Forcefully, Yukiko raised the katana, and with one clean swipe had beheaded the criminal; her first kill. But what surprised her even more then the rush of taking the life of another was when the bag hit the floor, the head of her very own father rolled out… the Yakuza had tricked her into killing her own father. Somehow managing to keep a brave face, Zurui informed the sixteen year old that Yukiko’s father had been suspected of working for some unknown organizations in America who aimed to take down the Yakuza and of course, must be stopped. Zurui then praised Yukiko for her lack of emotion during the 'test' and was promoted to a Yakuza assassin. As she left the room that day, she was warned that if she ever disobeyed, then what was left of her family would surely die in the most unpleasant way possible. She continued to do the bidding of the Yakuza for another year before Yukiko finally spotted her chance of getting out. An air raid.

People were being evacuated left and right; women and children being the first priority. Being mistaken as a 'normal' child, Yukiko was rounded up with some others her age and was immediately shipped off to one of their allied countries for safety. But Yukiko didn’t stop there. If her father had connections in America that aimed to stop the Yakuza, she knew then that it was America that she needed to be.

Sweet and charming, Syleste is an extremely loving and kind-hearted young woman who does her best to care for all those who are lucky enough to find themselves her friends, the dreamy-eyed girl showing her love and affection to all those close to her. Although a kind and graceful soul, Syleste is also known for being stubborn when it comes to something that she truly believes in, choosing to stand up for it rather than backing down once she has already made up her mind, usually making it near impossible to convince her otherwise. Quite mature and oddly grown-up for her age thanks to living her whole life with her disability, Syleste often does all she can not to be, or to be considered a "burden" to all those who are around her, the young woman doing everything she can and more to help out (cleaning, cooking, ect.), even sometimes choosing to put her own needs aside in favor of others, no matter how difficult the task may seem for her; the girl trying her best at everything and anything that she seems to set her mind to.

Coming across at times as being quietly confident and extremely calm, she sometimes tends to pull away from the company of others becoming very reserved and thoughtful, choosing instead to lose herself within her own mind and in her own little world. Unnaturally bright and unique in her own way, Syleste has the aptitude for thinking outside of the box on general occasion, always coming up with strange ideas that would normally otherwise be considered near impossible to pull off, though with the young woman's odd way of using her intelligence she is known for being able to twist them to the point of making it all work out.

Skills: Thanks to her disability, Syleste's other senses (hearing, smell, taste and touch) have become slightly more enhanced than that of a normal person, adding to her skills and talents when it comes to music, such as singing and playing piano. Syleste is also quite skilled when it comes to reading anything in braille, whether it be music sheets, books, or class notes.



Biography:
Blind from birth and constantly being moved around from place to place due to her fathers position in the army, Syleste was always a curious and outgoing young child, her mother (mostly having to raise her on her own) always did her best to keep her close by her side, however it never seemed to stop her from always managing to find her way into trouble. Growing into a beautiful young teenager and quickly coming to the realization that she didn't want to rely or be a burden on her mother, she tried her best, taking on more of the responsibilities at home and allowing her mother a break from stressing over her daughters care and well-being. Receiving the news early about his deployment, Syleste sat back, doing all she could to help around the home as her father said goodbye, kissing her on the forehead before the General left to be shipped out to where the war effort needed him most.

Closing off slightly to those who had accepted her for who she was, she began to spend more time within her family home, the young woman spending most of her time either working on the music her father had loved to hear her play or spending her time reading alone in her room. Feeling sick from missing her father for as long as she had, Syleste separated herself from her mother choosing instead to retire early rather than staying up in her company, slipping into a slumber unlike any other that she had experienced before, she found herself standing conscious in a world she had never seen before, the very confused and slightly fearful figure of her father standing with her. Realizing what his daughter had managed to do, her father quickly sent word back home informing her mother as to just how special their daughter truly was, and how she would have to take extra care with her from now on, being sure to take her special needs into consideration.

Slowly opening back up over time after getting to see her father throughout the night in her dreams, Syleste began to become the confident and sweet young lady her parents had always wanted her to become, however her mother's fear of others bullying her daughter for her disability, mixed with her fear of those finding out just how different she was soon became a reality as the young girl continued to bloom. Trying to get through each and every day without too much trouble, the bubbly young teenager could often be found sitting on her own reading or studying, though with her curiosity for life playing on her mind she never ceased to find a way to try and satisfy the need to explore much to her overly-cautious mother's disgust.

Receiving a phone call from a man saying that he could help out, Syleste's mother quickly realized that it wasn't going to be easy to keep their daughter safe, and for her to stay within the family home, her mother quickly jumping at the chance of being able to supply her with the hope of a safe and semi-normal life. Packing up all her possessions, the two of them worked together with the help of the man who had given them the offer, the two of them saying goodbye at the train station, the young girl set on her way to a place where she thought she would have a better chance at life with people who would finally accept her for who she was.

Dream walking/ manipulation - Syleste has the unique ability to enter a world she knows as "The Dream World", allowing her to slip in and out of the dreams of others, as well as allowing her to summon others into her own dreams. Along with this form of power, Syleste has also been able to master the ability to manipulate the dreams she see's around her, allowing her to bring both the sweetest of dreams to a person, as well as the most terrible of nightmares. Although with her gift also comes a terrible danger. While moving about the Dream World should a person, including herself get hurt, their injuries would transfer through the dreams before transferring to that persons physical body making this a dangerous form of magic that she very rarely chooses to use.

*This particular ability (mostly) only happens to work if the person contacting/ or being contacted by Syleste, is in the same country as she is in, it does not work across oceans; the only exception to this being if she has a strong bond with the person being contacted/ contacting her.


Sleep Manipulation - Along with her ability to manipulate and walk through the dream realm, Syleste also has the power to manipulate sleep within both herself and others around her, allowing her to not only induce and extract sleep from a person but to also manipulate and enhance all aspects of sleep itself.

*Though unaware of this particular ability, once Syleste is able access and use her sleep manipulation powers to their fullest extent, she will be able to use:

Other: Though she may seem confident and semi-competent when it comes to things she sets her mind to, Syleste has a fear of swimming and is terrified at the very thought of deep water, along with this fear she is also scared of being left alone, and being treated differently due to her disability.

While quite talented in both singing and playing the piano, Syleste has found that she is more confident with her skills when she is on her own or with someone she is extremely close to, the young girl too shy and embarrassed to show her musical talents to others.

Understanding that people can become quite uncomfortable with her disability, Syleste keeps a bit of light blue and black material with her which she uses to hide her eyes from view, not wanting others to have to deal with the strange look of her eyes.

Abilities: Emotion Inducement/Emotional Energy Manipulation

Darlene has the unique gift of being able to induce emotions in others. She uses a form of influence that, from what we gather, by just thinking it, but we also feel her gaze plays into that effect. The target goes through the emotion Darlene warrants and, depending on her choice, it can overtake them or it can be a brief period of time. These emotions range from anger to sadness, from self-doubt to love.

Darlene is also able to manipulate the emotional energy from others. From studying her, we can deduce that she absorbs the emotional energy and transfers it into her own choosing. A brief demonstration showed she is able to form small spheres of emotional energy that she is able to throw, she can form a shield to protect herself, and she can form a beam. We imagine she is able to do more with her powers, but may need the guidance and practice. It should also be noted that, depending on the emotion, the color of her power changes. We only saw two, anger and sadness. Anger was red and sadness was blue. We'll need more tests to determine what other emotions' colors would be.


Skills: Darlene has no formal combat training and it is our recommendation she learn to defend herself. However, Darlene does posess a high intellect that surpasses many others in her class. She excels in a variety of subjects, such as math, science, and history. She has done very well in school, so well to garner attention from her professors and got offers from a few universities hoping she would attend. It is unclear what her interest would have been.

Darlene is also a skilled gymnast, having taken many courses growing up and was on her schools gymnastics team. She has helped the team win many championships. She has great balance and mobility.


Personal Information


Personality: Darlene is by all accounts an outgoing, confident young woman. She is well-liked by others and no one has a bad word to say about her (though with Darlene's gifts, this may need to be explored a bit more). She is friendly and caring towards others, but she does have a vain side and likes to keep up her appearance. She doesn't like to remain quiet, often voices her opinions, and is behind women getting equal rights to their male counterparts. She is often looked down upon for her gender, but she believes she can keep up in a man's world if given the opportunity to do so.


Backstory: Darlene is the youngest of her family. With 3 older brothers, she ended up being her father's light and he doted on her. Darlene wanted for nothing growing up. Even as a child, she was adventurous and wanted to play with her brothers whenever they went outside or wanted to ride their bikes, but her father and mother told her she had to play inside. Darlene would occasionally sneak out to play with the other kids in the neighborhood and quickly became friends with her next door neighbor, Molly. The two hung out for years and the families became close as a result.

It wasn't until she was 12 years old that Darlene's powers started to manifest. Unaware of this fact, an argument with Molly set the events in motion. Darlene managed to get Molly so angry that she "exploded" in anger to the point that no one could calm her down. Anger turned to hysteria and Molly had to be taken to the hospital, where she eventually was calmed down. Darlene didn't put two and two together until she tried the same thing with her youngest older brother, who she managed to make extremely sad with nothing but her own thought.

Darlene didn't quite know what to do, so she kept her powers hidden and tried to go through life as normal as possible. In times of great duress, however, she unwillingly unleashed her powers on others, such as when she was bullied when she was 13 and caused her attackers to run screaming in fear over nothing. Darlene decided that her gifts were trouble if not controlled, so she practiced controlling her own emotions and quickly adapted to controlling others. She did this throughout school, allowing some leeway, but for the most part she used her gifts sparingly.

It wasn't until she was almost into her senior year that she got the call from an unknown man, telling her he knew about her gifts and offered her a place to practice them and use them for something greater than she could have anticipated. Both excited and afraid at this idea, she accepted the help. She lied to her parents and said she got paid term at a prestigious boarding school that would continue her studies and allow her the freedom to go on from there. Her parents were afraid, but she quickly calmed them down and they allowed her to attend. They packed up her things and whisked her away to her new home. They parted ways at the stop the man on the phone told her to come to. Her future was about to start.

Falcon Vision

Alan has the ability to instinctively sense how people and objects relate to him, manifesting as a colored glow much like an aura that makes it easy for him to see. Red indicates someone he deems as a threat, or if blood has been spilled. Blue indicates someone Alan sees as an ally; someone he can trust. White indicates sources where Alan can get information he is currently seeking or a good place for him to hide for a few moments if the need should ever arise. Though Alan has only just started "seeing" the world this way, he still has yet to understand what any of the colors mean and is unable to concentrate on them long enough to even know if what he is seeing is actually there or some sort of hallucination, leaving him with a migrane-level headache. Though as he exercises his abilities, Alan will be able to turn this ability on and off, understand their meaning and be able to use them to their full potential.

These colors are prone to change, however, as situations and Alan's personal bias towards what is going on also changes, therefore someone he sees as an ally could potentially turn to someone he sees as a threat, and so on.

Eventually, this power will "evolve" into a more advanced outlook for Alan to understand, making each of his senses more sensitive. This will allow Alan to be able to detect the heartbeat of a concentrated individual in a specific perimeter to him and even be able to forsee a gold path that the person he is concentrating on will be taking up to fifty yards at a time. With this, Alan will also be able to inversely "see" where they have been. This is particularly helpful when tailing someone or detecting the path an enemy would take in order to set up a trap or lay an ambush, or to check out an area they have been to search for items or information needed. At his full potential Alan will be able to pick up cold trails or locate disguised enemies (including shape shifters) which appear red to him, however with this more heightened ability, it causes Alan to concentrate harder and scrutinize people individually rather than in a crowd, once more leaving him with a blinding headache that can last for hours at a time.

In a more bizarre turn of events, this ability will also grant Alan the unwanted ability to peer into the memories of a person dying should he be touching them during their time of death, even if it is by his own hand.

Flight

Though not developed yet, Alan will eventually have the ability to fly, once his wings break through. This will allow him to soar the skies at the height most birds can and maneuver through the air with the greatest of ease. The wings will allow him to gain elevation, dive-bomb, glide, descend and so on. The wings themselves are very fragile and susceptible to damage if ever in close-range combat. It is because of this that Alan will have to learn how to retract the wings back into his body, if not just for the sake of looking normal again.

Skills

Alan's bones are a lot less dense than normal bones. They are extremely porous and the larger, thicker bones even have a sort of hollowness to them. This makes Alan much lighter than how he looks, allowing him to jump higher and further than the average human, making vaulting over objects and climbing a cinch for the youth. His years as an acrobatic performer helped to fine-tune these skills so that he is able to use them to precision - able to jump from one object to another with varying size and stability.

His acrobatic skills also gave him the art of timing, able to calculate jumps and honed his reflexes into something superior to avoid injury. Tightrope walking and the trapeze being his two main events, he learned these very quickly and has only gotten better and more fluid in his movements as a performer.

Personality Traits

Alan has a very positive outlook on life and is generally a very easy-going kind of guy. Having been subjected to a rather poor lifestyle, constantly surrounded by the smell of shit and sweaty bodies, Alan has always taken the little things in life for full value. The smell of a flower, the feeling of a gentle breeze rolling over his skin, the soft touch of a woman...

Most of his (male) companions in the circus poke a bit of fun at him for being overly sensitive, but Alan's thick skin and playful personality doesn't take their teasing negatively, though in the more quiet times in his life, he does wonder if perhaps they might be right.

He's got a very adventurous spirit about him, always wanting to make each show he does different and more exciting and while it can be dangerous, Alan finds that he practically craves the adrenaline rush he gets at the very idea that injury could very much be a thing. This makes him a bit reckless at times though at face-value, Alan tends to be more calm and calculated on the outside.

Alan was born and raised into a family deep into the traveling circus business, and was raised in the carny lifestyle. As a kid, Alan was tasked with caring and cleaning up after the animals though eventually worked his way up to aerial acrobatics. His parents were amazed at just how natural Alan acted when it came to heights. Even when the trapeze artists tried to discourage the young boy from the dangerous act by having him join them in practice, including jumps (with a safety net), twists, grabs and so on, Alan only grew to love the sport even more. So in the air he stayed and as he grew older, became one of the most famous aerial acrobats.

The nickname "Horus" was given to him by his fellow trapeze group, joking about how he was a "God" of aerial acrobatics, and eventually fashioned him a skin-tight jumpsuit with the emblem of a falcon in the middle. Alan went with the jest, finding the humor in it himself and found himself rather liking the nickname.

As he grew from a youth into a man, strange things began to happen. So strange, in fact, during the middle of a show, Alan's vision blurred for a few moments as he was jumping from one trapeze to another, and then suddenly there were flashes of colors he didn't quite understand. His partner that was supposed to catch him turned blue, there was a glint of gold in his peripheral vision, the crowd became a muddied mess of blue. He could hear heartbeats, hundreds at a time. It all happened in a split second, but it was enough to throw him off balance in his jump and ended up missing his partners hands, falling into the safety net below. That in itself had been humiliating, and after trying to explain what had happened to his friends and parents, they shrugged it off as some sort of "you need more sleep."

But the colors kept coming after that. It was only every once in a while, mostly in the most inconvenient of times. Though, having grown up with contortionists, the bearded lady, men who stab themselves with needles and swords without shedding blood, fire-eaters and clowns, Alan then just decided that what he was going through was normal for the circus life, no longer wanting to make a big deal about it. Unfortunately, it was hindering his work as an acrobat.

He was about ready to ask his parents if he could take a break from his duties for a while when a man approached him, claiming to know how he was feeling. The man introduced himself as Charles Xavier and after a bit of convincing to hear the man out, Charles explained to Alan that though he was already different by living with circus people, he was even more different, classifying him as a mutant. Charles then further demonstrated his own mutant powers by speaking into Alan's head through telepathy - something he had never encountered before even in the circus. It was impossible to pin it as some sort of street-show that he had been accustomed to. After getting his attention, Charles then explained to him a school that he and two other mutants were building up for people like him; to not only provide education but knowledge and understanding of the powers they had been gifted with. Figuring it was the only way he was going to get answers, Alan decided to leave his family and friends behind to embark on a new journey - a life outside the circus tent and smelly, crowded trailers.

Other:

When his abilities start up randomly, or he tries to use them, Alan is almost always overcome by a searing headache that forces his body to shut down. This most often leaves him breathless and in agony, but is able to sleep it off after a few hours or take some pain medication (though this method rarely works) but there have been instances where the pain has reduced him to sudden blackouts that can last up to thirty minutes.

Alan also has random spurts of pain that shoot through his back. Believing it to be some injury related to his career as an acrobat, he doesn't give it much thought though plans on seeing a physician about it in the near future if it persists.

He also smokes occasionally. The carny life has exposed him to tobacco products quite early and took up the habit when he was only sixteen years old. He's far from a pack a day kind of guy, but after a good, long, hard day, he likes to wind down with a good smoke and simply relax both his mind and body.

Alex is more or less the same as your average day young adult, with a dash of a little more responsibility which people wouldn't expect from this man. Being a fairly average in the area of academics while he was in high school from what it looked like to his peers, he aced every test with little problem but homework and similar things were left undone which balanced themselves out. As Alex spent more of his time being more involved in things like sports mostly with the jocks or participating in school plays occasionally with the quirky group. Excelling in sports during his years in school, with various athletic activities like wrestling, football, soccer and volleyball. In terms of combat, Alex may not have formally been trained in any fighting technique or style but he has been in his own pocketful of tustles and ruffles with others so he knows how to handle himself. Along with his time in high school as a wrestler, he incorporates what he remembers into his fighting when he can to take down his opponents. Using his youth and athleticism give him the edge in fighting, with his honed body and instincts from sports be used. He was accepted into many different schools despite applying for them as a non-athlete, and when he did apply as one his acceptance rate only increased from other universities as well.

Outside of activities that he did for school, he was a fairly competent pianist which he learned throughout his childhood and occasionally continued to play during his teenage years. However, due to his situation at home worsening he has been picking up a lot of slack for himself since then so that he can handle more important things. With advice from his dying mother, he began preparing himself to be the next man of the house should his father not come back and ready himself with the skills he would need. Learning and eventually becoming a talented cook for handling his own meals every day and his roommates back then. While also being financially savvy as he learned quickly how to count money or face being thrown out into the streets with a bonus of a shot of maturity to go along with it. Learning how to function like an adult a long time ago when the reality of life was approaching on the horizon before it came knocking on his door. Spreading his range of influence as well by connecting with a variety of people during school, he just barely made it through the initial worries of the Great Depression with a tight but manageable budget.

Alex's mutant powers are very simple to explain, it can all be summed up as the potential to become smarter than the limits of what mankind could ever achieve and even further which is the vast potential of his powers. It is not the most visible or noticeable of mutant powers as it can easily be missed but if one is looking with a fine comb it can be noticed. A more biological explanation would be that his mutant abilities allow his brain to more efficiently work at processing information, recording them and recalling them along with being able to comprehend multiple subjects at the same time with no loss in efficiency in any topics. After this part, his mutant powers delve into the stranger side of things as with his abilities he can begin tapping into controlling his own brain and in extension his body as well. With some control and concentration, he is capable of being able to numb or even entirely block out the pain from nerves if he wished or manually inducing an adrenaline rush in his body should the opportunity call for it. It can also be possible of slowing down the perception of time for himself by accelerating how fast he wishes his brain to receive information thus it down. However, due to the nature of his powers, a large amount of food is needed to sustain his brain or possibly risk the shutdown of his body through the lack of sustenance as he burns through much more energy than regular humans.

As his powers continue to develop his intelligence and self-awareness of his own body will grow to points where he reigns a large portion of his body freely. With the advancement in his powers, the control that he will have over his body will be significant as it will be possible for him to mentally control his cells for a variety of things. A few to list are such as regeneration through controlling himself at the cellular level and heal faster and even possibly shapeshift into a variety of appearances. Through this advance control of his own cells, the prolongment of life is possible to a possible indefinite amount of time from simply aging. However, outside of this bodily manipulation, his ability to intake and output knowledge would be intimidating, to say the least, but the amount of fuel to put into his body with the possibility of abilities would be notable to allow the body to function healthily. With the amount of substance increasing depending on how intense he uses his powers beyond normal.

Alex's personality is a jumble of things as it will always be molding itself to fit into the cookie cutter tin that the situation presents itself. Shaping himself to fit what the other people expect and think of him, his personality is always changing from a group to group basis. It is what everyone does, but Alex just puts more thought into than most people would normally do. Being a popular jock with sports to being a surprisingly weird person for the quirky group or even being a surprisingly artistic person. His personality is always shifting to fit the situation as best as it can, making him unpredictable in the center of the storm that is Alex himself. With many sides of Alex that is revealed but never all at the same time, just a piece here or there to reveal a part of himself.

In the most default state that Alex could possibly get is being an outgoing person naturally who likes to talk to people. Being very social, he talks with a certain appeal to it and always responds appropriately with a charming laugh for a cracked joke or an infectious smile for something else. It gives him the appearance of a confident person and an intimidating air around him yet still appealing for some reason. His nature which is almost considered joyful if not pleasant which is infectious to others, a flower almost to watch and smell but never to touch for its thorns.

Born 1925

Alex was born into his family as the second born son, the youngest and the baby of his family with an older brother who was about a good five years older than him. Growing up in a relatively normal childhood he made friends, played around with the other children and went to school like any other kid. His absence of his father was notable for leaving to join the army to support the family, mainly for the medical bills that their mom had due to her medical condition. On occasion, however, Alex still saw him on his brief but enjoyable visits before going back. Still, it wasn't too bad being raised most of the time by his mother and his older brother, he still grew up to be a respectable boy who entered school as a charming boy. However, this shaky family structure would not last long as the Second World War began and his father joined many of the others that were in the front line. That was when the visits ended and the last time he saw his father, the letters soon would stop as well and when the two soldiers came to the door their mother ushered them to their two rooms while the three would talk. Sobbing could be heard from the other room, as his brother Joshua could be heard talking as well trying to comfort her.

After the visit, his mother began telling him that he will need to pick up some of the weight in the household now that their father was gone and he understood what he had to do. Along with further prompting with an ominous warning from his brother Joshua that Alex would need to prepare to become the next man in the household should anything happen to Joshua himself. He matured quickly as he began to pick up his academic grades and excel in school and even getting a job on the side like his brother to support the family as well. Everything then returned to an uneasy calm that left an awkward feeling around the house, but they all managed to get through it somehow.

It was during this period of stress that his mutant abilities subtly awoke themselves with seemingly no noticeable change from Alex. While it wasn't exactly a visible power, he began to simply notice himself paying attention to a variety of things more than ever before. Causing him to develop a sense of self-consciousness from the duties that were being carried on his back as he perceived the entirety of events in his life. Nervous breakdowns were a common event for Alex which he hid from his friends and especially his family as he planned vigorously for the future.

However, it still was not enough to support the treatments for their mother and living expenses as well with the money they were making at this rate. Despite the hard effort by his brother and himself, they couldn't make due from their meager wages and their sick mom not being able to anything but rest. So by the 2nd year in High School, his brother joined the army and began sending the money home despite the combined protest from Alex himself and his mother. Now it just his mother and Alex now living in the relatively empty house. The burden of the house now being carried on his back was immense as Alex would be the column that supports their life at home.

The pressure of juggling school, sports, and life at home took a toll on his mind as he slowly broke down with the onslaught of maturity hitting him, despite preparing for it. Stacked along with the deteriorating condition of his mother, the event horizon approached as soon she grew deathly ill. As on his senior year, it was the time that his mother finally let go and passed away at the start of the school year from her cancer that took her away. It was now just Alex alone at home, as his brother was still alive but on the front lines now fighting patriotically for their country than simply money. The money from his brother was directed to him now as he used it to support himself for a short time before he found two other roommates to pay a portion of money for the bills on the house. After sorting out various problems, life began aligning itself and the seas began to settle as Alex focused his resolve on graduating.

And so, Alex graduated with his classmates of the same year as he with a rough start to the year, he still had memories of school which would be cherished as he went into college. Earning a scholarship for being an athlete for a University, his tuition was covered for as long as he didn't mess anything up. Quickly starting college as soon as he could, it looked like everything would be but by uncanny coincidence. during his first few years of college, something shook the confines of his world again. A lecturer by the names of Charles Xavier tapped on the glass that would be better left undisturbed. Convincing him that he was indeed special as the scientist claimed that he was along with a few feats from the other, he reluctantly accepted his proposition.

-“Probability Manipulation”-
Sebastian is able to innately manipulate the probability of events occurring within his line of sight, what was originally just thought to be a long running streak of immense good luck has been discovered by Sebastian to be the mutation he had developed at a young age. Sebastian has so far only used his mutation to create parlour tricks such as cards shuffling to where he needs them to be, coins will land on what he needs and occasionally cheating at poker. When necessary and under immense stress, Sebastian has been able to extend his manipulation to larger scale effects; an assailant tripped on his own feet, a car exploded, guns jamming and so forth. Though these require a high amount of concentration, Sebastian is quite happy to continue with his little tricks.

Skills:
A charming, silver tongued speaker; Sebastian is a man that is always attempting to talk himself out of any and all harm that he finds himself in. Always placating people that fire up, Sebastian is the first to speak.

An adept gambler; Sebastain grew up with a con artist father, his idea of gambling is more sleight of hand than his own ‘luck’, as he called it.

Personality Traits:
Sebastian is kind of a normal guy. Well about as normal as a guy that lives a lifestyle of constant alcohol and cigarettes with no consequences can live. He is a womanizer, always looking to get laid to varying levels of success.

Sebastian considers himself the closest thing to a gentleman that the little pit of hell he was brought up in. Always seemingly quick to trust; Sebastian is meticulous in the webs of lies and falsehoods he spins. He is always looking at a new bit of information to register and use as blackmail. Those that get past his quick talking, sarcastic shell find more sarcasm but also a profoundly loyal man that gives his all to those he calls friends.
TL:DR He is a sarcastic asshole.

Backstory:

Sebastian was born to a con man that had since settled down and a woman who hadn’t realized her husband's shady past. Growing up quickly in a house of two alcoholics, Sebastian learned to fend off a thrown fist long before he understood why it was getting thrown. Despite this, Sebastian seemed to have an uncanny sense of luck when it came to his own endeavours as a child. He was luckily guessing correct answers while at school, knowing just when to step out of the way as a kid came careening past, his shuffles; which his dad showed him whilst sober, always managed to cut correctly even when knew he had fucked it up.

This streak of luck was noticed by his father and he began teaching him more about the art of the con. Fleecing, sleight of hand, you name it...Sebastian King was taught it at the age of 15. It wasn’t till a con had gone bad, that the luck Sebastian was so naturally hold of manifested itself stronger. A knife, a sliver of silver that cut towards him in the inky blackness of the alley. All Sebastian could think of was that he sure hoped the knife wielding thug tripped and knife came at a stop at his feet. Then, with a crack, the man stumbled...and the knife slid to Sebastian's feet. He picked up the knife, a cool smooth grin playing across the lips of the now reassured teen con artist.

Since then, Sebastian found others like him; discovering the existence of mutants via the men Charles, Erik and Logan. An invitation to join with them and learn about all he could do was ample enough reason for Sebastian to put on his cocksure smile and nod.

Teleportation:
Talia has the ability to teleport herself, the clothes she is wearing, and within limits a certain amount of additional mass which is in contact with her. She also demonstrates a subconscious spatial awareness, which prevents her feet from appearing underneath the solid ground or from teleporting into solid objects that would otherwise kill her instantly.
Its still currently a mystery the distance she is able to travel and what is the maximum mass that can travel with her. Although under stressful situations she has been known to be able to travel the span of several miles. With constant training and use of her ability, Talia can progressively expand the distance she is able to travel. If she were to reach her full potential, she could theoretically travel to the moon in one jump, categorizing her as a class 4 mutant.

Talia is only just discovering her abilities and as such there is still a great amount that is unknown to her. However, given the proper training and time to reach her full potential Talia will be able to perform the following sub-set abilities:

Empathic Teleportation:
Talia is able to teleport to those she has a strong bond with. Able to sense them through some subconscious awareness she can teleport to their side if within her range, even if she physically doesn't know their location.

Remote Teleportation:
The ability to teleport other people and objects away without transporting herself along with them or requiring physical contact. She can use this ability both defensively and offensively.

Partial Teleportation:
The ability to teleport parts of a target away. She can use this ability both defensively and offensively.

Portal Creation:
By concentrating all of her will power, Talia is able to expand the spatial opening that allows her to teleport into a fully-fledged portal that remains open for as long as she wills it or is able to stay conscious, given it takes a tremendous amount of energy and concentration. The portal can be utilized by anyone to teleport to the other side by simply walking through. It is ideal for when large amount of people or objects need to be transported from one location to another. It should be noted that when performing this particular ability, Talia is unable to do anything else as she is fully invested in keeping the portal open.


Skills:
An adept gymnast, swimmer, and athlete, Talia has spent the better half of her short life in gymnastic classes as well as participating in female track, boasting that she is able to run a mile in under eight minutes flat.

Being born and raised in Puerto Rico, she is fluently bilingual in Spanish and English and is currently trying her best to learn French as her third language. Talia is also quite talented at singing, given that she was forced into acting and singing lessons since the age of three by her mother.
Because of her acting background, Talia is quite adaptable and can mold herself into any situation. She has a keen sense of people around her and their distinct personalities and as such is able to tailor her own to, for the most part, fit in with just about anyone.

Although, she isn't the brightest in the school, she is able to hold her own when it comes to studies and has shown a great affinity for History, although, unfortunately the same cannot be said for mathematics - her worst and most hated subject.

The entirety of Talia's character is hard to distinguish based on how often she tends to lie. At first glance, she may be seen as shallow, superficial, and fake but it is only because of the way she was raised. She is capable of convincingly portraying friendly and flirtatious, timid, vulnerable and scared when the appropriate situation arises. But for the most part she is a level-headed, strong-willed and independent young woman.

Her default personality is that of an innocent young girl, and is quite convincing in her role. But at a closer look, particularly for those of the telepathic nature, one can see through her ruse as nothing more than a facade. Most times Talia is even able to fool herself, as it is something that she has grown up doing her entirely life out of necessity and must constantly remind herself that she no longer lives in that lifestyle.

Talia has a sarcastic sense of humor, which mostly surfaces when she is around those she trust and feels comfortable being her true self with. She is very much street-smart rather than book-smart and can be quite loyal to a fault with those she call friends.

In stressful situation, she can be quite tough on herself and those around her and has been known to have a quick and short temper and tends to lash out in Spanish. Talia, however, is a good person and can be quite heroic in her own way.

Backstory:
Born to crime and drug lord, Virgilio Gonzales-Ramos, and small time stage actress, Maria Deborah, on Christmas Eve of 1929 in Ceiba, Puerto Rico. It wasn't known at the time but Talia would be the first and only child that Maria would be able to sire.

Two years after Talia's birth, a gang warfare left Maria wheelchair bound and announced the end of her short career. It was this tragic event that propelled Maria to force her dreams onto Talia and push her into the lime-light from the tender age of three. She enrolled the young infant into acting and singing classes and at the age of five she was pushed into gymnastics and dance also.

Even as a babe, Talia was lavished with the best dirty money could buy. Her father treated her as a princess and as such she lived. But all the best toys and all you can eat ice cream came at a heavy price. Virgilio was well known through Puerto Rico and Veiques for his hot temper and itchy trigger. If you didn't fit into his vision, you quickly found yourself at the butt-end of his anger. Talia learned that the hard way and quickly understood that acting wasn't just for fun anymore, but it was the very means of her survival. She was cast to play the role of her life: Daddy's Princess. It was best for her sake she didn't step off script.

By the time she was fourteen, Talia had an in-depth understanding of her father's shady business and from where their wealth came from. She had witness murder at the dinner table. She knew of the shady drug deals that happened in the back alley of the church on Sundays when she was on stage singing choir. She was aware that she always got the best deserts at every restaurant that they visited because the owners were scared shit-less of her father, and she couldn't help but notice that the police never even as much as glanced their way. But it was her job to act oblivious to it all...and so she did.

At the age of sixteen, Talia's role finally came to an end. While having dinner with her family at one of their favorite restaurants a rival gang, who had decided enough was enough, came in guns blazing as they mowed down the entire restaurant clientele. Panic gripped the young female's heart and before she knew what was happening she was sitting back in her bedroom screaming and running for cover. It wasn't until she was shaking under her bed that she realized she was no longer at the restaurant.

The next few weeks had the entire island in an uproar with the restaurant massacre. No one had an explanation as to how Talia survived but everyone simply tried to explain that she must have just blocked the traumatic event and had walked back to the house in a stupor, despite her continuous recounting of the event. After the funeral, Talia's grandmother thought it best to send the girl up to New York with her aunt and uncle for the time being, at least until things settled down in Puerto Rico and her life was no longer in immediate danger.

Talia had just lost both of her parents in the most tragic way, was being sent to live with people she hardly even knew, and to make matters worse no one would believe her when she tried to tell her side of the story. It was safe to say she felt alone and isolated, and not quite sure how to even feel. To make matter worse even though she was considered a U.S. Citizen, her Hispanic heritage didn't make her stay in New York any easier, luckily it wasn't anything compared to being an African-American.

It was during this time that she was approached by a man, Erik Lehnsherr, who claimed to believe her story, even as far fetch as it sounded. He explained that along side Charles and Logan, two other mutants, they had started a school, a sort of safe haven for people like themselves. Talia wasn't sure what to believe, but if they could help her understand why she kept appearing in her bathtub randomly throughout the day, then she was willing to give it a shot.

Other:

  • As a side-effect of her teleportation, Talia is immune to telepaths while in mid-jumps given that her mind is quite literally shifting briefly out of what is perceived as reality.

Jae's powers are unusual and many would consider them useless in battle, as he has yet to learn how to use them correctly. Any form of sound, as in the vibrations that flow through the air, unable to be seen by the eye and sometimes the ear, Jae is able to see, hear and manipulate. Sounds show up in clouds of color for him, so they are easy to spot and easy to manipulate as well. He can make a sound louder as he wished by making the cloud bigger or can make a sound disappear completely by shrinking the cloud down to a manageable size. His screams or yells can be supersonic and he can project any form of sound that he creates himself toward someone else as a physical attack, as he makes the vibrations of the sound he projects so hard that they become physical tremors. With this, he has the ability to speed up sound as well as slow it down. Lowering and upping the frequencies of certain sounds can be deadly to humans, especially if it goes too low. If he fires off sounds quickly enough, he has also found out that he can create a barrier of sound, protecting himself, but sounds do not last very long.

Mimicry
Jae has the ability to mimic any form of sound he can hear, whether it is an animal, human, bug, anything that makes a noise. However, in order for him to mimic it, he has to have heard it beforehand. Once he hears a sound, he is able to store it in his memory and mimic it again at a later point. When he hasn't heard something for a long time, he is unable to copy the sound right off the bat unless he hears the sound again. The easy item to mimic for him are other humans, as it takes him one try to copy someone's voice. Animals and others take two to three tries before he can truly copy it perfectly.

Because of his powers, Jae has a heightened sense of hearing, which allows him to figure out when someone is nearby. His footsteps have become quieter and this allows him to sneak around a lot easier than most humans. He is in good shape, giving him good endurance with anything physical. Speed is key when it comes to thieving, so he is fairly fast on his feet. With his background, he has developed quick reflexes and a decent athletic ability. Having to live alone and raise his sister has made him intelligent and a swift learner. He is able to immediately come up with solutions for certain situations whenever they arise, whether someone is ill, something bad has happened or otherwise.

Being the oldest in his family and having to take care of his younger sister since they moved to the US, Jae is a leader, which gives him a stubborn personality. He believes that was he does is what he should do, and rarely takes advice from anyone else on what he should be doing. Growing up with barely anything and becoming a thief to be able to survive turned lying into a habit for him. Even when he doesn't need to lie, he tends to lie anyways. His sister hardly trusts him anymore because of it as well. He tends to be on the more dishonest side when it comes to things, especially if it gets himself or his sister into any danger or trouble. He is very protective of his sister and growing up without anyone guiding him turned him into a tough person.

Underneath all of this tough, lying exterior, he is actually quiet intelligent in clever. He has a quick wit and doesn't take crap from anyone. He may give out his own lies, but when he knows someone is lying to him, he doesn't take it. Once a person gets to know him, it is easy to tell that he is very casual and laid back. He is very distrusting when it comes to meeting people for the first time.

||Backstory:||
Jae was born in South Korea in 1928 to a pear farmer who worked on the outskirts of Seoul. He was the oldest of three children, one of his younger sisters being born two years later and the other four years later, and considered to be a "miracle child", as his parents had been told that they would not be able to have any children. His father had been in the first World War and had been lucky enough to come back with only losing two of his fingers. Growing up, Jae had heard horror stories of the war and he put his father on a pedestal, believing him to be a war hero because he was able to come back alive. He was proud of his father, not knowing that his father had hid when his unit had charged into battle, getting slaughtered.

In his childhood, Jae was working in the fields from age five. He was a quick worker and was able to climb to the highest parts of the trees to shake down pears for his father. He was athletic from a very young age, but he was also ignorant of the brewing war that was going on around them. His parents, however, were not ignorant. Having seen the lead up to World War 1, his parents were noticing the signs of another oncoming war. By the time Jae was eight years old, his parents were already figuring out a way to get them out of the country and to America, where they believed they would be safe.

Within the next year, when Jae was nine years old and a year before World War 2 officially began, Jae's parents put Jae and his younger two sisters on a trade ship heading for the United States. They used almost all of their money to bribe the captain to take the stowaways to a safer place. The captain was moved more by pity than by money, so he took the children anyways. Reaching the United States was easy, as they just had to remain hidden on the boat, but actually getting onto land was a little more difficult. The captain devised a plan to hide each of the children in a cargo box and sneak them onto land that way, allowing them to come out when they got on land. Finally reaching the US, they continued as planned and Jae and his siblings were able to sneak into New York City, to be safe as their parents had hoped.

What their parents seemed to have forgotten was they were only children. They had no way to make money, no place to stay, no way to survive without their parents there. Their parents had given them food for only a month, if they used it sparingly. The children had to resort to staying in an alleyway between a lawyer firm and a clothing store. A box was used for cover when it rained and ripped clothing from the clothing store that was thrown away was used for blankets and warmth. Within a month, Jae's youngest sister fell ill, due to malnutrition mainly, but being cold all the time and not having proper clothing didn't help. She died within two months, leaving Jae alone with his younger sister. This was when Jae realized there was not much that he could do for his sister without breaking the law. He wasn't going to let this sister die, as the younger one had.

Jae started thieving small things, an apple from a fruit stand, an umbrella from a tourist shop, those sort of items. He gave his sister most of his food, only taking little bits for himself. This kept up for about a year until World War 2 began and all of the men left for the war. Women became shopkeepers and Jae found it easier to steal items without anyone noticing, especially when he brought his sister along to distract the female shopkeepers. He began picking up English from listening to conversations that were had near the alleyway and began speaking to the shopkeepers to distract them away from what he was doing.

His first big thieving was when he was fifteen years old. Before then, he had been mainly stealing food, but he finally figured out that he was quick handed. He began learning how to pickpocket and managed the steal an expensive pocket watch, which he sold for enough money to buy more food for his sister and buy both of them new clothing. The rush of thieving such items and getting money for them filled him and he began going bigger, stealing rings or watches as he shook hands with people, and soon, he wasn't stealing for money or food. He was stealing just for the fun of it. His sister began getting worried and tried to get him to stop, but he wouldn't. He went too far when he was sixteen and stole the expensive ivory cane of an important official. He was chased back to the alleyway and he and his sister hid. This was where he saw his first sound cloud, which happened to be his sister crying silently, though it was still loud enough for people to hear. He told her to be quiet, but she couldn't. The cloud still floating there, and he willed that she would be quiet. The cloud disappeared suddenly. Though she still moved as if she was crying, no noise came from her. He had figured out his powers.

From then on, wherever he went, he saw sounds floating in the air as different colored clouds. The louder the sound, the bigger the cloud. The different colors he couldn't figure out. He knew that there was something different about him, but he never used his powers again. Purposely. Sometimes, he would get so frustrated with his younger sister that he unintentionally shot off a sound wave, but he never injured her.

He got caught by a mysterious man when he was out pick pocketing. He had no idea who the man was, only that he knew a lot about Jae that he definitely should not have. The man knew about his powers and wanted to help him. He gave him an address that he needed to go to, telling him specifically to bring his sister as well and they would be given a room and good food. Though distrusting, Jae went along with it, doing what he thought was best for both himself and his sister, taking help from a stranger for the first time in over nine years.

Other:
Jae never purposely used his powers to harm anyone. Every unintentional firing of a sound knocked some rock loose, but he had never actually tried it on another human being.

Jae always walks in front of his sister, making sure that he is protecting her as much as he can.

Jae can hear almost every sound, no matter how low or high. The higher the frequencies, the more irritating it is to him as well. He has never gotten into much pain because of his powers though. This is also a warning to never talk behind his back, because he will most likely hear you.
