Nathanial has a small build for a guy, which had him and his brother mistaken for a lot when they were kids. His hair is a brunette and his eyes a blue-green. He dresses in very hipster-like clothing and has bruises from when he would stand in front of his brother whenever their father was drunk.

Nate has always been the big brother to his twin, as well as always smiling to keep him smiling. He is strong willed and never shows when he's upset for he doesn't want people to worry about him. Nate is happiest when his brother is happy, yet deep down he's scared of not being needed by his twin anymore.

Nate and Allan try their hardest to forget their life with his father as they starts their new life with their aunt. All Nate wants out of this year is a place where Allan feels safe and wanted. A place where he can properly make friends and live a happy life. He doesn't care too much about how his year ends, considering his own life was pretty good despite the few beatings he took in place of his brother.

Dark brown, almost black, hair and blue eyes behind glasses. He normally wears sweaters or arm warmers as his arms are covered in scars and bruises. Small build, very feminine. He wears a half binder to hide his breasts and doesn't speak much due to his girl-ish voice.

Al is a very scared child due to his past life with his father. He's terrified of men but can't help feeling attracted to them. Allan has anxiety and depression (though he's 99% sure it's actually Borderline Personality Disorder), as well as his own weed and alcohol problem that was created from what his father did to him. He knows Nate hates it when he gets drunk or high but he absolutely can't help it. Al gets his fix with the help of his neighbor.

When Allan was young he was known as Allison, or Allie. Nothing about being called those names felt right to the young child but he was scared to tell anyone, anyone but his twin. Ever since the two of them had the serious conversation at age 6 Nate had been calling his twin Al, saying upon finding out that "well if you don't feel like Allison then you must be Allan! Father won't be happy with that so I'll call you Al, since it works for Allison too but we'll both know it's for Allan."
For the most part Allan was a happy child. Fast forward to after his mother's death at age 12 and everything changed. He felt that nothing he did was right due to all the things his father had done to him. Al also felt at fault for the amount of times Nate got hit because if Allan wasn't so bad then his brother wouldn't have to protect him, right? Everything grew worse with his mother gone and his coming out as transgender while having a yelling fest with his dad, not only physically but mentally too. Al grew more and more quiet, becoming selectively mute. He only spoke when it was just him and his brother for he'd be too scared of saying the wrong thing and getting hit again. Whenever he did speak he would either whisper, stutter, or both.
There were many times when Al would contemplate committing suicide, and many more times than that in which he would self harm. He felt he deserved it and if it wasn't for his twin he wouldn't be alive today.
Now he copes by getting high, or drinking, or both, so as to forget his feelings and at least have some sort of drug-induced happiness. However, during school days Nate won't let Allan do this. He hates not letting AL get his own way because he sees how shut down he is without the fake happiness and Allan hates the looks of sadness Nate gives him when he realizes he's addicted.
Allan doesn't want to be a disappointment to his brother, so he hopes to try and find a way to have true happiness so he doesn't have to rely on weed and alcohol. It may not happen during the span of a year but he hopes to have himself fixed at least by the end of high school.
