If the Princess hadn't gotten dragged over to Fanilly, I would have figured out some way to get someone else to do the honors, but given what needed to happen it would have been a bit awkward. ^^;

Yeah, but with how things ended up she changed locations, and given what the assassin was doing to avoid being seen it was easier to just do it with the nearest people.

So instead, Fanilly stays with the princess and everyone else gets to either join her or chase the assassin.
