Loose school based psychic, or magical ability rp. The plan is to have most of the action take place outside of school premises, however the first arc to the story takes place entirely within the school.

The school itself is three stories tall with five stories below ground. (So it's an eight story building.) The two bottom most stories, are actually just one giant open space, made out of a material that is impossible (in theory) to destroy, penetrate, cut, etc. etc. The next story up is the detention area, which negates abilities, and furthermore has the nature of calming the individuals present. The next two floors are devoted to classrooms. The final three stories are devoted to dormitories(the three stories above ground.) The "first" floor is the teacher's dormitory, offices, main lobby, and lunch cafeteria. The "second" story is the female dorms, and their kitchen and dining area. The "third" story is the male's dorms, kitchen and dining area.

Food is provided by the school, however breakfast, dinner/supper, and snacks must be prepared and cooked by the students themselves. (Just an interesting roleplay moment for your characters.)

Student are not prevented from visiting the nearby town (which I haven't decided exactly where this takes place beyond it being in the USA.) Unless they are incapable of controlling their abilities or are being punished.

Most of the classes, such as core curriculum don't necessarily need to be rped, there is only one class that for sure needs to be roleplayed. Which is gym (hah!) Though that class is technically devoted to power control and application.

Now, why are you attending this school? Well cause the government told you too. All individuals who are discovered to have psychic or magical power/ability are placed into a school like this. The schools and psychic or magical abilities are not common knowledge, but there are rumors and conspiracy theories about them, the government wants it to stay that way. Technically, we (by that I mean you) can choose to reveal these facts, however there will be both consequences and attempts to hide it.

More information will be made available in the ooc, this rp hasn't been fully fleshed out yet.

Sounds awesome actually. And I am totally good with this. I mean school settings make for a lot of fun you couldn't have else where like childish anticks and jerky magick users even stuff for the evil kid and the quiet secluded kid. All that stuff and it sounds awesome

I'm so excited that interest is being displayed! I was worried that this would sink and die. Now what is the preference for the abilities? Magic? Psychic? Or a mixture of the two? Such as magic is available to all characters to an extent, but specific psychic abilities fluctuate? Or....what?

I want this to be our story, I have most of the arcs developed, but they have holes in them, that I left open to be filled by the individuals who are playing along. (Also, I might have put a lot of work I into specific arcs, but haven't decided what kind of abilities are being represented. I'm not sure what I was thinking :p)

That's a vote for doesn't care, and a mixture. That's my preference as well, good enough for me, so long as additional interest is shared in this idea it's definitely a go. How would you feel about allowing the supernatural in?

When it comes to your character and what they are if it's a good build, and isn't to far out I'll probably accept them. This is a government storage facility for storage to hold, for a given value, living secrets. Who need to go to school. There's some room for artistic license.

I'm thinking about the school's rules,. And I am thinking about having dampeners throughout the building, minus the "gym" this adds a layer to the story, especially since I have action taking place there. This will also encourage time spent in the town, which is somewhat important for future plans.

Sounds good. It also makes logical sense, since no school would want children with godlike powers and short tempers to liquefy their cheating boyfriends.

Should probably have some sort of task force maintained by the school (either metahuman or just highly trained vanillas) to round up anyone that does something stupid out in town. Maybe have dampeners placed around the town that they can activate if they catch wind of unauthorized activity. That way we would have to be smart about where and how we use our powers in town.

I'm with that idea, but they'd be in certain places, and I'll probably have at least a minority group of metahumans or the like living in the town, maybe the town is in on the secret? So it's kind of an open secret in the area? Also allowing the teachers to live off campus, and take turns with over night duties?

And I definitely like the task force idea.

Another idea, townsfolk and task force members are playable characters. However they must be in on the secret or discover it. (Your character will be more likely to be injured or die without abilities of some type though.)

It makes sense to have the town more or less in on the whole thing. Government facilities require a lot of personnel, and you can bet that people let things slip to their family and friends even when they shouldn't. So maybe not everyone would know exactly what was going on, but a lot of people would have an idea.

@Mogwar and if there wasn't a an idea there would at least be an area 51 esque rumor surrounding the school

True, that adds an interesting idea as well.

So some facts, this is not the only school like this, so the rumors may not be pinpointed on this area necessarily. But I'm not sure, certainly an area that's a center for Metahumans would have an interesting effect on the outside area as well.

@OneStoryToMany When it comes to what powers a person would have to be admitted into this place, why don't we just lump everything in - Psychic abilities, Espers, supernatural, the lot. Considering the vibe I get from this place is a "Facility for people the Government-can't-be-fucked-to-deal-with-at-the-moment-but-want-to-keep-an-eye-on-for-the-future". Adds more variety as well.
