Sorry for the delay; I got distracted by bad horror movies and Secret Hitlers. But the post is up!

So, uh, OOC-wise, have we come to a final conclusion on what we actually want to do with Rend? Mad and I left him in a pretty critical condition so he could be killed off or saved, depending on what the rest of ya'll think would be more interesting. Part of me kind of thinks he shouldn't stay in the game. One, because it would change how Owen viewed Tahlia and Benji for the worse, and two, I just don't think I can do a good Rend. But maybe I'm just trying to take the easy way.

Thoughts?

If it were up to me, I'd probably kill Rend. I say that because of the fact that Eru made a brilliant character that he understands, and I think it'd do the character more justice to let him impact the character through his death than try and play a sub-par version that tries to live up to Eru. That's just my opinion, though. I think it could be interesting either way.

Also: I'm currently working on a post, and it should be up tonight, if not tomorrow.

And, not gonna lie, I'm definitely taking the easy way in saying that we should just let Rend die, or at least throw him back in the freezer. I'm no good at playing multiple characters as it is, especially ones that I didn't make myself.

Echo is hoping that he dies. It also doesn't make much sense to keep him alive from an IC standpoint since it means we will need to either put him in charge or imprison him.

From a realistic standpoint people would probably decide to freeze him in the faulty tank and seal the tank if he survives waking up before some sort of containment is established.

From a story standpoint we absolutely need some sort of leverage to keep us from story exit. That being said, the character has not met the criteria for exit. He needed to die leaving the question "how are they going to get along as a group if one of them is willing and capable of killing the others?" Since that question is resolved, he MUST serve a secondary function before exit... A foreboding threat, pointing out the flaws of trying to get him to cooperate, showing the logistical nightmare of imprisonment during limited resources. To simply have him die might be realistic but would leave the story with "what the heck was that?"

Deserted Does make a really good point. If they don't kill him/he doesn't die, Yazmin would have a significantly higher amount of faith in the crew, as opposed to if he died.

It feels as if right now, Rend's life is in Benji's hands since he is the only one who could grant him survival in this situation. For Rend's sake, it is fortunate that Yaz was the one to get through to Benji via intercom. Because and although Benji is the type of guy who wouldn't even swat a fly, he is hesitant to go and save the man's life instead of allowing the foreseen suffocation occur for reasons he will explain later. But, as you know, he's has a soft spot for Yaz, he's going to listen to her. So, yeah it would be the easy way, but it wouldn't quite make sense to the story. Also, with my last message with Eru, he explained how he may be able to post in the future if he could, thus if we keep Rend alive, Eru could possibly return again with maybe a vengeful or at least an even more bitter Rend.

Also, how long would you guys propose Rend has before he is completely, you know, dead? Maybe ten more minutes, it will allow me to make Benji do something that will add a bit of mystery.

And yeah, Rend probably has about 10 minutes.

Chronological time is irrelevant in story. Rend is either dead before Before Benji arrives, he could die at the same time Benji shows, or he could survive until after Benji arrives. These can all take a matter of seconds, minutes, hours, even days so long as it makes sense.

I would suggest that if the plan is to have Rend die, that he does so before Benji arrives since that gives any last enigma or spite or anything to a PC instead of the GM. Likewise, it would be a good idea to have the final message given to someone who isn't crazy and already stuffed full of secrets. This, of course, would be a GM post and not need for the GM/PC to arrive on the scene.

Sorry it was a rather short post and probably did not reveal as much as it could in the moment, but I want to really explain the dilemma Benji is currently battling with in a later post when someone speaks to him, so I don't sound repetitive.

EDIT: Oh yeah and who is interested in having their character speak to the frustrated Benji? That will eventually result in a collab.

Just a heads up for you guys, if you are wondering what's the hold up. Me and @TheMadAsshatter are working on a collab together, and have been typing up on it little by little each day when we can. So, I don't know how much longer, but hang in there.

And our 26th post is out! At the end of it, Benji mentions hearing footsteps, that could really be anybody, I just wanted keep it open to keep us moving. If you choose to post next, please say so down below just to keep us in the know.

I kind of wanted to give SheriffLlama a chance to put in Yaz's input to all of this, since everyone else has except her. But maybe that can be saved for some other time between her and Benji in a collab that won't be anytime soon, because I want to get away from that for now and pace back to a general activity among the entire crew. I think my next plan is to open up to breakfast, the crew gathered around the table. Here, I don't wish for things to get heated or conflicting, rather them still exposing parts of them that make them human whether it be with banter, old memories back on earth, or just small talk. Them being normal people doing normal things. Oh and I took out the part about Benji in the kitchen hearing footsteps, because I had planned for something then that was a couple days back, but then I got busy and sidetracked during the week till I forgot about what I originally intended and came to the conclusion to move on.
