Ugh, I think it's horrible that restaurants can get away with paying employees less than minimum wage. Restaurants and other tip based businesses should be required to pay the same wages as every other business and get rid of tipping.

I don't really mind it tbh. It's not that bad, I go home every day with more money in my pocket than when I came in and a pay check every other week. I make 50 dollars almost everytime I work, I work about 20 hours a week and get around 80 dollar paychecks. I don't really go anywhere or do much so it adds up very fast. Sometimes on a really good night I can leave with 150. It all depends on my service (which is excellent, I am the best waiter) and how the day is. But I make a consistent 10 dollars an hour in tips and 4.05 an hour in wage, so I usually make 14.05 an hour which is almost double minimum wage.

We've got two universities where I live, and students don't tip. Most waiters here have three and four jobs because they don't make anywhere near enough at just one job. The tips are practically non existent.

I tried being a waitress for like a week and it failed horribly. It was for a family owned business and the guy was originally a CEO for a tech company so he had no idea how to run a restaurant. I would work from 9AM - 12 AM with zero breaks because he couldn't schedule for shit. But in that week I really started feeling for people in that industry so now I usually tip like 40% and if I have the money I'll tip more.

Yeah, I try to tip like that, too, especially here. But I don't go out to eat much. I usually end up cooking at home. It's hard to find suitable food out that follows the endometriosis diet.

I appreciate people like you. The college and highschool kids in my area tip really well tho, its always people over the age 35 who are really bad at tipping. Leaving 2 dollars on a 40 dollar bill... Jerks.

Though, last night. I had a table of 7 and they left me 50 CENTS. I was too busy to be salty about it at the time, so I decided to sulk about it today.

Wait can't you do a mandatory 15% or 20% tip for parties larger than 6? I thought that was like a rule

I just searched it, but only some states use the mandatory tip for large parties such as New York but even then the customer can speak with a manager and not pay the amount added. People can be jerks though with tipping. Especially if the place is super busy and service is a little slow. Its terrible. When it's busy I usually tip a little extra because you can tell how backed up things are, it's not the servers fault.

I don't think where I live is one of those states, knowing my luck. Plus the place I work is so company strict that it physically hurts my soul and therefore probably don't require something like that. -sigh-

Hello all,

I take off on a road trip starting this coming Tuesday. I won't be checking site regularly but all things going well I should be able to post a couple times a week. The issue is since I won't be checking regularly I may not know when updates are up. If anyone has FB or Line you can prod me via that; shoot me a PM and I'll give you contact info.

Alright, my weekend was crazy. October is a funny month for me because on the weekends I work at a haunted house which takes up most of my time. So weekend posts may be scarce and I might not even get on on weekends. But worry not it's because I don't care anymore. Lmao time to get my own post up now.

Just to keep things moving, go ahead and post about if you're signing the contracts or not. It doesn't have to be a long post, but it would be good to have whatever forward movement we can while we wait for people to come back.
