What a foul place I find myself in... One quick look and I could tell, this place, it is sickened with depravity. Lost souls who have, by chance or by necessity, found themselves massed together for a common goal. Adventure. Comradery. Glory. Salvation. It pains me to think that I am anything like them, but the standard dose isn't enough anymore... I feel my mind wander, my fingers eager to follow.

It has not been long since I began this habit, perhaps a year at most, but once I did I found myself enthralled. Every week, often twice or three times a week, I would find myself at the table, indulging in my sick little fantasies. Some ventures tapered off, others endured. After a while, only one remained. Once a week. Once. a. week. It wasn't enough. I began to stray from the table which had become my second home. I ventured from site to site, seeking a place to rest, to settle, to indulge...

And that's how I found myself here. Hopefully it isn't as disappointing as the last. Hopefully I can find a group of like-minded individuals, even among this rabble, with which to "chase the dragon", so to speak.

In any case, call me whatever you like: Joel, Vaso, it's all the same. I've never had much success with play by post, but I hope to find here a community on which I can play as frequently as possible.

Before you enter, do entrust your soul with me. It seems there is an excessive amount of deprived gents around... though I'm sure you know that.

Pray tell, what reason might I have to trust you over another? Surely someone here is tolerable, at least.

Simply put, I have no need for souls, and the eye is always watching them. Thus, I do not need to take your soul permanently, and it can be well maintained in my care.

What would such a service cost me?
Furthermore, my soul is very valuable to me. What assurances do I have that it is safer in your hands than mine? Or that you will return it to me once this is no longer the case?

I need to know what you can do for me, and what you're willing to risk.

Welcome to our little slice of insanity, the rabbit whole is deep here and our ventures great. You never know what you find but they say if you seek you shall find. I have been trapped here for a while now and was lucky enough to find a good group that fit me like a glove. Hopefully you will as well.

If it's honesty you seek, then entrust your soul to me. Where Arena would claim no foul deed to your soul, but I assure you, he lies. I on the other hand will tell you wholeheartedly that I intend to defile your soul and use you against my enemies, to become a pawn in the grand scheme of things. But perhaps if your play a useful role in my machinations, maybe you'll earn a position for yourself beyond mere fodder. Give me your soul and I can promise you the opportunity of advancement in this forum. You won't find this deal with anyone else.

Y'all did just really start roleplaying in an introduction thread. I'm amused, impressed, but sort of confused too.

I mostly have experience in fantasy RP. I only have experience with tabletop RPG. I've never played Play by post. I'm looking for a RP game where I can create a really cool character with an established background, in an established world. Bonus points if he has a skill set that allows him to interact with said world, but it's not necessary. I'm open to realism or sci fi as opposed to fantasy. Really I'm just looking for an adventure I can come back and post to as frequently as possible. My usual weekly group is effectively disbanded since my DM got called in for Jury Duty.

@Vaso Understandable, that was one of the things that drove me to forum Rp over TTRPG - Easier to find a group around here. There are several DnD styles right now. Since you are new to the whole forum game I would suggest starting out in either Free or Casual Sections to get a hang of things. Don't be intimidated though by any of the posts or Cs's around if you run across some longer ones. Just find what fits for you.

The biggest thing is finding the right fit. Some Gm's are much more lax than others, others are just down right pains in the ass and evil GM Overlords (I'm one of the hard asses around here.) I run Duplicity, DnD style, always open if you want to take a gander, link is in my signature; but there are many others as well. A quick search will give you a lot of help.

Also since you are new, check the tutorials section near the bottom of the forum - there is a lot of information there. All else fails, ask. Myself and many others have no problem giving a hand and answering any questions if you just want to drop a pm.
