Evander went back to his original seat when the group activity was over. At least he learned some things about them, even if it was at the bare minimum. It went well, at least in his opinion. Compared to the other group, it must've been. Aiden had stood up and left the room but then some other guy, Elroy, was on the other side so he was forced to move to another part of the room. Whatever happened seemed to piss the guy off. Considering that Sebastian was there, Evander shouldn't have expected that it would go all well. Wonder what would happen if he was grouped with the guy.

His attention was taken back by Sir Jonas when he started speaking. His eyes trailed to Elroy as the student council member began to speak. It was about the annual dance at the beginning of the school year. He stifled a sigh. Great, he forgot about this one. Emily hasn't been badgering him about it but she would certainly do so tomorrow. He was more than sure of it. And even if he doesn't want to go, he'll be forced to do so. Great, just great.

Although it might be interesting this year. Just... might be. It's the only hope he has to actually enjoying his time there. The fight for winning the competition might be more intense too. His vote goes to Winter automatically though, and he was more than sure that Emily thinks the same way as well. They never did like that queen bee girl... Ah crap, he forgot her name again. He has near perfect memory and yet he still can't remember her name. Eh, it'll stick sooner or later.

He packed up his things. With a nod of farewell to Sir Jonas, he headed outside. The class wasn't all that interesting and he still hasn't explained too much about it. Is it finding out more about yourself? Being more social? And who was Sir Jonas? Winter admitted that she hasn't found anything about the guy. Gunning for the mysterious type? Who knows. He was pulled away from his thoughts once he met with Emily and headed out the school.

Brynn was just putting away her notebook when she felt the sudden wave of unnatural warmth wash over her. Her eyes flicked up to catch a boy—Aiden McKenna—make for the door, only to be deterred when Lehrer shot him a sharp look. What was that? Brynn thought, a frown curling on her face, but she let the thought roll of her mind when she saw the time again. Only five more minutes—not enough for Lehrer to require any more writing, only discussion. She had a student council meeting to catch after school, and she was itching to get the day over with. Speaking of, Brynn thought, shouldn’t Elroy Bain be coming around to give reminders about the dance?

Right on cue, a knock sounded on the door. Lehrer opened it to reveal a Elroy, arm in cast and all. Brynn nodded along internally as he spoke, checking off the details in her head. He’d insisted that he still wanted to participate on the council despite the hectic summer, even though no one could have faulted him if he’d quit. Brynn had pegged it as dedication, though hesitantly.

Brynn perked up at the mention of the contest. That idea could be credited to Corben, and it’d been chosen over a contest of the ‘craziest dance moves’ and the ‘craziest picture.’ The last one had been outvoted in a hurry though—too many terrible things could have happened. Although she didn’t have plans to win, Brynn knew she did need to come up with something outrageous. As a member of the council, participating in such events was a must.

Would dressing up as a fruit be properly outrageous? Brynn thought, absentmindedly slinging on her backpack as the bell rang. She pulled a face when she remembered the specific fruits people seemed to find most outrageous. Peach as a last resort then. I'd rather be caught dead than as a banana.

After the bell, Mather Memorial Park

The announced dance was the last thing on Aiden's mind as he stormed through Mather Memorial Park. His skin was seared by rage; his whole body aching for release, as though some demon trapped within him demanded to be set free. Aiden hated this side of him; this wrathful monster that could so easily be prodded and provoked. He had been trying so hard over this past year to get some semblance of mindfulness; yoga, meditation, anything it took to sedate his temper. And he'd been succeeding, until today. He was just like the rest of them, his own rational thinking overpowered by his adolescent predicament. And he hated it.

Except, he wasn't really like the rest of them. There was something very specific that his body longed for, demanded, needed. Well, there were a few things - but one in particular was shouting louder than the others. It had been suppressed for far too long for Aiden to put up any sort of fight, and so it was with a sense of helplessness that he found himself clambering off the well-trodden path and into the denser woodland, his feet moving furiously of their own volition. He knew that he shouldn't; every nerve in his body warned him that he was being reckless and marching into danger. And yet, they also sang in harmony: Do it, do it, do it now. And before he knew it, he had arrived at the clearing.

He'd frequented this spot often during his younger days, a crude swing hanging from the branch of a tree that bore his carved initials acting as a testament to his time spent in the secluded retreat. It was this sense of privacy - no, isolation - that had drawn him back out here on the brink of adulthood. As a child, this unassuming clearing had been the place he was able to let off steam, and that was exactly what he needed right now.

He approached the tree cautiously, as though it might bear a grudge for all the time Aiden had not visited. But still it stood, its loyalty as strong as each bough. He ran a hand along the weathered wood, his fingers running along the decade-old etching of his initials in the bark. He closed his eyes, allowing something inside of himself to undo, if only ever-so-slightly. He traced the carving once more, this time with his index finger, which had grown so hot that the letters became charred as the tree was branded by heat.

He smiled. It just felt so right.

Invoked, Aiden turned and gripped the swing firmly, marvelling as the heat of his hand burned through the rope and caused the construct to ignite. It fell to the ground like a ready-made campfire, and his lips curved further. He was beginning to lose any inhibitions he might have, as he allowed a ball of flame to slip from his fist, shooting upwards like a military flare and followed quickly by a second and third. A swipe of his free arm set a jet of flame reeling through the clearing, and it was only when a large bush on the opposite perimeter swiftly caught light that Aiden realised what he was doing. His eyes grew wide in panic as he watched the angry red tongues lick at the nearby fauna, feeding the hungry beast and allowing it to grow at an alarming rate.

And so Aiden did what he did best: he fled.

Honestly, s'up with this place? Thought the main was supposed to be nice, Tavia complained to herself as she put her stuff away. First it was cold around that Evander kid's area and then the room gets steamy the moment that guy opened the door. Even the old art building wasn't half so bad. Someone really needed to fix the temperature regulation up there.

She leaned casually against her desk, glancing surreptitiously at the clock every so often. Judging from all her stuff cleared away and the bag thrown over her shoulder, it'd be clear to anyone she was ready to leave. It was also clear, though, that Jozza thought they'd all still be sitting around and telling each other their stories, even when the clock was ticking away indifferently. Also, Jozza? Man, she had to stop with those nicknames. As people shuffled around, she pulled her phone out and went about answering her notifications. A great example of an apathetic American high schooler, if she said so herself.

When she looked up again, Elroy was in the room. Huh. She put her phone back in her bag. Kid was always pretty keen on answering her questions, though too bad for him about the whole... arm and fam situation. Yeah, she wouldn't be calling it that around other people any time soon. He was prolly here because of, and she paused and smiled gleefully to herself when he announced it, the first week's dance.

It wasn't like she ever won those things, popularity contest tripe and all that, but themed parties always excited her. Though, since she was friends with all these "your vote matters" people, she'd throw in her lot with, well. Whoever told her to do it first, to be honest. But anyway, the themed events were when she could unabashedly focus on her costumes and no one would say shit about school work or dance practice, least no one she'd bother listening to anyways. Whole days of nothing but fabric and sewing!

Though, a loon dance, that left her so many options. As she went through all the possibilities in her head, the bell rang and she leisurely made her way out of the room, tossing a farewell behind her to whoever. Manners and all that. But should she go for European avante garde or Asian avante garde? Or mayhaps... she'd combine the two. Yes, that'd definitely do it. She resolved to finish some wonky looking thing for the dance as she entered the girl's bathroom.

As Tavia climbed through the bathroom mirror, the distinct lack of any strange temperatures in the rest of her building passed through her mind but she chalked it up to just that one room being a pain. She had more pressing matters to concern herself with.

Kenneth Sokolvo

Social Conscience | Mather Memorial High School

Kenneth's eyes was already on the clock ten minutes before, glancing at it every once in a while as he quietly wondered if Mr. Lehrer would turn up the air conditioning. It was like that ever since he got into the room and all throughout the period, if he had knew it was going to be this cold then he would've brought a jacket to this class. Suddenly, he felt warmth tickle his skin as the flash of heat was totally unexpected as his eyes darted around him to look where it came from. With the cold settling around him once again as he caught one of the other guys in the class start making his way to the door but did a u-turn after some interference with Mr. Lehrer. 'Daww, he only pays attention to the trouble makers' He thought teasingly to himself as he counted the minutes in the class slowly edge closer to the bell ringing.

Then before anything else could be said by Jonas or the class, the door was opened by a familiar face of Elroy, which reminded him of the announcement of the upcoming dance. Giving a small wave and smile to the boy entered the classroom, before listening to him as he announced his message. Looking to his side as he saw Brynn with a focused look as she was probably checking through the specifics in her head as Elroy spoke. Turning his head back as he listened to the rest of the message and watched Elroy left the room, leaving Kenneth pondering about the dance.

The costumes and contest for them were revealed to the council first after all the preliminary voting had passed through, letting all the members know ahead of time to prepare setting up for the dance. Of course posters, signs, and advertisement for the dance were made entirely for the school but more ambitious members he knew were making their costume way ahead of the announcement. Of those people, he was one of them who had already been building his costume that would be suitable for using as his Halloween costume as well when he was done with it. It so far was a pretty nice project that he had going on the side that he would have time to work on, thanks to the slow flow of homework coming in for the first week of school. Remembering the previous years he had given half-hearted attempts on each outfit which came out alright but this year was different. With a plan already laid out, there would be no cutting corners or lazying out on details as he was going to hammer some time and care into this personal project. With some elbow grease and getting those creative juices on overdrive, he was at least going to make sure the competition was tough for he was aiming to win as well.

When the bell rang, he got up from his seat in front of the class as he left the classroom being one of the first one out of the door. Feeling the temperature rise up to normal, he gave a second look into the class before he turned and made his way to other errands that needed to be attended to. Although there was no doubt that the upcoming dance was on his mind, as he thought of ways to improve and add on to the outfit. While the thought of who Mr. Lehrer was is no doubt important, it was merely pushed to the back-burner as Kenneth had a whole year to form a better opinion on their new teacher.

It did worry him that such a teacher wasn't able to pick up too many defining traits from his observation, but again worrying about this wouldn't do any good right now. Clearing his mind, as Kenneth reviewed on potential competitors for the dance as he continued his way down the halls.

Rest of that afternoon

Rita had gotten the hell out of the classroom as quickly as possible. As soon as she left the school, the doors of the north entrance slamming behind her, she lit up her cigarette, on the fifteen minute walk to George's apartment, she had managed to smoke six cigarettes. She walked up the six flights of stairs to George's three room apartment, opening the door - it wasn't locked. George was probably the only person in this entire city who didn't lock his door. Rita got inside, and locked the door behind her. "George, you got any smokes?" She asked, and George peered his head out, sitting on the gaming chair in front of his computer - wearing a tank top and his boxers, his hair was messy, his top was greasy, he was right in the middle of a match of some video game that Rita had no interest in. "I'm out."

"Really? You opened a pack this morning, didn't you? God damn, woman. I've got a pack in the kitchen, drawers. If I didn't know better, I'd think smoking was your super power."

"Shut up." she said, as she headed into the kitchen, and opened the drawer, the pack of Prince laid there like a golden egg. She got one out and turned on the fan, lighting the nicotine up. "Rough first day?" George asked, and Rita shrugged. "Got a new teacher, put in a special study group, social conscience, they called it. Seems like a bunch of introspective bullshit. Seb's in the group too." Rita explained.

"Oh shit. How did that go?" George said, paying half-attention, dividing his attention between Rita and the game he was playing.

"He was an asshole, like always. But more importantly. Kalvin sent me a text." Rita said, fiddling with her phone as she did so.

"No shit, 'Broke your heart and fucked your cousin over in New York' Kalvin?" George shouted, the fan made it a little hard to reach. "I said, group up, group the fuck up!" He shouted at the game.

".. Yeah, he said he missed me." She said, with a long sigh.

"Fuck you you fucking cunt!" George shouted from the next room over.

"Russians?" Rita asked with a chuckle.

"God damn Russians. Sure wish we would've nuked them when we had the chance.

But I 'spose it goes for Kalvin, too. He's bad news, Rita."
He said, putting his headset down, heading into the kitchen, grabbing a cigarette as well and the lighter. He scratched his patchy beard as he did so.

"I dunno know, dude. He's pretty cute.."

"So give him a handy in the parking lot and be done with it" George said, with a smirk. ".. Then again, maybe you'd rip it off."

"Shut your mouth or I'll rip you off." Rita hissed at him.

"You'd be lost without me." George rebuttled, as the two of them shared a laugh. "There's the yearly dance this year. You wanna go with me again?" Rita asked, and George looked at her and chuckled. "You asking me to be your date?" Rita punched him in the shoulder.

"I'm frail, don't break me." He cried, faking he was hurt. Rita grinned. "Shut up, asshole. You wanna go or not?"

"Dude, I'm 23. I'm way too old to be hanging around high school dances." George told her, and Rita grinned. "Didn't stop you from hooking up with Chloe last year at the dance."

"I do love me some Chloe." George mused, pondering upon his adventures with the redheaded senior from last year, he then shrugged. "Nah. You'll have to go make it without me. Ask Seb. That should be fun."

"Fuck off." Rita said, waving him off, checking her phone. Kalvin had sent her another text. And her mom had called her. "I should probably head home." Rita told George, whom grinned. " I have a skype meeting in like, fifteen. So I better shower, and get dressed."

"And some pants."

"Not for a skype meeting, I don't." George said, laughing as he headed into the bathroom.

B e l l e D ' V o i r e cameo by Lord Wraith as Jonas

Although she'd never mention it, Belle was happy for the ceasefire of her group's 'discussion'. She couldn't say she had learned much about herself, but she understood a few of her new classmates a lot better - or at least, their surface purposes; Sebastian's apparently singular need to aggravate all within his radius, Rita's scathing ability of retaliation, and Aiden's unrivalled skill of quiet seething. All in all, Elroy's interruption was well-received.

A dance. Belle was well-acquainted with the school's traditions, having attended Mathers Memorial for the last few years, and while she always attended, she had never been accompanied. She usually ended up as the third wheel attached to Alex (her closest friend at the school) and whichever boy she had managed to snare, usually spending her nights drinking punch and eating appetizers against the wall or on the bleachers. Belle wasn't unpopular, and her calm and pleasant tendencies kept her well-regarded among her peers, but she didn't stand out in any particular way. She wasn't unhappy about it, but sometimes she did long for the attention that some of her schoolmates received.

She sat still while the students packed up and left in an almost deliberately-synchronized fashion, making a quick mental note to dig out her lunar jumper when she got home, and stood only when the room was empty save for Jonas and herself. She collected her notepad and folder, clutching them to her chest as she approached the front of the room, carefully clearing her throat to attract the attention of the teacher as he packed supplementary material into a leather briefcase.

"Mr. Lehrer?" She asked, sporting a polite smile as she addressed him. "I was wondering if you had a few minutes to answer a couple questions I had about this course and the semester."
As he was packing up his bag, Jonas paused and turned to address Belle.
"Sure, fire away Miss D'Voire" He answered, leaning on the desk.

Belle smiled. "Only a few queries, I promise. We're in this class for the whole semester, right? And you hand-picked all the attending students yourself?"
"Yes, the class will run for the entire semester, with a second semester in the winter should the initial run prove successful." Pausing, Jonas considered the best way to answer the latter part of the question. "As for the students, they were specifically chosen - but not by me personally." He lied as he answered.

Belle nodded slowly as Jonas provided his answer. "I see..." She wasn't convinced, but she also wasn't going to press the issue. "What's the overall focus and objective of the class? Is there a heavy workload in the syllabus? Because I have a lot of other classes and homework, sir, and with respect those grades are more important to me than this one - I've got to hit certain needs for this entymology degree, you see."

"This class won't be counted against your G.P.A." He replied with a small smile. "Consider it a mandatory extracurricular." Jonas paused a second, before clarifying further. "That's not to say I don't expect you to do the work. Not everything your future career will require of you will be paid either, but I do promise that the more you put into this class, the more you will get out of it." He put his hands on the edge of the desk and boosted himself on top of it to sit more comfortably. "The focus of this class is to encourage you to not only discover yourselves, but to get out and involve yourselves in the world around you. I want you to engage with the communities you live in, to serve them and aid them. Get out there, and help save the world, instead of becoming another apathetic nine to fiver." Jonas concluded energetically, his hands emphasizing his words before returning to the desk.

Belle cleared her throat, not completely satisfied but near-certain she wasn't going to get anything more from the apparently-elusive Jonas Lehrer. She smiled, and stepped back from the desk. "Well, it sounds like you're passionate about what you're going to be teaching us over the semester, so I look forward to further classes with you, sir." She walked out of the room, lingering in the doorway. "Will we see you at the dance? Faculty often attend..."
"I imagine it would be best if I volunteer my services as chaperone. Low man on the totem pole, and all." Jonas replied with a smile. "Have a good evening, Miss D'Voire." He waved, as Belle turned and walked away, hurrying herself home to get ready for the evening's event.

3:30 PM, First Day of Class | Mather Memorial High School

While he may not have been as fast as Aiden to leave the classroom, Sebastian was certainly no slouch as he booked it out the door. Sliding down the hallway banister as he made his way to the school's main level, Sebastian sneered at the football team as he went by before heading out the door. With the evening off, Sebastian was basically free to do whatever he pleased, his parents wouldn't expect him home before dark and there was little chance he'd make curfew to begin with.

Once the school was out of his view, Sebastian took a look around. Seeing no one nearby, the teen took a deep breath and took a few steps forward before disappearing into a blur as his powers took over, propelling Sebastian through the park at blinding speed. Minutes passed as the scenery changed drastically from the greens of Mather to the dirty stone of Crestwood's downtown. The smell of salt hung in the air as the moist air blew in from the harbour washing over the district as Sebastian came to a stop in an old brick alley. The rougher end of the city always felt more like home to the young teen as he strode out to the main sidewalk and leaned against a wall. Tucking his hands in his pockets, Sebastian propped a foot up as he watched the people walking by, numerous cars making their way through the harbour as they avoided the heavier traffic of Crestwood's main stretch.

"No I already told you..." The angered sound of a man's voice caught Sebastian's attention as he turned his head towards the sound. The man in question was in a tailored business suit, a large cellphone pressed against his head while a briefcase hung loosely in his hand. Surveying the man, Sebastian noted a fat wallet hanging in the man's jacket as a light breeze blew it open. Flinching, Sebastian moved faster than the eye could track as he returned exactly to where he had been standing. The primary difference was a wallet now hanging in his hand as Sebastian thumbed its contents. Pulling the cash out of its folds, Sebastian rushed forward and replaced the wallet before taking off. Counting the bills, Sebastian smirked as the total rolled past three hundred.

Perhaps today was a good day after all.

S E B A S T I A N S C O T T:

11:47 PM, First Day of Class | The Beau, North-East City

Coming to a halt on the rickety patio of a run down house, Sebastian slowly opened the aged screen door being careful not to allow it to slam behind him. Tip toeing into the kitchen, Sebastian lifted a foot slowly onto the bottom step. Gingerly placing his weight on the step, Sebastian cursed every fiber of his being as a loud creak echoed through the quiet house. Suddenly a gust of air hit Sebastian's face as he found a hand around his throat, throwing him into a nearby wall. Cracked drywall dug into Sebastian's back as he struggled to breath against the arm firmly placed against his throat.

"Why are you home so late boy?" The man growled as Sebastian was forced to look his father in the face. The distinctive smell of alcohol flooded Sebastian's nostrils as the drunkard spit landed on his son's face. His spare hand suddenly snaked to Sebastian's pocket as he retrieved the remaining cash from the boy's pocket. "You've been stealing again boy? Where'd you get this?"

Struggling to speak, Sebastian moved to reply only for his father to cuff him across the head.

"Holding out on me and your poor mother! Y'know she sobbed herself to sleep when you weren't home again tonight. I had to shut the bitch up just to enjoy my drink." He smirked as Sebastian began to struggle against his grip. Balling his hands into fists, Sebastian began to swing at his father only for the drunkard to darkly chuckle.

"You want to hurt me boy? C'mon then!" Rex Scott taunted as he moved again, using the momentum of his speed to toss Sebastian across the room. Crying out as he collided with a tall lamp, sparks illuminated the dark room as shards of glass embedded themselves in skin already covered in scars and bruises. "Come at then boy!" Rex yelled as Sebastian struggled to his feet.

"I hate you!" Sebastian screamed as he turned and dove for the window, the glass shattering as the boy took off into the night leaving his home behind.

S E B A S T I A N S C O T T:

7:00 PM, Day of the Dance | Mather Memorial High School

Music echoed from the school's gymnasium as Sebastian entered. Having dodged the entry fee thanks to his speed, Sebastian had a few dollars left in his pocket should he require any refreshments. With a metabolism like his, Sebastian had to eat quite often. Feeling down the edge of his new threads, Sebastian couldn't help but think they looked better on him than they had on the mannequin in the window. Strutting down the dance floor, Sebastian eyed up a group of seniors as they entered in costumes. He had forgotten this was that type of dance, but he wouldn't have dressed for the occasion anyways. Looking around for some familiar faces, Sebastian noted that Mr. Lehrer was one of the dance's chaperone's. Elroy was also naturally here, his arm out of its sling and only lightly bandaged. His attire was rather bizarre beyond that, wearing several different items all patterned with various shapes depicting the moon.

"Lunatic." Sebastian muttered as he found a spot against the wall to lean for the time being.

Belle had to swallow a bundle of nerves as the queue in front of her and Alex shortened rapidly. Music wafted towards them from beyond the entryway and Belle pulled a scrunched-up note from her shoulder-bag as she shuffled forwards again. God, she hoped someone had spiked the punch. She gasped when Alex nudged her side with her elbow.
"Nerves, Belle?" Alex asked, smirking mischievously. She and her date had rendezvoused before meeting Belle, and the short walk to the campus had been a brief exercise in how to make a man feel uncomfortable as possible in as few glances and giggles as they could muster. It had been entertaining, and after a brief interim outside the campus where Belle had suddenly become the uncomfortable one, the date had gone ahead to meet a few friends and the two girls had joined the queue.
"Always, Alex. You know how I get with crowds."
"I know, but this is different. You're practically buzzing."
Belle shrugged, looking at Alex from the corner of her eye. "I made some friends in that new class I'm in. I guess it'll be nice to socialize outside of school."
"Even if we're still technically in school?" Alex replied, Belle chuckling at her response. The queue moved forward again, the girls paid their entry fee, and then they were through into the main hall.

They were in the hall barely ten seconds before Alex had crossed the room to grab some punch for the pair of them, flitting past her date at the same time. Belle swept her gaze across the room, scouting out familiar faces. There were a few braver souls on the dance floor, but everyone else was staying within their personal circles, near the edges of the room, occasionally venturing forth to greet others or to refill on punch and snacks.

She noticed Mr. Lehrer first, giving a beaming smile as he nodded towards her - she had grown quite fond of him over the course of the week as she attended more Social Conscious classes - and then Elroy, arm on the mend and outfit appropriate, if odd. He looked queasy. She saw Sebastian leaning against the wall, a darkness brewing on his face, and gave a polite wave as they matched gazes.
"Oh my god, are you waving at Sebastian Scott?" Alex asked, scoffing incredulously as she returned with punch and an armful of appetisers. "You know he's like, top casanova-wannabe, right? You didn't-"
"No, Alex, of course not." Belle replied, giggling as she cut her best friend off. "He's just in my class. I don't think I get on with him very well."
"You get on with everyone, Belle. It's your thing. You don't like to upset the beehive."
Belle shrugged. "It's easier to be kind than to be cruel." She said, taking a sip of her drink. No one had spiked it yet, she could taste, and she was almost disappointed. Students kept trickling in to the hall, and she scanned every face, looking for Aiden or Rita - someone friendly, at least.

Lunatic Dance | Mather Memorial High School

The white ruff scratched at Tavia's throat, but she was sure she'd get used to the feel of it after a while. A little itch meant nothing to having a good costume. Especially seeing as Kat and Anthony, who'd came over to her house so they could all go together, looked the same if just a little bit whiter. As she put on the final touches of her costume, retro-reflective ruffles and all, Anthony painted a waning crescent moon on his cheek, a waxing crescent on Kat's, and a full moon in the middle of Tavia's forehead. It was the only theme thing the two on either side of her did.

Instead of springing her abilities on them the night of the dance, Kat drove them to school in her tiny car. Tavia huffed in the backseat, surrounded by practically glowing fabric, crossing her arms. The two in front of her were busy chatting about whatever the hell people like them talked about and instead of putting music on, Anthony had them listening to some podcast about... she wasn't even listening, it was so boring.

As they parked, Tavia opened the door and sprung out from the backseat before the car stopped and slammed it shut. Dramatics were probably not a good idea in the shoes she was in, but having her friends focused on the dance and not on whatever was always good in her books.

"If you ever die because of that," Kat said, "I'll be singing "I told you so"s on your grave."

Tavia snorted and hooked her arms through theirs, saying, "Fight me."

Anthony spotted some friends closer to the front of the line and pushed through other people on his way to get to them. Tavia and Kat had no choice but to follow along as their arms were still hooked together but it wasn't like they were complaining about not waiting as long to get in.

Once they paid and got inside, Kat immediately pulled them towards the food. As they filled up their cups and grabbed snacks, Anthony said, "I still don't know why you come to these things."

Tavia shrugged and stole a chip from his plate. "Dunno, they're fun, ain't they?"

Kat wrinkled her nose as she sipped from her cup. "We've all got better things to do than go to a school dance."

They headed towards the standing tables along the wall, Tavia making sure to keep the two latched onto her or else they'd wander off. Anthony, a little annoyed by the uncomfortable height of the table, dragged a chair over, saying, "You don't even get to actually dance or anything. Unless you've taken up grinding?"

Tavia grimaced and stole another chip from him. He and Kat shared a Look and then looked incredibly smug at her. She hated the Look. Like, like, what was that word she'd heard them say before? Commiser- something? Whatever. "You don't even win best costume, Tavi."

Leaning against the wall, she rolled her eyes at her favorite social morons. "It's not about winnin' and it's not about dancin', you two. S'about the experience." She needed better friends. More entertaining friends at least.

"Sure, sure," one of them said, sharing another Look, god they were so similar. As Tavia was starting to get bored, Kat pulled two small books out of her stupid big purse, the traitor. Immediately, her and Anthony's attention went directly to their books and Tavia knew she wouldn't be able to pull their attention back to the dance unless it was to tell them it was time to go home. Lightly kicking Kat in the shin, she walked away from the pair.

Sighing fondly, she scoped the room for someone, anyone, to talk to. She saw Jozza. Then Elroy. Some people she didn't particularly know from Social Whatever. She continued scoping the room for someone that would be fun to talk to. Someone who wouldn't be immensely awkward to talk to, that was the goal.

Kenneth Sokolvo

Day of the Dance| Mather Memorial High School

"Hahahaha-" Kenneth laughed as he wiped a tear from his face while he walked down the sidewalk with several friends of his who cracked a few jokes and talked about school. Starting from his left, there was Alex and her boyfriend Michael who were dressed up in garments from the Wild West as they decided it was just a costume party and were having fun with it. Then to his right was Marion and Nickoli whose skin reflected light off perfectly like dolls and they were dressed up like that as well which was their theme. Pretty eerie as they were inspired by Dollhouse by Melanie Martinez. Together the three groups all went to each other houses to help out with each other's costume and provide critique on what they liked or what could be improved. After various amounts of time on preparing each costume, they had finally finished so it could be worn to the dance.

The costume that Kenneth decided to make, headed off into a different direction for the traditional scary for something more unique in the tradeoff. Coming up with the idea to make a steampunk outfit which would serve the theme very well, it no doubt burnt some cash in the savings and time to invest in setting it all up. It was all worth it as he fixed his brocade vest which was the decorated piece of the outfit with intricate designs that vaguely looked like bronze gears on a black backdrop. The intricate designs furthermore glowed a luminous yellow that had been used in a black light party before and would be useful tonight in the dark. Shifting his vest as best he could with the restraint of the leather harness, moving the trench coat he was wearing which had a punkish look for its simple yet fitting style while resting open on top of the vest. With one of the shoulders being noticeably covered by a metal shoulder plate with a red hand-print before extending down by the extension of several other plates as it reached the very tip of his hand before encased in a gauntlet. Finishing off the iconic style with the traditional top hat, attached with a pair of goggles that accented the look along with several other smaller things in his outfit. Such items were like the pocket watch that was slipped into his pocket and the ring that was slide onto the leather glove on the opposite side of the metal gauntlet or perhaps the dark leather boots which matched with the theme.

The costume was certainly complex and no doubt stuffy but it was the price to simply look good, as the group finally got into the line that was out of the door. With Kenneth fidgeting around as he finally placed on the mechanical looking contacts which glowed a pale blue in the dark along with the warm light of the yellow vest. However, that wouldn't do as Kenneth focused a little bit of his power for a little subtle use, making his eyes gleam vibrantly and glow in the darkness. Placing a dull yellow masquerade mask over his face with small details onto the metal that barely visible under the light of his glowing eyes. Finishing adding the final touch to his costume, he resumed to chat on with the group and move slowly ahead as they approached the front of the line, wondering what was taking so long before finally paying at the front door and entering inside. Looking around at the different costumes that were already inside and comparing some of the most interesting ones.

Kenneth's own glowing figure didn't distract him, but it gathered the attention of many people and even fewer who complimented him on the 'contacts' which was partially true and clothing. Checking himself out to make sure everything was in place, the warm glow of his vest was still fine as it was partially covered by his coat. His eyes were also fine, as they radiated a chilling pale blue that were too ethereal to not look at for a second time or stare into underneath his mask. Smiling once again when he brush off some imaginary dust off his shoulder, he continued to walk around the room until saw some of his friends. There were some who dressed up which he complimented and those who didn't who he stuck his tongue out and talked to briefly before disappearing back into the crowd as best he could. Having his heavy footstep follow one after another, looking through the crowd of people to see the competition that he was facing.

Moving his way through the crowd, he gave a brief welcoming to several of his classmates like Belle and exchanged a few words before leaving her to search for costumes. Elroy was one of those who dressed up and in which Kenneth talked to briefly and complimented on his costume before slipping out for reconnaissance again. Spying Sebastian Scott leaning against the wall, Kenneth would have said hello but he simply didn't and gave a simple wave to the other boy. The vibes off him were enough to keep Kenneth away for now and he continued his search onward, looking at the individual outfits that were at the Dance. Then something caught his eyes literally with a glowing dress that was, in fact, something pretty neat, taking a chance to see who it was. The person wearing it was not so surprising, as Tavia always seemed to have a handle over fashion, and it showed but nevertheless the dress was unique.

Waving to Tavia for a second "Hey Tavia, what a nice dress you have." He complimented before delivering a dramatic pose as if contemplating the dress, rubbing his chin for added effect. Twirling his finger after some examination as if an order to spin for him but with a twirl from his heel, he spun up from his crouching position to leaning forward towards her and playfully asked with his glowing eyes filled with intent. "Anyone else you've seen that may be competition? I know a few of our classmates aren't as motivated as either you or me-" Giving a quick glance to Sebastian in particular as he leaned against the wall "But Winter and a few others in our class seem to be competing but I can't find her... Hmmm..." He said before making a futile attempt again to find her (or her nemesis Trinity and in general other people who were at Tavia's level which so far took the competition he saw so far). "Anyway on the side note, this dance seems way too sleepy... Hopefully, someone will shake it up a bit." He said wistfully as he barely saw anyone on the dance floor save for a few brave individuals.

Day of the Dance - Mather Memorial High School

It took time and a hell of a lot of effort, but her costume was done and she was SURE it was unique and outrageous enough to give Trinity a run for her money. She went to the store to buy her items. She had to scour the mall, and even the costume shop, to find what she needed, but in the end, she managed to find everything. Money was no object, after all. She also asked the help of the resident electronics expert to make the effects both safe and reliable. In the end, the product was well worth it. How many people could say that have a wearable billboard on their body. The dress depicted whatever she uploaded to the program installed. It was a short number that was low-cut (if it helped get her points, she would do it). The program was installed on the inside bottom of her dress. She did her hair up with short electrical cables. She wore black hose and black high heels near to the point of danger, but short enough to dance in. She chose a few images on her computer and uploaded them to her dress design. She started off with a simple design, an all red number with some glitter, before she stepped out to get to the dance. Her electrical friend offered to give her a ride, provided he was allowed to stay for the event. She gave her ok and the two made their way.

She met her "friends" outside of the dance. They were gathered in various heaps. The jock guys wore simple costumes, one decided that to be outrageous he would make a "fake boner" in his sport pants and wore a wife beater shirt. Some other guys wore their football attire to it. The girls, at least, made more of an effort, but none that really stood out. Trinity, though, was there in her get up. She decided to be outrageous she would wear literal dollar bills in the form of a dress. She also dyed strips of her hair white. It was impressive, perhaps she thought she could bribe her way to victory. Trinity gave her the once over before she sneered, whispered something probably hateful to another girl, and walked over to her. "Oh Winter ,sweetie. It's supposed to be the lunatic dance. That dress, while lovely, just isn't good enough." She offered fake sympathy that Winter met with a smile, "Just you wait Trinity, the night has only just begun." She walked off inside, despite Trinity's gasps. The others followed suit, partially to get inside to actually see the dance, but also because they were curious as to what her plans were.

Once inside, Winter looked around. She saw familiar faces, Sebastian against the wall, being the typical loner, Tavia was talking to Kenneth. Tavia's dress was really well done, it never crossed her mind to consider her a rival. Anyone that could dethrone Trinity though was good in her eyes. She met some glances with smiles, especially those she had in her Social Conscience class. However, the dance was severely lacking. The DJ was putting on music, but hardly anyone was getting down, save for a few people. She decided now was the perfect time to unleash her own costume. She walked up to the DJ and asked for the microphone. He looked at her like she had three heads, but she promised him it would be worth it. He was to play the danciest beat he had at her cue. She walked up, took the remote for her dress in hand, and tapped the microphone, Mather Memorial High School. What is this? This is a school dance. We need to see some energy in here! At that, she pressed the button and her dress turned off. Showing an all black number. She looked over to Trinity whose eyes widened. She continued, "Now, I see some great costumes out there. Like Tavia, you go girl! And Trinity..well...Trinity tried to be original. Let's give her a round of applause everyone!" She started clapping and a few others followed suit, but she pressed a button and her dress turned back on to an image of an audience letting out a riotous applause. Sound included. The others that clapped quickly stopped. She pressed on, "Now, it's a dance, so I say, let's dance! She waved at the DJ who turned the music on blast. She pressed a button again and her dance lit up with multi-colored lights that spun around. She moved to the dance floor and began dancing along to the beat. She waved some others over to join her, a few girls ran up to dance and the jocks did the shuffle. She eyed Trinity, whose glare would have killed her if she let it, but it didn't matter. She felt she finally overshadowed the Queen Bee. Even if she didn't win, she knew Trinity would remember this day. And heck, she got people dancing and enjoying the night. She was sure even Mr. Lehrer was wowed by her costume. She had a few more images to get through (one, especially, if she won). She would have to thank her electronics friend later.

First Day of Class, Mather Memorial High School

Evander was thankful that they were walking in silence, through the halls. He was silently hoping that Emily would forget about the school dance. Oh how wrong he was. “So, so, the dance! You’re coming right!” Emily quickly brought up the school dance that happened annually. He should’ve known. She was too excited about events that it would be a miracle if she forgot about it. Noticing Evander looking away from her, as if not wanting to reply, made her speak again, “Right?” Evander risked to look back at Emily only to be met by pleading eyes, like a puppy begging for attention and food.

Evander breathed out a heavy sigh into the scarf, if not, then Emily would have noticed the near white breath that would only happen when it was cold. But currently, it wasn’t. He had to be careful around her. He then placed his hands inside his pockets and then replied, ”You wouldn’t let me not go to the ball anyway.”

Emily giggled, “That’s true.” She was getting more and more blunt everyday that passed. He was really appreciating that. With all the secrets he’d been keeping from her and almost everyone else, her honest presence was refreshing for him. “You’ll help me with what I’m planning right?”

”With your cupid personality or your own love story?” Evander asked. He was well aware of Emily’s little ‘cupid journeys’ when she hooks up her friends with their crushes and see where it goes from there. She enjoys it so Evander always tried to help when he could.

"Both?" She replied unsurely. The two continued back and forth until they reached Emily's house and Evander proceeded to go to his own house.

Day of the Dance - Mather Memorial High School

Evander should've guessed that Emily would decide to get him as her date for the night after she failed to approach the apple of her eye. Although while they walked to the dance, they only conversed about how to get her and that other guy together and her friend with another guy together. He wasn't sure why he should even worry about these things, but for the sake of paying her back, he'll be willing to do it.

Upon entering the hall, however, he was immediately starting to regret his decision. Perhaps it was the lights, the sounds or the crowds of people, but he knew he wasn't going to bode well with this if he went with the flow. He eyed Emily who squirmed her way inside and she grinned at him. She was going to start to say something when someone spoke onstage. Evander's eyes trailed to the person and there stood that Queen Bee's rival, Winter. Impressive, very impressive. He couldn't help but smile at that. The crowds made their way to the dance floor and Evander instinctively distanced himself from it.

Emily grabbed his sleeve and she mouthed something along the lines of, "You going to be okay?" He simply nodded and then gestured for her to go and get to the guy. She grinned at him before slinking off and leaving him alone. Okay, finally, he didn't need to stick around. Evander took some punch and then went near the wall of the hall and just stood there, watching the students as they danced. He'd only have to move if he was interacted with, or if Emily stumbles back to seek help. The latter was more likely to happen though.

Noting the various familiar faces entering the school's gymnasium, Sebastian reluctantly waved back at the few who acknowledged his prescence. But it wasn't until Winter entered the party that Sebastian took a vested interest in the happenings of the dance. A mischievous smile crossed his face as Winter threw the party into gear and entered the dance floor.

"Rita'll be sorry she missed this." Sebastian muttered as he produced a small bottle of his Dad's favourite Jamaican rum from within his jacket. Zipping over to the punch bowl, Sebastian pulled the whole bottle into the bowl before quickly stirring it with his finger and running back to his original spot against the wall. Watching Winter enter the dance floor, Sebastian kicked himself off the wall and moved through the crowd. Licking his hand, he slicked back his hair and made his way into the DJ's booth. Quickly queuing up a popular slow song, Sebastian left the booth before the stoned hobbyist the school budget could afford even realized he had been there.

Moving quickly between the crowd of people now on the dance floor due to Winter's actions, Sebastian spotted the attractive blonde and moved in.

"Mind if I cut in." Sebastian stated as he bumped another male out of the way, he took a hold of Winter's hands and assumed a traditional Waltz as he began to lead the girl to the music.

"Might I just say, that is one hell of a dress." Sebastian said with a smirk.

Standing along the edge of the gymnasium, Jonas watched the various students enter the dance floor. Noting the members of his pet project specifically, Jonas was pleased to see so many of them out at the dance. What was concerning him more at the moment however was the look on Elroy Bain's face as the senior was leaning against a wall, grimacing in pain.

"Elroy." Jonas started as he walked over to the boy. "Perhaps we could get you somewhere away from the noise for a bit? The dance has only just started and you won't be needed until ten for the judging."

"Yeah, might be a good idea." Elroy replied, his voice strained as he stood up and followed Jonas out of the gym.

The snarling beast paced back and forth as its master stood solemnly watching the flickering lights emitting from the school. The cold autumn winds whipped the man's long coat around as leaves were blown into the air but his hood stayed firmly in place covering his face in a long shadow.

"Why hasn't my boy changed yet?" Growled the beast as it paced back and forth angrily, its long claws raking the ground with each pass.

"The first transformation always takes the longest." The shadowed man replied. "But the boy will transform, and when he does that institute will become a perfect example of why only the strong survive. Your boy will bring me what I want and then the two of you will be free to hunt under the Blood Moon." The man continued, motioning to the sky as the clouds shifted to reveal the large sanguine orb in the sky as its light seemed to shine directly on the school. "Patience my wolf, soon the cub will return to your pack."

Throwing back its head in a howl, the echo of the pack seemed to come from all around the school as the chorus of the night rang out through the night.

Two Days before the Dance | Local Crafts Store

The peach idea didn’t float with Adrielle. Instead, Brynn found herself shopping around for more miscellaneous materials than she could count on both hands over the weekend since Adrielle—despite her work ethic when it came to homework—had been decided procrastinate on her costume. “Did you get everything yet?” Brynn asked, checking her phone impatiently as Adrielle rifled over the shelves.

“Give me one more minute,” Adrielle said, rummaging through the items on the shelf. Brynn sighed, preparing another lecture about how Adrielle should have just gone along with the fruit idea and spared herself so much trouble, but her friend straightened up with a crazy grin before she could start. “Found it! I knew I saw it around here sometime. This is going to be a-maz-ing!”

“I’ll bet,” Brynn said, shaking her head with an amused smile. As annoyed as she was at her friend sometimes, she couldn’t help but find the quirky girl hopelessly endearing at times. “Okay now. Let’s head back—I plan on finishing a little homework before I start pouring my life into decorating the gymnasium, thank you.”

“Alright alright, Executive Reyes,” Adrielle teased, picking up a neon green feather boa from a nearby stand and wrapping it around her friend’s neck. “There you go: everything you need to become the perfect crazy aunt.”

“Adrielle!” Brynn shrieked, giggling as she shrugged the terribly ticklish scarf of bird molt off. Looking back at her friend, Brynn groaned. “Please no.”

“Oh yes,” Adrielle said, crazy grin back again. “Prepare to be… Feather-fied.”

“I hate to admit it but,” Brynn said, staring at her reflection in the mirror with wide eyes, “I think you’ve really outdone yourself.”

“No, really?” Adrielle asked, rolling her eyes at her friend before bringing the metallic gold powder-coated brush back towards her face to finish applying her eyeshadow. The mirror revealed the Adrielle Maynard design of the day: a sleeveless bodysuit that had been coated with holographic sheets that were layered in long strips to look like metal armor. A few larger pieces flared down from below her waist to make the bodysuit a minidress, wrapping from left to right diagonally to make the hem. Adrielle had insisted that Brynn put the dress on first—years of friendship guaranteed that Adrielle’s designs would fit, nevermind how she got the measurements—so that she could finalize the finished product in her head. “What do you think?” the dressmaker asked, walking over and nodding at her own creation approvingly. “Good fit.”

“If that’s the only compliment you can give yourself, we have bigger problems,” Brynn said, spinning around yet again in the mirror. “Seriously Adri, how long did you spend on this?”

Adrielle laughed, wrapping an arm around her friend. “Too long, Brynn, but it was worth it. Besides, how else am I going to get a break from the hardest year in high school?” Adrielle took another look in the mirror before patting her friend’s shoulder and guiding her towards the seat in front of her armoire. “Now, make-up and hair.”

“Oh my,” Brynn groaned, eyes flicking to the clock hanging to the side of the mirror, “how long is this going to take?”

“Perfection isn’t magic, alright?” Adrielle said, comb and gel out. “Take a deep breath!”

“You’re so lucky the council decided to set up in the morning rather than the afternoon,” Brynn said, slamming the door to her car and walking briskly towards the gymnasium. Adrielle exited the car with a laugh, jogging a little to catch up with her irritated friend.

“Calm down, Brynn. You’re allowed to be late—ever heard of the phrase ‘fashionably late?’ You should try it sometime,” Adrielle said, keeping up a surprisingly fast pace for someone in four-inch heels. While she rolled her eyes, Brynn wasn’t mad at her friend at all. The costume aside, Brynn’s makeup—a deep forest green accentuated with silvery-white whenever possible—and hair—a physics-defying updo that weaved her natural blonde hair with strips of temporary viridian-stained locks—were on point.

“The costume really is amazing, Adri,” Brynn said as the pair entered the gym. Multicolored lights flashed through the darkness, illuminating the dancing bodies. “As you are” by The Weeknd was playing, and the figures on the dance floor had mostly separated into pairs.

“Of course it is,” Adrielle said confidently. Laughing, Brynn waved to their circle of friends and walked over.

The night of the dance, The McKenna Household

Dinner in the McKenna household had become something of a solemn fair in recent months. Each night, the tragedy played out in the same way: Hugh McKenna moved his cutlery with military precision, clinking against the china with force as his eyes fixed themselves upon the wall-mounted T.V. set. With each mouthful, he said nothing. Amélie McKenna sipped droplets of wine from her glass in between each dainty bite, looking between her husband and son awkwardly in search of some conversation. She would clear her throat, but say nothing. And of course, Aiden, who barely ate any of the food his parents put before him. He had previously at least made some effort to show interest in the meals, moving the meat around his plate laboriously, but tonight even this charade had dissipated. Instead, he simply sat, and said nothing. In fact, the solitary audible voice in the whole house belonged to the news anchor, whose face illuminated the television screen.

"And finally, police have issued a statement this afternoon regarding the recent fire in the Mather Memorial Park, which left a good portion of woodland destroyed," he said, with the same plastic tone worn by any anchor in the country. Images of the charred site panned across the screen, as well as footage showing firefighters battling the blaze on the night of the incident. "The mystery surrounding the fire has led to a multitude of rumours circulating the local community as to how it might have started, but a representative of the force today confirmed that they suspect this to be a work of arson."

It was as if time froze, as Hugh McKenna choked briefly on something he was swallowing, and his wife's gaze darted up to the previously-ignored monitor. Aiden's own eyes remained focussed on the untouched meal before him. The rest of the anchor's words seemed to blur into gibberish as the programme ended, leaving Aiden's parents locked in an uncomfortable stare; their eyes had all the conversation that their silence prohibited. Finally, Hugh took the plunge and cleared his throat.

"Son, I, uh--"

"I knew it," he said, his voice louder than anyone at the table expected. "I fucking knew it!" He pushed himself away from the table angrily. "The second there's a fire, all eyes are on me. You said you understood!" he yelled, as he tore through the kitchen towards the door.

"Aiden, dear, we never said--"

He paused, turning to face his parents. "Cut the shit, mom. You don't have to say it."

"Do not speak to your mother that way!" Hugh bellowed, rising to his feet.

"You guys think I'm so fucking dumb," Aiden hissed. "Well, maybe you were right, cuz I sure as hell fell for it when you guys said you trusted me. I'm outta here." he said, before marching out of the house, slamming the door behind him. Amélie fanned herself frantically, trying to fend off the sudden heat of the kitchen as she wiped sweat from her brow. For a moment, it was silent again - save for the adverts rolling on TV.

"He'll be fine," Hugh almost-whispered as he slumped back in his seat. "Give him time to cool off."

Amélie looked at her husband with a mixture of fear and desperation. "Hugh, you don't think he actually..? You know..."

The man held up a hand to silence his wife. "I don't know, honey. I don't know."

Later that day, Mather Memorial Park

Aiden was still reeling from his outburst some hours later. He didn't even remember the specifics of the argument, or even his journey to the park; as was often the case when his anger got the better of him, Aiden had run on adrenaline and paid little thought to what he was actually doing. Now, the burnt smell of levelled woodland filled his nostrils as he walked as innocently as possible past what was now a crimescene, with several investigators scouring the earth for clues. Aiden shuddered at the thought, and continued to walk.

He hadn't been walking for very long when he saw the school emerge before him, and was surprised to find it lit up with activity at this hour of night. What was going on?

The dance. He'd not even entertained the idea of attending the function, and so he'd completely forgotten about it altogether. He had more important things to worry about after all. He turned down a path, to walk along the perimeter of the campus whilst still affording himself the cover of woodland. He didn't want to be spotted by any students, and he certainly was in neither the mood nor the attire for any sort of dance.

Aiden had been walking for about ten minutes, and the school was still very much in view. It was illuminated beautifully tonight, the burnt orange moon casting a kind glow over the campus that ameliorated a lot of the flaws it had by day. Aiden had always loved the blood moon; it had a certain sense of theatre to it, seeming by its very nature to tap into something supernatural. He knew he'd seen too many movies, but it didn't stop his imagination from running away with itself. In a sense, he was grateful, because the time he spent pondering vampires and witches acted as a distraction - from both his anger, and his guilt. He was old enough to not be scared of such monsters, but it was always exciting to think about what might lurk in the night.

And so of course, he was suitably unnerved when he heard it: long, loud and unmistakable, piercing through the night. A howl. It seemed to call out for answers, and it certainly received them as several other blood-chilling cries echoed in the dark. One or two in particular seemed more than a little too close for comfort, as though they were coming from deeper within the wood. Be it wild dogs or gang members that were marking their prey, Aiden swiftly became panicked. Bolting out of the trees, the school suddenly seemed much more appealing as he sprinted across the campus green towards the old building.

By the time he reached the gymnasium, he was panting heavily and gasping for air. He hid behind the building and tried to regain composure; the plan was simple, he would sit here for a few hours until the ball came to an end. That way, there were plenty of people nearby in case any trouble emerged, but he was unlikely to be found or bothered by anyone he actually knew. Then, when the party ended, he would slip into the crowd and make his way home. It was perfect.

Except, it wasn't. For within seconds, a little-used back door to the gymnasium was opened, and two figures emerged from the party. Aiden recognised them immediately as Elroy and Professor Lehrer. Grimacing, he became painfully aware of how suspicious his position would seem: a student clearly not dressed for the event, hiding behind the gym and clearly shaken. He cleared his throat awkwardly.

"Hello, Mr. Lehrer," he said meekly, shuffling his feet as he awaited whatever scolding the new teacher had in store for him.

Night Of The Dance

Rita had been blowing off her parents for the rest of the week, ignoring their calls and going pretty much awol from them. She couldn't stand them this week, not with all the shit going on with school. Not after she 'accidentally' tore the door of her father's BMW in a fit of anger, even if luckily, her dad never found out that she was the one who had done it, he only found the wrecked door on his lawn in the morning. She was angry, and she needed to punch someone - or something.

She had done her makeup in order to look 'scary'. Black around her eyes, like she had been crying out her makeup, and made her skin even paler than it was normally. She worse a skintight white dress that ended by her thighs - way too short to be fit for the high school's liking, she was sure, but that was kind of the point, after all. She also bought ten inch heels, but she decided last minute to skip those, instead putting on her regular combat boots. Her hair was made to look messy, instead of the straight look she usually kept, making sure she looked as messy and ghostly-as she possibly could. As she had been leaving Georges apartment, she thought of a couple of finishing touches, with red lipstick she drew a big fake smile on her cheeks, as well as putting on a lunar-necklace around her neck, so she could at least pretend to care about the theme of the dance.

Once she arrived at the dance floor, she let out a loud sigh. The Weeknd? That's the kind of shit they want us dry-humping each other to? She grabbed a red cup, and cursed the fact that there was no way there was booze at this place.

Then, out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse, and a stroke of genius hit her. She poured half the glass with the punch, and marched onto the dance floor, where she grabbed Sebastian by the arm. "Cutting in, you don't want to deal with this fuckboy, anyway." She dragged Seb to the side of the room, and pushed him to the wall. "I will go crazy if I have to stay sober the entire night. Where's the god damn booze, Scott?" She hissed

She was dancing to the music, The Weekend's song was blasting when her partner, or rather some guy who was dancing really close to her, was pushed aside and who of all people but Sebastian offered her to dance. Before she could respond he grabbed her into a waltz-like dance. She couldn't help but giggle thinking this rebellious bad boy would slow dance with her. She couldn't help but be flattered. He was, after all, incredibly good looking.

She blushed at his compliment, "Thank you. It took a lot of work, but I think it turned out well. I'm surprised to see you here, I wouldn't have pegged this as your typical haunt." She continued to dance with him until Rita stormed over and pulled him away. She couldn't mask the disappointment on her face, but Rita seemed to really need him. She didn't peg Rita as the type to be at the dance either, so perhaps two birds of a feather, and all that. She stepped off the dance floor she got packed and looked around. She spotted Aiden talking to Mr. Lehrer and Elroy. She remembered how quickly Aiden left their class the first day. She felt obligated to make sure the boy was all right. She made her way over to the three, waving and high-fiving a few people who paid her a compliment. She also made it past Trinity, who was more than likely bad-mouthing her to her friends, and did the standard "I don't give a f-ck" hair flip as she walked past her. She could feel her burning holes in the back of her head. It made her feel fantastic.

As she neared them, she smiled and bid her greetings to the three men.

Giving Winter a crooked grin as she accepted both his compliment and dance Sebastian replied to her statement. "I'm up for just about anything that gets me out of the house and allows me to see you again." He replied with an air of confidence. Not one for getting nervous around a girl, Sebastian knew what he liked and what he wanted although having seen Winter over the past week there was something about her that made him slightly question his actions. For starters, why had he chose a slow song? Sebastian was one of the last people known for going slow. He was usually the type to grind up on a girl to give them an idea of what to expect after they left the dance.

"Oh and I'd avoid the punch if I were you." Sebastian warned feeling the foreign sensation of guilt washing over him. "I saw someone spi-" He was cut off as a familiar hand took him by the leather collar, interrupting the young man mid sentance before he found himself hauled off the dance floor.

"What the damn hell bitch tits?" Sebastian exclaimed, all illusion of charm dropped as his vulgar mouth came back to play. "I was as smooth as butter out there, did you get jealous? You want me back don't you." He smirked before Rita delivered a quick punch to his arm. Hissing at him, she demanded alcohol as Sebastian rolled his eyes and reached into his jacket once again producing a small bottle.

"Jack's?" He asked with a smirk and a raised eyebrow. Catching sight of Mr. Lehrer and Elroy suddenly leaving the gym, Sebastian nodded his head there way before taking a swig and passing the bottle to Rita. "Where do you figure they're off to? Didn't even take Lou with them." Sebastian added as he jutted his chin towards Elroy's boyfriend who was pacing back and forth as the other male was escorted from the room.

"Looks like Lou Pine's going to be less than fabulous tonight!" Sebastian grinned as he flopped a hand forward in an outdated stereotype. Suddenly Lou tore out of the dance floor clutching at his ribs as he made a beeline for the bathroom, practically falling as he stumbled through the door.

"Must have drank too much punch." Sebastian muttered as he took the bottle back from Rita and took another swig.

"Hello Aiden." Jonas replied as the young man approached meekly. His body language said he was expecting a reprimand from the teacher but Jonas couldn't think of a reason why Aiden would be expecting such a thing. "If you're not busy at the moment I could use some help getting Elroy to the nurse's office. I can't seem to remember where it is at the moment."

Suddenly an anguished cry echoed through the school's corridor before it was followed by a crash. A chorus of screams rang out from the front of the gym as a wolf like creature burst out of the men's bathroom letting loose a strained howl. Shoving Aiden towards Elroy, Jonas' voice turned to steel as he issued an order.

"Run! Get out of here." He urged as he rolled up his sleeves, strange intricate tattoos decorated his exposed arms as they slowly began to glow as Jonas braced himself for the beast.

The front doors of the gym suddenly exploded as large humanoid wolves tore into the school. Sebastian barely had time to spit out the swig of alcohol in his mouth before he moved to dodge a large swipe of a wolf man's long claws.

"What the damn hell is in this stuff?" He asked looking at the bottle only for the beast to smash it from his hand causing Sebastian to move again, nearly falling over due to the alcohol in his system.

"Rita, please tell me you're seeing the Teen Wolf rejects currently in the school lobby?" He asked as people ran each and every where, screams echoing throughout the gym, barely audible above the blaring music. The wolves moved into the gym, circling the outside as they began to herd the students towards the center. Watching as one moved towards Winter, Sebastian sprung into action as he moved faster than Rita could blink and scooped Winter up. His momentum carried them both up the wall, safely to the mezzanine where the school's work out area looked down upon the gym proper.

"You okay?" Sebastian asked as he looked down at the gym again. Rubbing his eyes in disbelief, he still couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"Fuck!" Sebastian exclaimed as it hit him. "Rita!"

Day of the Dance - Mather Memorial High School

Evander had long since sat down and just observed the students partying. Emily had come back every now and then to squeal about her new victory on getting two people together. She boasted about possibly getting them to really be together; they just needed a little push in the right direction. But now she was gone again. He saw familiar faces on the dance floor, people like Sebastian, Brynn, Rita and Winter who seemed to have found each other in the mass of students inside.

He had finally relaxed on the chair when the doors opened... no, exploded. Every alarm on his body told him to run and hide. But when he saw who the terrorists were, well, they weren't what he expected. Wolf-like humanoids, werewolves, burst inside and the students started running and panicking.

Although shocked into a moment of disbelief, he did have one name in his mind that made him worry. And that was all that he needed to make him move. He dashed sideward as one of those beasts tried to grab him. He almost tripped, though luckily he managed to regain his footing. Though weaving through panicked students was not the best thing.

Someone bumped into Evander, hard, making him stumble and stop. He regained his footing once more and looked up to see Rita and a bunch of beasts already crowding around them and the other students. He couldn't leave now. Hopefully Emily was safe. "Rita right? You think we have a chance in this mess?" He asked, both hands closed to a fist as ice started to form inside. It would be another unusual chill around the male, but this time colder.
