@SlashInfinite If by risk, you mean dangerous to others, actually not so much. In fact, it's normally not that dangerous. Normally, being the keyword. It's a fairly popular and well-researched branch, but very few advance to a Master rank in it. The danger occurs when you take timefuckery too far. To put it in short words, the universe itself will send hitmen after you, and it won't stop until you're dead.
@shagranoz Sorry about that. I was sure I responded to you . . . Anyway, everything's fine except for the equipment, and the thing she'd sacrifice. For the Book, all I'm really wondering is where it came from. For the sacrifice, I specified something important to her, something she'd at least have some difficulty giving away.
@KiritoAsuna & @Cojemo Great to see you guys on board! If you have any questions just ask!
@KiritoAsuna I only put the "Master" section in the case that the character did have a Master, as Master-Apprentice relationships are a big thing in the RP. It's entirely possible to be self-taught, though a word of advice: Apprentices with Masters are generally more advanced than those without, since they've got a jump-start on their instruction. Still, there are a large number of self taught students as Masters don't grow on trees, most only take a single apprentice, and some don't take an apprentice at all.
It's often said "the quality of the apprentice reflects the quality of the Master" so to speak.
Noah isn't a very muscular person, but what he lacks in muscle, he makes up for in speed. He sits at about 6 foot and 60 kilos (132.277 pounds). His eyes glow a very vibrant red that could almost be seen in total darkness, a distinctive trait among his family. His black hair has hints of crimson streak through it, however his hair is often covered by his iconic red cloak.
Year: Noah came to the university at the age of 8, so he has been attending for 12 years.
Rank: Journeyman
Room No.: 14-B
Personality: Noah is very distant with a lot of people, often only speaking to his Master. He is almost always alone training, however in the last couple of years he has reached out, growing bonds with others, knowing people, speaking. Switching his personality around has made a massive impact on his life as he feels stronger knowing dying would mean leaving people behind.
Magic Discipline: Blood Magic Noah's magic is a lost magic that isn't common among many people as the Mage has to have the trait already in them (With rare exceptions). Blood Magic allows Noah's to manipulate his own blood in a variety of ways to help with offence, defense and even in utility. Fusing his magic with the blood opens up a variety of moves and if learnt, the user can manipulate others blood.
Blood Magic: Boiling Speed - Noah controls his blood in his own body to the point that he can gain spped i his movement, almost twice as fast as any human.
Blood Magic: Dripping Blades - Noah can solidify his own blood, allowing him to create various tools and weapons with his own blood, from swords and daggers to shoes and gloves.
Blood Magic: Crimson Explosion - One of Noah's more deadly attacks and can often lead to ones death, this attack can allow Noah to manipulate anothers blood, causing, if he wished, someones body to explode, or an arm. However he will only use this as a last resort as this attack, causes massive strain on his own body
More will be added over the course of time
Equipment: Noah has two distinctive rings on both of his middle fingers. These have a pin on the underside, allowing Noah to open up his body for his blood to pour out.
Biography: Noah and his Master were as close as ever, teaching each other a new way of living everyday. He had spent 10 years living and learning alongside his Master, so when his Master started acting strange, Noah picked up on it. Noah had kept an extra eye on him, learning his Master was up to evil, Noah couldn't believe it and tried to make sense of it. However, he confronted him and asked him to confess. The master and student engaged in a duel and Noah can't remember the outcome, he came to and his Master was gone but the area surrounding him showed signs of an epic fight and his body felt pummeled. Rumors quickly spread about his Master and because of that, Noah was known as 'The student of Traitors' believed to have helped his Master in his treachery while others believed he killed his Master in combat. Noah hasn't let this get to him much, and instead chooses to train everyday so he is never in a position of weakness again, to protect those he knows, the knowledge the school has and the University he calls Home.
Master: Shade 'The Traitor' Imre
If Noah was forced to sacrifice something important in order to move forward, it would be: He has three things important to him, a necklace of his former Master, the University, and those he has bonds with. He would give the necklace or his life.
If Noah was offered to have a single wish fulfilled, it would be: To fight his Master in combat once again, to get it done right.
And I would love to have 2 characters as I am a die hard roleplayer who can keep 2 going at a time, but I understand that others need to have at least one so Noah (Mage above) is my first submit, and if I'm allowed to have 2, Britney (Mage) below is my second submit :p
Name: Britney Chambers
Age: 18 Years Old
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Britney is a very small girl sitting at 5.5 foot and 55 kilos (121.254 pounds). She has long red hair and her beige suit allows her to both move fast in combat but also maintain slight modesty
Year: Britney arrived at B.U.M at the age of 14, she has been there for 4 years.
Rank: Novice but will take the next step to Journyman
Room No.: 12-B
Personality: Britney is young and so full of hope with her future. She enjoys every day to the fullest and wastes no time on things such as sadness. Her happiness is a disease that spreads to everyone she meets. However, in combat, shes known to be ruthless. She is well liked by most people and Britney hates no person.
Magic Discipline: Gravity Manipulation. Gravity Manipulation allows Britney to control the very gravity an a specific area to her will, whether that be to intensify it and stop a very person from moving, or to lift it, allowing her to jump meters above the ground.
Gravity Magic: Intense Push - This ability allows Britney to push an object or person away from her with force.
Gravity Magic: Weightless Air - Britney can change the space around herself or another and allow for the user or object or another person, to almost jump further then humanly possible.
More will be added over the course of time
Equipment: Britney is known to be a very unique type of fighter as she uses a sword in her fights. In training and fights among others, she uses a non threatening sword however.
Biography: Britney came to B.U.M at the age of 14, and immediately became friends with everyone she came into contact with, her training was also a main priority and as she had no Master, she worked double time to get to where she is. She has fought in a few matches with some of her friends and peers and has one 6 matches and lost 2, causing her to work extra hard to never lose, as she wants to become a Master so she too can spread her knowledge to those who need it most.
If Britney was forced to sacrifice something important in order to move forward, it would be: Britney would give up something close to her, her own limbs if needed.
If Britney was offered to have a single wish fulfilled, it would be: To be a fully fledged Master and to train many new Mages.
Sorry I got this out so late but I hope her bio and the explanation for why she's been in B.U.M all her life is okay.
Name: Lee
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Appearance:Lee towers at five foot nine with a body build more suited to dancing than what she normally does. Her golden locks are normally kept flowing wild and free with a black forehead band keeping it from her face. Her electric blue eyes are usually kept behind either a pair of big, dark sunglasses or a pair of garden safety goggles. Lee's naturally pale skin tone grew tanned due to the many hours she spends underneath the sun.
Lee's clothing style tends to scream a feminine and, yet, rebellious fashion statement. No matter of she's sporting an off-shoulder top or a frilly rose-patterned skirt, Lee cannot be seen without her trademark black and yellow-trimmed suspenders, and spiked choker. She keeps a small terrarium attached to the messenger bag she carries around everywhere.
Year: 13
Rank: Journeyman
Room No.:
Personality: Lee in one word is optimistic. She's as bright as the sun that warms the flowers in her own little garden. She's normally seen with a brilliant grin on her lips and a helping hand extended towards the many students around the school. She makes the most out of everything, choosing to live in the now instead of worrying incessantly about the past or the future. As long as she has the university, Ophelia, and her plants, then she would be fine. But Lee's wrath is as bad as nature itself. Harm any of the things she cares for and your punishment may come in the petty form of thorns in all your breeches or a head-on fight. Although, after she feels that all has been paid in full, she'll smile at you once more and help you up on your feet.
Magic Discipline: Nature Magic. Lee's magic comes from the land itself and the many, many who inhabit it. Users of this form of magic can directly influence and manipulate nature to their advantage, and are able to survive in any natural environment. Lee's magic also allows her to communicate with ease with nature, using the plant life encompassing the school to quickly gather information or trap her opponents. She is also able to control animal life to do her bidding, though this is done through a bonding ritual, and even take the shape of some that she has studied fully. While Lee has some control over natural phenomenon and weather, it is weak and unrealiable due to her lacking strength. Nature also sustains her that she needs very little sustenance after long periods under the sun.
Equipment: A small, bottled terrarium attached to her bag; a bag specially enchanted to allow the stored herbs and plants to maintain their life and freshness; a small journal filled with notes on different kinds of plant life around the school
Biography: Eighteen years ago, a young Novice mage decided to push the limits of his abilities. Late night in one of the many rooms around the university, he gathered his materials, drew up his circle, and began his chant. Had he been able to achieve exactly what it was that he was attempting, he would have been heralded the greatest mage of the age. Alas, true to form, the novice had overestimated his skills. Truly, how could one so young with talents as sharp as a blunted rock even think he would be able to not only summon a deity, but also harness its abilities as his own. When the school officials found him, he was nothing but ashes and only the remnants of his attempt remained. At the very center of his summoning circle floated a small piece of the deity he'd summoned.
The school's professors wasted no time in studying the specimen, noticing very quickly that plant and animal life around the campus grounds quickly decayed. It was a Grandmaster nature magi named Ophelia that was able to piece everything together and strive to resolve it. What the young mage had attempted to summon was a deity of the forest, and a very powerful one at that, that he forcefully ripped from its home to enter his circle. Unfortunately, due to his lacking skills, the summoning circle hadn't been able to hold and tore apart the deity. The scattered parts of the deity flowed through time and space, with one piece of it left behind at B.U.M.
It was a temporary solution, but Ophelia and the other Grandmasters were able to create a human body for the piece to inhabit. Thus Lee - an ageless female human with an affinity for nature - was formed. Unfortunately, her situation had limitations. She has no memory of her existence as a deity; her magic, albeit inherently powerful, cannoy rise to its full potential unless she's once again whole; and lastly, she cannot leave the school grounds as it is its magic that sustains her.
The first five years of her human existence had been spent learning the customs of civilized humans, and much of the years later were used to hone her abilities. It wasn't until the end of her seventeenth year that she was informed of her true existence.
Master: Ophelia, a Grandmaster nature mage who has retired from teaching.. She was the one who helped and took in Lee. The foolish young mage was her son.
If Lee was forced to sacrifice something important in order to move forward, it would be: Ophelia. The old woman is the most important thing in Lee's life as she looks up to her like a mother.
If Lee was offered to have a single wish fulfilled, it would be: to become whole. There has always been a lingering sense of loss within her and now that she knows the resson why, she wants to find the rest of her. If anything, she's excited for the possibility that she might be able to explore the world when she's finally whole.
@Hippo AF Both characters are fine (yes you can have two, but no more than that for now!) though I'll need to see the spells and others completed before accepting.
@Leoven She's fine! Though don't be surprised if I eventually bite into her backstory and play around with it ^_^
TO ALL PLAYERS, YOU MAY NOW MOVE YOUR CHARACTERS TO THE CHARACTER TAB.
I'LL GET THE FIRST IC POST UP ONCE EVERYONE'S FINISHED THEIR SHEETS.
Alrighty my pretties, finished making my CS. Added what was missing, and tried to add some more polishing to the sheet. Hopefully that'll be acceptable as a character.
Name:Allen Strauss Age: 21 years old Gender: Male
Appearance:
A tall and handsome gentleman, Allen stands a bit above 6 feet and weighs around 175 pounds. His silver-colored hair is surely the most striking trait of his self, a proof of an unusual heritage. No matter how hot it is, Allen never seems to show much skin, because underneath shows a lot of his failure experiments: burn marks and scars on his body and arms.
If one would contemplate the back of his hands and somehow get a look at his naked shoulders, one would notice Allen as tattoos printed there. Representing the primordial elements, Allen bears the Fire Symbol on his right hand, the Water Symbol on his left hand, the Earth symbol on his right shoulder and the Air Symbol on his left shoulder. On his chest, just where the heart is located, one could find the Light Symbol, while the Darkness Symbol is located on his back.
Year: 14th year
Rank: Journeyman
Room No.: Allen shares room 33 with 2 other roomates. One is a journeyman by the name of Alec Shneider. The other is a journeyman-ranked tomboyish girl named Anna Smith. While the direction and the boys weren't too keen on having a girl share the same room as two boys, there was a lack of space by that time. By the time space was made available, Anna had decided to stay with the two guys. Some would say that Alec's liveliness and Allen's cooking got reason of her.
Personality: A strong and kind soul, Allen is driven by compassion mixed with knowledge. He lives to learn about magic and takes pride in helping others understand it as well. He is in overall a good person, although he may seem distant and a loner due to his being so often busy with experimenting with his magic. However, when approached, he beams with happiness and never misses a chance to speak with others.
Facing him for the first time, people might be a bit intimidated by just how confident he appears to be, and how knowledgeable he is. But once someone get to know his well, they will know that while he is indeed radiating confidence in himself, he strives to help everyone and make them in turn confident about their abilities.
When facing challenges and threat, Allen always remain calm and keeps his wits about himself. He observes the issues at hand, and tries to find a logic way to solve it. In combat or during sparring sessions, the same train of thought is applied. Assuming one would not know of Strauss’ abilities, he would rather keep an ace up his sleeve, trying to hide the fact he can use multi-elemental magic. As a matter of fact, he will often appears to be a single-elemental magic user, until he can catch his opponent off-guard.
Magic Discipline: Elemental Magic Unlike most magic-user, Allen poured all of his intellect and training into learning all the aspects of Elemental Magic. While he does not hold mastery over a single element, like how Pyromancers or Hydromancers would control fire and water respectively with unparalleled mastery, the young prodigy can use a vast repertoire of spells to compensate for various situations, making him a most versatile caster. To learn about all facets of Elemental magic, it takes a life-long worth of study, hence the reason Allen has been at the university for so long, and is still learning something new everyday.
Elemental magic consists of the following:
Primordial Elements: -Fire: Self-explanatory, fire element consists of summoning fire. Anything heat-based at least requires the use of this element. Fire magic is considered to be the most offensive of the elements. -Water: Everything that consists of water, even ice, encompass tis element. Water magic is a very versatile type of element, ranging from defensive to offensive spells. -Air: Conjuring strong winds and striking down with thunderous lightning bolts, those are mainly what this magic uses. Air magic is often used in quick skirmishes, as spells falling under this type of element are mostly the quickest of all. Earth: An element that encompasses pure defense, earth magic boasts unparalleled toughness and endurance. While there are a lot of offensive spells, earthen mages prefer to rise shields and walls of stone to parry incoming attacks, and counter-attack from these.
Elements of Creation: -Light: Often considered the Element of Life, light magic is all about unraveling secrets, banishing darkness and doubts. Unlike Life magic, light element does not heal, but is especially dangerous to being made of darkness and evil. -Darkness: The opposite of Light, Darkness is the other half of Creation. This element shrouds everything in enigma, confuses those who can’t understand its nature. Unlike Death magic, Darkness does not drain life force away, nor can it be used for necromancy, but it is especially useful to conceal oneself.
At this point in life, Allen has the control over his spells much like an advanced Novice. As a matter of fact, he is nearly as skillful as a Journeyman with every element of his magic. While his magic does seem uncontrolled and rough on the edges, it is mostly because of his vast understanding of magic and his ability to use all the aspects of Elemental Magic he is being considered near Master rank. Most of his teachers tell him that should he attain Journeyman control over all of his spells, he would be granted Mastership.
While most would consider about studying more about a single element and making it stronger, Allen goes further into versatility and is currently learning how to merge elements together. For now, he has absolutely no control over fusing elements together, and as such his attempts to do so have proven to be very chaotic, dangerous even. But his attempts have proven to get better, and is another reason the masters consider the young man near graduate.
Equipment: Several spell tomes, most of which he has written himself, containing knowledge about each element of Elemental Magic, theorems about the existence of Elemental Magic, and fundamentals on magic. But all of these tomes are securely hidden at home. Those tomes are so heavy by themselves that it would be impossible to walk around with this many at all times.
Also, Allen has a pet fox, or rather a familiar would be the better to term to use for it. Going by the name of Kyuu, the white fox is an extension of Allen’s goodwill. It possesses intelligence near of a human, but it can’t speak, nor write. However, it has very sharp senses, and seem to detect whether someone is good or ill-intentioned. In cases of good-willed individuals, Kyuu will seem to grow fond of those people, while encountering bad people will make her hide in Allen’s jacket, snarl or outright spit at such people.
Biography: For as long as he can remember, Allen always was by himself, his only friend being the white fox that followed him around no matter where he went. The young man never knew his parents, nor did he know much about his early life. He only assumed that he was abandoned because he was “different” from most people.
From a very young age, Allen learnt how to survive all by himself. He had learned the rough reality of an everyday worker ever since he was the age of 6. While he did not do much, his young self worked hard to be able to feed himself and his fox pet. It has been like that until he turned 7 years old.
One day, as he was camping out in the wilderness in order to gather some ingredients for the local mages, he was attacked by a bear. Only a mere child, death was all but assured. However, just as the animal was about to maul him, a cloaked figure interposed itself. He did not see what had happened, but the bear quickly fell, as if it had died of a panic attack.
His savior was none other than the woman who would’ve become his master. Whether it was an act out of pity, a simple act of generosity, or something she had seen in the boy, the traveling lady took the boy as her apprentice. For a whole year, they had traveled far and wide, until their steps would lead them to Breakfast University of Magic. While not officially invited to the prestigious establishment, it would seem that Allen’s master was a figure of importance, securing a special permission for the boy to stay at the academy with her until the day he would be able to use his magic efficiently without her aid.
Then, just like that, Strauss was left behind by his master only the day after he had been admitted into B.U.M. Ever since then, Allen had taken example of his master and worked hard every day to hone his magical talents. Not only would he try to live up to his master’s expectations, but he would also try to do the same thing she did to him, teach as many promising students as possible about the wonders of magic, and how to strive in this cruel reality using all of their potential.
Master: Allen’s master has always been a mystery to him. She rarely ever spoke of herself, and besides teaching the young man, she rarely ever spoke to him at all. However, Strauss had learned that his mentor was just like him, a scholar of multiple schools of magic. However, she was more than just a master, she had terrifying control over both Life and Death, proficient at both healing the injured and bringing painful death upon her foes.
Allen never knew the reason she took him as an apprentice, nor why she suddenly decided to leave him behind at the university. Actually, he felt like he was holding her back from her own plans, which would explain why she left him as soon as he manifested a hint of independence in his studies.
Even though his master is shrouded in mystery, Allen will always be grateful for having taken care of him, and showing him the right path to take in life.
If Allen was forced to sacrifice something important in order to move forward, it would be: His love for humanity. With the current goal he has set in life is the pursuit of being the greatest Magi in the world, then he would be ready to cast away his humanity, his love for others and hope in humankind in order to reach his dreams. If Allen was offered to have a single wish fulfilled, it would be: To be one with magic. Simply put, he wants to understand magic at its fullest and be able to use any kind of magic. In the end, he has the ambitious dream of becoming a being of ultimate magic.
Seeing Viola is on her 2nd year, Allen is like overly social and they are both journeymen, perhaps would they be more than acquaintances and more like partners in crime or maybe even good friends.
I like the field trip idea. I can imagine their curiosoty and eagerness to study magic would've brought them into troubles. If it's Viola's style, they could've even spar each other once in a while to put what they have studied together into practice.
That's quite possible, but I'm going to have to keep Viola as a Novice for now. Simply put, the only reason she is, is because of a lack of experience. Which also is a reason she wouldn't exactly be one to spar if she had to.
She isn't a mage that can fling fireballs or spew lightning. She has to actively seek out spirits, or has to be in a place where there's one or two of them to be able to fight. Nature spirits tend to shy away from heavily populated areas I'd imagine, and any other form of spirit such as demons and the like are likely too risky to just summon without a good reason. Does this put her at a great disadvantage? Certainly, but she's going to be summoning/directing types of Undine, Ifrit, and other beings said to be close to be low-class deities, so in the long run she's probably going to be pretty dang powerful.
That is, unless she's contracted a spirit, then she'd be capable of using it at any time she wanted. Which is something I am going to probably resolve quite quickly at the start of the RP. She's probably going to ask to sneak into the forest with him. Heh~
Of course, I'm just going off my own speculation here, if the GM says differently, I can definitely work around it~
@Rune_Alchemist Novices and below are forbidden outright from journeying into the woods I'm afraid. Then again, that's what the Field Trips are for :) So all you need are two people and you can choose a suitable location to go spirit hunting.
. . . out of context, that sounds like prologue of a horror film.
Of note, there are in fact, necromancers studying in the school. It's what the graveyard is for.
You assume Viola cares about the rules enough to not try and find a way to sneak in, hehe~ But yeah...they could find a third person and chose the boring to be good little students and go on a trip~
I suppose a Graveyard might have a low-level spirit or two hanging about...I am unsure. I'll have to see what sort of undead creatures I can find in mythology~
Suppose I could give her a spooky ghost partner for now.
@Rune_Alchemist I wonder though... Since Viola can sense spirits, would she able to realize that Lee's not actually human? Or would deities and spirits be on two different fields?
I'm actually worried about these field trips. I just imagine Lee sitting inside the school borders, looking out at students going to other locations. She'll be like Harry Potter, stuck in a broom closet. xD
Well, I suppose that would depend. While I don't plan on having her summon anything too powerful to start with, I could see her summoning a god of a river or mountain later down the line, or possibly contracting one temporarily if their place of residence was in danger. Such a thing would be dangerous though, and would require a lot of caution on her part, or she's gonna end up dead.
So I suppose the answer is yes, she would probably be able to tell after hanging around her for a bit. I can also see Viola doing just that and helping her put her back together again, just for giggles to see what it'd do.
Also being friends with a god would probably have some pretty nifty perks.
