Candlemon& Mirko Dubrinic
[Forest - Sector 14]The two of them reached soon the clearing where Mirko woke up. There wasnt anything much, the crisp air few trees, definatly no clues on a way home.
"Hm... nothing here." Candlemon concluded sounding a bit disappointed.
"I did say there was nothing around me.""Well it was worth checking it, just in case.""Where do you think we should go from here?""Hm... In that direction is more of a icy place and I know of a really big tree maybe on top of it we could see something... and in that direction I know is a cliff." The rookie pointed around, picking one direction and starting to jump in it. Mirko following him a step behind.
"You really know this sector.""I scouted it, in search for friends."They walked for a while Mirko yawned, he started to feel the toll of skipping half his sleep last night. If he had known he would land a unknow world with apparent digimon creatures around he would have went early to bed and got at least ten hours of sleep.
"Are you hungry?""A bit." Mirko stopped and started to search inside his bag, pulling out a nice plastic yellow box. His lunch box. Opening it he saw a big bacon sandwich and several caramel bonbons. This was sure to give him energy for the rest of the day. He saw the digimon watching him with big curious eyes occasionally sniffing the air. The young boy grinned taking the bacon sandwich and breaking it on half offering one to the rookie.
"Lets share, my mom made me the lunch box. And I think its time around lunch, kinda."Candlemon took the offered food and bit in it, the reaction was hilarious to Mirko. The digimon face shined up and he started to jump around like crazy. Humming prize how delicious it was. Mirko eat his sandwich in few quick bites himself commenting there was rarely anything better than bacon. The reaction to caramel bonbons was even better. Candlemon really loved the sweet threat.
"Does all food taste this good in your sector?""I would say most of it. But you are weird for being this happy about it." Mirko just packed the box back, feeling energized thanks to the sugar. Instead of continuing on his friend the digimon was suddenly stiff. His little flame face was looking off to the side somewhere in concentration.
Candlemon grabbed Mirko suddenly and pulled him behind a thick tree. The wax arm pressed against Mirko mount to stop any possible noise. Mirko could smell the wax strongly and confusedly tried to look behind at the rookie digimon. This was strange and it worried the boy. He froze once he heard some steps. Running. Two weird things were approaching the place they eat at. From the corner of his eyes he could only tell it was a green and white digimon. Their voices reaching them first as they approached.
"...came for you, the moment I overheard it."
"Are you sure thats it was a human?"
"Must be, I heard Mammothmon voice echo calling them that. They even had some device that proved them to be it."
"The traitor digimon is so going to die by stomp. A worthy watch!"
"Yes! Stinky outsider and traitor! Hurry I dont want to miss it..."
The voices keep on talking but Mirko couldnt understand anymore what was being said. They got too far away. Yet the boy stayed still even when Candlemon let go of him to peek around.
"Lets move in the opposite direction than them." The digimon voice cheering up as he jumped in the direction he said, away from where those digimon went.
"Come on Mirko, They were busy and didnt spot us. No need to be scared." Candlemon assumed Mirko stillness was due to fear and not due to realization that was dimming to the boy now. The rookie returned and grabbed Mirko's hand dragging him back into the woods. Mirko was thinking his mind whirling. He let the digimon lead him. The two voices echoed in his ears, replaying the snippet of conversation he heard. He pulled out his pocket the dark red device and stared at it. After some short time Mirko spoke not razing his eyes from the device.
"Candlemon.""Yes?" The data digimon turned his head and flame to look at the boy, slowing down.
"Say are those outsiders you told me about called humans?"Candlemon shrugged turning back to go on, one wax hand still holding Mirko's.
"Dont know. For all I care they can call himself bilbosmon. It really doesnt matter."Mirko stopped, all but planting himself in place, pulling his hand away from candlemon confusing the digimon.
"I think it matters." Mirko said, unable to make himself look at Candlemon, instead opting to stare at the device compass as if it would magically whisk him back home. It didnt.
"I dont see how?" Candlemon said tilting his head the flame face was now frowning.
"What is wrong Mirko? You started behaving weird since we avoided those two digimon. Well more weird, not the fun type weird."Mirko finger pressed the button on the device changing the screen to the snow covered one. Just to do something and not look at his digimon friend. The other told him the army would kill anyone associating with the outsiders when he explained the fractions to him. If humans were the outsiders Candlemon spoke off, than... he was putting candlemon in danger.
"I can go from here on my own. You dont need to help me anymore." He didnt want to hurt his friend or be the cause of his friend death. It was a scary to even think that. He will figure this on his own. He had to, candlemon was already avoiding the war, running away from it since he lost his friend. Being with him would be ruining all of his friends efforts to live peaceful.
"Mirko. "The digimon said taking a loud breath in.
" Say that while you are looking at me." Candlemon tone was a serious one. Mirko still didnt look up, instead his hold on the device in his hand got stronger.
"I had fun today, but we cant travel together. Its best if we go separate ways." "I told you I will help you get home.... or are you saying we arent friends anymore?"There was a flatter in the digimons serious voice. Mirko felt really bad, he didnt want to make him sad. He liked him, he was fun and weird.
"No... I... dont want to be with you because we are friends." Mirko honestly was hoping the digimon would hear in his voice that he meant they were friends. He couldnt have told him they werent. Mirko could imagine how hurt that would make Candlemon. What he said must have irritated the rookie, as it reached out taking the red device out of Mirkos hand and jumping away.
"Stop staring at this stupid thing. Will you look at me! ""Candlemon give that back!" Mirko jumped after Candlemon trying to get the device back. He failed as the white digimon with ease side jumped him. Mirko ended up on the forest floor, moving on his knees he look to the side where Candlemon was. The digimon could see just then that something was definitely not right with his friend. He jumped backwards keeping himself out of the boys reach.
"Not until you tell me whats made you so sullen."This time Mirko only briefly looked away before facing Candlemon, the flame eyes were set on him while the eyes belonging to the the wax body looked down at the device with the snow screen. The young kid didnt know what to do but to tell what bothered him. Maybe than his friend will leave him and be safe? If he understood it... maybe even having candlemon hate for not saying he was human would be better.
"The two digimon... " Mirko tried but wasnt sure how to say it. He tried again. He owned candlemon to be honest for his kindness.
"The outsiders are called humans.""Yes and?""Ember vagyok." Mirko said biting his lip, the flame face frown got deeper.
"What does that mean?"The next words Mirko spoke in a whisper just loud enough for Candlemon who was paying attention to catch them.
"It translates to, I am human." There was silence and Mirko could not take the heaviness of it.
"I think the device they mentioned is the one you are holding. Having that proves I am human...I didnt try to hide that I was just never thinking that it was important to mention it. It wasnt on my mind." Mirko watched as candlemon turned the device in his hands around. Observing it from all sides.
"So... If we destroy this, no one will recognize you to be human, right? There will be no proof. You will not be in danger than, right?"The rookie calmly said and Mirko jumped on his feet
"What!" Yet the human boy didnt try to lunge this time at the digimon.
"No, you cant do that!"Then the waxs body eyes looked up as well at Mirko. The boy realized how both pair of eyes staring at him felt scary. Serious in a way that would cause shivers.
"It would keep you safe." The data digimon said and Mirko twitched at the words. He felt tired and spent, the lack of sleep from this morning was catching up to the boy. His mind slower.
"I told you that I think that thing got me here. If you destroy it I may be stuck here." Mirko could see it than that Candlemon was thinking. He was completely still, even the flame looked still at that moment. It felt eerily outworldly. Mirko felt completely at the loss of words or what to do.
"I decided."Mirko could have sworn that only the flame spoke those words. He waited. The rookie digimon now grinned.
"Dont you want to know what I decided?" He spoke in a teasing and poking fun voice. It felt like a day and night contrast on the seriousness from before.
"Um... What did you decide?" Mirko asked as prompted.
"I decided that I absolutely do not care if you are a human, or an outsider, or whatever."Mirko blinked, now it was him who was being confused by the others action.
"But... being with me is putting you in danger. You said who is helping the outsiders the army see them as traitors."Candlemon jumped closer till he was leaning into Mirko face with his wax face.
"I promise you now that I will protect you. I will help you get home. That is something I want to do. Because you are my friend. You even shared your mothers food with me. I like you, you are fun to be around."Mirko was staring for a moment, than the sullen and panicked face was replaced with a truly happy one.
"Thank you." The boy started and he was about to say something else as well, but just then the device still in candlemon hand started to glow and the snow covered screen was replaced with a picture of the rookie with words and numbers beside it.
"Why did it do that?" Mirko asked staring now together with his friend at the device and the picture of Candlemon on it.
"You are asking me? You better take it. It is obviously as weird as you are. And do not show it to anyone at all." The rookie instructed giving the device back. Mirko put it back in his pocket. With his other hand he rubbed his eyes. Getting the sleep and some unshed tears away. Without a word more candlemon lead the way once more and Mirko followed after him. This time the digimon was looking for a good place to have them rest. This day was tiring for both of them. After a few minutes of a comfortable silence Mirko tapped the digimon shoulder whispering.
"What should we do if we meet another like me?""We will think about that when we meet them. Which is highly unlikely."
