We've not quite got it figured out, @TheDuncanMorgan... We've got work for our own RP to set up and we're gonna gm some Tabletop on Sunday. That'll need some preparation, as it's our first time.

But we'll see come next week. If we post we post. Don't hold anything up waiting for us, though. We would not want that.

We're finally getting to the point where catching up on net things is mostly done after we got home net.

@Ellri Not yet, I just tidyed it up a bit. I thought I would let you know as I plan to write up about the different continents and species soon. That way you will be looking on the right reference sheet once I have finished.

I shall be posting the first half of Echo and I's collaboration soon, after some formatting and editting is done. We're still in the midst of the negotiations themselves and once we conclude them and an additional scene I will post the second half of the collaboration.

A saintly warpriest kinda character.

Very interesting.
I feel him and Claus could form bad blood, especially if he notices Claus's lack of piety.
Sure, you pray to gods, since if you don't you aren't doing the correct thing. This doesn't mean he's a real believer.

Let's just see if my character gets to speak to any other player for a while, he's kinda stuck in the east :/

Oh well, i can always go and have a chat with Andrew, we're getting along fiiine..... just fine.
And i think lady Tuania likes Claus, she's got that look in her eyes. :D

Just to be a bit picky... On that sheet... We do wonder what a major injury is if a minor injury includes a direct hit by a battleaxe to the torso that cuts through the thickest plate on a suit of heavy plate armor...
Our understanding of physics dictates that such will lead to a rather crushed torso with some fairly inconvenient leakage...

@Ellri I imagine while it was a direct hit, the force behind the blow wasn't powerful enough to do any fatal damage. While it may have been enough to piece through the Armour it didn't go far enough to reach Lycaon's body. At least that was my interpretation of it.

@Klomster Also on a side note Claus will likely be returning to Nyhem at some point in the not so distant future (should you wish him too). As a result Claus will indeed likely meet up with Lycaon.

Battleaxe to plate armour?
Sure, it will leave a mark. But if it is the main cuirass on the front, that is one of the best protected points on a plate armour. Therefore the axe will make less damage there.
Considering what weapons you actually want to use against plate armour, a battleaxe is hardly compared to any of those. (I'm assuming battleaxe refers to a two handed axe, like a dane axe)

To properly defeat plate, concussive weapons are the primary choice, so a mace or a warhammer is best. A battleaxe does strike with a very good amount of force but won't properly bite into the armour, so has a high chance of sliding off.
If it doesn't bite, the concussive force isn't properly applied, and the armoured one will stand, since you can't cut plate armour with a blade without sci-fi tech or magic.

However, halberds have been reported to cleave a steel helmet (worn by a lord mind you, so good quality) in twain, so a good strike with a pole-weapon can shred plate armour. But only if it properly bites into the plate and has a very hefty blow behind it.

In this case, it is obvious the character was wounded when the strike occurred, however the axe didn't properly bite into the suit, so it mostly dented the armour.
Broken ribs or bones and some small cuts. That's what i call a minor injury, at least in a badass character setting.

we were a bit uncertain exactly ourselves, so we started looking up facts, rather than guessing fully.

Some people who know more than we do about this explaining

Going from what we read there, any sort of edged weapon (axe, sword, etc) are pretty useless against good, quality plate armor. You don't cut through the plate. Spiked or really pointy weapons have a better chance (thrust spears, spike end of a poleaxe, ballistae, heavy crossbows, longbow arrows), but you don't cut the plate with anything non-magical, and since Formaroth lacks enchanted weapons, that's the relevant physics, we think.

A blunt instrument like a maul or a mace might dent the armor and make it rather uncomfortable to wear. Maybe break a few ribs or other bones, but probably won't instantly kill the way a spiked weapon would. Plate armor is designed with curves that make edged blows slide off. Even a spiked weapon needs a lot of force to get around this.

The classic "boob" plate for females with well-defined cleavage work just the opposite way, guiding blows in to where they're most inconvenient to be hit, so that doesn't count.

Should a bladed weapon penetrate the plate, it must already be extremely compromised, so either the wearer is already rather injured, or he will be so shortly afterwards. having a non-moving surface to serve as "anvil" for the strike, like the ground, will help potential penetration. A prone individual wearing plate armor is about as safe as a turtle on its back with severely restricted ability to roll back over.

EDIT(ish): seems even longbows have problems punching through the breastplate part of plate mail.

@Ellri Interesting. Thankyou :). On a side note 'boob armour' is not something that people wear in Formaroth for the reasons you just gave.

Aye. it was interesting. we learned some from the link too.

that's one of the things we like about formaroth... Realism for things like armor, even as magic is mixed in.

Obviously Lycaon is not wearing "boob armor." I did mean that it was minor injury insofar in that it did not limit him in the future in any way, although it seems we've run into another problem. I'm not an expert on medieval warfare, so I was not aware of how powerful plate actually is.

We too thought it was somewhat weaker than it was, @ZB1996. So the lack of expertise is completely understandable.

We tend to be rather picky with sheets in our own RPs, so it bleeds over to RPs we're in run by others. Many things in Lycaon seemed to be lacking in logic. flaws that didn't quite add up and all that, but of course all this might balance out when you actually write IC posts, so it might just be us being unnecessarily picky.
