A mundane guy is plagued by the will of god for comedic life lessons to choose one of certain options in odd everyday situations or face annoying consequences. He's also in high school and all of his friends are girls because why not?

How about a bunch of men and aliens punching each other and using blasts that could destroy the entire universe until one of them dies. (It's a real wonder that they don't die by one blast considering the whole "can destroy a whole universe" thing going on)

Given what the characters in my own project are capable of - which we've discussed a little of - they're actually a lot more 'absurd' than this idea, except justified.

Anyway, you haven't had an idea from anyone for a bit, so figured I'd contribute.

A high school student decides to start taking part in a play-by-post role-playing game that's done over the cell phone (because society is obsessed with them now) with people, which conveniently several other people in his class/school happen to also be a part of (because that always fucking happens). Eventually, it turns out that everything they're writing about actually becomes reality in a parallel universe to their own, and the people from that parallel universe found out about it (don't ask how -- it's meant to be absurd) and subsequently invade the main character's universe in order to try and destroy it so the terrible things happening will stop. This invasion is done by them creating their own version of this role-playing game and 'fighting fire with fire', resulting in a cross-dimensional war that happens without either universe actually ever directly encountering the other.

Yeah, I came up with that in about ten seconds...

How about an anime that looks at the idea of Hikikomori in a different way. Instead of eventually becoming social or active in any way, he never leaves and it doesn't really progress unless the person decides to just kill himself. But that would be progressing backwards, which I've only seen anime have shut-ins eventually go outside and live social lives. It's not absurd in the fact that it doesn't make any sense, it's absurd in the fact it makes more sense than what is out there. lel

Since I don't know what 'Hikikomori' means - I can't comment much - but you're basically suggesting an anime based around a shut-in who eventually decides to kill himself (or doesn't, and the plot never goes anywhere), right?

Nothing else to say on it then, since you've made the points I'd make -- probably won't go anywhere - without being a 'Shoot The Shaggy Dog' story - unless he finds a love interest who's a shut-in like him, but ultimately it's more realistic than most anime that focuses on a shut-in character.

A story where the world turns out to be a governmental experiment where everyone are subjects, even the governments we know today. Basically the real government kidnapped everyone (and every animal for that matter) when they are born and in a way poisoned them, putting them inside a simulation of the world we live in. Nobody knows that the life they are living is a lie. At least, until they die in the simulation. When that happens, they wake up in the real world, which is much more vast and lively, nothing is really extinct either.

fidoko, a catboy living in an unnamed land with his unnamed family loves to play the fiddle. But his skills in it are lacking considerably. His friend Uhashine has the odd power to jump extremely high, one could say she can jump farther than the moon without trying, while the rival of Fidoko, Wairanu, a dogboy laughs. Then the lovers, Saji, who always has a spoon in his hand for some odd reason and Sara who always has a dish in her hand, elope far away to another unnamed land. That's the end.

Reminded me of the OVA 'Colorful' which is awesome. I definitely like the ending more than the colorful one, but I guess it's hard to sell suicide in Japan.

1) In a world called X, food eats humans not backwards, pigeons give food to passing humans and pillows have "pillowfights" by throwing humans at each other. humans are much tinier here, and they all train for 10 years with the help of Internet explorer and a snail how to become strong and beat up food, pigeons and pillows. One day a cute loli gets called in a dark alley and a shady dude turns her into a magical boy (wow) and she goes pow pow on the stuff.
