@Ailyn Evensen@tsukune@Dynamo Frokane@Cynder@shylarah@CrazyShadowyI'm up for either Discord or Skype for your project discussion. Up to you, really.
Considering nearly everyone seems to be bitching about how shit Skype is compared to Discord, I'll probably end up using Discord once I can get access to it somehow (not available on my phone, and I can't really voice chat on my PC). At the very least, it'd allow CrazyShadowy to get involved too. Once the chat is created, I'll be using it to discuss my project with friends I make on this site, and you'll probably get to meet some of my own circle as well. Obviously, I'd want all of the information about my project to remain confidential and not leave the chat, so anyone who can't abide to that won't be let in or kept in.
As for the Character Sheets part, I do try to work with a wide variety of character types - partly because I enjoy resuming different roles and the feeling of growing with them as they develop in the RP, the other would obviously be expanding my horizon and improve character creation and characterization skills. Unlike creating a story on my own where I'd start with the main character then to the other shenanigans such as setting and plot stuff, for RPs the players are supposed to work their characters around the setting established by the GM. Learning how to be flexible with the kind of characters I can create and play helps me to improve as a better RPer, yeah.
I honestly prefer to work with characters that appeal to me, but considering my project has such a massive and dynamic cast I'm obviously able to handle a variety of characters. When all is said and done though, if I'm going to remain interested in a role-play I do need to be using a character that I actually enjoy a lot.
Anyway, there's a free trial session for Overwatch this whole weekend (Friday-Sunday PST, which is Sat-Mon in my timezone) - most of my schoolmates are playing, and they bugged me to join them for party matches, so I've been busy. (Also, it's when I just recovered from a terrible flu, yo. XD)
I dislike FPS games in general, and Overwatch isn't an exception to that. Overall, I don't have a single character I'd want to use anyway.
I managed to catch a bit of that infamous Arena thread discussion you had, you raised some interesting points and I can definately see a lot more of it from your side now.
'Infamous' ey? I'm usually a source of controversy, so that doesn't surprise me. I assume you're talking about the back and forth I had in the actual chat thread, since the other discussion I had that got heated in that forum ended a lot smoother. Nevertheless, I'll tell you the same thing I told the people there who actually thought about what I said -- I appreciate your open-mindedness. I didn't actually intend on directly attacking the people in the forum, despite what you-know-who might have tried to imply by twisting my words, but I do feel like the discussion I addressed is a long-standing issue that many PvP role-players neglect to think about. Terms like 'broken' and 'god-moding' are badly defined and subjective concepts that far too many role-players - in and out of the arena - like to toss around thoughtlessly.
Also caught a bit of your current duel with Gainsborough, very well written.
Cheers. Admittedly, I think my first few posts in that IC are of better quality than the rest of them, mostly because my mind state got worse during the later ones for reasons unrelated to the thread -- this mostly resulted in me being less creative with my vocabulary than I was in the earlier ones. It's actually been well over five years since I role-played on a forum, so that thread's mostly something I'm doing for a bit of exercise, as I've told a few people. The setting and the use of dice really isn't something I consider a preference of mine, but at least it doesn't seem to be crippling my post quality too much.
Sorry for not getting an opportunity to respond to you here or your VM from last night as I ended up passing out! . . Expect a response from me soon, new friend.
No problem at all -- I passed out too after a while. I've responded to your VM reply as well. I think this was another instance of me being sarcastic not coming across properly over text, since I didn't take offense to anything you said (though I wasn't joking about the whole 'I have lots of enemies thing' -- blame people not being able to take me saying it like it is I guess). It's good to meet you and add include you amongst my friends here.
Also, I see you've met Ailyn. She's my fiancΓ©, just so you know. I think you're the only one I'm responding to in this post who doesn't know that, though I guess it depends on how extensively - if at all - you've looked through my user bio.
A cinnamon roll, in terms of a character, is generally sweetish, usually innocent (ish) and can often fall victim to the Break the Cutie trope. *amused* The fun part here is that one of my darkest characters has more than a few cinnamon roll aspects before she gets shattered. *evil cackling*
So... Ailyn, basically? Minus the whole 'Break the Cutie' thing (not that the universe doesn't try, mind you).
I live! Finally back on my computer as well, my activity in general will be back up!
Good to hear. Also, good timing considering I'm contemplating that 'Guardian Ascension' discussion channel.
