Stepping out of the train, the first thing that hit Steph was the smell. She had seen photos of the outskirts when she had been informed that her brother had died. But she had never been told of the noisome stench. It seemed the air itself was tainted with the smell of cigarette smoke and burnt rubber. It took a great deal of effort of Steph’s part to not wrinkled her nose at the malodorous air. Any sign that she found the smell to be discomforting would show that she was not from these parts. Today, Steph needed to blend into the crowd.

As she walked from the crowded train station, the smell lessened significantly but continued to linger in the back of her mind. Steph’s steps became automatic and she allowed herself to dally in her own mind. Had memorized the route to Archer’s grave. From the train station it was four blocks west and two blocks south. Then, she would have to look for a courtyard between a brothel and a bakery.

“Hey you! You there!” A voice screeched from behind Steph. Tensing as she spun, Steph let out a sigh to see the voice was a police officer. She was also relaxed by the fact that the police officer wasn’t talking to her, but to a hooded figure to her left. The figure’s hood fell and revealed their face. It was a girl.

"I feel like I don't really care about impressing other people. I thoroughly enjoy impressing myself."

║ Name ║
Valentina Marie Wilkerson

║ Age ║
Sixteen

║ Blood Status ║
Muggle-born

║ Year ║
6th

║ Parents ║
Mother - Maria Wilkerson (Deceased)
Father - Tyrone Wilkerson

║ House ║
Ravenclaw

║ Pet ║
Si - Valentina's Siamese cat that her mother got for her when she turned eleven. She named him Si, a reference to one of her favorite movies Lady & The Tramp.

║ Wand ║
9", Oak, Unicorn hair, reasonably springy.

║ Appearance ║
When someone sees Tina for the first time, their eyes will immediately look at the numerous tattoos that cover her arms, hands, and neck, some in admiration and others in disapproval. Each tattoo was designed by Tina herself, and she is very proud of them. She also has a few visible piercings including helix, conch, tragus, and lobe piercings in her ears, and two nose piercings. Tina is a light-skinned girl of average height, standing at five feet and six inches tall. Her naturally black hair, when straightened, falls just below her waist. Her eyes are dark brown, and are without doubt the most captivating aspect of her appearance, reflecting a look of wisdom far beyond her age that cannot help but draw people in. She has a curvy figure and weighs about 150 lbs.

Though very beautiful, her grace, the way she carries herself, her attitude, and her enthusiasm all take precedence over her individual physical attributes. Everyday, Valentina puts great effort in her appearance, her shirt is always crisp, her skirt is at a modest length, and not a thread is out of place. However, she loves to accessorize in any way possible, wanting to make the uniform her own. You'd usually see her with large hooped earrings, two or three rings on both her ring and pointer fingers, and a black or white headband. When not wearing her uniform, you can expect to see her in a pair of jeans, a cute blouse, and sneakers.

║ Personality ║
The Positive:

  • Laid-Back
  • Creative
  • Goofy

The Negative:

  • Stubborn
  • Blunt
  • Short-Tempered

Valentina is a seemingly calm and quiet girl, yet is by no means a pushover. She can more than take care of herself, but is smart enough to know when to pick a fight and when to let something go. She likes to see the good in life, and always wants to find better ways to handle problems. Valentina has always been a carefree girl; she believes that life is too short to dwell on mistakes or mishaps. She is someone who isn't weighed down by the troubles of everyday life, is not restricted by other people's opinions, and is always herself regardless of the situation. She is a cheery young woman, and is rarely found without a smile on her face or enthusiasm dripping from her words. She craves adventure, thrills, and new things. She strives to have a happy and enjoyable life and wants the same for those she holds dear.

Having grown up with a large number of male friends and cousins, Tina considers herself to be a bit of a "Tomboy." When going to the park, for instance, she'd rather get sticky and sweaty by playing a sport of some sort than "tan" with her girlfriends. Strangely enough, she prefers to keep to herself and stay quiet. When in a confident mood, however, she can be very charismatic and outgoing. She can be competitive, but will never come off as arrogant. Once you get to know her, you see that she is a very humble, caring, intelligent, and trustworthy individual. She has a past, along with a few quirks, as does every other human being, but makes up for them by being an overall fun and generally happy person to be around.

Tina is confident in herself and her actions, often to a fault. She is very opinionated, has trouble asking for help, and hates admitting when she's wrong. When things don't go as she planned or in a positive direction, she can get frustrated very easily. Though very smart, she has a hard time paying attention in her classes, and is usually caught daydreaming when she should be working. Tina has a bit of a "potty mouth," and uses profanity even when she isn't trying to. She has a bit of trouble controlling her temper, and whenever someone pushes her to her limit, she'll snap; it will often result in her yelling a large number of obscene words, throwing objects, and even going as far as to get physical.

Quirks/Habits:

  • She bites her nails (When they aren't done.)
  • Swearing
  • Writes with her left hand but does everything else right-handed.

Valentina has a witty sense of humor. She adores highbrow observational humor and jokes that aren’t devastatingly obvious.

║ Brief History ║
Tina was born into the Wilkerson family on December 12, 2004 in Luton, UK. Her family was poor, but her single mother tried her hardest to give Tina and her older brother a normal life. Their father had left the family before Tina was born, when her brother was five years old. ("He cheated on my mum with some skinny ass white broad and moved to London. Good riddance.") She'd receive letters and postcards from him every year for her birthday, but left them in a box under her bed, unopened. Although never having the "pleasure" of meeting her father, Tina knew how much of a deadbeat he was based on everything she'd learned from her mother and brother, Terrance.

Her world came crashing down in 2014. It was the last day of school, therefore they'd been let out of class early. Tina rode the subway home, as normal, arriving shortly before her brother. It was unusually quiet when she entered the house; her mother should have been getting ready to leave for work. Upon entering her mother's room, Tina saw that she was still laying in bed. She tried to shake her awake; if she wasn't awake within a few minutes, she'd be late for work. Tina shook as hard as she could, but her mother didn't move an inch. It was in that moment Tina realized that her mother was not breathing. Later on in her life she came to find out that her mother had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer is often diagnosed at a late stage because it tends not to show symptoms early on, and because of this, the cancer was incurable.

After her mother's death, Tina and Terrance moved to London to live with their ass of a father. Tina got her letter from Hogwarts just a year later, much to everyone's surprise. She's been at Hogwarts ever since.

He'll be friends with anyone, and will make sure not to cross any lines that would put a person into genuine hurt. People's opinions of him or his friends are insignificant to him.

History:

Birthday:
January 29th, 2004

Birthplace:
Chicago, U.S.A.

Birth Parents:
Father - Julius Boreaux
Mother - Clarissa Boreaux

Brief History:
Edwin Boreaux grew up with his narrow-minded parents as one of three siblings. Each of his siblings, Eleanor and Killion, passed through Hogwarts and graduated ahead of Edwin. Strangely enough, Edwin was the only one to pass into Slytherin. Eleanor was a Hufflepuff and Killion a Ravenclaw. As the son of two influential wizards, much was expected of Edwin. He excelled at his studies and classes, displaying a penchant for dueling and combat spells, however his parents saw him as a failure in his personal life. He sought out relationships with other houses and younger students, shielding them from some of the hazing that other Slytherin students inflicted upon them.
Growing up in the Boreaux household was trying for Edwin. Unfortunately, his parents were incredibly similar to that of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy. They taught him to be the superior wizard wherever he went, that he was the above "mud-bloods" and other houses. Power and influence were to be prioritized above everything else. For the large portion of his life, Edwin was exactly what his parents raised him to be. He was cruel and prideful; he was a snake.
However, once he began his studies at Hogwarts, things changed. Through a combination of benevolent teachers, bold friends, and a Muggle-born Hufflepuff with a particular talent for dueling, many of Edwin's childhood beliefs were radicalized. By the start of his third year, he was actively working to change who he was as a person. Now, in his seventh year at Hogwarts, he's a completely different person. His parents disagree with many of his beliefs, however Edwin is not one to easily be persuaded.

Sample of Writing
This will be a story of Christmas with Edwin's family during his 5th year. I really don't expect you to read all of this, I kind of got carried away while I was writing it. Sorry about that!

The crisp air bit into the young Slytherin's skin, numbing the tips of his ears and freezing the small amount of moisture on his lips. Cold air expelled from Edwin's lungs turned into a cool mist as it swirled into the empty space in front of the wizard.

Edwin stood upon the balcony of his family's expansive home, gazing across vast chasm that bordered the building. The house sat upon the edge of a cliff that dropped away into a vast canyon. The morning fog shielded the floor of the chasm beneath Edwin, however he knew from memory that a river covered the entirety of the rock beneath him. The canyon walls were comprised of grey rock that extended deep into the earth, entering the lackadaisical water after about two hundred feet. Despite being so high above the water, Edwin could still hear the sounds of the ice settling as it echoing upwards into his ears. The opposite side of the ravine could be seen a few hundred feet away from Edwin, however it was merely a hazy outline in the mist.

A single, clear tone rung throughout the canyon as a wizard within the house cast a spell to summon Edwin. Heaving a great sigh, the young wizard stepped back from the edge of the balcony and turned on his heel, pushing open the doors that led inside. Making his way through the halls quickly, Edwin traveled through the mansion to the hearthroom where his entire family sat.

His father and mother both reclined upon lavish seats by the roaring fire, their posture rigid as they observed him enter the room. Killion stood by the hearth, gazing into the magically sustained flames with a shadowy expression resting upon his face, no doubt dreading the conversation to come.

Eleanor lounged gracefully across couch that faced adjacent to the seats her parents occupied. Her raven hair fell over the arm of the couch and her right leg was propped up on the back. She craned her neck to make eye contact with Edwin as he entered the room; her smile masked a stark sadness within her.

Edwin jumped over the back of the couch, landed by Eleanor's feet. Ignoring the disapproving glance from his mother, he focused on his sister's face. "You look beautiful, Eleanor. That scarf really suits you."

For a moment, a look of genuine pleasure crossed her face, however it was removed when their father spoke. "We need to talk, Edwin." Attempting to retain complete composure, he turned to face his father, correcting his posture and placing his folded hands in his lap.

"What is it we need to discuss, father?" Edwin was completely aware of what it was his parents wished to discuss, however he didn't want to appear as insubordinate by jumping to the topic at hand.

Clearing her throat, Clarissa cast a glance at her husband before speaking. "When your sister was first preparing to graduate from Hogwarts, she was searching for opportunities for her to apply her talents in the real world." Eleanor looked over at her brother with a pained smile, placing her hand on his knee. "She found a job researching Herbology for the Ministry of Magic. Killion went through a similar process, eventually becoming an assistant to a wand maker. Your father and I would like to-"

She was cut short as Killion turned from the fireplace and spoke with anger in his voice. "They think you've become complacent and are thoroughly disappointed with your actions and they fear you'll never amount to anything more than a security guard for the Ministry." He spoke with spite and venom in his voice, his face contorted with anger.

"Hold your tongue, Killion!" Julius hissed, glaring at his eldest son. "You would be wise to consider your next actions extremely carefully, child."

Killion let loose a mirthless laugh. "Why bother mixing in sugar with the venom when it will kill you anyways? It's what we're all thinking!"

Eleanor sat up, speaking with a voice of command. "Killion, your anger is misdirected and assists no one. It would be-"

"Please, sister dearest, tell me what would be the "wise" choice for me here, seeing as you always know what's best!" His voice dropped multiple octaves as he allowed his anger to fully consume his voice.

"Perhaps she's aware of what's best because she possessed the intelligence you lack, Killion." Edwin's voice possessed a calm, controlled tone, not betraying the anger and panic he felt inside.

Killion opened his mouth to reply, however before he could, the hearth's fire extinguished itself and the sunlight filtering into the room vanished. The temperature dropped to a degree colder than the frosty temperature outside. A voice as cold and hard as ice echoed throughout the room, drawing everyone's attention.

"Each and every one of you will remember your place in this family." All eyes turned to Edwin's mother in her chair. Her posture was perfect, her head held high with a gaze of harsh power. In her right hand, the tip of her wand glowed softly, sustaining the spell.

The very air in the room felt like it was sucked out as the entire family fell silent, none willing to challenge Clarissa's influence. After an indiscernible amount of time passed, she relaxed her hand, allowing the magic to die out. The hearth slowly refueled itself, however the fire was weaker than before. The sunlight that shined into the room seemed muted and dull. The entire family was still and silent, unwilling to break the eerie silence.

The sat like this for quiet a while, each of them considering how to react to their mother's display of power. While the spell itself wasn't that impressive by itself, most likely a hex each member of the family could replicate, the fact that Clarissa has become enraged enough to use magic to make her children heed her was one that no one could ignore. Clarissa was most certainly the most level-headed family member, and when she became angry, everyone immediately restrained themselves.

After a few minutes, Edwin swallowed and then spoke. "Your concerns are most certainly heard, Mother and Father, and I will endeavor to remedy this situation over the course of my final years at Hogwarts. I appreciate your concern for my welfare." With that, he rose from his seat and immediately left the room, careful not to rush. He was glad to be away from his family for a short time, however that would soon end.

Kate Grey

"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live" - J.K. Rowling

Basic
Name:Kate Evelyn Grey

Age: 16

Blood Status: Half-blood

Year: 6

Parents: Margret Washington and Damen Grey

House: Hufflepuff

Wand: Blackthorn, Unicorn Tail Hair, 151/3, supple flexibility

Appearance
Hair: Blonde

Eyes:Blue

Height: 5'3"

Skin Tone: Very Pale

Kate dresses very boldly. She will throw together any combination that she thinks will compliment her. She tries to avoid black because her mother always referred to black as a funeral color. Kate also likes to wear really bright colored shoes. She could be dressed in a light blue romper but she would still put on a pair of bright red flats. When she has to dress up, Kate will wear a dress, she really hates boring necklines so she will wear dresses that are questionable just to get the interesting neckline.

Kate has very light blonde hair. But the color of her hair differs in the lighting. In some lighting her hair looks nearly white and in other lighting it looks rather yellow. Her eyes are blue but not in a way that stands out, they could almost pass as grey if seen at a glance. Kate has very pale skin so it's extremely obvious when she's blushing. This does not come in handy when she's talking to somebody that she likes. In fact, Kate hates this quality about herself, not because it shows her emotions but because she doesn't have any control over it. Face claim to Emily Kinney.

Personality
Positive- Patient, tolerant, loyal, bold, dependable, and accepting.

Negative- Naive, impulsive, restless, and credulous.

Mannerisms: Playing with her ring, applying chapstick, and she speaks with her hands.

Sense of Humor: Kate has a good sense of humor but a lot of the time she won't realize when an innuendo is said. Not because she doesn't understand the joke but because of the way Kate was raised. She does have an affinity towards puns.

Basic Personality: Kate is an easy going person, she'll try to make conversations with people when they're sitting near each other and both alone. Her first instinct is to try and befriend a person. In a lot of instances, Kate is a little too trusting but she doesn't think of that as a bad thing. Kate is also very open, she doesn't feel embarrassed or self conscious telling things about herself. Her friends can basically read her like an open book, there's nothing hidden about her. Also, when it comes to her friends, Kate is fiercely loyal. She will defend her friends extensively if someone is making fun of them or picking on them for whatever reason. However, she doesn't like to admit it when one of her friends does something against their friendship, she views it as something of a slap to the face.

History
Birthday: November 20, 2004

Birthplace: Ceredigion, West Wales

Birth Parents: Margret Washington and Damen Grey

Guardians: Margret Washington and Alice Grey

Kate's mum, Margret- who was a witch, got pregnant when she was only 18. Kate's dad, Damen, went to university in the United States while Kate stayed with his mother, Alice, in Wales. When Kate was five she went to the hospital to visit Margret's estranged father. While Kate was in the room with him, he died. After that, she and her mom moved to Georgia, United States, where her dad had gotten a job at a prestigious law firm.
Kate grew up in the United States, which gave her a mix between a British and Southern accent. This made her stick out even more than she already did. Kate didn't have it easy with her random outbursts of magic. There was one time when she was eight when she was in school. Some of the other children were picking on the way she said chips instead of fries. One of them grabbed her arm and her body felt threatened and burned the kid's hand. Kate got in an extreme amount of trouble for that. Despite that she learned to like it in Georgia, she made friends. However, when she was around ten, Margret decided they were going back to the United Kingdom so that Kate would be able to go to Hogwarts.
When they got back to the United Kingdom, Margret and Damen decided to make Alice Kate's other guardian, just in case something happened and someone needed to make decisions about Kate and Margret wasn't there.
When Kate arrived at Hogwarts for her second year she was startled that she could see the thestrals. When someone explained it to her it began to make more sense. She was intrigued by the creatures but they also somewhat frightened her. There was an aura to them that sent shivers down her spine.

Sample
This brief piece takes place when Kate was five, she was visiting her mother's estranged father in the hospital.
Kate waited by the side of the bed. She watched the heart monitor slowly graph out the dying breaths of a man she didn't know. Her mother said that he was a family friend, but Kate felt there was something more to it. Kate swung her legs on the chair, making it spin in a circle. She had found the swivel chair very early on in this visit and had refused to sit in another chair.
"Peggy?" The man groaned from his bed, his eyes barely opened. Kate immediately began to wonder who Peggy was. Slowly, she approached the man's bedside. The monitor she had been watching before was beeping more frequently.
"Peggy?" The man asked again. This time Kate noticed he was talking to her. He thought that she was Peggy. What was she supposed to do? She didn't know who Peggy was.
"I'm very sorry, sir. My name's Kate, I'm afraid I don't know who Peggy is," Kate told the man in her most grown up voice. "I can ask my mom."
"That's quite alright Kate." The man shifted on his pillows and opened his eyes more. "Your name is Kate. Is that short for something?"
"Yes, sir, it's short for Kathryn, my whole name is Kathryn Evelyn Grey." Kate decided she was tired of standing and went to sit on the foot of the bed.
"That's a beautiful name, my wife's name was Kathryn," the man rasped out.
"Where is your wife?" Asked Kate curiously, the old man smiled at her sadly.
"She passed some time ago, little one," the man told her and then sat there in silence for some time.
The man tried to speak again but no intelligent words came out. He began to twitch faster and faster. The beeping from the monitor intensified and soon became one long single, drawn out sound. Kate was terrified, a group of nurses rushed in. One of them picked Kate up and moved her away from the man as the others rushed to the man's bedside. After a few minutes they stepped back and said there was nothing more they could do.
