Ruby doesn't use her gun's recoil to move. She uses it for some extra kick, that's all. The recoil is just added momentum, but it's her semblance that makes her move really fast for the most part. I would assume that they also just bent the laws of physics a little, and that in "reality" her gun's recoil wouldn't have nearly as much effect as they suggest it does. However, looking at the Red Trailer, we can guess that Ruby is using some big f***ing bullets judging by the holes they put into the beowolves. I would guess some sort of caliber like .50 BMG or very close, like one or two steps above. There are calibers above .50 that people can shoot without being knocked on their ass, as long as they know what they're doing.

But yeah, it's not like Ruby uses her gun to go from a dead stop to lightning speed, normally we see her use it to help her change direction, make her weapon hit harder when she swings her, or to help her move even faster than she already is once she's started moving using her semblance or something.

Jman, to answer your question, no. Like Killamri explained, it's Ruby's semblance that allows for her to move at impossible speeds.

Pfft, Alexis is plenty polite... compared to Enyo. I'm having WAY too much fun making her the meanest person I've ever RP'd as XD

Also, if anyone thinks the whole shooting the coin with an arrow thing was too much, let me know. I was on the fence about it... but then I read jman's post... -___-
The way I see it, Enyo is very good at one thing... and that's it, lol. I figure just about everyone else in this RP has more well-rounded characters when it comes to combat ability.

Also, someone go try to make friends with Felix! He's lonely... and I want to watch/make him squirm uncomfortably. The way I see it, Irish, as the only character of (future) team JAKF to not have made a second post since landing at Beacon, the ball's in your court, but if you had other plans, that's fine too. It's just an idea. :P

Was planning on it actually, Felix needs a buddy.

I'll get to it in a bit, throbbing pain in head makes it hard to even read atm.

I'll put up another post, but Booker need for some of his teammates to interact with! He's a weird and quiet kid, so he might not be the first to talk unless told so or given a reason.

Seeing how there are two main teams already and there's probably little chance of a third team to fit an odd one out into, I think I'm gonna make a nice, rougish antagonist >:3

Name: Gerald Cygnus

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Weight: 60 kg

Height: 170 cm

Appearance: Gerald has medium length blue hair which he refuses to groom. He keeps switching between an uneasy form and an easy going smile, putting up a front of happy go lucky as a defence against the uneasiness of his profession. He wears a white dress shirt with a red bowtie and a red with gold trimmed vest. Over that, he either wears a normal suit or a long black coat.

When on a heist, he also wears a fedora with a single card ace of spades attached to it.

Personality: Gerald is, above all, a pragmatist. When he sets his sights on a goal, he will do everything necessary to achieve the said goal. Although he has never killed anyone so far, he has sent many people to the hospital during his little heists, some of them with serious injuries. In his words, "I don't ever plan on hurting people. I'm prepared to do so if I have to though."

As a person, Gerald really just wants one thing: To get out of the slums that he had been trapped in for so long. Being locked away in misery and poverty, Gerald is rather bitter against the rest of Vale and will either laugh in the face or be greatly insulted by anyone who believes that "the world is enjoying a time of peace and prosperity". There were people fighting for scraps of food on the streets. What Prosperity? he would think. In a long term goal, once he crawls out of the slums Gerald has a desire to take the newfound wealth he will oneday surely acquire and use it to help the rest of the people still stricken in poverty, with a large portion of his heist gains already going to food purchases for his neighbours.

Normally, Gerald will be casual, seemingly never taking any situation seriously. He will almost always have a reason to have a smile on his face except in the most dire situations. Those dire situations are almost always on the very rare occasions he actually contemplates murder and will consider it justified.

Likes: Naivetrusting people (easy money), unsuspecting nobility (easier money), lightly guarded Schnee dust corporation warehouses (easy weapons), closed banks with sleeping guards (free money), energy drinks (helps him stay awake long enough to get easy money).

DIslikes: murderers, people who steal for their own gain ("They make people like me look absolutely selfish"), coffee.

Strengths: Gerald is, above all, a combat pragmatist - unlike most warriors, Gerald will do ANYTHING to win in combat. Even if said "anything" includes throwing dirt, deceit, master ruses, feints and traps. As for natural advantages, he is a great tactician, having pulled off many near impossible heists with improvised plans, but is a poor strategist.

Weaknesses: He has no formal training. And, worst, comes to worst, he is one. Beacon teams work in four. The advantage here should be obvious.

History: Unlike most students who would grow up, go to signal, train and get accepted to Beacon, Gerald never had a chance.

Born on the streets of the city with his biological parents disappearing soon after his birth, Gerald would have died without even having had a chance to do anything for himself had it not been for the kindness of a young woman who was already struggling to make ends meet. The woman, a working girl, raised him in secret from her employers and Gerald learned the ways of survival by any means from her. Seeing that he was male and his surrogate mother's line of work was closed to him, Gerald instead turned to thievery to support the household income, stealing since he was seven. It began with small pickpocketing, eventually rising to breaking and entering. With both of them earning money, the situation was getting just a bit better. Gerald had once dreamed of going to Signal and training to become a hunter just like all kids his age dreamed at one point, much like dreaming to be a policeman, firefighter or pilot, but he knew that with his current situation such a thing was completely out of the question. What Gerald didn't know was that his surrogate mother was also saving money in hopes of sending Gerald to Signal and having him leave the slums.

When he was ten, however, his surrogate mother was killed on the job. There was apparently some argument about payment and her client simply murdered her. She was just another working woman on the streets with no family to care if she died or not. The police did not open any serious investigation.

Gerald, however, did.

Having acquired the name of his late surrogate mother's murderer from her former co-workers, Gerald broke into a dust warehouse and store a suitcase of dust. Turning to the criminal underworld which he previously had brushes with, the ten year old boy made a deal with a criminal with a cane and a bowler hat - he would indebt himself to the criminal underworld, and in return, they would take any dust he stole and turned it into powers he could use. The criminal underground pulled strings, and a few days later Gerald got his power. This was the first time he held Laughing Robin in his hands.

Taking the dust cards and with his aura and semblance awakening, Gerald immediately confronted the man who murdered his surrogate mother. With the man pleading and begging for his life at the feet of a ten year old boy, Gerald demanded to know why the man murdered his surrogate mother. The man claimed money.

Gerald didn't spare him.

Since then, Gerald had gone on to work his way out of his debt with the underworld. Committing many heists and evading police several times, Gerald soon became a wanted criminal under the alias "Ace of Diamonds".

Weapon: Laughing Robin

Gerald does not use a conventional weapon, instead having a deck of dust infused cards. There are three types of dust infused into the cards, with each card and their colour having a different effect.

Red Cards: Infused with red dust, these cards create an explosion upon impact. Gerald can throw them outright or he can also heat them long enough to serve as haphazard timed bombs.

Blue Cards: Infused with blue dust, these cards are razor sharp. Gerald can throw these cards and they will have the lethality of extremely sharp throwing knives, being able to pierce normal armour.

Yellow Cards: Infused with yellow dust, these cards contain a paralysis agent. Anyone who is struck by these cards will be paralysed . This is Gerald's normal main offensive weapon, seeing as how he considers murder an outright last resort and something he wishes to avoid at all costs.

Semblance: His semblance is a form of instinct - when his semblance is activated, he can see two different worlds - one is the normal world, and the other is the world 0.5 seconds to the future. This is a combat semblance he uses to predict his enemy's movements and counter with his own. It should be noted that this semblance does not help Gerald gain any special edge but is a "catch-up" semblance to make him capable of fighting on par with trained hunters despite his own lack of training.

I for one, welcome Twisted Fa- I mean... "Gerald" to the RP.

That said it's not up to me, and I really just wanted to make that joke. :P

I mostly just skimmed the sheet, but he seems somewhat interesting. Just be careful, if you're accepted, to not abuse his "future sight" to become OP. Remember: just because you can see something, doesn't always mean you can do a damn thing about it. Also, the average person takes one full second to process new stimuli.

Other than that word of caution, he seems cool. We'll see if pyro agrees. The only thing I'd worry about is we don't really have anywhere to put you a the moment. I wonder how we'd get Gerald to Beacon, and what reason he'd have for being there anyway.

It's obvious he's here for the Twisted Flakes.

And Kat STILL retains her status as: Hugemongasaur.

I figured xD

I think it's a bit too obvious who my inspiration for Gerald is. (understatement of the year). As for his semblance, yeah, I won't abuse it. It's mainly just so that I can justify him being able to last in a 1 v 1 against a trained hunter despite the fact his bio says he has no training whatsoever. To be honest, when writing his semblance I considered giving him two, with the second being a stealth/invisibility semblance to make up for the fact he would probably be outnumbered.

As for how to get him into Beacon, well, I originally intended for him to be an anti-villain/antagonist for a little while, seeing how there's two perfectly fit teams so far. In that case, I would say he would be stealing something from Beacon and/or be working there as a janitor of sorts to pull off a heist. If we just decide to skip the antagonist part and get him to beacon though, then I guess we can say he got in the same way as Ruby did xD
