Hey guys! So I have a YouTube channel, ToothNClaw Gaming, and I was thinking of doing a let's play with Skyrim Special Edition. Would there be any interest here? It would be me playing though as a bard (using mods) until my character dies, then she is gone forever. I wouldn't be doing main quests, just side quests and adventuring, traveling from gold to hold in an attempt to become a famous bard/mage.

Actually I believe there is a mod which adds permadeath into the game, with the added fun that there's a location where statues are made of characters that have died, if you plan on continuing past a first death, using another character. Are you playing on PC?

Pretty sure the "Play as a bard, do real bard things instead of being a bamf adventurer" thing, has been done before ... While it was funny the first time, I really wouldn't be interested in seeing the same thing again. Skyrim is a pretty meaty game, I'd rather a new spin on skyrim playthrough things, what that new spin is is anyones guess, but long story short, NO, I wouldn't watch that kind of playthrough again unless something new and refreshing was introduced, just because its like the 10,000th Happy Wheels lets play. It's been done before, its funny for about 3 videos and then its just another irritating repetititive format thats been done to death then beaten with a stick. That said, its your life, your channel, if you want to do it and you enjoy it, go for it, personally I wouldn't watch, there are plenty of people who would.

> See, its been done a bajillion times before.
livinginoblivion.wordpress.com

Living in Oblivion already did it and loads of others have done it. If I wanted to watch that, it would have to be a YT star who brings something with the commentary or switches up the challenge. I can just play the game myself, I watch lets plays if they're games I don't have time to play but have an interesting plot, or if its the kind of game I know the lets player will add good commentary on.

I don't bother with skyrim because theres so many and they can be pretty dull. Theres a granny who plays Skyrim (and is pretty good), and I watched Ross from GG do a speed run because he's funny, but aside from that, I'd never watch a Skyrim letsplay unless it had a real good hook and "I'm gonna be a bard" isn't a compelling hook.

Hate to be a downer here, I really wish you the best with your channel, but if you want to get better, post premium content, I'm sure theres something really cool and new you can do. THink outside the box and really set the bar up there. Long story short, do it if you want to, if you want to reel in a larger audience, get a good hook or hooks to make your channel shine, Skyrim playthroughs usually aren't big hooks (for me at least).

Well I do have something but I can't post any videos yet. I was picked to be an Alpha tester for Mirage, the game made by the same people as Chivalry Medieval Warfare, if you're familiar with that game. BUT, being early Alpha, they have a clause against recording/posting any videos of it for now, which suuuucks because that game is going to be big, that's my guess. It's fantastic right now and it's just in it's 3rd Alpha. Mixing Chivalry with a magical twist.

Other than that, I just don't have any of the really new games so I have to do something older. I started to do an Outlast recording, but my rendering/editing software decided to be a prick and I didn't finish rendering the thing -_-

That sounds REALLY interesting!!! First off, thanks for not getting salty about my criticism(s)? Some people can't take any kind of concrit so its good when people are open to listen at least (I mean you don't have to take on board anything I say, but at least being polite about it when someone politely concrits is a good thing.)
Okay back on track, I'm not familiar with Chivalry, but the fact you're involved with an early Alpha shows 1. You're clued in on what games are coming up/industry etc, any idiot can play Happy Wheels, keeping up with indie games and early releases shows you aren't picking the easy finds or clickbaity stuff you're putting in the work with researching and following new games. Seriously, props to you!

Can you talk to someone from Mirage about talking about it maybe? Since you can't show footage, perhaps you could do a sort of vlog or info vid about what you think so far, offer some ideas/suggestions, rave about how cool it is etc, sort of sate the appetite for vids of the game before it even comes out so when you can release footage, well, then you go do that!!!

See about doing collabs, they're more often than not good for both channels involved. Its fun to watch one guy play games, its double fun to watch two guys struggle through a coop or shoot each other in the ass and tell lame jokes.

Yeah, Im just spouting out words now. See if you can talk about Mirage at least and keep a close eye on when you can release some footage of a playthrough, if you're the first one to do it/get out there early, it'll work in your favour.

All the best man, it sounds like you have real potential and the smarts to get it done. Hate to bash on skyrim playthoughs (they ARE fun, just 10 a penny). Maybe you could add some gimmick to it like playing "in character" where YOU dress up as a Dohvakiin and make terrible jokes about Odin and stuff (tbh I'd find that fucking hilarious, not sure if its been done before though) and your character is a normal bard doing normal bard things etc.

Would an LP of Skyrim SE even be all that worth it? It's not any different than vanilla Skyrim, and for that there's been thousands of those already.

Surely if you want to LP a new game, the Special Edition of Skyrim would be the last thing on the list.

@Spud

Depends on what mods and overhauls you use though, doesn't it? I mean there are mods that make Skyrim a drastically different experience :p
