The entryway leads to a cleared area, enough for 154 200 people probably. Is it a completely open space? NoDoes it have other uses? How far back does the entryway go, and is it something like an open room that leads to a hallway at the back that leads to the living quarters, cafeteria, etc?

Or is it more like a... hub? With halls that lead to the different sections? Yes, there is a large cafeteria which serves multiple purposes. There are four sections where there is living quarters. There is one section where the rooms are 8x9 for married couples.

Perhaps there would be several living sectors, and the cafeteria would possibly have lunches in shifts or more like an open buffet? Hm.. then I assume there's storage spaces for gear/rations, supplies etc.Yes

Let's see... how is air filtered here? Plants? Charcoal/synthetic filters in a closed air system? NO wait... hum... there'd have to be something to make sure there's oxygen, and I'm not sure filters alone would cut it for that. Uh...There are lots of plants and they have to recycle air and water. All filtration systems are in place for this.

I love how people missed the intro where we were all told "I can't help but feel like I am sending you out to your deaths. I very well could be. I do know that without food we WILL die in here. No question about that. At least out there we have a chance. It might be a small chance but that is better than nothing. I wish all of us a lot of luck and may God bless us all."

I am assuming by the above statement that the commander made that we are all meant to go out and try and forage for ourselves and to find shelter

Add to that the first sentence "A year ago all 154 of us were thrust into a position to try and save the human race. I'm not sure if we can actually do that. There isn't enough food to feed everyone for more than a few days. That being said we are opening the bunker doors."

Taking this as meaning that we face starvation I also assumed that we would have been on half rations at least two weeks before the commander would have resorted to such drastic actions

I could be wrong but I see Kwan as a survivor and she will make it no matter what stands in her way

Yes he meant that they needed to do something before there was no food left. Opening the doors was supposed to give them the chance to go look for food and find a way to survive out in the new world. The part they didn't look at was people dropping dead right away. I love Kwan. She cracks me up. I'd be running from the snakes not eating them. lol

As I said she's a survivor and the thing she is presently concentrating on is the acquisition of knowledge of her local area and where food is found within it and possible shelter.

She’s hungry and she is driven as well as a highly practiced Martial Artist even if she is without any practical experience outside of the Gym or the Movies

Actually, I didn't miss that, but I assumed that the commander would have had the foresight to send us out without having put us on half rations. Being thrust a few days early into a vicious world without having to starve first would be a better option after all.

As such, my assumption was, when they realized we were going to run out of food in a couple weeks or so, they'd send us out early to go find food on the off chance we wouldn't be able to bring in enough for a few days.

After all, the people they dragged in are strangers who perhaps don't have hunting skills or tracking skills. For all we know, the outside is a wasteland with barely anything alive within a mile of the bunker. As such, it would be wise to send us out early, without having us starved and weakened to try to supplement the supplies until we can sustain things ourselves.

There was no prospects of resupplying without having to leave the bunker. As such, I would have thought we'd be sent out before we were all weakened from starvation or our supplies got too low to feed us for another week.

I didn't realize the commander would have starved us first and then send us out knowing well that it would be a long time before the radiation settled, regardless. To be honest, I certainly didn't expect people to go stumbling over snakes within minutes of opening the bunker doors.

I was pretty sure it was going to take quite a bit more than that to get food. At least half an hour of hunting and foraging was my thought. Especially because snakes would normally get out of the way of loud large creatures tromping around before they were seen, unless they were busy sunning themselves after catching a meal.

I was very much aware that the commander wanted us to forage, but why couldn't we continue to shelter in the bunker and make it our base of operations. It already has walls, entranceways, beds, some filtration and plants, and well, something of a water source.

I live in the West and have been to Oklahoma and they have a lot of snakes there from my memory because the barn we used for the event had six killed in it the week we were there

@RumikoOharaI live in North Texas. Knew kids who liked to catch water moccasins for fun. Also knew a few ponds and streams that were pretty much filled with the creatures. Was kinda terrifying seeing so many of them writhing around in the water. Still, it seemed a little too early for people to step on them. No I'm actually not referring to your character btw.

So we're going with the whole, we're all starving deal? Dammit. I'd have rather gone with the, we got let out early when supplies were beginning to run low since we'd have to do it eventually and it's better to do it while we still had regular full meals than half rations deal.

@Kyrisse I'm glad you like reading my posts. As for cockroaches... I wouldn't normally recommend bugs raw. Especially when you don't know what they've been in. Locusts though, those would be pretty good eating. I know how to prepare that too. Think I heard they had a nutty flavor when roasted? Something like that.

Hey....this is hard times....gotta try something. He could've easily came upon peyote thinking he's simply get water and vegetation...well....if any would have survived. :D either way, yeah....he gave roaches a shot. lol
