After few days of waiting, the latter of Theolagius's army had reinforced the vanguard for a heavy attack on Nanking, the capital of Xi'an. Even the Emperor, Iltar Bassovar, had joined for the siege of Nanking.

Nightfall

Men on horseback, chargers, readied themselves for the ambush, all around were swordsmen, spearmen and archers. Iltar led the charge himself, sitting at the front with the many veteren knights he had faught with years before. Sonatdarok let the wrong naming of him slide, as he heard the clang of sword and shield outside. 'I do think we will have need of you yes' he said as he picked up his morning star and yelled at some nearby Dru to join the fight, rushing out with them.

The campground was in chaos, the Dru army had sustained heavy casualties, but had quickly fallen back behind stakes driven into the ground, which warded of a lot of the horsemen. Arrows rained down on each side, and the mud ran red with blood. Sonatdarok ran to join the front ranks, but an arrow pierced his shoulder. With a grunted he pulled it out, waving a hand at the healer, signalling that others needed more attention. He rallied the Dru and leaped over the stakes to go on the offensive.

As Sonatdaroks morning star freed many men from their horses, and their bodies in the process, an Dru messenger teleported outside the castle. 'The encamped Dru request aid, a surprise ambush from the Theolagians has devastated our ranks, and we won't be able to hold out for much longer' he spoke in the accent of a high-ranking southern Dru, one that holds himself in high esteem. After receiving entry into the castle he bowed and relayed his message to the emperor.
